Anna dropped onto the sofa with a soft plop, trying not to wince as she, careless as usual, accidentally bumped her ankle against the couch. She watched Damian as he took of his coat, and, she was sad to say, was a bit disappointed when he chose the arm chair by the fireplace instead of the couch next to her. 'Hey, it's a free common room.' The voice in her head reminded her. And, though a tad belligerent, she had no choice but to amend that the voice was indeed correct.
"I'm doing fine now, thanks to you." Anna smiled a small smile.
She watched him carefully, seeing the flames dance in his brown hair, and could tell that he looked tired, though he was trying to hide it. That was just like him... always trying to protect her. And then came the guilt.
"You didn't have to carry me, you know." She told him softly, in a voice much weaker and more gentle than her usual tone. "Now, look," she began to joke, gesturing to him with her right hand, "I've gone and made you all tired. Oh, brilliant job, self."

Damian chuckled. "Well what if I said that I wanted to carry you, tiredness and all?" He was wondering how she would react to hearing this. She already knew that he really liked her, but he was still curious to see her reaction to this statement.
He pulled loose the bowtie that he was wearing and unbuttoned the top button on his shirt. It wasn't like he was stripping or anything like that, but no guy likes to be dressed up for so long. He placed bowtie on top of his jacket, which was laying on the arm of the armchair he was sitting in.He then leaned back in the armchair.

Anna smiled a little. "Oh, well, then I'd call you and inconsiderate git and tell you to think about someone else's feelings besides mine." She admitted honestly, but then quickly revised. "And then I'd probably get mad at you for two seconds, you know you make butterflies hatch in my stomach?, and then I'd feel bad. It's not your fault after all. It's not like your goal in life is to reduce me to a blithering mass of jello mold..." She trailed off and eyed him playfully, ... Riiight?"
Anna, suddenly grieving that she had decided not to wear a tank top under her dress robes, as it was getting a tad toasty in here, debated what to do. Of course, she had a wand and summoning always worked.. But Damian was right there.... Did she trust him enough? .... She didn't know the answer.

Damian laughed. "Do I really make butterflies hatch in your stomach?" He asked. To him, that was actually a flattering comment.
He began to roll up the sleeves of his dress shirt, revealing a pair of slightly-muscled forearms. He definitely wasn't overly muscular, but his arms had an okay amount of definition to them. "Is it just me or is it really hot in here?" he asked. He really hadn't expected to be so hot in the common room. But then again, they were sitting right next to the fireplace.

Anna nodded in the affirmative sense. "Yes!" She exclaimed, truly exasperated but over doing it. "Especially tonight! You've no idea what it feels like, Damian. It's like those bloody things have a party." She laughed just a little at her own joke.
Then, when the heat began to get to her, she wondered if she could make it up the stairs. Deciding she better, as she kind of had to, she couldn't very well change right here, though she supposed she could always shoo Damian away, she stood to her foot and took a step. As soon as her foot hit the ground she winced, biting her lip.
Forcing herself to smile, though it came out as a more of a grimace, she told him, "I'll be right back. I'm going to change. You know how much I hate dressing up." With a last smile that was oddly more genuine than the first, she suspected it had something to do with his forearms, she made her way up the stairs... Somehow.
----
Once changed, into pants that were much too big for her, at least width wise, but just about the right length, with Gryffindor colored gold and red vertical stripes on them, and a black shirt, clearly too big for her, adorned on her torso, she made her way back down to the common room.
"You know, I think I'm getting better at hopping on one foot." She told him jokingly, though she had hopped the better part of the way, plopping down on the sofa once more.

Damian laughed a bit as she hobbled around. 'Always so stubborn.' he thought. Seeing her changed into clothes that were a lot comfier, though rather big, he suddenly realized that he also would be more comfy in something else rather than dress robes.
"I'm going to follow suit and get changed as well. Despite how good everyone says I look in dressrobes, I'll still take pajama pants and a T-shirt over them any day."
He picked up his jacket and bowtie and strolled out of the common room into his dorm.
~~~
He returned a few minutes later, dressed in a pair of scarlett pajama pants and a grey t-shirt. Unlike Anna's clothes, his fit a lot better, though didn't hug his body. He sat down on the couch next to Anna.
Anna laughed at his comment; though, she noted, it wasn't terribly all that funny. But, hell, she liked him, a lot, she was entitled to act all ditzy and laugh at his comments that weren't at all funny at least once... a minute.
She watched him as he returned, unable to help but think that, for some odd reason, such comfortable clothes looked better on him than dress robes. Go figure. She, still feeling the awkwardness, and what was surely the tens of thousands of butterflies in her stomach by now, smiled despite herself.
"You look very fetching, Mr. Richards." She complimented him.
Damian raised an eyebrow at her comment. "Why thank you, Miss Wilcox. Might I say, you look rather gorgeous." Technically, Damian would have said that no matter what Anna was wearing, even a banana suit.
He reclined a bit against the back of the couch. It had certainly been a long day, even though there hadn't been any classes.
Anna grinned at his reactions, blushing just a tad, though she'd rather eat her potions text than admit it, at his comment. Which was especially odd, considering she'd just said very nearly the same thing to Damian and all he'd done was raise a brow.
She watched him recline, and, suddenly, she was very tempted to use him as her own personal pillow. Not that he'd mind, she was certain. However, she managed to restrain herself, instead settling for commenting.
"You certainly seem tired." She observed, ignoring the yawn that escaped her lips just after she spoke.
Damian shrugged his shoulders. "It's been a long day." he said. A yawn shotly followed afterward. "Anna! How many times do I have to tell you to stop yawning? You know that yawns are contagious." he said, mock scolding her.
His eyes began to feel a bit heavy and he didn't know if he felt like getting up and going to his dorm room to sleep. Maybe he would just stay here and sleep on the couch. After all, it was quite comfortable.
Anna grinned mischievously, and one could just see the kegs in her mind turning. She forced herself to yawn, a handy little talent she possessed, and waited for the barrage. However, it didn't come. For just in that moment, she'd realized something. They were in a big, empty common room. And, to add to it all, no one was even up stairs in their rooms. They were all at the dance...
Merlin's beard, she hated hormones. And, though the idea wouldn't have had the slightest affect on her last week, now it seemed to have just the opposite.
"I wonder if it echoes..." She wandered aloud, attempting to take her mind off of it. "Hello?" She called loudly, absurdly pleased when she heard the sound waves. "Go on." She nudged him helpfully, "You try."
"Hey!" Damian exclaimed when Anna nudged him, his eyes wide open. "No nudging or poking a sleepy person."
Hearing the echo, he grinned a little, but waved it off. "I'm too tired to yoddle." he said. "Maybe tomorrow morning, when everyone is asleep."
Anna giggled into her hand, justifying her action with the knowledge that that really was a funny retort. For everyone who didn't have a hang over or weren't planning on sleeping. "Awwwh, why not?" She pretended to pout.
Just for the heck of it, she nudged him again. "Maybe. But, seriously, Damain~! You can't be tired already! Shall I wake you up? I'll bounce on you if I must; don't think I won't."
"I am tired." he replied. "I've been up since early this morning. Too many prefect duties to take care of."
When Anna nudged him again, his eyes opened wider. "That's it: the gloves are off! Prepare to be poked." He hald up his index fingers, as though they were guns and proceeded to poke Anna in the side rapidly.
Anna stuck her tongue out at him when he mentioned prefect duties. "Oh, boo, you and your bloody prefect duties." She retorted sharply.
She blinked when he spoke again, sort of afraid. She rose a brow and an amused smirk painted her features when she saw he had pretended his index fingers were guns. She was about to say something along the lines of 'Don't you dare!', when suddenly the barrage was unleashed. She, thoroughly having fun with this now, hatched an idea. Only it didn't work exactly the way she'd wanted it to. Instead of locking both his wrists in her death grip, riding a broom while diving at the ground tended to do that to you, she had somehow managed to sit on them.
But she took it, none the less. "Ha!" She declared triumphantly. "Victory!"
