Athena shrugged, but did as she was told. One by one, slowly, carefully, she pulled each plug from the wall. Maybe this was more exciting than school, but it didn't make it much more interesting, if this was all that was going to happen. She avoided sparking plugs, as Ialo had told her, because she didn't want to cause a malreaction (she was smart, after all).
"...This is easy."

"Yeah speak for yourself this this is going crazy when it comes to energy flow. It keep fluctuating makes it harder to control this damn thing." Kai grumbled as his two right tendrils glowed brighter then his left to. "what did you make this with duct tape and a few unstable mana cores?" He asked the sarcasm in his voice bluntly obvious.

Ialo furtively glanced around as he carefully unplugged the damaged cables Athena had obediently skipped. "Maybe? And a little luck too?"
Actually, everything in the building was up to code... aside from Zero. It was just that most building regulations didn't take massive Altered God attacks into account.
He unplugged another cable and gasped, he stood up suddenly and whipped around to add his own magic to Kai's. Hardly a moment later, the converter shook so badly that the floor rumbled, and blue smoke poured forth.
"...."

Athena jumped, spinning around in the middle of looking for another cable, and stared. "Woah! Did that thing just almost go kaplooey?" she asked excitedly.

"YES. And if anyone outside this room noticed that, we are so, so, so <******** screwed." Ialo coughed as the blue smoke wafted upwards, drawn through cracks in the ceiling and through the vents.

Athena resisted the urge to 'oooo' at Ialo's use of the word '********' in front of her, a student. It would be childish, silly, and wholly Athena. But this wasn't a good place or time to do something like that, so she just bit her lip. "Do you want me to continue unplugging? Or should I stop?"

"Shoot!" Kai cringed as the sparks on his tendrils turned red and pushed his tendrils away only to be force back into place by Kai. "damn it just get the job done thanks." He roared as the Core's power was pulled into Kai changing his purple shade to purple. "this isn't as fun as it looks."

"No s**t," Ialo growled as he went back to unplugging the cables. There were thirty in all, some of varying sizes. Half of them were unplugged now, aside from heavily damaged ones. With each cable, the converter grew more and more unruly as it malfunctioned as lost power. Ialo really wanted to cut the power completely, but that would definitely result in an explosion.

Athena, though she hadn't gotten a straight answer, followed Ialo's lead and went back to unplugging the cables.

Kai growled losing in an unseen fight with the rebellious machine. every time a cord was unplugged His tendril was pushed away from the core causing small bolts of lightning to zap every which way.
"Ok calm down Kai you can handle the crystals you can handle this." He said letting his body turn back to purple. "this is trying to die one me, but it's cooling off some."

Ialo gently pried another cable from the wall, battling his own spark storm. The sheathing was torn, and the copper was bare. "Whatever it does, don't take that one poet's advice. The damn thing needs to go gently."
"Athena... I need you to get something. You've gotten all the undamaged cables already. You're the only one who can help me right now."

Athena grinned slightly, staring at Ialo. She struggled to keep her tail from wagging, as it might get caught in wires or something else that was not a good idea, and demanded, "What? What is it?"

Ialo pointed to the floor. "One level lower," he said. "There's a big black cube with a blue button. Hit the blue button, and the cube will turn off and shrink. Bring it to me, a.s.a.p."

Athena nodded quickly, her excitement obvious. "One level, black cube, blue button. Fetch." It was such a perfect and easy mission. She made her way, fast but careful, to find this black cube.

It didn't take too long for Athena to find the mysterious black cube with the blue button. She smiled and paused long enough to give herself a pat on the back, then tip-toed over to the box and hit the button with excitement that really should be reserved for things like roller coasters. Not hitting blue buttons on black cubes.
