When Ulla made her offer for Snagems to join her on her trip to the Fairy Realm, Keiko stepped up, wanting to keep the only child she had access to safe as much as she could. I chose to not accept the offer, however. There were other matters I wished to attend to. I gave the two one last hug before I headed upstairs, towards the roof.

Once in the Fairy Realm, Keiko made sure to stick by Ulla's side. She had no illusions that anything would threaten Ulla here, but her desire to protect Ulla went beyond all reason. However, she made sure to avoid getting in Ulla's way, and to not obstruct the Fairy Child at all.

Crystal would pause here and sigh, shaking her head as she realized she started getting off on a tangent. “Sorry. Back to the topic, I couldn’t tell you how it felt on my end. However, I kind of wonder, actually. You felt like I’d rip right through if you pushed hard enough… What would happen if we both did, though?” Now her index finger rested on her lips, wondering that. It probably wouldn’t be easy, almost certainly, but what if there was pressure on both sides? “And would that mean…? No, that seems almost ridiculous. Light, though, I thought I didn’t completely understand Ultra Space before. Ugh. This potential Distortion World link throws even my more simplistic understanding of it out the window."

Darts got the sense Crystal was being a bit evasive here, she was talking herself in circles to the point where he was getting dizzy. "Woah, woah...." He shakes his hands in front of himself a little bit, bringing the Solgaleo hybrid's musings to a pause. "You're talking at the middle there like you did feel something, but you're telling me at the end now that you can't tell me how it felt. What's the truth?" His jacket shakes a little bit, the collar fluttering almost like the hackles on an agitated Litten as he gets annoyed. He wasn't mad at her per se, it's just given the rocky attitude between the pair back at Devon and Crystal sucker punching him earlier in the year here he was trying to open up and she's over here trying to be evasive. He didn't have to have shared any of this with her, he's the one opening up trying to mend bridges and now it seemed like she was playing games again.

Sub smiled at Ulla and shook his head before responding to her offer to join her in the Fairy Realm. "No, I'm sorry. I need to hang here and hold down the fort, so to speak. Tell your master I said hi." He said with a wry grin, waving Ulla offer as she disappeared into the Fairy Ring she had created.

"Spritz? Spritz zee zee!" A Spritzee would react to Ulla question first, the little bird taking off across the field and disappearing into the forest beyond.

Ulla and co wouldn't wait long as a stiff breeze graced the field, causing the flowers to gently bend. With the breeze came a pink powder-like energy that swirled together in front of Ulla and rapidly took on the form of her teacher, the Grand Fairy Master himself, the Herald of Life, Succellus. "Back already, young one?" The man of impossible age asked as he looked down upon her, his fingers drumming against his Evergrow Wood staff. "And you brought company, hello." He said as he acknowledged Keiko's presence with a nod. "I take it this concerns the affairs of the mortal realm if you brought another. Speak child, what do you request of the fae this time?" He asked in a stern but not cruel voice, the tone of someone that had no problem helping but preferred to just cut right to the chase.

The announcement had Deo in disbelief. The trial was to be done by gym leaders? What was this, a trial by fire? A trial by battle? He could not take it. Not anymore.

"Sub" Deo asked his leader "I need to speak to you privately" his face with great concern and with his posture like he needed to get something off his chest and it had to be done soon.

He knew for certain that Sub could pull a rabbit out of the hat with this one. But what of the others? Will they conspire against him should he be caught? This was Deo's moment of judgement, not by the officials of the law, but by the very team that took him in and treated him like family. What was Deo to do with the fact that he could be expelled from SNAGEM and worse, be caught as a spy within their ranks? Who knows....

"Hm? Oh hey Deo." Sub said, perking up as the towering hybrid approached and called out to him, the much smaller looking up at the Luxray hybrid with a look of confusion. It wasn't often Deo would just come up to him out of nowhere and ask to speak, let alone privately. In fact, was this the first time? Dismissing that thought he nodded at Deo. "Yeah, sure. How about we head up stairs to the arcade? If you got anything grim to tell me we can at least play some Gulp-Man to liven up the mood right after!" He said, reaching up and patting Deo on the arm as he couldn't reach his shoulder.

The Snagem leader would then head for the stairs, proceeding up them to the next floor, expecting Deo to follow. Once he arrived on the second floor the man would step a ways into the arcade and stop right in front of an old Gulp-Man machine, eying the old school artwork of a yellow Gulpin chasing down different colored Shuppets. Deciding against playing a game of it right now he turned to face Deo as he approached him. "So, what's up?"

Deo hesitated at first to say anything, but he took one deep breath and exhaled. Then he started...
"When we were at the Main HQ getting interrogated they asked if I would want to join the force again. I hesitated at first, knowing i would get out of trouble. At the same time, if I accepted they would drop the charges against me. I was a fool now that I think of it, but I made the deal and they told me to keep my eyes and ears open and they would report to me on what to do next through this..." Deo would then pull out but not activate the walkie-talkie handed to him by SWIPE. "You see, I wanted to cause less trouble. However, they mentioned keywords like my Grandmother, Family, and the like. I have been conflicted since I got with the team and now I see my allegiance is with SNAGEM. I don't know what to do, or how to go on. What do I do? I don't want to throw the team under the bus, but now it seems either way, I will face the wrath of someone. I just wanted to find out who did this to me, why, and for what." He would sloop onto the arcade machine and slide down to where he was sitting on the floor, with guilt, shame, and more importantly, doom in his expressions and his tearful eyes. "I am not a cop anymore, I can't be a cop anymore"

Odd had returned to watching over Lykas after the meeting, processing everything Sub had said as well as the fact he and Lykas had a chance to get Libelle back. He knew they weren't the only ones with children to be concerned about but at this particular moment, having theirs returned to them was the primary concern on his mind. As he checked in on his comatose husband, he thought about ways he might be able to help the team as a whole prepare for the upcoming trial. Blindness to most things left him unable to assist with their appearance, so that wasn't an option, sadly. Could he remember anyone that might be willing to speak on their behalf? Maybe he could try and rally some character witnesses to their defense? Sadly, his memory failed him at the moment, too worried about Lykas and Libelle to recall anyone in particular. He sighed as he sensed Lykas' soul flickering slightly. Hopefully that was a sign he'd be waking up soon since it didn't seem to be getting weaker, rather it flickered stronger for a moment before fading back to it's weaker state.

Wren wandered back to the rooftop garden, thinking about ways to prepare, himself. He considered seeking out character witnesses, himself, but the only ones he was certain off had already aided them all that could be offered, it seemed. The only other thing he felt could be done was to offer financial aid to others with ideas that might need it. "Actually..." He realized. "I wonder if I could help get the SNAG network working again?" He pondered, realizing that while it didn't directly assist with preparing for the trial, getting communication back online for the team was likely his best option.

Somewhere within the temporary home of the Snagems, a particular eye-like crystal wobbled gently. What in the world was happening with it?

He didn't have to have shared any of this with her, he's the one opening up trying to mend bridges and now it seemed like she was playing games again.

Crystal very nearly flinched when Darts verbally jumped at her. “I-I…” Well, here it was. Not in any sort of anomaly, but in just how she responded. Now she wished she hadn’t actually noticed it back in the tower. Then she knew she couldn't be as wishy washy as she apparently came off as. Not her intention, but once again, she blundered her way into pissing off Darts once again. She wasn't even trying this time, she was trying to be cordial, at least. Darts could see the realization hit her in real time, as her shoulders slumped and her ears laid low on her head. "Light, I'm always going to be the issue, aren't I," she muttered to her self, looking up ad the ceiling. Now, was she going to even remotely recover this? Truthfully, she doubted it, knowing how her current grace with things were. Which amounted to absolutely zero.

"I can't go into nearly as much detail as you were able to," she finally started, looking up at the ceiling still. "I was honestly just trying to pour as much focus into Sunsteel Strike to not somehow have something else bad happen. Because, let's be honest, when has anything good come of my actions lately? Especially when they involve Ultra Space?" Shaking her head before the Solgaleo hybrid continued down that self wallowing road, she decided she might as well see if she dug her self out or deeper.

"What I can say about what I felt, is that it was like..." Crystal's gaze turned toward her hands as she spun them around each other, trying to figure out her words. "There was a shadowy presence next to me, one that I obviously couldn't see. I thought it was odd, but I didn't put things together until I realized you wound up right next to me. I was more focused on trying not to get crushed by those cubes. I didn't even see you take off yourself." The floor became the next target of her gaze, though it just happened to be where it landed now. Any fight she may have had was just shot now, as the thought that was beginning to creep into her mind again was now at the forefront. "More scared of screwing up again, I can't even pay close attention to things happening around me," she muttered, "and I keep stumbling anyways."

Finally her gaze returned to Darts, but her gaze probably held more hurt and tiredness than anything else. More of the latter than the former. "Look, I..." She looked down for a moment before a small sigh came out, her gaze returning to Darts. "I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to blow smoke or anything. I'm trying to be civil here. Especially when... I suppose everyone's reaction to me blowing you and Sub out at Devon just showed me that I'm the issue. ...Sorry for that as well."

Sub cocked an eyebrow at Deo as he explained the situation to him, the Snagem leader instinctively caressing a Dusk Ball on his belt, not actively planning to pull it off and release whatever was inside. If someone had came to him just a few years ago and even implied such treachery the Dark One would have made quick work of him here and now but he was different these days, had to be. Eying the walkie-talkie but never reaching for it the man looked from it to Deo, a scowl appearing on his face as he stood there in silence for several seconds, thinking about how he should react to this news.

"Allegiances are fickle things." Sub began as he took his hand off his Dusk Ball, turning away from Deo and towards the Gulp-Man machine. Fishing around in his pockets he searched for a Pokedollar coin, eventually being successful. Taking out the coin he inserted it into the machine to pay for a game of Gulp-Man, the game's hero immediately appearing on the screen to chase after some Shuppet as the words 'Ready Player One' flashed in front of the Dark One. "You hold allegiances towards your grandmother, your family in general and even yourself in the form of your morals." He said, using his left free hand to count off each 'allegiance' with his fingers, using his right hand to start his game, the Gulpin character giving off a 'waka waka' in response. "And I suppose Snagem, at least that's what you claim." This time he looked over his shoulder to meet Deo's gaze, searching for doubt in his eyes. Once satisfied with what he saw he turned back to the arcade.

Controlling Gulp-Man Sub ran away from the menacing Shuppet that threatened to destroy him, not unlike SWIPE chasing him and his team. In Gulp-Man there was a way to fight back against your pursuers, just eat one of the several berries dotting the maze to weaken the pursuers and devour them with Gulp-Man. It may not be that easy in real life but maybe there were special 'berries' he could obtain that might weaken SWIPE so that he could devour, destroy, them. "Funny thing about allegiances though, they can be avenues of weakness for both those that hold them and those they are given to. Like an open door of the heart they can let things in, like love, care and even...darker...things." He said, turning back to smile at Deo as Gulp-Man ate a Shuppet right after having consumed a Sitrus Berry.

"Keep that walkie-talkie Deo, I have a feeling we can make use of it and your little deal with SWIPE. They wanted to test your allegiance to Team Snagem and whether it was stronger than the love for your family. Let them test you, play their game, and let's find out how far they are willing to take this. If your allegiance to the team is as strong as you say it is then you will not falter, you will be able to string them along as long as they are willing to let you and when the time is right you're going to-" Gulp-Man would snap up the fourth and final Shuppet, claiming victory over his former pursuers and Sub winning his game. With that finished he turned completely around towards Deo and stepped up towards him, patting his on the arm.

"-hang them with their own scheme." He said with a chuckle as he proceeded to walk past Deo. "Your allegiance to Snagem will always be paid in kind, Deo, that much I can promise you. I can also give you my word that one day we will find out what who is responsible for your current state and they will face retribution for what they did. I give you my word on that and doing everything I can to make sure your loved ones are safe." The man would then look back over his shoulder one more time as he stopped at the top of the stairs before heading down, looking Deo in the eyes again for signs of faltering before speaking again. "Just don't cross this family, Deo. Please, don't." With that he turned and headed back down the stairs, headed back to the lobby below.

Deo felt a wave of relief from the news. He put back the walkie talkie and proceeded to stand up. He followed Sub back downstairs, ducking to fit through the door frames. With a renewed sense of what to do, he proceeded to go try to find a nice place to nap. It did not make sense at the time, but a wave of guilt was lifted off Deo's shoulders and he could finally take a well deserved cat nap. His yawn was soft but noticeable by his large jaw opening wide and closing real quick. He went to his cot, by the window where the sun was shining in and curled up and slept cozy, quiet, and peaceful

"Yes only for a moment master." Ulla said as she was about to tell him what has happened. But, it looks like he already knew about them. "I'm not even surprised but yes....How is it possible for my mother and others that were suppose to be in a deep slumber...alive once again?" She asked, hoping he would have all the answers. "We'd also like to ask for your aid as a character witness. I know that is close to impossible. But your words will help us immensely."

Ulla then looked at Keiko. "This is my adoptive mother Keiko. She also encountered someone who's personality was very different from the last time she encountered her."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 14, 2025 11:54 pm

"Hi," Keiko said as she waved to the Master of this realm, but she had nothing else to add to Ulla's explanation. Her experiences with Lovrina really shouldn't be discussed in polite company, especially when little ears were around.

I suppose everyone's reaction to me blowing you and Sub out at Devon just showed me that I'm the issue. ...Sorry for that as well."

Hearing the long-time comrade in front of him stumbling through her explanation, as well as her apology, Darts came to a rather sudden and violent conclusion. He was being a bit of a d**k.

His thoughts drifted back to the early days of himself in his new Giratina body, all those years ago, meditating under waterfalls with Teacher, carrying sacks of flour for Drasna, and the adventures with the team, and he knew underpinning it all was a deep current of insecurity. Was he doing the right thing? Was he going to go out of control and hurt somebody? Was he even human any more? Did he belong here? And now, in real time, somebody else was struggling with those thoughts and feelings in the very same way as he had, maybe even more acutely without Darts' ego to help buoy themselves up and out of the waters of doubt. Not just because they were both intradimensional creatures, of a sort, but because both of them had their lives violently changed in a way neither of them asked for. She, tripping through the dimensions, he, violently sucked away from this one without regard for his own decisions.

The jacket he wore constantly hadn't been as much of a liability lately as he had slowly started to become used to its anchoring presence - proving it was his prized possession after all - but it took time and training and focus to still be able to maintain his sanity in the middle of the cyclone that this body was, and no doubt Crystal having gone from zero to one hundred in that same fashion was just getting used to pressing on the gas.

He doesn't express any of that, outwardly. The gambler had never been much of one to go into express details about his feelings, at least not publicly. But he does do something very uncharacteristic. Darts sweeps the Solgaleo hybrid into a hug, his jacket curling around her in a sort of comforting fashion as he accepts her apology. It lingers for a second or two, and then he steps back with a curt little salute by his crest as he starts to make his way to check on Ogerpon.

"Don't worry about screwing things up," He advises her, the usual chuckle in his voice as he throws his wisdom back over his shoulder. "Odds are good I've gotten to do it before you did." And with that, he slips into the med bay and is out of sight in mere moments.

Succellus frowned as he listened to Ulla's concerning statements, ignoring her request for the time being as thoughts swirled in his mind upon receiving the news about her mother as well as the personalities of others. Finding his manners he turned his focus back to Keiko and again gave her a nod of acknowledgement as they were properly introduced. "Pleasure to meet you. They call me Grand Fairy Master Succellus, Guardian of the Fae and Herald of Life." He said, giving Keiko his full title.

With his sense of good etiquette satiated he turned his focus back to Ulla, however he would note answer her with words, at least not immediately. Putting his staff in front of him he slammed it onto the ground, releasing a surge of Fairy energy from it which would rush down the staff and disappear into the soil beneath their feet. A second later, with little fanfare, what looked like tree roots make of pure Fairy energy rose up from the ground and quickly pierced into Ulla's chest and yet the girl wouldn't have noticed a thing if she had seen the 'root' go in with her own eyes. There was no pain, no sensation at all. The other end of the root would rise out of the ground further and on either side of it, connected by offshoots of the root, appeared two blue-ish spirits that looked just like her parents. What was all this?

"Your mother is alive, as they always have been, young one." He said as he walked along the root and eyed the 'spirit' that looked like her mother. "All living things are connected to the Tree of Life, Lord Xerneas. As his herald I can see all living things and their place in the Roots of Life. The fact that we both can see your mother's soul before us in the roots is confirmation that yes, she is indeed alive. When you came to me I look deep into your roots, even then I saw both your parents." He said, gesturing to the apparition of her mother. That confirmed one thing, in spite of the second guessing from her teammates her gut instinct was true; that really was her mother back at Realgam. Not a hologram, not any other trick, really her. But it still didn't answer the how and the why.

"And yet...I feel it within your heart. Grief, loss...your heart tells me otherwise. You've always known your mother to be departed, returned to the Roots of Life to fertilize the Tree..." With a wave of his hand Succellus dispelled the root construct and the spirits of her parents, turning away from both Ulla and Keiko as he began to walk towards the forest he originally appeared from. "Something is wrong here, wrong even with my own recollection and yet..." He said, stealing a glance of Ulla over his shoulder before resuming his walk. "I trust your heart young one...follow me, we shall consult the Tree itself for more answers."

-----

The trio would pass through the Forest of Eternity for what seemed like an actual eternity to Keiko, less long for Ulla and mere seconds to Succellus, how long the journey and expanse of the forest felt based on how aligned with the fae one was.

Now standing in front of the towering white Tree of Life, perfectly centered in a circle clearing of the forest, Succellus would fall to both knees as he bowed before the tree. "Lord Xerneas, Giver of Life, we come requesting aid." He said, forehead pressed into the soil. Were they suppose to do the same?

The X on the tree would glow seconds later in response to Succellus quest, a faint humming emitting as well. The Grand Fairy Master would hear this and lift his head up, giving the tree a nod before rising to his feet and turning around to face the other two. "Lord Xerneas has blessed us and shall aid us as he can in his slumbering state." He informed them before turning back to the Tree of Life. "Lord Xerneas, my protege, your future herald, has come to us with alarming news. Her heart is true, from her perspective her once deceased mother lives again. My lord, my own memory tells me otherwise, that her mother has yet to return to you. By your mercy please aid us in reconciling this discrepancy, for your humble heralds." Succellus called out to the tree, holding his staff out in front of him as he lowered his head.

Seconds would past with nothing and then all the sudden a lot of something. A fierce gust of wind would blow through the forest and created a whirlwind concentrated just around Succellus, leaves from the trees gathering in it. Succellus would throw his head back in that moment and his eyes would be flung open, revealing them to be glowing with pink energy. For several seconds more Succellus would remain in his whirlwind in the same position with his eyes glowing. However just as suddenly as it happened it would end as the whirlwind disappeared, the leaves fell to the ground and Succellus let out a gasp as he stood up straight and his eyes returned to normal. Immediately Ulla could see his troubled face and sense his equally troubled heart.

"I...I don't...know..." He said in an alarmed tone. "Something is wrong, young one, very wrong, however I do not...know..." Succellus said, looking towards the tree. "Xerneas rules over life and only life. From it all things are born and it is through its counterpart, Yveltal, where things are returned to the earth and the Roots of Life. As far as Lord Xerneas is concerned your mother never returned, simply born into the world and that is it, Lord Yveltal has not returned her spirit...yet." He explained, gripping his staff tighter than normal. "...however...upon closer inspection...the roots, they are...wrong...I can't fully explain it. I have never encountered something like this before. They are too...perfect...like a plant grown in a nursery, its branches trained to grow a certain way. This will require much more investigating on my behalf to discern what this could mean."

Without waiting for her reaction Succellus walked up to the Tree of Life, pressing his hand against it and closing his eyes, however still speaking to Ulla and Keiko. "Forgive me, young one, I cannot leave the realm, not with such an alarming matter made apparent to me. I must consult with Lord Xerneas further and figure out what is going on in here. Whatever matters you must handle in the mortal realm are yours and your friends to deal with. You will understand why this must be so when it's your time to be herald. Now please...leave me so that I might commune with our lord. You can find the way out, I trust." He said as a faint pink glow began to surround him. Ulla has seen this before, he was about to spiritually go inside the tree. She would know it would do no good to argue with him further. It was time to leave.

Keiko panicked when the pink roots pierced Ulla. The fact that Ulla seemed unharmed and her energy didn't change in the slightest tempered her fear, but she couldn't help but worry at such a sight. When the roots retracted, Keiko looked Ulla over. The Fairy Child seemed file, yet she couldn't help but ask. "Are you okay?"

Regardless of Ulla's response, Keiko would follow the current and future heralds through the forest. The absurdly long walk was taxing to her, but she didn't want to potentially make things worse by complaining, so she said nothing. Upon reaching their destination, Keiko sat down and rested as Succellus did his thing.

While she wasn't expecting the end result, she wasn't surprised. A LOT of things seemed to be wrong lately. She honestly wondered if there was anything the master of the Fairy Realm could do at this point, though it wasn't like she was familiar with how things in this place worked to begin with. Though, to be fair, she equally wondered if there was anything the team could do to set the world right. She wasn't sure if being sent to the past screwed things up or if it had something to do with the Ultra Beasts they fought, but when it came to stuff like that, she worried that trying to fix things might just make things worse in the process. If only they knew what was causing all this...

Keiko shook that train of thought and stood up. Staying here definitely wasn't going to solve anything. "Let's go," she said gently, ready to take that god-awfully long trip through the forest so they could go back to Trainer HIll.
