Elistral was going over the nearly finished evacuation with one of the Protectors when she heard Rore cough behind her. She raised a hand, acknowledging his presence, and finished her conversation quickly. Within an hour or two, the townsfolk would be far enough away from the town and the impending fight. She gave a tired sigh and turned around, the burden on her shoulders already lifted somewhat.

"Don't worry, I talked to the others on my way here," Rore told her, readjusting his belt to sit a little more comfortably on his hip. "Everyone's pretty much ready. Oh man, I haven't worn armor for a while."

Elistral looked Rore up and down, taking stock of his new apparel. "We have spells if you wish to lighten the weight."

"It's fine." Rore moved his legs one at a time experimentally. "I'm already used to it again." Moving out of the way for a group of defenders to rush past, the two decided to take stock of the full situation on the wall top.

Fenrir gave Jake a tight smile, already shaking his head before he'd finished the whole sentence. "You know my restrictions. Unless said otherwise, there's nothing I can really do." He stuck a hand into his pocket to pull out his pocket watch. "All I can say is remember that keystone I showed you, if the chance happens to arise." Flipping it closed, he patted his young friend on the shoulder. "Also, I feel like I should say this: At dawn, look to the East. Most likely nothing'll happen, but--" he shrugged "--who knows."

"We're almost there." Crow said, coming up beside Gorash, who was blocking his ears from the loud cheering.

"...Okay." Gorash replied, squeezing his eyes shut. Inside his head felt like it was splitting from the enthusiasm the other him felt. He jammed his helmet over his head, peering out just a tiny bit from the visor to see the peaceful scene before him. A lump of sadness rose in his throat, it would not last long, he knew that.

Jake looked at Fenrir sideways. "Keystone?" Then he reached inside his pocket and pulled out the stone. "I had almost forgotten about it. What is it's purpose again?" Jake looked at him with a smile.

"Call forth the commanders. Bring me Elistral, Rore, Jake, and Sylvia. It's time to talk strategy." The messengers bowed and headed out to gather the others.

"Sir, is it wise to take counsel in such inferior beings? Surely our counsel shall suffice in this situation?" One of his top generals was bowing.

Demios turned to the general. "Inferior you say?" Demios took the dragon by the collar. "I would cleave off your head if not for my friendship with you, Regiers. Those 'inferior' beings are mightier then any one of you generals. Sad as it is to say it out right. They are three of the six that went to defeat Mal. The fourth is Strider's wife, last of a long dead race of elves. You have no right to call any of them inferior unless you would call me so." Demios released the dragon and Regiers stumbled back.

Regiers bowed upon the ground. "Forgive me my lord. I am but a mere wyrm before you."

Demios lifted the dragon up. "Forgiveness is my intention. Now go and ready our troops. The battle shall not wait for forgiveness." Regiers went off as commanded, leaving Demios to wait for his friends.

Reaper was laughing now to himself. His excitement was threefold the others'. He had his guns drawn. He shot one, two, three shots into the air. Like thunder their splendorous boom echoed among the hills and mountains. His horde cheered and grew more wild. "Such a beautiful sound a gunshot. Now other sound pleases my ears more." The army was at least ten thousands strong and wild. They would break upon Salim like a tsunami against a feeble rock.

Elistral spotted a few of Demios's dragons, messengers by the look of their uniforms, heading towards her and Rore as they moved to the stairs. "What is going on?" She asked as one approached the pair.

After the messenger explained that they were needed, Rore sighed. He'd always hated the gut feeling that came with a pending battle. "We'll be up there shortly." The dragon nodded and ran off. When they found Demios, Rore said hello to him, glancing out over the wall at the force coming.

"Once a group of golden haired people find their way here, which reminds me, they might be arriving soon, I told them to leave before Reaper did. Anyway, show that to them and tell them that I said to help. After they give you the keyword, then a few thousand warriors will come until Strider meets up with you." Fenrir nodded to himself, as if pleased. "Don't worry, they'll be more than enough to defend, even if they're loaned."

Gorash pushed his way through the front of the army to find Reaper, wincing every so often from the growing headache he had. "Reaper," he said quietly, then again louder, mindful of the loud noises "How...how many do you think will die?" His blue-gray eyes shone brightly, a flash of orange passing over them at one point.

"On which side my friend? Several shall die on both sides. I never said I expected a complete and utter victory. The ones commanding Salim are very tough to defeat. They themselves are worth two hundreds of our allies. But they are not invincible. Now I no longer need Gorash the Knight. I require Gorash...the Demon." Reaper taps Gorash on the forehead with the butt of his gun and a zap of magic went to Gorash's head. Reaper flipped his gun around and re-holstered it. "Mal might be dead. But I love his guns." Reaper rode on.

Demios nodded and looked where Rore looked. "Yes. This is the horde set upon us. Dragons on wing and in armor, demons with bloodlust in their hearts, and most deadly: Dark elves. Last of a dying race. Left to rot in the dark caves of the southern mountain. How he convinced them to rise against us I don't wish to know. But come they have. Now is the time to speak of our plans of defense. The gates have been sealed tight but they won't hold forever. We have to have a plan of how to defend ourselves should they break through the gates...or if they climb over them. What say you, Elistral? You are the Protector of this city. What say you?" Demios had his helmet off and was looking at Elistral with his glowing blue eyes. He seemed now, more than ever, kingly in his own way.

"You truely are an oddity my friend. You say you cannot help and yet you lend us a thousand soldiers. An observer, but perhaps a biased observer? Thank you. Try not to show too much excitement when we win or else i'll accuse you of being one sided instead of two." Jake smiled at Fenrir. He looked to his left and saw a messenger of Demios coming up. "Welp I suppose this is my cue to join the council. Good bye old friend." With that Jake waved and went with the messenger.

((Reaper has a horse?))

Elistral looked out over the landscape at the dark mass no too far away, thinking deeply. Then she let her eyes roam over the town and the preparations being made. Lastly she turned to her friends/ Never had she thought that being a leader came with such decisions. "Pots of hot oil are one of the most basic defenses for walls such as these, placed at regular intervals, and torches nearby for archers to use flaming arrows on the covered enemies. Magical defense should be also used on the archers besides the battle, to keep them safe while they fire. All of the ground fighters will keep a tight semicircle around the walls, keeping the gates closed with the others inside, in the event that any are able to get in." She frowned slightly, a small crease in her brow. To Demios she said, "If it's possible, I must ask you to keep Reaper's dragons from getting close to Salim."

"I'll try not to," Fenrir replied with a wave. "Have fun." Biased. He was close, Fenrir thought to himself. It was better that he didn't know how he'd helped Reaper out before the Ravagers had marched. Shrugging, he glanced back into the enormous pot and frowned, it was now empty. "Darn."

Gorash blinked at the gun with it came near him, and closed his eyes as Reaper smacked his forehead. He reopened them after and rubbed the spot gently with his fingers, confused. "What did you do--" He started to ask, but broke off to wobble in place for a moment instead. He lowered his arm, still not understanding, until he spoke again, this time not of his own conscious thought. "Of course, Reaper."

((Yes =3))

Demios nodded. "As you wish." Demios noticed Jake coming up the stairs. "Hello my friend. We shall require your magical assistance. Magical defenses shall be needed around the walls. To where we can fire out but no heat or arrows breaks through. Can you do this?"

Jake smiled. "Of course." Jake teleported to the top of the clock tower, the highest point in Salim. He outstretched his hands towards the walls and waved his hands here and there and a glittering wall of orange magic rose just in front of where he waved his hands.

Demios nodded. He looked at Elistral's face. "I know that this is not what you would have wanted but as a leader all blame is laid upon you for all the short comings of whatever happens. Long have I defended my people and long have I been beloved and long have you protected your city as all others gave in and so long shall you be beloved. Now comes your greatest hour Elistral." Demios then looks towards Rore. "Please do not begrudge me friend if I ask you to look after the outward defense. It is a task not lightly given for you shall be handed the first and most ferocious part of the attack. But I shall be busy commanding the skies and Elistral and Sylvia shall be defending the walls with their archers. Jake shall command the inner forces and the continued defense of the barriers. Are you up for it? I need a dependable leader down there."

Reaper smiled. "Go forth Gorash the Demon. You shall lead in my stead of the first onslaught. I wish to watch from a higher vantage point." Reaper turned off and left the lead to Gorash and went to a high up hill.

Sylvia went with the messenger that came to find the others. "Ah, hello. How goes the preparations?" She looked at the horde as they kept on their approach. "So much evil. How can so much of it have escaped from the end of Mal? It makes no sense. Such grim days. But good is on our side. So what do you wish of me Demios?"

Demios blinked at Sylvia. Demios had never taken her for a woman of such graceful words. He had always known her as a quiet but strong person. "Well as you know it shall be your duty to guard the western walls and Elistral shall guard the eastern. We shall be supplying you with kettles of hot oil. Also don't heed the barriers they allow outward shooting."

Sylvia nodded and returned to her post on the western walls.

"You have undoubtedly lived far longer than I have, Demios. It is comforting to know not all aspects of leadership are so overbearing." Elistral fidgeted with her rings again.

Rore shook his head with a smile. "No, it's perfectly fine. In my kingdom I was a captain. This isn't so different from then." Absently, he reached up to the dandelion emblem around the necklace he'd found stashed with his armor. "I just hope I haven't forgotten anything important."

Gorash watched Reaper for a bit before shrugging unconcernedly. He reached back to pull one of the two weapons he wore on his back down, but couldn't decided between the pair. Maybe he'd duel wield them at one point, though the halberd required two hands to swing. He clenched his gloved fist, feeling the muscles in his arm tighten. Give it back. He heard echo strangely in his head. "Nah, I like this freedom," He replied with a fierce grin. "You don't know how many times I wanted to wring someone's neck but couldn't."

At Elistral's comment Demios laughed. "I am indeed very old. It has been some time since I have recalled how old I am, though at a rouch estimate I believe I am three hundred and fifty seven years of age in your reckoning. Though I would only be 30 in dragon years." Demios smiled and patted Rore's shoulder. "If I haven't forgotten anything then you haven't either. Good luck Rore." Demios nodded and Elistral and Rore. "it is time I went to my men. My knights shall join you on the ground, again, good luck and may Fate favor us all." Demios sprouted his wings and took flight to the roof of the baracks that had been temporaraly taken for a roost.

((Sorreh, I'm not going to be on today. I'll try to though. D= ))

"What a strange thing to say." Elistral muttered, waving to Demios as he flew away. "Wasn't he the one who said that he didn't trust Fate?"

Rore began to head down the stairs they'd come up not too long before. "I'm beginning to think that fate just likes to watch us scramble around." With that he set off in a quick jog to slip out of the gates as they began to close, weaving his way through the sea of people. When he found the opportunity to he explained to the brunt of the force that he'd be the commanding officer. Nobody contradicted him.

Elistral was left to ponder the whole end of the conversation, but she couldn't let it bother her too much. Near her, the archers had already started to find their positions, checking their bows to make sure they wouldn't fail during the battle. For their sakes she needed to have a clear mind.

"Hey Crow, where'd you go off to?" Gorash called up into the air, knowing that the demon would be able to hear him. A dark shape did come near him, avoiding the teasing spears below his feet.

"You sound...different," Crow cocked his head to the side, referring to the slightly deeper voice he was hearing from the knight.

"It's nothing," Gorash replied, waving a hand dismissively. "I want you to tell the front line that I'm in charge now, and what I want them to do." He took a few minutes explaining to Crow what he had in mind, and shortly later the demon flew off across the front of the army, thinking about the sudden change over Gorash even as he relayed his simple instructions.

From his perch upon the clock tower he saw a group of soldiers heading towards them. Golden haired they were. Jake smiled and teleported to them. He bowed low and presented the keystone. "Fenrir asked you to help us."

Demios wasn't going to transform into a dragon unless he needed to. He still wanted to fight on the ground after the battle in the sky was secured. Now the great wall of the horde was only a few miles away. It wouldn't be long now.

Reaper sat upon the high up hill smiling. Now was the tension before the hammer stroke fell. He laughed to himself. "What a nice little play this shall be. Right Fenrir?" He knew the wolfen man was there somewhere. If not then he could hear Reaper non the less.

A brief flash of confusion came and went across the lead demons face, and he held up a finger to Jake, turning to speak with the others like him. A few words were said in a different tongue with a few that could be understood such as "Fenrir?", "Different name.", "Must be." and "I've heard it called that before.". Then the leader directed his attention back to Jake. "Of course," He glanced around briefly for a moment and held out his hand for the keystone. "Take us to an open space."

There was no need for Elistral to really give instructions to the archers she was in charge of, but even so she gave them a few pointers. Those weren't needed either, as a few years while Salim was being rebuilt (Or fixed, I forgot) they'd gone through training to protect the small place.

Fenrir sneezed loudly at that time, tears springing in his eyes as he moved aside for a group to take and use the pot they'd eaten from for defenses. "Ugh," he sniffed, rubbing his nose. "I knew I should've stayed in bed."

Jake handed the golden haired leader the keystone. "Very well." Jake teleported the entire group to the opposite side of the city where the there was no horde. "You may do what you wish here. When I give you a signal you shall bolster the defenses at the front gate and aid their retreat into the city. Do you understand?"

Demios brought up a hand and a messenger came flying down.

"Yes my lord?" The messenger had his wings out but wasn't in a dragon form.

"Go to Silver City and tell them the battle has begun." With that Demios transformed his vocal cords into dragon form and released an enormous, bellowing roar that made most of the soldiers jump and the front line of the enemy cringe in fear. It was the roar of Demios, Silver Emporer and it was a call to war. "Fly my brethren! Fly to victory!" With that all of the dragons on the roof took flight and met the force of shadow and ice dragons in the sky. The Battle for Salim had begun.

"Of course, of course." The leader nodded, even as the others of his red eyed group were spreading out seemingly randomly around him and Jake. He hefted the stone in the palm of his hand a few times. "This won't take long."

Elistral watched the dragons take off after pressing her hands against her sharp, elven ears. "Hold." She said, trying to act calm. "There is no use to waste arrows. On my command, fire." The archers all nodded grimly, keeping their bowstrings taut and ready with an arrow or two. Jake's shields were thankfully up but if they failed, Elistral had her small control of wind magic that would come in handy.

"Wait until they come within half a mile!" Rore commanded, waving his sword up in the air to gain the attention of the people around him. "Keep a tight formation when they hit. We're defending this city, so this isn't a massacre!"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:39 am

Jake bowed again as Demios roared. "The battle begins. Just wait for the signal." Jake teleported to his post and checked in with those he had placed in charge. After he nodded that he would retake command he sat down and began to channel energy, keeping the barriers strong.

Now even Demios transformed, the largest silver dragon in the sky. He took wing and the wind from his wings sent up dust and some debris. He launched into the air and raked his claws on a shadow dragon who got too close. The dragon fell to the earth below, dead.

Sylvia stood on the wall and looked across the fields. "Do not shoot until you can see the hate in their eyes. Do not use oil until they are on our front door. We shall burn their hides against the city walls!"

George was on the back of a shadow dragon, firing lightning at a few golden dragons or silver when they got too close. "Ah, nothing like a good breeze to cool you off after a long walk." He hit another golden dragon and then a bronze one.

Just as George, Marie was on the back of an ice dragon, freezing the enemies into a brittle ice which froze even their hearts and as they hit the ground shattering their still living bodies into pieces.

The golden haired leader heard the cries of the dragons from both sides in the skies, but that didn't bother him or his companions. The keystone he held began to float slowly upwards above their heads and in unison they closed their eyes, swaying gently in place.

Gorash melted back into the second line of Ravagers as they continued to run towards Salim. Cowardice wasn't part of his nature, although he heard the other him yelling incomprehensible words in his head, he just didn't want himself known at that moment. The first line of attack was always the most brutal. He'd show his blades soon, though.

When she thought Reaper's army had gotten close enough to the defending troops below and the arrows would more than hit their marks, Elistral commanded the archers to fire. They aimed to the sky and the small projectiles that were launched arched to start their rain on the assortment below. The ground battle had started.
