Cereus was born deep within the swamp lands where he was looked after by his father and by his mother for a short time. His father, Boi-Tatá, taught him how to set traps and how to survive in the swamp. It is because of these lessons that Cereus has been able to set out on his own and keep himself alive.

He has taken up refuge in his own swamp and keeps two minions. A ceryeni and a pixie mare.
