Akiko had somehow found herself alone and lost yet again. How on earth had she managed to make it so far this time? Looking around, the little pixie could see that she had managed to walk all day. The sun was beginning to go down past the mountains and hills and the temperature had started to drop several degrees. In less than an hour she assumed it would be dark. The land that she traveled had become boggy and her footing was becoming less stable. The trees had started to increase, while growing farther apart and the brush covered any area that wasn't covered with water. It seemed, that she had managed to traverse into a swamp.
Akiko groaned, how had she managed to get this lost? How was it that she wasn't able to remember much of her journey? Was she that tired really? Her memory had been on the fritz lately. Was it getting worse? Had this land been doing something to her? It was hard for her to remember, but she didn't think she'd ever had any problems until she made the journey here. Whatever might be wrong with her, now was not the time to worry about it, she had more pressing issues. For example, where was she and what was she going to do about it? With the sun setting she didn't have much time to find shelter. The swamp appeared treacherous, yet the mare wasn't given much of a choice, there was no way that she would have time to leave the swamp and find shelter. She would simply have to hope she could find a cave within it's foul depths. Determined, the pixie pressed on, hopeful that she could find the shelter she so desperately needed.

As night began to fall upon the swamp, the creatures began to awaken. Crickets started their singing, frogs could be heard croaking, and many other creatures began the hunt for their evening meal. Deep within the middle of the swamp, where the brush was thickest, the water deepest, a creature far more menacing than a gator or snake began to stir. This section of the swamp was much quieter. Creatures gave the area a wide birth, fearful of the creature that dwelled within.
Cereus could hear the far off music of the crickets and rhythmic croaks of the frogs and toads. The sound was soothing to him, he supposed that it reminded him of home. Looking about, the stallion spotted green snake not too far off. "Ah, there you are Monty. What have you been doing all day?" He hissed to the little thing. The snake appeared to eye him wearily, but continued to ignore him. With a little chuckle, the stallion turned his attention to the swamp. It was usually quiet around his cave, but things seemed to be unusually so tonight. "You hear that Monty? I think we might have company tonight." He called back to the snake.

Akiko was starting to become worried now. How much time had passed? It felt like ages. Certainly the sun had gone down quite some time ago. The moon was beginning to make it's journey through the sky, and the ground was more water then earth. What was this place? It was eerily quiet and the mare could barely see her own hooves in the dark shade of the swamp. The moon provided a little bit of light, but certainly not enough to help her journey much. She needed to find shelter, and fast. This land was treacherous, and she was likely to end up prey to it if she didn't get out soon.
Desperate, Akiko looked around for somewhere, anywhere, she could hide out until morning. At first glance, she found no such place. However, looking once more, the little Usdia spotted what appeared to be a trail. Why would there be a trail in a place like this? Perhaps someone lived near here? Though she couldn't imagine what kind of creature would live in a swamp, it was still possible. For a moment, Akiko debated on whether she should continue on or take the path. Sure the swamp was full of many dangers, but what if that trail led her to something far worse? She was about to continue on, when a pair of eyes came up out of the water and began to make their way towards her. Without a second thought. The mare hurried on down the path as quickly as she could without falling.
Not too far down the path, the pixie came to the entrance of a cave. Before she could convince herself to turn around, she entered. She only hoped that she hadn't ended up making the wrong decision.

Cereus Zeridae stood silently for a moment, focusing on the entrance to his home. Once again, his serpent Monty continued to ignore him. The stallion heaved a little sigh at the creature. He really did enjoy having the company, but it was terribly lonesome when he refused to acknowledge him. Perhaps one of these days he might warm up to him more? After all, the snake was still here wasn't he? It wasn't as if Cereus kept the creature here against its' own free will. No, Monty could leave at any point if he wanted to. Perhaps the creature did care for him in his own way then?
Cereus was so completely caught up in his thoughts that he almost didn't notice the tiny little mare that barged into his cave. What on earth was a pixie doing here? She certainly appeared to be lost, perhaps he might have a new toy to play with? Oh yes, Cereus certainly enjoyed the thought of having a new toy. How long had it been since he had had any company? Far too long if he couldn't remember. "Why hello there." He greeted the mare from the shadows. Carefully trying not to frighten her off.

Akiko waited a few moments for her eyesight to adjust to the dark cave. Sure it had been dark out in the swamp, but in here there wasn't even a bit of moonlight. Would she be able to stay in here until morning? What if there was some other creature lurking in here? It wouldn't do her any good to go running into any traps now would it? Unfortunately it didn't seem that the mare had much of a choice in the matter. If she were to leave the cave she would most certainly get lost within the swamp. She also knew that there were creatures out there that would most certainly love to eat her as a snack. Perhaps whatever was in this cave wouldn't be quite so bad compared to her other possibilities.
The little mare was about to allow herself to relax when she heard a voice from behind her. Well then, that answered one question. She most definitely was not alone. "H-hello." She stuttered into the darkness. Backing herself up a bit so she could turn around and face whoever was talking to her. "I-I'm sorry if I disturbed you." She continued on, her voice shaking with fear. Who was this? Who was speaking to her? Did they mean her any harm? "I'll just be on my way and I won't trouble you any further. I was only looking for shelter for the night." The mare began to make her way back out of the cave. Sure she needed shelter, but it certainly wasn't worth angering this mysterious being and risking her life.

The stallion bared his fangs in a twisted grin while he watched the mare stumble about in the dark. He could tell that her eyes were not yet adjusted to the dark and she appeared to be having quite some trouble finding her way around. Times like this only further proved to him how superior his genetics were. Here this mare was, floundering around in the dark because she couldn't see, yet he could see every bit as well as if it were daytime. The stallion let out a little chuckle at her helplessness.
"Oh it's quite alright." He responded to her as he moved his body to block the entrance to his cave. Monty and I certainly do enjoy the company. Not to mention it is rather dangerous out there. Such a sweet thing as yourself would only end up in some bad situations out there. Perhaps you should just sit tight for the night? Trust me, I don't bite." He paused for a dramatic effect. "Much." Cereus continued on chuckling.

With her eyesight adjusting, Akiko turned to face the stallion. She could just make out his shape but not much more. He certainly didn't act as if he was going to harm her. Then again you never could tell with such strange stallions. Perhaps he did hold some ill intent towards her? As the mare studied him, she could make out the cave entrance just beyond his body. It seemed as if he wasn't giving her much of a choice. Stay with him for the night, or try to fight past him. The little mare looked down at her tiny little body. She didn't stand a chance against this stallion. Not if it came to a fight. Perhaps she could try to flee later, try to outsmart him. If he lived in a place such as this, there was a good chance he wasn't awake for very much of the day. Maybe she could make her escape then? Yes, that would be her best bet. But what of this Monty? Who was he? Would he harm her or hinder her escape? The little filly frantically looked around the cave in search for anyone else. Yet she saw no one. Perhaps this stallion was mad?
"Who is Monty?" She asked, trying to be as polite and friendly as possible. It wouldn't do to go getting herself into any trouble now. Not if this stallion didn't intend to harm her, at least not immediately.
