He proceed forward, turning around to walk in a proper manner, as his gaurds halted for a moment to allow the crowd to pass them by, so they could walk to the groups rear. As he paced forward towards the "Modern City" (Ironic I know) of Thebes he said in a loud enough manner for his gaurds to hear him, "Prehapes they'll take water from you, as I think from the tones of some of their responses, apparently may not like me."

He smiled, though not visiable to anyone. The Gaurds reached over their backs and moved slightly to the side of the ground offering the Canisters of Water to them. One even says the word water while he thrusted it forward in a gentle manner.

He thought to himself, "Odd but slightly a welcoming sight.. Thankfully for those who did not bow, we were not in a city or else I would have had to demonstrate an unfortunate wraith."

He sighed, he sometimes hated being an authority figure. He loved the great stuff that came out of the role, but honestly hated the enforcement side. He wondered if anyone could understand how he felt, he truely did feel alone... His face once more turned into a non-emotional state.

Karah made her face emotionless and picked up the rear of the small group. She pulled out one of her daggers and twirled it in her fingers under her cloak to keep the others from seeing it. The last thing she wanted was for her cover to be blown. Several questions began to bombard her. Where did these people come from? Who are they? Will they end up being one of my future targets?

((I see no problem with pulling historical and biblical characters outta nowhere, but try to be sensitive about it, OK? Some of us may not be Christian and we don't want to be offensive, though I do agree that it would be quite awesome.

Also, from now on, try not to make OOC only posts. If you have to add on just a one-liner at the end I'd be thankful... double posts are a no no too, you could've just edited the previous one.))

It was slightly pleasing that her joke hadn't fallen on deaf ears and so Nadira relaxed a little more, carefully letting down her outward emotional barrier; she saw no problem with the other three people, so she wouldn't fake being angry when she wasn't or hide the fact she was oddly fond of them in a strange way anymore, but she was still going to be careful of the new people, the ones from this time period.

Glaring strongly at Amenophis, who, sadly, hadn't fallen over, she began to try to figure out who and what he was and meant to these people. He didn't seem like a simple general, no, he carried himself with what could only be described as a royal baring; knowing her luck he was probably the damned Pharoh himself. Self-conciously Nadira pulled herself up to her full hieght and stopped slumping, switching from the wary gait of a thief sneaking about in someone's house to the stride of someone who knew she was better than everyone around her; her ego was in servere need of a boost considering she still appeared to be the lowest of everyone here.

Nadira was still a little worried about the other woman who had comer with them though, she had seemed so easily broken earlier and surely she had figured it out as well? The men she highly doubted had figured anything out, she was positive that even the smartest man remained blissfully oblivious to his surroundings at all times, but she was almost positive that the other woman had eeither figured it out or had heard her accidently speak aloud. There was this little alomst maternal voice that urged Nadira to comfort her, but she couldn't quite bring herself to drop her so quickly adopted facade of superiorty.

Still, she was even worried about herself, sure she knew she had made it through a lot of things hut when did you reach your limit? Would she reach the city and finally snap? All the strangeness and horriableness and patheticness of her life suddenly lashing out all at once, overwhelming her until she broke down? Frowning she shook her head lightly and attempted to forget that thought, instead opting to chant within her own mind: 'I am strong, I have gone through worse, I am better than this, I will not break down, I am strong, I have gone through worse...'

((Before I say anything, I want to say that I can only cite two motivations for this OOC-only post; one being my perverse amusement, the other being the fact that any IC material I could post would be useless filler crap, and therefore not worth posting at all. (Feel free to take a look at my rant on the subject.)

Anyway, my OOC-only posts have been deleted, except for the first one, which has been edited into the second one.

I wasn't suggesting pulling Biblical characters "outta nowhere". And to be frank, I don't see how I could use Biblical characters to offend someone participating in a roleplay that takes place in ancient Egypt, but I won't even go there. Besides which, I never even said I actually intended to try and bring in a Biblical character; I just said that Aleks would wet himself at the chance to meet someone from the Bible.

That's my piece, anyway. I'm done with OOC-only posts, at least until I find myself in another situation where one is unavoidable. Just waiting for an opportunity to post IC now.))

(( I made a reply to your rant so that you know, K? And please don't be mad at me, I wasn't trying to be mean or pissy or anything... If the internet could convey feelings and emotions and tone of voice you'll find I didn't actually say that in a mean tone or anything...))

((Why don't we just do a time-skip? Seems obvious to me that everyone is waiting for someone else to post because we're all sick of walking in the desert and having wry internal monologues, so let's just skip to the good part. confused ))

((Azrael's leading you through the desert, he needs to say you arrive.))

Frowning Femi followed after her older brothers and her younger, watching them with big purple eyes in confusion. "Surely you don't expect me to believe you can't live without me... What will you do when I move out?" She asked them teasingly, trying to ease the tension, but it only made Umi flinch like she'd thrown a rock at him and the other two look away as if ashamed. Realization struck Femi like a slap to the face and in horror she stopped where she was, a blush appearing across her cheeks and her heart skipping a little beat. She knew very well Seth would never want her for a wife but somehow Umi had gotten the thought into his head and had gone crying to her older brothers, and this made her feel so angry, dissapointed, and ashamed that she felt utterly depressed.

Nuru and Adjo were pulled to halt as well by her stopping, and though the tried to pull her she was such a dead weight she wouldn't budge. "Sister, come on..." Adjo begged, pulling at her once more, but she kept herself limp and dead and couldn't be moved. "Umi... how could you?" She asked her younger brother softly, looking at him with big sad eyes. Ashamed Umi shifted around, he didn't like Seth but he hated having his siter look at him like that even more. "Well, you seemed so... close to him..." He tried to explain but he stopped dead when Femi suddenly went from sad to furious.

Despite their grips on her arms Femi managed to jerk both arms out of Nuru and Adjo's hands. "I'm going shopping for dinner, I'll be home later." She barked at them angirly, shoving through them and stalking ahead. "Sister, don't do this!" Nuru complained, reaching out to grab her arm again, but Femi in her angery whirled around and smacked him. "Don't you dare call me sister when I'm this mad at you. Go home!" She yelled at them, not even bothered by the fact she was drawing a crowd to herself, as if they dragging her around hadn't been attention grabbing enough.

This time before they could protest or say anything Femi was off, running through the crowd and in the direction of the market at the city gates where the most distraction would be from people from distant lands; she needed the loud voices and louder distractions to keep her from crying in fury. Besides, it would give her a chance to test out the powers of her tattoo; how wonderous it would be to hear all languages as her own and for anyone who heard her speaking to hear it as their own langauge?

The vibrant sun beat down on the market place as people bustled about. Shouts were heard from all around: salesmen, and hagglers, even the children seemed to be screaming laughter. Isis stood under her worn tent with her family's goods. They had been blessed this time. The crops were plentiful. She knew many had not been as fortunate and were now struggling to get by. Her prayers and offerings must have been well recieved. A simple smile came across her lips as she pondered this.

As Isis allowed herself to get lost in her memories a young man came upon her stand. His shadow had caught her eye and snapped her back into the moment. She shook her head slightly when she saw her eldest brother, Malik. He went on and on about his new bride. They had been wed but a week ago and she hadn't seen him since. She listened patiently as he went on and on about their new life together, going into uneeded detail about their wedding night. Every now and then she would nod, letting him know she was still listening. As the minutes passed she kept an eye on the two men that were browsing the goods, making sure they didn't slip something into their robe.

With a wave Malik was off. Isis attended to the two men after they had picked their purchases. This left her with nothing to do. Her fingers fiddled with her hair as she lost herself in thought. But, once again, she was ripped back to reality when she heard a commotion down the street. Three men and a woman. Odd, the woman seemed to be the one taking the offensive. She watched in curiosity, as did everyone else in the market. A violent slap could be heard as it echoed down the street and that is when Isis began to focus back on her shop. She heard hte crowd suddenly start up again when the conflict had ended. She peered out into the streets by the corner of her eye, wondering which way the girl would have been headed.

((I second that sweatdrop Sorry I haven't posted for a bit either. I suppose I could have Hala trip over a scorpion or something random to shake things up a bit, if we're going to be staying in the desert until Az gets back 3nodding Do feel free to time skip ahead to the city though, so we can get this party started!))

Well, now I guess I can look at the facts a little more clearly... Even the thought was brittle and tentative, but she continued on anyway. First, they were in a desert. Obviously. But where was it, exactly? It had to be the Sahara, they couldn't have gone farther than that. Could they? She shuddered visibly at the idea and swallowed, trying to quell her fear with explanations before it got out of control again.

That storm must have just been a freak tornado or something, that's not unheard of. I've heard of some that picked fish out of the sea and dropped them back on dry land. That must be what happened… to all of us… and sent us back through time to Ancient Egypt. She barely held in another odd-sounding laugh, though a little guffaw managed to escape her as she fought down the resurging panic, steadying her shaking hands by holding onto her purse. She sighed, rubbing absently at her temple to stave off the familiar pounding headache that was beginning to build, not helped at all by the blazing heat. If it really is... and we got sent back here... Well, maybe someone in that city will have some answers...

This Amenophis that was leading them, he acted important. He must be, to have his own bodyguards like that. But where would he be taking them, and why did he seem so interested...? She frowned slightly, pondering to herself as they walked.

A tickling itch at her ankle stole her attention for a moment, and she paused and bent a little and reached down to scratch it. Her fingers brushed something smooth, almost... scaly. She frowned, craning her neck over her shoulder and flicking the hem of her skirt aside to see, and let out a terrified squeak, hopping abruptly aside and flicking the edge of her skirt back and forth in a frantic little dance. A small, sandy-brown scorpion clung to the sand-crusted hem as it swung wildly, its hairy, translucent little insect legs holding on for dear life as she tried to shake it off. Finally it flew free, tumbling into the air and landing with the tiniest thud in the searing sand a little more than a yard away, right toward the center of the group. It sat there stunned for a moment before it began to skitter randomly for cover from the burning sun, its curled stinging tail arched high over its head in fear as it scurried between tall shadows of the walking figures, dodging footfalls.

((No offense if he's still hanging around, but I'm not inclined to wait for people who go for a week without posting. I'll wait until I get acknowledgment from a few other people before I go and do anything like a time-skip, but this is getting very tedious...))

Aleks glanced at the woman who had begun to hop around, not realizing what she was doing until the scorpion came flying his way. At first he drew back, but then his curiosity overcame him and he cautiously stepped closer to it, leaning over and following it to watch it.

"Doesn't that mean it's one of the more deadly ones?" he asked idly, pointing. "Its size, I mean. I'm sure I heard somewhere that the smaller a scorpion is, the more deadly its poison. That must be a pretty bad one." His hand went to his phone, tempted to take a picture, but then he changed his mind. No sense wasting the battery.

((I'm all for it as well. What's the verdict, Kit?))

Hala watched wide-eyed as the insect spun toward the others, finding her voice after a moment and pointing down at the scorpion, "Watch out, there's a..." She trailed off, her eyes boggling as she watched the oddly familiar Latin-speaking man purposely draw closer to the deadly insect, actually looking... curious. Hala gave him a strange look, words failing her for a moment. Is he insane...? What remained of her own fear evaporated in an instant though as he leaned even closer to the deadly insect, and she stepped forward to tug back at his sleeve, with a rather sharp reprimand and a disapproving look normally reserved for small children, "Hey, be careful! They do sting. And we really can't be carrying anyone back to the... to the hospital just now."

((Kit: ^^ Hi! Borrowing Lunar's computer! Um, how do I put this... you guys DO control stuff, remember? We're walking, so anytime you're ready to come over the top of a dune or something and find yourself like... within running distance of it, feel free! ^^ In this brief moment I encourage you to god-mod! SO DO IT, DAMNIT! >> And let's hope my internet starts working again soon and Azrael decides to post... I KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE! >< ^^;; Hyper...))

Karah stared at them like they were utterly insane. "You do realize that those things are extremely poisonsous?" she stated stepping away from the small creature. She walked around the group and continued towards the city. "I swear where ever that one guy ((Alek)) must come from a very dim witted country" she sighed
