He smiled, gaze flicking to the smudge as he reflexively rubbed it away. He mentally smacked himself, he should stop acting so instinctual. Inspecting the sketched, he nodded approvingly, "That's really good!" He nodded, "You haven't said much though... Is there anything you think should be there? You're helping after all, so you're input would be appreciated." He wanted to give her a chance to add her two cents before he added more ideas.

She chuckled as he rubbed the charcoal from her nose and rubbed the remaining soot from her fingertips. Danna smiled at the drawing and slowly cocked her head to one side. "There's one thing I would like to add... in solid gold..." and as she said these last three words she traced the shape of a heart at the dryad's core. "Life the sentinel of nature, protecting the good, the ever-renewing life." Danna looked up from the drawing, images of it dancing and swirling about Astaroth still whirling in colour in her head. "She needs a name..." She murmured, catching his glance and smiling.

He laughed, "That completes her I think. And a name... something befitting of her grandeur..." He trailed off, thinking. The name had to perfect, something that rang with her essence. But what? He ruffled through his memory, looking for something appropriate. "What about.... Yggdrasil? Like the world tree? A supporting and life-giving essence of nature."

Danna didn't say anything in response to that, just grinned, nodded furiously and etched in Yggdrasil in her round script beneath the Golem. She tapped the page softly with the end of her sketching pencil and chewed her lip thoughtfully. "How about a Radius effect? Like a Safe Haven. If you make it to Yggdrasil and touch the Heart of Gold you'll be protected for either a certain number of attacks or a certain amount of damage?"

He nodded, approving of the idea. "Protecting against the attacks would be better so that the attack doesn't actually get through to injure the person.... Spare them the pain." Astaroth was already thinking about the other abilities the Golem would possess. "It can't have only close range abilities though. That would endanger it and those it was assisting.... Hmmm.... The leaves that dance around it would carry a healing breeze to rejuvenate a target..." He sat back, deep in thought. He wanted this to be a useful Golem, not one that only looked pretty.

Danna thought about that one and chewed the end of her pencil. "Hrm, how about the apples can be thrown to a target, to fully restore their health and vigour...but the leaves floating around it could be sent to swirl around a target to shield the target - making it harder to hit - or around an enemy to make it harder for them to see through the screen?" Danna tilted her head, looking at the drawing. "She's got to have at least one offensive ability, don't you think?"

He looked at her sideways, "That's true... what about some sort of snaring attack then? I dislike conflict, you know that. I wouldn't enjoy a Golem with destructive abilities as much." He frowned, thinking over her suggestions, "I like the leaf shield but it's essentially the same thing as getting close to her..... the apple, however, is interesting. Wouldn't such an ability have the potential to backfire though? If it's an apple, even the enemy would be able to make use of that object." He mused, thinking out loud. He liked the apple idea but it seemed too prone to failure - something he couldn't abide by.

"You don't necessarily need to take the apple off Yggdrasil during a fight. You could always pluck some before hand, store them in your bag or in a technoring, or give them to your friends to use. That way your opponent wouldn't be able to intercept them." Danna replied, thinking about it. She liked the idea of the Golden Apples, and wanted to find a way the Golem could use them but still be appropriate to Astaroth. "Alright, so she's not agressive.... But she could have a hold ability. Sort of like a snare, her branches or...or better yet, her roots could come up through the ground - that way it could be a distance ability - and ensnare the opponent. It wouldn't have to hurt them, so you don't need to worry about the violence factor, but it would still delay your opponent. Though, if it was her roots going underground, it would take two turns to complete the move - but then, you could set her up, and work on another move - such as a decoy. What do you think?" She leaned forward on the table a little, resting her elbow down on the wood and resting her chin in her palm.

"That's true... And they would probably make very good apple juice too. A kind of elixir that could potentially be used for potions as well." He nodded, "And the Golden Apples would keep longer then normal apples so they wouldn't have to be picked all that often. Let's keep that."

He rose then, and walked around the table to take a seat opposite Danna. He watched her for a long moment before replying, "That's what I was thinking. A covert action that catches the opponent by surprise." He sat back, gaze turning the ceiling, "So the abilities listed thus far are restorative apples, ensaring roots, strong heart that protects those touching her, and protective wind. Don't forget the strength of will, for resisting magical attacks." He looked at her once more, "Am I correct?" Although it was phrased as a question it was more of a statement.

Falling silent, he merely watched Danna, gaze playing across her hands to linger on the drawing before dancing back up to her eyes. Were they done now?

Willpower Danna wrote in under the list of skills and qualities. "Yes, I'd nearly overlooked that one..." She murmured, half-appologetically. She looked up, and registered that he'd moved seats. Vaguely wondering why she slid the two pieces of parchment across the table to him. "Have a look, let me know if I've forgotten anything. If not, then the design portion of our Golem creation is done. Then it will be up to me to take it to the Golem Incubation Technicians and have her grown. They'll inform us of how frequently her skills can be used, and of their power potency. I'll take care of the incubator until she hatches. Then Yggdrasil will be all yours, and you can raise her to whatever purpose you'd like." Danna smiled, a little mentally weary, but happy and hopeful that Astaroth would like her efforts. She had done this for him, and hoped he'd approve, hoped that he'd grace her with a thankful smile. There was another reason she'd begun on this task, but the reason wouldn't come to mind in the moment.

He took the papers, and glanced over them, checking to make sure the attributes were there and the sketch was good. All seemed in order. Settling them in his hands, he then tapped them on the table to line them up and returned them to Danna. At first he seemed merely approving but as he sat back, he smiled appreciatively, nodding. "Looks perfect to me. You're a talented artist Danna. Thank-you." That smile turned into a warmer one, a special one that was meant only for her his closest friend.

"Are you going to design your own? If not..." he trailed off, catching himself before he spoke without again. He was continually doing that around Danna it seemed. He didn't like blurting things out that weren't necessarily what he meant or wanted. "If not, I can share her with you. Since you'll be putting so much effort into growing her...." The more he thought about it, the less he thought it a fair trade - he was coming out far on top and she was being left with next to nothing for thanks. That made something inside him twist angrily.

Danna fairly glowed with happiness when Astaroth smiled for her; he was so awe-inspiringly beautiful when he smiled, she nearly couldn't cope with it. "I'm making her for you," Danna replied softly, shaking her head a little, her hair sliding over both shoulders to frame her face. She fought with it awkwardly, trying to pull it back without tugging on it and having little success. "Although I would like to visit her, and see her in action, if I may." She paused, then added a little conspiratorily. "I've been working on one of my own for a while now, trying to get it right... I chose the Fallout Energy Shard." She smiled and gave a quick shrug to her shoulders and she grinned to herself. She was excited to have a Golem of her own, she just hadn't fully hammered it out yet, and she didn't want to rush ahead unless it was perfect.

As Danna fought with her hair, Astaroth's eyes narrowed slightly, a secretive look shadowing his face for a moment. Yes, that hair ornament would serve a valuable function - keeping her hair off her beautiful face. He paused, wondering where that thought had come from. He hadn't actually stopped to admire her before and looked away as he found himself doing just that.

What had she said? He frowned, thinking. He'd only really been listening to the sound of her voice and not what she'd actually been saying. Looking slightly guilty, he asked, having failed at guessing what she'd said, "Pardon me? I.... didn't catch that last part." He didn't want to admit to not having heard the entirety of she'd said. He hoped it hadn't been anything important. That would be embarrassingly awkward.

Danna blinked in faint surprise. She'd never known Astaroth to not catch absolutely everything at first glance. Had he been distracted by something? "It's not that important," She murmured, shrugging slightly. "Just talking about a Golem I've been working on." She watched him quietly, a faint smile tugging the corners of her mouth up. The sheen of his silvery skin was nearly pearlescent in the light of the Library, making him seem to glow in contrast to the dusty shadows of the old volumes on the shelves behind him.

He nodded, "I see. Which Golem? I'd like to see your ideas once your finished, if you don't mind. I enjoyed working with you." He sat back, watching her as well. He was... comfortable. Yes that was the word, comfortable. Astaroth didn't think twice about relaxing in her company now. It was strange. Running a hand through his hair, he flicked his back swept bangs back into place and smiled at her, hopeful that she'd let him see her work.
