Lana held onto her hat and Ducky's hand as he enthusiastically tugged her towards the nearest haunted house. "Haha easy now! That house ain't goin' nowhere." She insisted, though she was delighted that Ducky seemed to be enjoying himself. That was really why she wanted to bring him here. "Do you like this sorta thing? The whole spooky adventure maybe-get-some-jumpscares kinduva deal?" She asked curiously. Personally, Lana didn't like being truly scared, but she didn't find these haunted house setups scary so much as surprising and fun. Getting jumped at gave her a jolt but there was comfort in knowing it was all just harmless pranks and gags. "Well we only just started. Probably just don't wanna scare us away right out the gate b'fore they—Ah!" Lana jumped a little as a cardboard ghost sprung out, stopping right in front of her face. "Hahaha! They got me good! Well guess I was askin' for it anyhow." She chuckled, stepping around the "ghost" before continuing deeper in.

As Lana and Ducky continued to maneuver through the haunted house, nothing seemed to be happening once they'd gotten past the cardboard cutouts and small-scale pranks like alolan rattatas skittering across the floor and spinarak peering at them through thick corner cobwebs. The atmosphere itself was pretty creepy enough though. "Guess we gotta ride this thing out in waves. A little bit of a spook and then silence to lull ya back into a false sense of security. Pretty smart." Lana nodded. Though if that pattern kept repeating it would become expected and dull so she mildly hoped the planners had other tricks up their sleeves, if only for Ducky's sake. It wouldn't do to disappoint the boy after she'd gone and dragged him all the way out here. He'd seemed so excited about coming to this haunted house too. "T'be honest I kinda hope it doesn't get too scary. I like these things better when they're just low key silly stuff that's scary but fun. Never been much a fan of gore and blood mind you." She admitted.

Meanwhile, Cynthia took note of Daiki's behavior with a small amused smile. The zoroark really seemed to wear his heart on his sleeve, and his jealous fit was kind of adorable. ('The pleasure's all mine~') She gave a small bow and walked over to Daiki, leaning in from behind. ('You've got a nice arm, but if you miss your target then it doesn't matter how strong you are.') She commented smoothly in his ear and taking his hand in hers. ('Let's practice your aim, shall we?') Cynthia chuckled, going through a throwing motion with his hand before picking up one of the balls with her ear and tossing it at the cups with a fast flicking motion to knock them all over. It’s perfectly suited for children and beginners, after all,”Lukas teased playfully, a sly grin on his face. Zeraora huffed indignantly at the remark, he certainly was no child and he was certain he could smash one of the larger ones!”Hmph! I think I’ll try for the one that Jarl attempted earlier, actually,”he remarked insistently, returning the Litten’s devious expression with a daring leer as he picked one of the super-sized pumpkins as his target. He struggled to lift the hammer a bit, exerting as much strength as he could to heft it up and over to bring it down upon the squash.
Unfortunately, like Jarl Reidar, he barely managed to make even a dent in the strangely tough gourd. Damn… and he had been hoping to prove that little cat b*****d wrong by actually managing to destroy it in one swing, or at least do some pretty good damage to it. The Zeraora tried his best to not look too dejected as he accepted the single ticket consolation prize, remembering how the Pangoro didn’t let a menial loss like this get to him so easily. And even then, it wasn’t totally a loss, though he couldn’t help but feel a bit insulted that they felt the need to give out a single ticket as a ‘Well, you tried’ sort of deal.”Ya did th’ bes’ ya can, certainly wasn’ ‘alf bad fer a firs’ try~”Jarl Reidar, ever the optimist, attempted to give him some positive reinforcement as he handed the panda the single ticket. Even Lukas was giving him a look of sympathy, which the Zeraora couldn’t help but feel rather conflicted about. On one hand, he know the Litten was doing his best to support him in his own way, even if it wasn’t necessarily as direct as Jarl Reidar’s compliments and praise. On the other, he didn’t exactly like being pitied because he messed up or was unsuccessful; it only made him more confident to do better at the other games if anything else. The pumpkin search game, unfortunately, didn’t go over quite as well either as the pumpkin Lukas brought back held a meager stash of two tickets inside. The Zeraora felt his frustration starting to build up a bit at their seemingly terrible luck with the games so far, like a storm that was gradually brewing inside of him… Although, thinking more on it now, Storm would hardly be a bad name to go by... especially if he was going to possibly have a name of his own once he joined his future trainer’s team alongside Lukas and Jarl Reidar. The Zeraora hummed to himself as he fixated on this train of thought while they made their way over to the next set of games.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【As they headed for the last couple of games that they would be able to play for now, Lukas couldn’t help but notice that Zeraora seemed to be a bit deep in thought. The Litten cocked his head slightly as he curiously eyed the legendary, tempted to ask what it was he was thinking so hard about. Then again, he felt that it wasn’t really his place to intrude… However, it seemed he didn’t have to as the electric cat spoke up not long after.”You know, I’ve been thinking… If we’re going to be on a team together, then surely I’d need a name like the ones you both have, right?”Zeraora inquired, unsure of whether it was common for all trained Pokemon to have these strange human names to go by, but felt that it would be fitting if he was to have a trainer as well,”If so… Then how does the name Storm sound…?”Lukas’s eyes lit up at that, and he didn’t hesitate to nod in agreement.”Sounds quite fitting, especially since you’re an Electric-type,”he commented lightly, waving his tail amiably at their legendary companion,”I’m sure Zoey would appreciate it too, not that I’d doubt she probably would’ve thought up a pretty decent name for you.”Thinking about it now, the Litten wasn’t entirely certain how she had thought to name him ‘Lukas’, or if there was a certain meaning behind the name itself. He wished he could ask her, though he wasn’t a Psychic type who could communicate with their trainers via telepathy. Although… from what he had gleaned so far from his experiences with his new trainer and team it seemed the Alolan Ninetales in particular, Eir he believed her name was, was capable of talking with Zoey. Maybe he could ask her to translate his thoughts to her for him, since he couldn’t exactly do it himself…
”’Tis a fine name, lad~ Certainly suits ya quite well, if I do say so m’self!”Jarl Reidar cut in, humming in clear approval of the Zeraora’s chosen name. Hearing his companion’s approval was a good spirit boost, and the legendary felt more and more confident.”I suppose it’s decided then, from here on out I will be Storm,”the newly named Zeraora spoke with a wide grin, feeling quite proud of it. With newfound confidence brimming in his veins, he was happy to try out the web crawl game, figuring that if he ended up hurting himself from falling off it wouldn’t be any worse than that beating he had gotten from Gar earlier. Besides, the rope wasn’t all that far off the ground, so he felt that it wouldn’t be that big an issue. Taking his place on one side, the Zeraora began to make his way across the rope, though his staggering pace made it a bit difficult at first to traverse the ‘web’. Barely managing to maintain his balance when the rope jerked about, Storm decided that he would have to change his technique up a bit since just walking across wasn’t making too much progress. With that in mind, he maneuvered into a new position as he now dangled from the rope, his arms helping to pull him along while his legs were wrapped around the ‘web’ in a way so he could keep his grip and slide himself as he moved. It proved to be pretty effective as he managed to almost make it to the other side, until the rope bounced about so violently that Storm couldn’t maintain a good grip on it and ended up falling off. Reacting quickly, he braced his arms and legs so that they helped lessen the force of the impact, thankfully saving him from sustaining any further injury.”Very nicely done,”Lukas commented, seeming quite impressed as he eyed the wad of nine tickets that the Zeraora brought back with him. Jarl Reidar nodded in agreement as he accepted the tickets and added them to the stash as they moved on to the apple bobbing game, with Storm feeling quite proud of himself as well. However, the apple bobbing game went over with slightly less desirable results. The Zeraora tried to use the same technique as last time since it had proven quite effective, but his eagerness made it a bit difficult for him to maintain focus as he lunged for the apples. In the end, he did manage to snag at least one, not exactly his best performance but at least a single apple was better than none at all. He accepted his two ticket prize from the game master and quickly returned to his companions, eager to take another crack at the games when it came time to play again.】☆ ☆

The old man dried his hands wistfully, shooting a cold glance at his companion, who merely averted his gaze. “You've become a bit cocky since our gym battle. Selfish too. Until you learn some manners..." The old man took out Masura's pokeball and attempted to recall him. The mouse simply hopped to the left. After a few more attempts, and swearing, Masura was properly recalled. “I really wish I knew someone who could teach you a lesson in humility." He glanced down at his duffel bag and stolen lucre. “Mew knows, I got lucky with that skelethug." He let out a sigh. “Let's try aiding others and see how that feels."
Pumpkin Search 6 He approached some little kids reaching into various different pumpkins for tickets. They recoiled at his approach. He held up a hand to calm them. Do not vorry. None of you are my type.. my vlood type." He gave short chuckle. "I just wanted to share some ancient vampire visdom.. er wisdom with you." He reached into a nearby pumpkin. "Now if you want a bunch of tickets, you may be tempted to grab the largest bag you find. However if you use your fingers, like your thumb and pointer finger... you can actually feel the tickets in the bag." He pulled out a bag. "See 6 tickets, just as I predicted." He held the bag in front of him triumphantly. "Now be sure to tell all the nice ladies here that Mr. Vampire helped you out." He gave a wink and wandered off.
Squash Smash SS 5 The old man approached a small group of strangers who were playing some of the games.“Ya' know folks." He hefted a wooden mallet over his shoulder. “Most of these games have a trick or a gimmick unknown to good, honest folks like us." A smirk ran up his face and his eyes flashed with insight. “Some of these squashes are firmer than the others. And I don't just mean the bigger ones either. You see they use a chemical hardening agent. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice that the harder ones have a slight, but noticeable unnatural sheen to them. Observe. Oh, and be sure to arc your swing." The old man brought the hammer down to a loud thwump. “As you saw, my technique was spot on, however notice that I only cracked it." He started walking away and gave a friendly wave. “Now go! Smash as many as you want with the secret in mind."

"Hey Mister Vampire!" The old man was sitting on a bale of hay pondering his next move. “Hrm?" The group of children he showed the trick to pumpkin search reappeared in front of him. "That was really cool what you showed us, can you show us any more?" The old vampire was touched, and he smiled softly. "I suppose I can part with some more ancient wisdom." The old man accompanied the children to a few more game stalls.
Apple Bobbing x4 "Ah, yes bobbing for apples. This game is deceptively 'easy'. " The old man took off his suit jacket and rolled up his sleeves. "There are two tricks when bobbing for apples, and neither a pleasant." He got on his knees and bobbed deep into the tub. He came back with an apple in his mouth. "The first is to find an apple and push it all the way to the bottom. This may be unpleasant and might ruin your costume makeup, but it's a sure thing." He bobbed again this time pushing his face to the side of the tub. He once again came back with an apple. "The second is pushing it to the side and grabbing it then from the side." He grabbed a towel and set it to his side. "If you just try to hit and apple it will bounce in the water, because of its buoyancy, hence why I suggest grabbing it once pushing it against something to stable it. " He bobbed a third time rapidly trying to grab at apples with his face. He came back with no apples. He dried his face and put his coat and cape back on. "Geeze mister how'd you get so smart?" He gave a soft smile. "Well my dear children, it's not that I'm smart. It's simply because I observe. Which means, even you can find solutions to your own problems in the future, simply by looking it from different angles." He was met with varying looks of understanding, as his own eyes schemed. "Hey kids, if you want me to teach you another lesson, and you want some free ice cream, gather all your friends and meet me by the guy pushing around an ice cream cart."
Kenjiro waited until he heard voices demanding ice cream. He smiled and approached the noise. The man in a Popsicle costume was cornered by a large group of costumed children. "We want free ice cream!" They bellowed. Kenjiro smiled as his plan more or less worked as he suspected. The crowd as larger than he expected, but it worked to his advantage. He strolled casually through to the crowd of children before addressing the salesman. "Seems you're in a bit of a pickle. Any chance you have a pecha cone?" The salesman looked at Kenjiro incredulously. "Are you kidding? I have to deal with this crowd first. No you CAN'T have ICECREAM for FREE!" The salesman response was met with jeers from the crowd. "Ya' know I think we can help each other out. How about you sell me a single ice cream for each and everyone in this crowd at a reduced price? How's at 15% sound? " "Are you crazy that's highway robbery!" "Have it your way. " Kenjiro turned away, his face full of scheming malice. "Sorry kids this mean man, just doesn't want to let me buy ice cream for all of you." He began to walk away as the crowd became irritated and louder. "Wait wait wait! Can you do 35%?" Kenjiro looked at the man, without responding, before turning away. "Wait, no... 25% is the best I can do! Please just help me out here!" "Deal! 25% Now kids form an orderly line and we'll get your ice cream." To the salesman's surprise the children formed an orderly line. Kenjiro handed the man a wad of cash, and he himself bought an ice cream.
Kenjiro sat around a group of children, all eating ice cream. One kid spoke up and looked at him in earnest. "Thank you for the ice cream, but how did you get it so cheap? Kenjro smiled taking a bite of his pecha cone. "Well first, I had your friends gathered with the promises of free ice cream, and I waited until you became a bit unruly,by doing so I created a tense situation. Then I offered a really low number 15%, knowing that there's no way he could do so even if he wanted." Kenjiro smiled and thought of his office days. "It helped that I was buying in bulk, which just means a lot at once. Sometimes places will give discounts when you do it like that. I continued to put pressure on him until he reached my original target of 25%." Kenjiro stood up. "Now kids, I'm going to take a walk before the heat shows up. If you really want to thank me. You can give Mr. Bonenjangles a hug. He's a skeleton walking around with a pirate. And He LOVES hugs." He bowed and vanished into the night.

Gekkit nodded, agreeing with PJ (who was sort of agreeing with him, on needing better moves). [ "Huh, different types?" ] He cocked his head. [ "What does that mean?" ] he asked. [ "I guess... you have to show that you're one of those? Like... what Chima's doing could be cute?" ] He pointed a paw at his brother, who was currently practicing puppy-dog eyes while a pink wind flowed around him in playful swirls.

Arezu looked steadily at Koda, thinking that she was going to have words with Flurry after this. If he was choosing not to talk to her like Ai had been... well s**t, actually, that was his choice, wasn't it? She sighed heavily, shaking her head. "Sorry, just... I've got a Wispard too. Didn't know he should be able to talk to me. Not like that's new," she grumbled under her breath. She wasn't actually mad, but it hurt when her pokemon kept secrets from her.
Jay's observation about Hakuren floored Arezu so hard that she stared at him. It took her a moment to realize she should say something. "Y-yeah he is. How- what? How can you tell?" Seriously, what the <********>, blind dude? She started paying attention to how he was moving through the room, curious about him now. She almost absent-mindedly handed the first puzzle piece over.
"Hey, found another one," Hakuren said, tossing a second piece back at them. It nearly hit Arezu in the face but she managed to catch it and pass it off to Jay as well. The next time he found one he just grunted and tossed it, but the girl was prepared and caught it easily. "Careful."

Niji walked with mounting amusement. He watched as a certain redhead's performance got worse and worse, and a along with that her mood. He liked to think it was because she'd noticed he was following her.
If only he had someone to make a bet with on how long it'd take her to do something about it.
As much as Niji cared for his little family and would do anything for them, this human festival wasn't somewhere he would normally go to. When he caught sight of Scarlett in the crowd, he was mildly surprised by his own genuine interest. Given his habits, he hadn't expected to see her again. At least, not when he was letting Arezu choose where they traveled.
Niji followed her around a corner, positive that when he did she'd be right there waiting to call him out. Would she try to get up in his face, angrily asking why he was following her? Maybe she'd try to get physical, or threaten him. That'd be cute.

☆ ☆【Zoey smiled warmly as she gestured towards the corn maze, waiting for Mitsu to confirm that he was indeed ready so they could start heading over. All the while, Maja hovered around the young man, taking in everything she could of his person to store away in her memory for later. Mitsu seemed to give off an air about him that seemed… quite different from any other average person, and the little Ghost-type couldn’t help but feel very interested in learning more about him in general. However, the Danshen soon found her attention being drawn to something else that was equally just as interesting. Only about ten yards away from where they stood, she could swear that she could just make out a certain trio that was making their rounds with the festival games in the large crowd nearby. She easily recognized Jarl Reidar, it wasn’t that hard to spot the Pangoro considering how tall he was, and Lukas, the Litten perched up on his larger companion’s shoulder so that he didn’t have to worry about being lost in the crowds. It was their third party member that really caught her eye, quite literally in this case, an odd yellow cat-like Pokemon that certainly hadn’t been with them before when Zoey let them out to explore the festival grounds. Perhaps they had befriended a stray Pokemon at some point during their adventures?
”Danshen, dan!”she chirped aloud, alerting Zoey just before the little puffball immediately took off, following after the trio just as they disappeared into the crowd again so she didn’t lose sight of them. ”Gah… Seriously?! We’re doin’ this again, Maja?” the woman exclaimed, she would’ve thrown up her hands in exasperation but remembered in time that she was still holding a half-full cup of spiked cider in one of them. The last thing Zoey wanted to do was waste good alcohol, after all. But Arceus dammit, couldn’t she have at least one moment where her Pokemon weren’t just running off on their own this way and that? ”Sorry,” she hastily said to Mitsu as she took off to try and catch up with the Danshen, with Torgeir running closely behind her. Eir gave a groan of disappointment that they had to part ways again so soon, but gave a cheerful bark and wagged her tails towards the young man before turning to run after her trainer, not wanting to lose track of her in the hustle and bustle.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Zoey kept a tight, careful grip on her cup of cider as she maneuvered her way through the crowd, making sure she didn’t accidentally break it as she looked around for her little wanderer. She felt bad for just leaving Mitsu like that after she had agreed to do the corn maze with him, she hoped he wouldn’t be too offended at least at her rather rapid departure... Under any other circumstance, she would’ve stayed with him, but she would rather not have to try to track Maja down if the Danshen was allowed to just go off whenever she pleased. Surely he would understand… at least she hoped so. It didn’t take long for her to catch up with the little furball, however, as she finally noticed what had grabbed Maja’s attention so abruptly. Huh, she had wondered where those two had gotten off to, guess they had managed to find their way over to the midway after all. But who was that other Pokemon with them? Zoey swore that the yellow bipedal feline creature looked familiar… she surely read about it somewhere before, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it… She supposed she could worry more on it later, right now there were more important matters that needed to be tended to. ”Right, I think it’s time ya have a bit of time out,” she said with a sigh as she pulled out Maja’s Pokeball, she’d rather not have to worry about trying to keep tabs on the curious Danshen every time she decided to just go off on her own.
The little Ghost-type gave a disappointed sounding trill, but didn’t put up any resistance as she was returned, allowing Zoey to exhale deeply in relief. That was enough of that for now, she supposed she should see who Jarl and Lukas’s new friend was since the cat-like Pokemon seemed to be sticking with them pretty insistently. As she made her way over, the woman quickly pulled up her Xtransceiver and typed up a message to Mitsu to let him know that he could go on ahead without her if he was going to still do the corn maze. Maybe they could meet up again sometime later, she know he had mentioned that the haunted house wasn’t really an option for him because of his fear of the dark, maybe they could try their hand at making some Halloween-themed treats together? He did say he came in from Alola as well, if she recalled correctly. If all else failed, they could probably meet up somewhere along the road if they happened to end up in the same area together. Sending it off with a nod of affirmation, Zoey glanced up just in time to see Jarl Reider try to break the super-sized pumpkin at the squash smash game. She blinked a bit when it seemed that he only just barely put a bit of a dent in it, though the Pangoro didn’t seem too upset by it as he accepted the single ticket he was handed. ”Ya’ll havin’ fun so far?” the woman asked with a grin as she approached them, drawing their attention.
Jarl Reidar flashed a big smile and a thumbs up, even if the festival games did get a bit repetitive at times he was still having a pretty nice time. Lukas purred softly as he waved his tail, as much as he’d prefer to be battling this festival was a rather nice temporary vacation before they really got going with their island trials. And it hadn’t been a complete waste to come here, those rare candies he’d had earlier definitely helped him boost his strength quite a bit. Surely they’d be more than ready to take on the Melemele trial after they got back to Alola! Zoey chuckled softly, glad to see her Pokemon in such high spirits, it certainly hadn’t been a half-bad idea to attend this festival. Of course, there were still a couple things she wanted to check out around here before they returned to Alola, namely the haunted house. Hopefully she could get around to them before the festival ended. ”Glad to hear, we’ll probably head back to Alola sometime soon after we do a few more things,” she suggested, before her eyes roamed over towards the strange Pokemon that was accompanying them, ”And who’s this? New friend of yers?” She wondered if maybe they had run into this Pokemon at some point, and it had just decided to stick around with them this whole time.”You could say that, yes,”a rather young-sounding male voice spoke up to her, momentarily startling the woman before she realized it was the strange Pokemon addressing her. It was a bit strange, she wasn’t used to being able to hear any other Pokemon aside from Eir talk to her like this…
The yellow feline carefully climbed down from Jarl Reidar’s back, only now she could see that it had sustained some pretty harsh injuries as it hobbled a bit to stand closer to her, making a semi-dramatic sweeping motion with its arms as it bowed to her greeting.”You must be Zoey then, I assume?”it spoke up once again, though the way it phrased it made it sound more like a statement than a question,”My name is Storm, though you’ll likely know me better as Zeraora, the name of my kin.”Zeraora… she had certainly heard the name before, the gears were really starting to turn in her head now. From what she recalled, Zeraora were very rare Pokemon that could be more or less equated to legendaries, they could generate powerful magnetic fields that allowed them to levitate and fly at high speed, and were also lightning fast on their feet to boot. ”I see… But aren’t yer kind mainly native to Alola? What’s somethin’ like ya doin’ all the way out here in Kalos, a bit far from home, aren’t ya?” she asked, wondering why and how a Zeraora of all things ended up here in a completely different region, especially given that Kalos was pretty far from Alola.”I would certainly tell you if I knew the answer, unfortunately my memories from before I somehow ended up here are rather... foggy at best,”Storm responded with a frown as he shook his head, folding his arms across his chest as he nodded towards Jarl Reidar and Lukas,”Your companions here helped me get out of a bit of a tight spot, which I’m truly grateful for. In return for their aid, I wish to request to join you and the rest of your allies on the condition that you’ll take me with you back to Alola.”
Huh… that was certainly quite surprising, it wasn’t every day that a Pokemon that was more or less a legendary simply requested to join your team. Still, it was clear that the Zeraora wasn’t going to take no for an answer, plus an Electric-type could come in handy on her team. ”Well, I don’t see why not, since ya offered I might as well take ya up on that,” she said with a grin and a shrug, she would certainly be remiss to pass up on an opportunity like this, ”If yer really sure about this, at least.” Storm simply grinned, gesturing for Jarl Reidar to hand over the GS Ball they had gotten from their run through the corn maze. The Pangoro wasted no time complying, pulling the capsule out and placing it in the Zeraora’s outstretched hand.”Believe me when I say I’m one-hundred and ten percent certain,”he assured with a nod, tapping the GS Ball against his head to effectively capture himself before handing it over to Zoey,”There, it’s done. You may consider me as one of your allies from here on out.”Still in a bit of disbelief, Zoey accepted the GS Ball that was now linked to the Zeraora and placed it in her bag, retrieving a few potions while she was at it. ”Uh… thanks, I guess. Storm, was it? Lemme take care of those real quick for ya,” she suggested, holding up the potions she pulled out as she carefully approached him. The woman spritzed the medicine all over him, and already Storm could feel his wounds healing over and his energy returning to him.”Ah, finally… Much better,”the Zeraora sighed in relief, assuming a strong, confident pose now that he was able to stand much straighter and was functioning at max capacity as he nodded gratefully to his new trainer.
Well, now that that was taken care of… That just left Zoey wondering where to go next from here. She supposed that if Mitsu was going to go on ahead and do the corn maze on his own, then maybe she could check out one of the many different haunted houses they had around here. ”We’re probably goin’ to try out the haunted house, might as well while there’s still time,” she suggested, looking towards the trio, ”The three of ya wanna come with? Or would ya prefer to just play games for now? There’s plenty of stuff to check out here in the midway~” Jarl Reidar simply shrugged, he was having plenty of fun as is just playing the games, though if his companions wanted to try out the haunted house then he wouldn’t mind doing that either. Lukas, on the other hand, wasn’t all that interested in it, giving a curt little meow as he shook his head.”I think I’ll also stay with Lukas and Jarl and play the games, if you don’t mind,”Storm chipped in, he would rather not have to deal with more large, convoluted areas that were easy to get lost in after the whole ordeal in the corn maze. ”Suit yerselves, just don’t wander off too far so it’ll be easier for us to find each other when it’s time to head back to Alola,” she stated, her voice carrying a slight commanding undertone to it as she nodded to them. She would rather not have to spend too much trying to find them again when it came time for them to take their leave of the festival. The three of them nodded back in understanding, and then the two parties went their separate ways with the threesome of Jarl Reidar, Lukas, and Storm heading to the main midway area to play some more games and Zoey and her own little entourage going off towards one of the haunted houses to really get their spook on.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【As they got closer and closer, the haunted house seemed to gradually grow all the more imposing than it had looked from afar. From the looks of it, the building itself appeared to be styled like a traditional Victorian-styled manor with three floors. Aside from the rather drab grey-colored exterior and odd broken window scattered about, it didn’t really seem all that different from any other house that one might find in an area where lots of rich folks and bigwigs would live.”S-Seems spooky…”Eir piped up as she gazed up at the creepy building that now loomed over them, voice shaky as she tried and failed to withhold her nervousness,”Do we really have to go in there?”Zoey couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, reaching down to gently brush her fingers against the Ninetales’ thick mane without accidentally upsetting the mask on her face. ”Like I said, it’s mostly just gonna spook ya and maybe get yer heart goin’ a bit, but nothin’s actually gonna harm ya,” she reassured softly, knowing that Eir didn’t exactly deal too well with ghosts and horror in general, ”Still, if ya really don’t wanna go then I ain’t gonna force ya, maybe ya can go join Jarl and the others to play some more games.” The Ninetales shook a bit as she looked back up at the haunted house, most of the windows were either shuttered closed or completely dark, save for one that gave off a soft orange-colored glow right on the top floor. It was tempting to take Zoey’s offer to go join the threesome in the main midway area to play games, extremely tempting… But still, she wanted to try to put on a brave face for once and just take on the haunted house, at least to prove that she wasn’t going to chicken out of this so easily. The fact that she wouldn’t be going in alone was a bit of a comforting thought, as long as she stuck close to Zoey and the rest then surely nothing could go wrong, right?

”Well it’s very nice to meet ya, Orph,” Zoey reciprocated with a light laugh and a bright smile as she took the Zoroark’s proffered hand and gave it a hearty shake, not at all phased by the Dark-type’s rather creepy theatrics, ”We’re gonna shoot for makin’ it all the way to the top, for sure!” Orpheus quirked a brow at this, he could already tell that this woman was one of those types who didn’t scare too easily, which could be a bit of pain since scaring the pants off of their clients was half the fun of it. Another sudden gust blew in across the entryway, and next thing she knew the Zoroark was gone, having vanished like dust in a windstorm. ”Well, won’t be gettin’ anywhere fast just standin’ around, let’s head in,” Zoey suggested with a nod, finishing up the last of the spiked cider and tossing it into a nearby waste bin as she stepped into the house, followed closely by Torgeir and a rather reluctant Eir. The moment they took their last steps across the threshold, the door instantly slammed shut behind them with a resounding ‘BOOM’, leaving them at the mercy of the haunted house’s interior. The entrance gave way to a huge, airy foyer, adorned with old wooden tables covered with dusty old books and archaic artifacts and dimly lit by the large glass chandelier that swung lazily overhead. Well, it was probably a good sign that nothing had exactly jumped out at them the moment they entered, but they were just getting started, after all. Eir felt her fur starting to stand on end, her eyes darting every which way as they walked through the foyer, not liking the way the dim, moving overhead light made their shadows dance in strange, almost unnatural ways along the walls...】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Walking past the foyer, they found themselves inside a large sitting room. A furniture set consisting of a dusty and ragged-looking couch surrounded by worn leather chairs and a darkly stained table made up the centerpiece of the area, accompanied by a couple of strangely tall bookshelves packed to the brim with all different manner of old tomes that sat on either side of one of the two other doorways leading in and out of the room aside from the way they had come in through the foyer. Yet another glass chandelier swung from the ceiling overhead, casting a dim, wavering golden glow on the room below. It seemed that a whole lot of nothing had happened so far, then again, it was likely to lure them into a false sense of security… Zoey hummed in intrigue as she poked around the room, Torgeir seemed content to just stand in the center as he looked all around, especially noting the darkened areas behind furniture and in the corners where the light didn’t quite reach. ”Huh… do these places always have all kinds of crap like this just scattered all over?” the woman murmured to herself as she eyed a small collection of Purrloin figurines, which seemed very well-crafted and almost like the Pokemon they were modeled after. And yet… there was something about them that just didn’t seem quite right… As if they were trying to seem like truly accurate models but they weren’t quite there yet, and it was easy to tell that there was something off about them.
Eir kept close to Zoey the whole time, not daring to step away from her side for even one second. This place was very, very unsettling… she was already on edge and nothing had even happened yet aside from them going through different rooms full of all kinds of rather… ‘interesting’ objects. Sudden movement out of the corner of her eye startled her as she noticed a moving lump inside Zoey’s coat, though her brief moment of anxiety was somewhat quelled as Ingrid dropped down. Ah, she had almost forgotten that the Meleeon had been taking shelter inside their trainer’s coat, but now that they were away from the bright noisiness of the main midway area she felt comfortable enough to move around on her own. Ingrid took the opportunity to start sniffing around, taking in the sights and smells of these new surroundings. The Meleeon’s ears perked in interest when she noted one of the doorways led into a large kitchen area, giving a yip to catch Zoey’s attention as she padded her way inside.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Zoey chuckled softly as she heard Ingrid’s bark, glancing over to see the Meleeon already heading through the doorway that led into what she could only assume was the kitchen. ”I don’t think they’d have any food here in a haunted house, Ingrid,” she chided, gesturing for Torgeir to come along as she followed after the Eevelution. The interior of the kitchen seemed very close to what she had expected to find in a fancy, high-end home like this one appeared to be. Hardwood flooring, rows of cabinets, a large gas stove, stacked ovens, a refrigerator, a pair of double doors that surely lead into a spacious larder, a large hanging display of pots and pans of every size over the huge central ‘island’, and, of course, a couple of small chandeliers that illuminated the room. ”They really like their chandeliers, huh?” Zoey said to no one in particular, she was starting to wonder if that was all they used to provide a means of lighting around this place. The counters were caked in at least a few inches of dust, the cracked ceiling overhead had numerous good-sized holes scattered around, and the stove was splattered with spots of what she assumed was some kind of burnt unknown substance upon closer inspection… Either way, Zoey assumed it was probably best to not touch it. Eir wrinkled her nose as she sniffed the air, it certainly smelled rather stale in here, and just faintly of burnt food as if someone had been cooking in here not too long ago… Strange… Ingrid scratched at the doors of the larder, yipping for Zoey to come and open it up since it seemed to be shut pretty tight. ”There probably ain’t anythin’ in there, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to check,” Zoey said with a soft sigh and a shrug, walking over and inspecting the doors. The off-white paint was really peeling off in some places, and she could’ve sworn she could make out what looked like scratch marks that carved shallow grooves into the wood, and certainly not in places where Ingrid could reach…
The iron knobs were covered in flaking rust, though it didn’t faze Zoey in the least as she grabbed one of them and turned, ignoring the roughness that ground against her palm in the process. Slowly, she opened it, on immediate sight she could see that the inside of the larder was dark as night, but the crack of the now ajar door allowed some of that slightly dim light from the rest of the kitchen to spill inside. The thin rays of light caught on a large pair of sharp, deep green eyes just inside the door, and suddenly with a rattling hiss and a loud yowl a black Purrloin came tearing out from the darkness of the larder. Eir yelped aloud, scrambling for cover behind the island as the ebony menace darted around Zoey’s legs, jumped up onto the countertop and made a flying leap for the hanging rack overhead. Pots and pans were shaken about chaotically, stirring up an awful cacophony of clanging and banging as the Purrloin’s hasty escape disturbed them just before it flew through one of the holes in the ceiling and was gone. ”Yeesh, that was certainly somethin’…” Zoey remarked after the noise had quieted down as she looked up towards where the little cat had vanished, not seeming the least bit startled at the whole ordeal, ”Think we might’ve just had a bit of our luck shaved off with that…” The woman left the larder door open so Ingrid could check it out, the Meleeon more than happy to bump the door open the rest of the way with her flank as she headed inside in search of food. ”Ya alright, Eir?” Zoey asked as she moved around the island to find the Alolan Ninetales, who was still staying low to the ground, eyes turned upwards as if expecting the spooky Purrloin to drop back in from the ceiling and terrorize her some more. ”Hey, it was just a little cat, nothin’ to really be scared of, right?” she soothed gently, giving the ice fox a couple of gentle pats on the back, being careful to not disturbs any of the little decorations of her costume. Eir took a deep breath, trying to get herself to calm down a bit as she tuned in to her trainer’s words. Right… it was just a cat… She was bigger than a Purrloin, dammit, she shouldn’t be scared of something that was so much smaller than her! Although, it wasn’t so much the thing itself that had scared her, it was more the unexpectedness of it, especially since nothing had happened at all up until that…”I-I know that!”she piped up insistently, quickly straightening herself as she stood up, huffing as she cast a narrowed glare towards the larder,”It just surprised me was all!”Still… things were already starting to not look good for the Ninetales. If a small scare like that had already gotten her all worked up and anxious like this, then at this rate she doubted she would fare any better against whatever else they might encounter during their trek through this godforsaken house…】☆ ☆
