Daisy Grace | 2 | 1

Cursing silently for her lack of senshi magic, Daisy just kept on chuckin' whatever came to hand. She couldn't see any quantifiable progress, but it did seem that the fog monsters weren't popping up quite as quickly. She refused to allow herself any feelings of triumph though, remembering how easy she'd fallen to the monster before.

And, as if to drive that point home, she watched as the mini monsters all seemed to fall in on themselves within the mist. And as the mist bubbled and frothed, she held her breath, knowing that something bad was about to happen.

When the monster appeared in all it's dark glory, Daisy let out a scream of fearful rage in response to its howl. As she saw it's tail fan out and felt all of the eyes staring at the group of people, she wondered if they even had a chance.

Still, even though the thing was clearly going to attack, it surely couldn't get everyone? Maybe there was a chance to escape. Kneeling carefully to grab another rock, Daisy curled her fingers around a sizeable chunk. And when the monster came, she threw for all she was worth.

Daisy Grace | 2 | 1 | 7

Seeing how easily the beast seemed to shrug off magical as well as physical attacks, Daisy had to wonder if it was even possible to defeat the damned thing. Even as she took a step back to get out of the way so she could rub some warmth back into her tired arm, she noticed how the fog seemed as thick as ever. it was too bad that they couldn't do something to make the fog go away. It was equally too bad that the monster didn't show any exploitable weakness that they could take advantage of.

Rotating her shoulder a little, she scooped up another chunk of brick, this one rather nicely pointed in spots. Stepping forward, she decided to wing it at one of the tail feathers. It was creepy how much like eyes the markings were. Throwing the brick piece as hard as possible, she had the pleasure of seeing it hit, though she couldn't be sure if it actually accomplished anything. She felt a massive gust of air pick her up and slam her backwards as the beast flailed and struck with it's claws.

Gasping a little as the blow took the wind out of her, Daisy lay where she'd fallen, hoping that she wasn't badly hurt. If the worst she walked away with was just having the air knocked out of her, she'd count herself so so lucky.

Civilian Alex - 4 + 4
NovaCracker

Makeup: Roll 2
"Perhaps, Yolie, but I'm not married! Missus just...isn't accurate, dear." Alex kept at the fog monsters until they stopped...and something far bigger took their place. The monster made the plump woman stop, eyes wide at the looming form. Well...that was something else. But despite the monster's size, the lot of them had the advantage. She'd seen others fighting through the fog, and now they were all clearer than before. They had numbers, and that led her to join in the attack. The monster stood between them and home, and she had people to get back to and people to see safely back to their own home!

Lawrence Dunn - Civilian - 5 + ???
* Cherish and Yolie are not engaging the monster and as such are not rolling unless Lawrence is KO'd.

"Ewmind me to have my wife make extra for dinner so you and your two girls can come over for dinner some night, Alex." Lawrence remarked calmly. TRhe monster wasn't on them and he used the time to bodiblytt shield thew younger girls, before glancing over his shoulder. "Perhaps we'll steal Yolie and her relatives as well, if anyone can stand who framed Roger Rabbit." He loved his wife, he did not understand her love for that film much. The man renewed his focus, but kept eears pricked for conversation.

Cherish snorted.

"I can't watch Jessiva Rabbit without wanting to punch someone thanks to Reynarrd." Cherish refused to use her nickname for the man asnymore, and sahe then shrugged a littkle and looked around, watching the shadows move around them before sighing.

"Is it me or does this thing seem "weird?"

"But...." Yolie made a perplexed noise, plainylu not sure proper protocol for unmarried women. Or circumstanced not involving married couples or single fathers. So she gave a little huff and a little frown and shook her head.

"I don't get it, Dad said to be polite...": A pausde. "Though sometimes I wonder if he was into my uncle? I don't think about this, I wonder if I should...." Because she was getting a temporary accessory named Viuncent Tucana wehen she got home, and she expected it. That saiud she was eager to tell Ezekiel about the adventgure. She tried to HUNT! He'd be so proud.

Eternal Remarque - Roll 3

There it was, everything Remarque had expected.

It was lashing out, clawing at everyone. It didn't stop Remarque from attacking, but it did give him something to think about when he got smacked in the face with a bunch of debris.

He didn't have claws. He had his fists, and he had magic that he didn't think would be useful--when this thing was strong enough to claw trees, he figured it could break strings with more ease. It would be a waste of his magic, and he could put that energy into better things--like, punching it.

While avoiding those talons, though. He liked his skin the way it was.

Sailor Arnica - Roll 3

Though he tried to stay close to Remarque, there were some things Arnica couldn't do; he wasn't as good at hand to hand combat--and, more than that, he wasn't as strong as Remarque. The gust of wind that the creature sent back was enough to send him flying backwards--thankfully, just into a tree, but it was enough to knock the breath out of him for a few seconds and force him to reassess his approach.

He knew so little about this, but more than anything, he wished he had his camera. Things like this were exactly what he wanted to write about. He didn't believe in conspiracy theories, or monsters in the forest, or any of those things, but this...

This wasn't a youma.

He didn't know what this was.

...He wanted answers more than anything. And maybe, for it to stop attacking them.

Mauvian Soleiyu - Roll 3

Soleiyu was fast on his feet--small and nimble, and not an easy target.

But, he was also very light, and had very little defenses, so when the monster attacked, the first swipe missed him but he had to dig his claws into the ground to try and gain any grip to keep himself where he was.

It wasn't enough time to attack and he had no time to relax or readjust before the second swipe. Even with his claws dug as deeply as he could manage, the force alone was enough to send him back a few feet, and by the third swipe he was flying through the air indignantly.

...Thank goodness he didn't see anyone he recognized.

Squire Mamertine - Roll 3

Mamertine envied everyone who had some sort of distance based attack, be it their weapon or their magic. He didn't see any rocks or loose branches that he could have hurled at the creature to try and hurt it, which meant he was stuck with just his hammer.

He struck when he could, avoiding when he could, but taking damage was inevitable and in one foul swipe, the creature's talons caught his arm, dragging its nails through his flesh.

He felt the warm blood before he felt the pain and, while it hurt and sent him flying back, he realized that it was more superficial than anything. It would heal. It was bleeding, but it wasn't deep.

...He needed to take care of it at some point, but in the middle of battle the best he could do was figure that he wasn't going to bleed out.

...He just needed to not do that again.

Dark Mirror Basic Narcissus of Rejection l 6 R3
R1: 4
R2: 2
R3: 6

Nothing they did affected it. Narcissus could watch Rakovanite or Diesel or anyone else throw everything they had at this creature, but it didn't seem like it was working. Well, if anything, it made the monster angry. Narcissus moved nearer to his companions. Diesel and Rakovanite had been joined by another corrupt, though she wasn't anyone he recognized.

But it was Diesel who made it sound like he was going somewhere.

As a swipe from a claw caused splinters of wood and leaves and wind to whip around them, he latched onto Diesel's arm. "Don't be ridiculous!" Narcissus demanded over the howl of wind. "You can't get close to it, it'll gut you!" Those claws would certainly gut anything they came into contact with. And once they did, Narcissus didn't know if he'd be able to do anything about it, even with all his medical knowledge.

He was starting to wonder if maybe they all shouldn't retreat for now... The risks felt insanely high- Even if the rewards were too. "Wouldn't it be better if we all went back to the village and came up with a plan and tried again once we were more prepared?"

Page Sawtooth l 6 R3
R1: 3
R2: 7
R3: 6

Yeah, he wasn't a complete idiot.

As soon as the monster disappeared into the darkness, Sawtooth thought for sure this fight was no longer up his alley. He wasn't out here trying to get gored by something he could barely see and that could whip the air up into a frenzy with just a swipe of its powerful claws. One slice of those talons would tear even a man his size to shreds, much the same way it had just ripped through the bark of a nearby tree.

Sawtooth hunkered down and dove for cover behind another tree. He didn't recognize anyone out there fighting, but maybe that was for the best. This kind of battle, even with all of them around, seemed particularly hopeless...

And with the fog coiling around the group like a wall, it didn't look like there would be much chance to escape.

Quote:
MONSTER’S HP: 749/1500

Somewhere in it all, during the distraction of the monster’s attacks, the trees seemed to stretch and grow. They looked like dark towers, spreading shadow and blocking out the night sky.

The trees weren’t the only things benefitting from the growing darkness.

The monster seemed to be feeding off of the it, absorbing it, and as the trees grew, so too did it.

It was a gradual progression, but in the span of a moment it seemed to have doubled in size, and beyond that it just kept growing. Each swipe of its claw was slower, but had so much more force behind it. The only saving grace was that the taller it got, the more distance grew between the beast and its targets.

The larger the trees grew, the larger the monster grew, the greater the sensation of dread and fear. It was an unnatural emotion, forced upon the group by some will of the beast. A sense of foreboding and alarm crashed upon those gathered before it. The darkness seemed to suddenly swallow them up, completely; it was difficult to make out much of anything--except for eyes. Thousands of giant, predatory eyes suddenly appeared to glow around them, staring through them.

The beast still attacked, still swiped, but the whole thing suddenly seemed much more disorienting as the monster tried to hide in the illusion of darkness to protect itself while still slashing at them.

Quote:
A darkness has fallen upon the group and made it difficult to see; the creature has grown in size and the trees are so large that their shadows seem to have swallowed everything up. The creature is attacking indiscriminately; you may choose to be damaged or not! Damage can range from debris from trees hitting people, from gusts of wind from the slashes hitting (which may be strong enough to send characters flying back at player discretion), and can range from any degree of slashing damage from its talons. Players are not obligated to take any damage! The sensation of fear, alarm, paranoia, foreboding, and dread is flavor text; there is undeniably something eerie and wrong about all of this, and unnerving emotions are being forced upon the group but how you choose to interpret this attack is up to you!

Roll 4: Use RNG to determine how much damage you can do to the monster!

  • If you have a civilian, a powered character using their civilian glamour, or a Mauvian in their cat form, please RNG 1-8 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a first stage character, a Mauvian in their humanoid form, or a youma, please RNG 2-9 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a second stage character or a Mauvian in their Mauvian Senshi form, please RNG 3-10 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a third stage character, please RNG 4-11 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a fourth stage character, please RNG 5-12 to determine how much damage you do.

Remember, your character cannot power up or down after they have arrived in this strange village so they should enter this battle and remain in whatever form they arrived in.

You may participate with as many characters as you like, however you must fill out all of your posts to be eligible for any post battle prizes. Please do not delete rolls if you make a mistake.

From here on out, please make sure you include your character's name and rank in bold red at the top of your posts when you roll! You do not need to include score or fill out your post immediately, but we need to know who you are rolling for. Please also make sure you include which roll you are posting for! Even if you are not attacking the beast, you can continue to roll for damage!

This is a team effort to defeat the monster! A low roll does not mean your character has to perform badly ICly. Dice rolls are an OOC function to determine how much cumulative damage the group has done to the creature. The group needs to do a minimum of 1500 damage to defeat him, but the more damage the group does, the more chances you have of walking with more than just your life…

Remember, your character can join this ORP at any point in time prior to the final post. If you miss a prompt, you can make it up at any point in time prior to the ORP Close with no penalty. The next prompt will be posted at ~8-9PM EST tomorrow!

Athalia - Super Senshi of Hercules Beetles

Darkness was familiar to him now, something that engulfed him on more than one occasion and not always because night had fallen. This world had done well to beat him down to the very bottom of the pit and as the pitch black came for him again he had every urge to falter. The softest of pained whines escaping from his lips is a small 'hrngh' as he closed his eyes and took a breath.

If there was ever a time to succumb, it wasn't now.

He knew better, with his shield still firm it stood as a reminder and a focal point for him. No matter how painful it might be and no matter how scared he might feel, if he let go then those under his care would fall too. For all intents and purposes it was his duty to echo the sentiments of those who had once graced his homeworld; no matter the cost, one must always hold the line.

His jaw hardened considerably at this reminder and his steeled himself - for now he would stand firm. The only thing he did elect to do was keep his eyes shut for the time being, focusing only on the shields coursing from his palms and the necessity to keep it standing. He could only hope that Metis and the others he regarded as important would be able to maintain their own composure too.

...Well, if they were even subject to the same thing as he was. It would be in line with the rest of his luck at this stage if he was the only one to experience it, so all things concerned, he wouldn't have deemed that to be an entirely implausible scenario!

Shaowei - Dark Mirror Senshi of Entreaty (Basic)

Darkness was not one of the most welcome things in Shaowei's life, she might not have been terrified of it but being in areas without a good light source always left her with a sense of anxiety and discomfort. Over the course of the last few weeks this had been amplified all the more by the scarce light and the ever present thread of the consuming fog that had the capacity to warp her mind and tear her world apart.

Thus, one could perhaps sympathise with the Dark Mirror as the darkness 'consumed' her and she was left with little choice but to cover her head with her arms and whine. What courage she might have had was easily spooked and with little to drive her forward it stood to reason that she would have no desire to push back too hard.

...She couldn't see what might be in front of her.

And no matter which way she turned it would always see her.

"You know, there's just sometimes when living in this city sucks," the tiny voice remarked. She felt a small paw brush against her leg and in that instance she was reminded that she wasn't alone. Though tired, Namielle was nearby and had managed to meander and stumble her way through the dark to settle beside the senshi. "This is definitely one of those times," the cat added.

Though she remained unseen, Shaowei did manage to locate her and in those moments, scooped her into her arms with a deep and gulping breath.

General Jet | Roll 4 (Not attacking)

Behind him, Jet could tell that the monster and trees were growing. It was still swiping at them, still causing damage to the surrounding woods that it hadn’t destroyed already, but Jet was more concerned about Aquamarine’s condition.

“Idiot,” he breathed and pulled back enough so he could move his arms from around Aquamarine’s shoulders and placed his hands on both his cheeks, his fingers pressing in a way he hoped was comforting against the back of his neck.

For a moment, Jet thought about kissing him, but it would be highly inappropriate on a battlefield, and he was sure Aquamarine would not appreciate the display of affection when there were so many others around. So instead he closed his eyes and pressed his forehead to Aquamarine’s long enough to convince himself that everything would be okay.

“Hang on, I’m getting my cape,” he told his partner as he pulled himself away. His cape had only been pulled off a short distance away, and with a cautious glance up at the monster, he reached out to grab it. The cape itself had been ripped into shreds, but it would still be warm at least.

It was difficult to move, but he figured it was because he’d been pushing himself so hard until that point where he’d finally had a chance to rest. Turning back to Aquamarine, he spread out the cape to throw over his shoulders. It should also help keep the raining debris from harming him more.

Corrupt Eternal Kamacite | Roll 4 (Not attacking)

While it was nice to see that the blond haired General seemed to be able to show kindness and was happy to see at least one person, it was a stark reminder that once this was all over, there would be no one Kamacite could reach out to for help.

He should be glad that this horrible experience was almost over, but part of him wondered what was going to happen later. There was still a chance that not all of them would be getting out of this place alive, and while Kamacite had no desire to die, there wasn’t exactly someone who would assist him.

It was his own fault for not having more friends to rely on, but it also wasn’t his fault that everyone in his life one day disappeared without a word. He would never give up hope that one day they would return, explain they’d been on a secret mission, and they would all carry on like years hadn’t come and gone, but it was growing increasingly difficult to go back to an empty warehouse with only a handmade roomba to keep him company.

Kamacite remained where he was on the ground, although he’d managed to push himself up against the stump of what was left of a destroyed tree. He kept the borrowed dagger in his hand for defense, but there wasn’t much energy left for him to get back on his feet.
