Now on the run from SWIPE, and forced to abandon their Mt. Silver headquarters for the time being, Team Snagem has set up a temporary headquarters in the long since shutdown Trainer Hill on Route 111 in Hoenn. While the building is in heavy disrepair from being abandoned and used as a hide out for criminals at one point it will have to suffice as a place of sanctuary for the team for the time being.

-----

User Image

-Current state of building-

Outside/General: The entire tower was originally a project by the Trick Master to make something similar to Realgam Tower in Hoenn. The tower is fitted with tech derived from the Holo-Caster to hide the entrance. An energy dampener is also fitted to mask the energy signatures of those inside, however this disrupts teleportation similar to a scrambler and must be temporarily deactivated to teleport from the tower.

Lobby: Dirty, outside elements have come in. Needs repair.

Kitchen: Bare bones and dusty with remnants of evolved Cascoons. Has a still working fridge, an old oven and some plastic utensils and paper plates left behind. No food.

Beds: Clean? Just a bunch of army surplus cots. Not very comfortable.

Basement: Clean, the hidden tunnel that connected to the Game Corner in Mauville has since been collapsed and sealed. Contains GRAY's server with maintenance provided by STAK. Also contains access to the pumps for the tower's geothermal generators.

1F: The arcade. Filled mostly with the old discarded games from the former Game Corner in Mauville as well as machines from Kanto and Johto.

2F: The Battle Sim, runs on the exact same technology of the Battle Sim that used to be found in Realgam Tower before Ein took over. Still has a few Battle CDs too.

3F: The Trick Maze, a room designed to be capable of altering its state to form various mazes and puzzles designed by the Trick Master himself. Was the first room he remodeled and used as an opportunity to try new things. Careful, the room kind of has a mind of its own, even GRAY isn't sure how it works.

4F: The dining room, meant to be the 'crown jewel' of this tower where guests could enjoy a five-star meal overlooking the Hoenn desert. It has all the tables and such you'd find in a dining room however that's about it, not much to see here other than the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the desert. Cleanest place in the tower though.

Rooftop: Intended to be a meticulously maintained garden to provide fresh produce for the tower, now the 'garden' is overran with weeds and a flock of Taillow.

Sub would be one of the last members to enter Trainer Hill, looking rough and exhausted as the man was forced to fend off many Aqua, Magma and SWIPE grunts/agents with all of them having their own personal reasons to take shots at Sub. Walking past his teammates he found an old cooler to sit on and let out an exhausted sigh. With that he turned to Blizzard and spoke. "We stay here." He said simply looking around for a bit, eying his surroundings. "They won't be able to clean up the mess with Aqua and Magma all that quick and now the Hoenn government will be asking them some questions, the government who at last check are still sympathetic to us otherwise they would have shut the embassy down already. I don't think they will be too keen to let SWIPE just do whatever they want, not until they get some questions answered and guarantees. You'll notice there were no local forces in their ranks."

"Besides, if you're still worried about them just coming in here and snatching us up there is a lot more to this place than you think. Our good friend the Trick Master helped out with that." Sub said with a grin.

"A lot...ore...ick...ster...the dow...floors...and- bzzt..." GRAY tried to say from the broken intercom system, causing Sub to look up and grumble.

"I guess Trick Master didn't get to fixing that, a minor problem." Sub shook his head and stood up. "If I remember right there is a hidden room built into the side of the mountain surrounding the desert, the Trick Master designing it as a place for us to safely sleep, the only possible entrance being Trainer Hill itself." As he said that he began to walk towards the east side of the room, feeling the wall for something, anything. "Hey GRAY? Can you hear me? Did you get access to-"

Ca-c***k!

The wall would part open as two thick steel pieces and revealed a doorway giving access to a large open room lined with cots on either side of the room, complete with pillows and sheets. It wasn't luxurious but it would make do.

"Ta...da...? Heh..." Sub said, gesturing to the less than impressive sleeping arrangement.

As expected, by the time I got Trainer Hill Keiko had enough time to get comfortable. Agility had its perks, it seemed. I sat beside her and we talked about personal things (mostly just worrying about our daughters still at the main HQ) before Sub eventually made it into the building. We then listened to Sub for a while before GRAY tried to talk. That damaged intercom really grinded my gears - sure, I rarely ever got along with GRAY, but not being able to make out what he was trying to say was ever so slightly more annoying than listening to him whine.

Standing up, I walked up to the damaged intercom and took some tools out of my bag - Some insulated rubber gloves, a screwdriver, a wirecutter, and a few other things. I then got the intercom open and made sure to temporarily disable any electricity entering the appliance before I started working on repairing it. I might not be an engineer, but I studied quite a few things of that nature at the Academy, and was confident I could get the intercom in a better state than I found it in, if nothing else. While I worked, Keiko took notice of the new sleeping arrangements and shrugged. "Better than the accommodations SWIPE provided us," she pointed out.

"Something about downstairs floors, I think?" Lykas answered a moment after Sub had begun explaining their new arrangements had more safety features than expected, Odd asking about the distorted response from GRAY. "I can't really tell, either. Too many words, that time."

"Damn..." Odd swore quietly.

The two had only just begun to talk about their own thoughts on what to do about the Mt. Silver HQ and getting those left behind out of there, specifically Doc Owl and and the kids, before Sub's arrival and so they had put that conversation aside to listen to Sub. When he mentioned a safehouse to sleep in, they both breathed another sigh of relief. Good. At least one night with a lot of stress off most of the team's shoulders. Four members would be up half the night with worry no matter how physically exhausted they were or how safe they were but if everyone else was well rested in the morning, there would be people that could do something about it if a plan could be formed at that point.

They both turned to look at Terashi and Keiko, one of them more than the other, knowing they had similar concerns to their own.

Aile would frown when she heard GRAY through the speaker. It was good that he seemed to be hooked up, but the intercom maintenance was… lacking. Then the hidden doors opened to reveal… well… It was better than sleeping on the floor. “I’m not gonna complain. It’s a place to sleep without SWIPE watching.”

Crystal remained quiet through all of that, tilting her head when she saw the one room. “...Presumably there’s more than just this one room here. Not that I’m not grateful to the sleeping quarters, but, this place doesn’t seem to have the normal amenities to host semi-long term residents normally.” Her eyes would glance to the others around, tail flicking under her skirt. The lack of personal space made sense for an emergency HQ, this wasn’t supposed to be a final landing spot. However, somewhere else to clean up, a kitchen of some sort, and probably a medical area made sense for them to have as well. Though, the last one could be the lost likely to be left out.

Aile, while others were talking, decided she was going to claim one of the cots and sat down on it. Maybe helping Kuat keep his Mega form wasn’t the greatest idea, because all she wanted to do was sleep now. If they were going to get the full tour, she would keep herself going. Otherwise, she was probably just going to curl up under a blanket and sleep at that point. She’d probably drift off pretty quick, too, all things considered.

Monique walked into the backup headquarters with apprehension. The building was a time warp back some 20 years, being as it was a short-lived battle facility trapped in its era. It was like one of those urban exploration videos, except she was in it.

The accommodations were, as to be expected, spartan, a row of cots. She looked at the other Snagems, inspecting the quarters, and at Kalama. "Well..." She didn't feel comfortable sleeping in this space without her Marowak out of its Poké Ball. After all, Kalama was a Ghost-type and didn't need to truly sleep like she did. She'd spent a lot of nights sleeping with her or her old Oricorio on guard. Of course, she didn't have Oricorio with her, so the Bone Keeper Pokémon it was. "Plus, you'll make a good nightlight."

She sat on the cot and hoped that, with GRAY apparently around, she could finally switch out her Pokémon, get her Wyrdeer out or something. Much rather Kia than that Tauros that, at times, she felt she could barely control. But, of course, that would mean they'd be on the run again.

I looked over towards where Sub had the beds and whatnot for the Snagems to lay their heads on and I couldn’t help but to sigh out to myself. “Just like the start of everything…” I silently mused to myself. The doors would come open again and it seemed to be the rest of the Snagems making their way into the panic headquarters. I would push myself off the wall, albeit warily, seeing the others try to get over what transpired over the past day. If they could, that was.

Tristen would bring up the rear of it all, looking out behind him then closed the door once he was sure that everyone had made it in. “I think we managed to get SWIPE off our tails for right now. Though if WHITE was anyone to go by, next time they come at us, they’ll be back with a vengeance. Man, just what was with that guy?”

“What was going on?” I asked, not too aware of what happened in the back since I was still trying to cover everyone in the front.

“Before we made it to the embassy, I ended up fighting with the big guy. WHITE. Thunderbolted him really hard then snagged one of his Type: Null…”

“Back up. One of his? He has more than one of those freaky looking Pokémon?” I asked.

“Yea, at least two more that we know of now. Didn’t find out until he came after us on this route still messed up from yesterday. He probably would have stood and fight still, but that lady took him away.” Tristen said. “Aile and Crystal saw it, too.” I looked over towards Sub for a second then sighed out once more, still trying to recollect myself.

“Okay…good to know, I guess.” I said. “Did Freth make the trip here okay?” I then asked. That right at the moment was probably more important than anything right now to me.

Brian and Rachel arrived not long after some of the front runners, with Amber arriving closer to the end. The Froslass hybrid didn't seem winded, probably due to her half Ghost-typing. Once they were on the ground, Brian gave Ace a quick rub down and handed him a poffin he'd made for Fire-types, much to the Rapidash's delight. "I'll work out what flavors ye like later on," he said, rubbing the fiery horse's nose gently. "For right now, ye've earned a long rest. Ye can meet the rest of the team later." The Fire-type didn't complain as Brian recalled him, then looked over at Amber and Rachel. The two were happy to see each other in the relative peace of the place, but how long would the peace truly last?

While the others were settling down, Amber settled in a corner, letting both Spooky and Arauth out of their balls. "Sister, don't do that again!" Spooky said, a scolding tone in his voice. Arauth agreed with her fellow Ghost-type, having become just as protective over Amber as her brother was. "Brother Spooky is right, Sister," the Misdreavus said. "We cannot protect you from inside our Pokeballs. Besides, I don't like being cooped up in that thing all the time." Amber smiled at the two Ghost-types; it had taken time to earn Spooky's trust, but he was one of her most loyal Pokemon. Meeting Arauth had been interesting, but the Misdreavus had easily settled into her role as secondary protector alongside Spooky. "Like I told Spooky, I couldn't take the risk that SWIPE wouldn't take you guys away from me," she said, her voice soft so only her Pokemon could hear her. "I don't like not having you guys out with me, but with everything going on, there wasn't any guarantee that you would have been able to keep up with me and the others if I'd left you out." The three lapsed into silence, comfortable enough with each other to just sit there and enjoy each other's company.

Darts makes it inside shortly after this sentence, still holding Freth tight in his arms, Ogerpon right on his heels and still unwilling to let the Galarian Articuno Hybrid out of her sight.

"I think we managed to make it out of things with little more than a couple jostles if that... we had a pretty good escort." He grins down at his Pokemon with a bit of pride as the trio make their way over to the cots. Gauging the room at a glance, the beds on the far end were closer to the wall outlets and other things that were probably going to make medical care a lot easier. Darts settles Freth onto one of the cots, covering her with some of the blankets and doing his level best to not shake her any more than he had to. Doc Stoja bustles in as soon as the Giratina hybrid puts her down, and seeing Tristen and Blizzard hovering anxiously, he waves his charge over to follow him. "C'mon Ogerpon, let's give them some space." The gambler grunts, attempting to scoot out before anyone does anything embarrassing like thank him or something.

"P-Poooon..." Ogerpon whines, clearly not inclined to leave Freth's side as she turns back and forth between the bed and her trainer, the Wellspring mask sparkling with tears both real and imagined.

"Come on, we can visit her again later. We have to make sure this new HQ is secured unless you want SWIPE to come in and undo all of the fight we just fought." That got the Legend to hop to, her sandaled feet clacking against the tile of the sleeping area as she follows Darts out and back into the entrance room. She knew Just Darts was manipulating her, but he still made a good point. There would be no one better to secure the perimeter than her, so she went along with it.

The dust and dirt was nothing new to Deo. He had to explore abandoned buildings before. He did a quick but discrete clearing of the rooms in the Trainer Hill Base to make sure that nobody could get in, and the perimeter is secured. Making good use of his X-ray vision, he would use it to detect anything or anyone within this old base. He would also make a map of the area to remind himself of what is where. His tail flicked with the curiosity that is building within him. Keeping alert to the sounds and smells, even sights he seen while exploring. He would stay on high alert, not resting heavily until his scan was complete.

As Darts made his way in with Freth in tow, placing Freth down on the best we had available as far as places for her to rest at, Tristen and I made our way to her side looking down at her as she was still out from her brief stand with Kess. Tristen was reminded of his agitation again, giving the annoyed, accusing side-eye, but I wasn’t paying it any mind. All I could do as I looked at her was find somewhere close by to sit and collapse there. The amalgamation of regret and exhaustion provided a proverbial one-two punch to put all fight out of me for the time being. I looked all up and down her, most notably taking note of her ruined outfit where Kess slashed her at. I could only imagine Freth at this point getting up, complaining about it, making a note to try to find some place to get changed, things that she would probably say if she was up again. Okay again.

Perhaps Tristen was more right than I care to admit, and I already admitted to a fair bit as is. Collateral or no, never mind any other reservations that I tend to have, or promises made, this was effectively my fault. I should have went in harder as I knew I could and not just effectively be another wall to be broken down. If nothing else, I could think of nothing else than to strangle that blasted pointy-feathered harpy right now. I didn’t even care about the electricity she would ultimately discharge, I was set to just end her. Seeing Freth like this was effectively the last straw.

"Man it's dark in here but I think the Trick Master also put a kitchen in if I-" Sub began to say as he wandered around what was essentially a barracks, looking for another door long the northern wall. That was when Terashi's messing around with the intercom system paid off.

"There is. Let me turn the lights on." GRAY said as the ancient florescent tube lights flickered on allowing Sub to see the door he was looking for. It being painted the same color as the wall didn't help.

"Oh thank you- wait, GRAY? We can hear you clearly now. What happened?" Sub questioned aloud as he reached for the door.

"I do not know. I've yet to access the building's security cameras, provided there are any. At the moment my capabilities are limited to two-way vocal communication, detecting energy signatures, PC network access and operating the elevator. If anyone wishes to withdraw their Pokemon they can do so through the PC in the lobby. I caution you that it is a much older piece of hardware but it will work. There is also a healing machine, a twenty-three year old model. I still need to perform more maintenance to get the SNAGs working properly, unfortunately." GRAY answered Sub.

"Well that's good to know." Sub said as he opened the door he was looking for, revealing what looked like a small kitchen. "Ah, here it...is...huh..." The man said as he flicked the light switch up on the wall next to the door to get a good look at the promised kitchen. A loud humming fridge, an old stove with signs of paint chipping off of it, and a table with mismatching chairs. "...well, it is a kitchen, I guess." The man said with a sigh.

"Only the ground floor was modified to be lived in. The Trick Master, before turning this into our panic headquarters, originally intended to make this place a resort of sorts, not too dissimilar to the Realgam Tower of old in Orre. As such the upper floors of the tower have under went some modifications. The first floor an arcade filled with discarded Game Corner games, the second a Battle Simulator similar to the one previously found at Realgam, the third installed with the Trick Master's signature Trick Maze technology, the fourth a dining room to overlook the desert, and the rooftop a garden. How much of this all works I have no idea, the Trick Master lost funding at some point. I can also reassure you that the tunnel that connected Trainer Hill to Mauville has been collapsed and sealed off." GRAY explained the building to the Snagems.

"I guess it's fortunate for us this ventured failed. I don't feel like having to hide in a wannabe casino." Sub commented, shaking his head.

"That is all well and good but if I am to ensure this group stays healthy during our collective exile I require something of an infirmary." Doc Stoja said.

"Greetings, doctor. Unfortunately the only available location I can discern would be the basement, where my server currently resides, provided you do not mind the company and heat. We'll have to go about collecting any items you may need as well." GRAY responded.

"That'll do I suppose." Doc Stoja said as she walked up to Blizzard, looking from him to Freth and back. "Your spouse, I assume? Worry not, she'll be fine." Stoja said, then extending a hand to Blizzard. "We haven't been properly introduced, I am Doctor Stojakovic but everyone calls me Doc Stoja. And you are Blizzard, yes?" The Galarian Slowking hybrid asked, the eyes on the shell staring at Blizzard.

"Um...there is no food in here." Laverne spoke up to no one in particular as she entered the kitchen and checked the fridge. "I guess it's too late to eat anything anyways..." Laverne sighed. It was late at night.

Satisfied that my prodding into the old intercom unit bore fruit, I closed the appliance and used a screwdriver to seal the panel back into its original position. I yawned as I put my tools away - with all the adrenaline and everything else we'd been through, it was no wonder I was tired. Not to mention how late it probably was. We'd definitely have to figure something out for food in the morning, but it could wait until then. The second I heard about there being a PC and healing system, though, I rushed to them to sort my team out. I couldn't help but notice the absence of Rala in the system, though. That was a good thing, as I set her and Indie to watch the girls. I was starting to miss her, though.

By the time I made it to the cots, Keiko was already asleep. Given the lack of privacy, taking separate cots was the best course of action. Though it wasn't like this was the best time for that kind of activity, anyway. I selected a cot next to Keiko and slid into it. I immediately felt uncomfortable as I did so, but there wasn't anything I could really do about it, so I tried to accept it and closed my eyes, hoping sleep would come soon.

A pop of bright pink would illuminate the main gathering area as the slightly delayed Co-Leader finally managed to teleport himself into the base. "Okay. Missed the precise memo on when to get here, but managed to make sure I led a merry chase through...a lot of Magma and Aqua people. And then maybe kinda made the few SWIPE people still on me think I went left instead of right. And then had to spend a while figuring out the limits on the scramblers." Looking around the still barren floor plan and half-cracked paint, the spartan furniture, and the barely functional electronics, Reno drew his brow together. "So...guess we never figured out the quietly make this place not look like an abandoned bomb shelter thing. Welp." Rolling his shoulders as he moved to where Sub was, Reno would ask, "So....I missed basically every time someone crossed swords with the major players for SWIPE. What exactly are we looking at here and where should we start poking around at?"

----

Up on the roof, Beau would already be at work attempting to weed the area and resisting the urge to simply just start burning the weed choked hellscape. They might be currently not being chased but the appearance of a potential forest fire this soon after would draw way too many eyeballs. Throwing a wild swing as one of the local Taillow took another dive towards him, Beau grumbled under his breath. He couldn't obliterate the things. Must cooperate with local wildlife. No making squab dinner for the team.

I warily looked up towards the doctor, having not really the opportunity to talk to this doctor in this entire skirmish, only to be reminded of the question of when Sub managed to get this doctor in his employ for medical needs. All the same, I would reach up giving her hand a bit of a shake before taking it back. “I am.” I said to her question. “For what it is, that is.” I would wince a bit, then rubbed my eyes in frustration, but more so in fatigue. “I’m grateful for you tending to Freth…I’m not sure if I made that clear already. I’m just…ugh…I guess I’m to ask what’s the damage here?” I said.
