Sean Jones - rolling (deal massive damage!)

It seemed Sean managed to kick away the flowers closest to him for now, so he had a moment to breathe and look around. The scene did not look good. People were down all over the place, with plants either clinging to them and glowing or slicing them with their leaves, which seemed to have turned sharp. Sean was glad he'd managed to avoid both fates so far, but he wasn't sure how much longer he'd be able to keep this up.

A bright pulse of light drew his attention to the display in the middle of the garden, and his jaw nearly dropped. The whole this was not only glowing and swaying, but the light was pulsing in an ominous fashion. Even worse, it was emitting a high-pitched hum, like some kind of massive electronic device that was powering up. Something needed to be done about that, and since he currently wasn't fighting for his life, he could take a crack at it.

But he really didn't want to get too close to the thing, so he looked around for something he could use to hit it or throw at it or something. The only thing in reach that looked useful was a round serving platter from the buffet. He grabbed it, tested the weight for a moment, then flung it at the plant like a Frisbee. The platter wobbled a bit in flight, but surprisingly it actually flew all the way to the plant and crashed right into it. Sean grinned, then glanced back down at the floor to make sure no more plants were sneaking up on him.

Clay Mercer / with Jason Wolf / Fighting some Bitches (6)

The plants continued trying to seize them, however; it grew clear to Clay that sticking around only procured the inevitable. Once he kicked back another one of the vines, he started looking for the exit. The ******** were everywhere; he expected the path back out of here to be long and complicated to avoid some of the bigger plants.

He couldn't believe he paid five dollars for this s**t. Potatoes weren't that awesome...

Jason Wolf / with Clay Mercer / Where's a flamethrower when you need one?!

Jason Winced a bit as the plants started to scratch him a bit. Sure, after this he wouldn't be against plants exactly, but he might start campaigning against genetically engineered ones. What were the point of these plants anyway? Did they really think that killing a bunch of people with death-by-poinsetta wouldn't be on the news?

He felt a bit of confidence in him when he saw Clay nod at him. He probably shouldn't be taking some random person's approval as a confidence boost, but it certainly didn't hurt. At least his older brother would believe him when it came to telling him later about these plants. Though he was starting to get annoyed that every city-wide event he went to there was always something attacking the people attending them.

At this point didn't any of them thing that maybe there should be some extra security or something around here?

Caelum Dawson || Fighting (weapon +2) = 4

Caelum tried to steel his nerves come Jeremy's reassurance, positive he'd make it out of there alive. "I'm sure your brother is putting up one hell of a fight," he said to Jeremy, trying to return the good words. "He's definitely all right."

Yet, there was still the lingering thought in the back of his mind there was only so long everyone could fight before the flowers overcame all of them. He stared down to his forearm where a number of scrapes littered the underside, starting to sting now that he was aware of them.

Well, maybe they'd make it out alive, but not without a few good scars to remember this event by.

His lips pulled into an appreciative smile to the lighter Jack found, waving his trowel around in a motion as well. "You definetely found a better weapon than me," he commented. "That'll burn those weeds to a crisp. Super great find."

He meant it, too; when he followed Jack's motion from the tap on his arm, his red eyes grew big. What the hell was happening with the tree? Was it the center of all of this s**t? Caelum's face flickered with a moment of fear, before he looked to Jack and became concious of the lighter again. His face then cracked into a wry smile.

"Oh, hell yea," he said.

Ok she wasn't going to answer him that and clarify what she'd said, because this was not the time to be making jokes like that, apparently. Kailey cussed again, looking about and loathing her inability to just... power up right now. But that'd be a s**t move in front of so many people, so it was out of the question even for her reckless a**.

Razor edges from the flowers sliced her legs and arms, and she hissed, still trying to keep them off her as well as the kid. They weren't horrible cuts--oh they stung, but she'd deal with the patch up later. At least they were big enough to punch, and she continued to crush the vines and plants beneath her heels as much as she could.

"This would be an awesome time for someone to MacGyver a flamethrower," she hissed, trying to keep one hand on the guy's arm in case she had to try and drag him back from the plants. He definitely looked a lot worse for wear than she was, and she kept sending him nervous glances, unsure if he was holding up ok from the assault from the plants.

"You ok there? Can you hear me?" He was still moving, still fighting back, and that was a damn good sign--hell they seemed to be actually pushing the freaking plants back--but she wasn't sure what else these things could do except slice and dice, or what further injuries he might be dealing with.

He wanted to say that yes, just like a month ago during the Halloween carnival and the bats. But he knew he'd just, in a way, be digging his own grave. He hadn't run then, like Aiden had said, and now here he was telling Aiden to run and expecting him to listen. He knew better, he really did. Aiden also knew better, or at least he should. Neither of them were the sort to run, both stubborn in that manner...but he loved that about the other. Aiden wasn't a push over...he respected it, even if he didn't always like it (candle shopping).

Appreciative of the help, as it seemed many of the poinsettias which had been attacking him fled, perhaps scared of his lover, he was hefted up onto his feet. "Thanks." He meant it, he really did, as he smiled up at the other. "And here I was hoping for a new plant to add to my collection." Was that a pout on his face? Yes, it was indeed a pout. He really had been hopeful and now this...damn it. He really hoped the Negaverse was not involved in this. He knew the different factions had their own plans and plots, so he had really no way of knowing since he couldn't power up here. Not only did the different factions have their own plans but so did different officers, it left a lot out there for him to not be aware of.

"Fine, you can pick the next date." He stated, again there was some pouting. It didn't last long though as he grabbed for a fork, don't laugh...forks hurt, and when one of the plants came toward him he took out his anger on it and well..forked it to death? or something similar. Either way he turned his slate eyes on the other. "I was hoping for a nice romantic time out....and well the plants also. Now I'm a bloody mess, lightheaded, and I want to go home." Actually he really needed to go home, he was bleeding and dizzy and all around not feeling well. Once he was patched up he was crawling in to bed and dragging Aiden with him, he was not letting the other get away from him so easily, he still wanted to spend time with him this evening...even if it was with him sleeping curled around the other.

Evren Fighting... kinda

Blood still dripping down her face and sides as the creature got closer to her. Backing up slowly was all she could do to try and keep the creature from lunging at her again. Evren was unsure how she was going to escape the creature’s might when all of a sudden it started attacking her again and more cuts appeared on her. Eventually her back hit a wall where she ended up back to back with a little area that had normal potted plants above her. Quickly getting up, she murmured to the potted plants. “Sorry. Hiya!” Flinging all the pots she could get her hands at towards the creature.

“This. Was. One. Of. My. Favorite. Outfits. Do you know how long it’s going to take to remake it?!” Flinging a pot between each breath and one more she then released that the creature was down for the count a long while before that last pot she threw. Though just to be sure… she walked over to it and stopped down on it with her boot for good measure. When it did not make another movement she let out a sigh of relief before walking a few feet away from the mess and collapsing to her knees. “Haaa…”

“I wonder if I will ever be able to go anywhere where these kinds of things happen. It would be nice if they could take a break on the holidays at least…” Bringing her hand up to her face she rubbed to see that she had blead pretty badly. “Mmmm… mmmm… I better find something to patch up with or something…”

Reynard Abney: 6

"I don't think Audrey II was poisonous," Rey countered, looking around for his sister only to see her swarmed by rabid plants. "As for trouble multitasking - no, but there's a time and a place, and this is neither of them." Hissing, he stomped on a plant and swatted another back, earning a sap-coated cut for his trouble.

"I think," he added, looking at the ominous display in the center of the garden, "We're almost out of time..." Which meant they had to do something, and do it now - or....

But. But Cherish. "Oh damn it," he murmured, and threw himself in the direction of his sister to at least try to protect her before the monster poinsettias exploded or something.

Albert Wiley: 5

"Not good, not good not good," Albert muttered woozily as he regained his feet, swatting helplessly at the now-angry plants as they cut at him. "Kaida? Kestrel? We - " he coughed, thankful that though he hqd been swarmed once already, it was apparently before the things were ticked off enough to start puffing pollen everywhere.

Nonetheless there was enough being sprayed about that it was making him twitchy - he'd had pneumonia in his life once already, and pollen from rabid monster plants had to be more than an allergen.

Well, he was managing to beat them off of him this time, but... "I want a refund on - on every damn event ever held in this city," he huffed, or rather whined. "If they're all rigged like this they should be paying us to attend!"

Christine Rose : 2 + 2 = 4

Christine was angry - more than that, actually, she was pissed. These things were hurting Tally, they were ruining their date, and they were being really really gross on top of it. Screeching, she waved her fake candy can like a battle standard and started swatting, just barely managing to keep them off of her.

Spotting a pink-haired girl who couldn't possible be older than thirteen, if even that, she waved her over. "C'mere sweetie, I've got a weapon and you'll be safer with me and Tally if these things get much worse."

And after this mess was over? She was going to go whine at whatever higher-ups didn't warn her there was going to be something happening here. Whoever had ruined her date (and by this time, she was reasonably sure that monster plants weren't normal winter-time attractions) was going to pay.

Literally. For her and Tally's next, better-be-uninterrupted date.

Delilah White
Delilah was growing ever grateful for her time at Mathis' gym. The damn plants seemed to cling even tighter the more she threw off. However, as she heard Ginger's cries about her bat, she couldn't help but wish it as well.

"That's it. I'm going back to plants that don't do weird things." She hissed, ripping another one off and cursing as it snagged her sweater. "I just got this thing!" She snapped back, angry now.

"Damn you evil creatures for ruining another holiday party. But Ginger, you can't say it doesn't make it interesting..."

Ryuthulhu

Nick Fox
"Mercy!" Nick called as he smacked another one away from her. His hands were cut up pretty bad and the way he was holding them, they clearly hurt. He wasn't a fighter but he was...annoyed.

Annoyed at the plants. Annoyed at himself. Annoyed at it all.

This was supposed to be a chance to start over and instead it was going the same cursed way as Halloween. "You stupid plants!" Nick called out as one jumped on his back, forcing him to fall forward to his knees. "Isn't being a teenager hard enough without you!" He reached back and the vines wrapped around his arm. Using that, he slammed the thing down into the ground.

"Ow...ow...ow" As it broke apart, it was clear his knuckles had also made contact. That was going to leave a mark.

Emily Wiley - FIIIIIIIITE - 2

Emily moved to back Reynard up rapidly, huffing.

"I don't see how it's not a good time, they're just--"

Evil plants that she yelped about as vines snapped around her arms, leaves cutting deepas she snarled, struggling wearily. OK, so biting wasn't smart - her stomach churned in protest as she grimaced -- and thenyelped and wheezed, coughing violently as she not only got a faceful of pollen -- she stupidly inhaled it.
This night was not fun, she mentally decided, trying to get air back in her system. Her lungs burnt, her breath was wheezy, and she was beginning to hate sap in wounds and fresh ones, trying to regain oxygen.

Cherish Abney -- Fail Fighting, in pain - 6

Cherish was faring far better seeing Reynard coming between angry leaves, and the teen girk promptly clawed several off, grateful for the help, even as several turned on Wren. The girl immediately began to fend them off more studily, hiding blown as she moved to try to recover the panicked, wheezing girl het brother had tried with, and whimpered.

"Rey, there's too many plants!"

Kestrel DeLacey - FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHT - 2

"This isn't horrid." Kes drawled. "I'm fine, you two alri--"

It eas slow motion, buy her instincts kicked in before her civilian mind. A plant moved for Kaida and Albert behind, and Kes spun, lungling to tackle it before Albert could get a faceful of the pollen beginning to fill the air, anf snarled as she let her instinct take over. Sure, the plants were grabbing onto her, pinning limbs, trying to force her down-- but for her family, she'd fight, hacking at the pollen in her face as the pointsetta mauled her.

"Not MY uncle you b***h!"

Crystal Lauper - Fighting like a sissy - 6

Most of Crystal's blows were flimsy. She didn't want to fight and she was afraid, swatting and swiping feebly -- and then Christine spotted the sweetest looking pink haired girl she'd eber seen.

Chrystal blinked, and suddenly struck with vigor.

"It's okay sweetheart! Stay with us, we'll protect you!"

Because she was NOT letting a child get hurt. She was NOT going to be like them.

Ever.

Allison Abson - Pain, fite - 9
"Been better." Ally drawled, then hissed, lashing at the plants with renewed vigor, almost dancing as she grabbed a solid stick and began to strike with them as if using a cane. "I mean, there were wild bats at the fair."

Not like she knew what to do there. Or like she started well either. Still, the cane found a couple more plants with flourish, the teen huffing.

"Thanks though. You a'ight?"

Kit Paine - (9) fighting back the plants alongside Allison

"Yeah, I remember those bats," Kit agreed, wondering if the barrage of poinsettias would ever lessen up. They just seemed to keep coming and coming. It was a good thing his layers of clothes gave him some protection because he remained unharmed for the most part, but he felt sorry for his companion's fancy outfit.

"Were you wearing anything as nice as you have on now during the fair?" he asked, trying to keep the conversation light-hearted as he continued to do his best at fighting back their attackers. At least Allison seemed to have found something more effective than hands or feet to use as a weapon. "I think I'm holding up okay. Hey, I think we might actually be managing to drive these things back!"

Between his and Allison's combined efforts, they finally seemed to be making some progress. The plants had started to move as one, but as they beat them back harder, their numbers seemed to lessen.

((So totally late on this))

Arthur Quinton aka Quinn - Fighting, rolled a 10. Epic, too bad the damage was already done >.<'

Hurt and dizzy Quinn continued to fight on. He didn't know what else he could do, Mercy's boyfriend was already at her side helping. He was actually doing a really good job. It was like a fire had been lit in him. Quinn knew what it was like to have that burning desire to protect someone. He knew how it felt to see that someone hurt and in pain and all you could do was continue to fight. He had been in that boy's shoes once, nearly a year ago. He had been willing to give his life for another but he didn't have that right anymore. She didn't want him so he had been forced to let her go. He had shoved that anger and sadness deep inside. He had buried it beneath work and indifference but for a moment he let out that anger and fought.

He tore into the plants, indifferent of the damage they inflicted on him. Letting the rage that he still harbored inside out, if only for a little bit.

Abigail Miller aka Abby - Fighting, rolled a 3. Aww and she was doing so well T.T

Abby was getting tired. More and more of the plants attacks were landing but she still fought. Stopping wasn't an option. If she stopped then not only would she get hurt but others would too. At least while she fought and destroyed plants there would be less for others to deal with. They wouldn't have to face the dozen or so plants that she was facing. So even though her arms and legs were cut from the plants she kept fighting. Good thing she had been practicing so much lately.

The poinsettias were dropping like flies, but it almost didn't seem fast enough. The giant tree display seemed to be growing--and, worse, the orbs of light were collecting at the top. It looked like it was about to fire a beam of energy right into space.

And then it happened.

There was some sort of electrical crackle in the air, and all the poinsettias went rigid at the same time. They stopped fighting, stopped moving, and began to twitch.

This seemed even more unnatural than the onslaught.

The poinsettias glowed brighter--and then the Winter Stars began to explode. Leaves, dirt, sap and glittery pollen rained down on the crowd. It was noisy, but the explosions themselves were nearly painless for anyone unfortunate enough to be surrounded by the flowers.

The ray of energy exploded, sending a blinding white light across Destiny City. When the light dimmed and everyone's vision returned, the garden was covered in snow like sparkles. Something unnatural had happened here--and while it wasn't quite clear just what had gone on, or why, one thing was clear: things could have been very, very worse if not for the brave civilians that stood up to defend themselves and their city.

Those that were drained might still feel physically weak and off balance; the world may feel like it's spinning and they may be tempted to empty their stomach. The sap is sticky and leaves an uncomfortable rash in its wake--and the pollen has a strange smell. Some people are complaining that the bright lights have affected their vision--ultimately, everyone's a mess. People are bleeding and holding injuries from the sharp leaves, and paramedics are on their way.

Myles

Myles still seemed a little bit dazed as he processed Kailey's question; he had been doing a decent job of defending himself but when the poinsettias exploded, the light seared his eyes and temporarily blinded him. He reached up to rub at his eyes. The only good thing to come of it was the fact that it seemed to shock him out of the daze he'd fallen into.

"I'm good," he promised, even though his response was dubious at best. He had forced a vague smile onto his face as he rubbed at his eyes.

"This is a little more excitement than I'd bargained for, I think!" He parted the fingers of one hand so he could peek out of it and see her. "Are you okay?"

Kaefaux

Samir

Samir seemed surprised when the poinsettias exploded; his reaction was to wrap his arms around Aubrey protectively to try and shield her from the blast.

Thankfully, there was only light and sound. He waited a moment before he released her from the sudden embrace. He looked up for a second, watching the strange, glittering snow that fell from the sky, and then glanced back down at her.

"Are you all right?"

He couldn't help but reach out to brush his thumb lightly over her cheek. He didn't know what compelled him to do it, but it had been instinctive. Like he needed to do something to make sure that she was still there, still okay.

...Flowers weren't that scary, but there were people around them groaning and crying in pain. There were people, unconscious, or covered in blood.

But, so far as he could tell, they were okay.

...Which was good, because he didn't know what he'd do if she had gotten hurt because he'd dragged her here.

Skysu

Jeremy

Jeremy was seconds away from giving begrudging approval to allow the boys to try and take down the tree when it suddenly erupted into light. He could have sworn he'd heard explosion, but no one seemed to be getting blown to smithereens, thankfully.

Instinctively, he'd raised a hand to shield his eyes, but the searing white still burned them. He was squinting when the light was dying away. The tree seemed to be the source of the blinding light so he whistled.

"...I'm thinkin' maybe it's pretty lucky you boys weren't any closer to that tree," he mused; he looked at the two of them quickly and then ruffled their hair, laughing. "You two good? Sit down if you're feelin' tired. If you're too banged up, move up front. They'll have paramedics by the gate soon," he assured, figuring someone probably already called.

He might have been off duty but he had an obligation; if the kids were okay, he felt comfortable leaving them. There were probably people out there that weren't faring so well.
