Death is a joke...


































Scarlet scratched the back of her head with a slight laugh. "Yeah he seems like a bit of a pill..." she agreed as she watched the man sir up the crowd around him. Fleur shrugged, her arms folded. "Eh, I don't really care. I was just curious." She looked back at the fight as the screeching of the gears became more and more apparent. "Whatever that Infernal Engine is it sure makes a lot of noise," she noted in annoyance. Scarlet grinned. "Just wait 'till it gets started," she replied. Her grin didn't fade as the scent of death covered the battlefield. "Whaddaya think Queen?" She asked. "Looks like your BFF underwent some upgrades huh?"

Jessica gasped, taking two deep breaths as Misty allowed her a quick respite before plunging her in again. Her eyes remained closed but she shifted slightly, clearly in pain though for the moment she seemed to be able to keep it contained. When Misty touched her hamstrings she let out a cry of pain. "I-I'll do my best!" She promised, her words spoken through terse lips. Back in the Arena Jessica shot towards the Madchen again in a surprising burst of speed. As she reached the Madchen she attacked in a blur of motion, using her Flash Fighting ability to rapidly chain attacks with both kicks and swings of Misty's blade. But this time the Madchen went on the offense as well having prepared herself for another such assault. They traded blows at frightening speed but The Arena Master had chosen their opponent well: while Jessica as blocking most of Spitze Madchen's attacks, a few were getting through causing lacerations and cuts across Jessica's body. Within their Weapon room Jessica grimaced. "I've...got ....to be faster...." she breathed as more energy poured into her from Misty and the engine. The two were moving so fast that were anyone to get in between them they would be cut to ribbons in seconds. Fortunately Klaudia didn't even need to come close. As the two were fighting suddenly huge shards of what looked like bone erupted from the ground underneath The Madchen in an attempt to impale her. But Spitze Madchen was faster and managed to dodge the spikes. Still, this created the opening Jessica needed. With a deadpan expression she rushed forward and passed Madchen's extended chains to deliver a powerful slash across her torso followed by a high kick directly to the chin that lifted Spitze Madchen clean into the air. Their opponent quickly recover and landed several yards away but it was clear that the team had scored two direct hits on her. Madchen grimaced and spit out a bit of blood. "Is that all you got?" She asked. Neither Jessica nor Klaudia responded to her taunt. Inside their Weapon room Jessica spoke again. "I can...stronger....I need to be stronger..." she muttered, wincing as a slow-burning pain began to creep through her body.

Scarlet nodded sagely as Queen gave her advice on how not to be taken advantage of by the laughing man. "Yep! Anyone who's willing to capture a young girl for their own sick amusement is a terrible person in my book," she agreed. Fleur merely rolled her eyes at this comment, looking back to the battle as it seemed to shift in favor of Jessica, Misty and Klaudia. "We aren't your babysitters," she replied in annoyance when Queen asked them to keep an eye on her. "Don't worry, we'll keep an eye on her," Scarlet replied with a smile and a nod. She too looked back at the fight. "What do you think?" She asked Queen. "It's a fierce weapon isn't it?"

Jessica winced as she felt the blood pour over her in the Weapon Room. Nevertheless she kept her eyes shut. In a way it was still a relief from the blistering heat. As the madness grew within her Jessica seem to lose and and more focus on where she was and became less and less affected by what was happening around her. Outside on the arena floor she rushed forward at Spitze Madchen again and began a furious exchange of sword and chain with her. They fought in a blur of motion before Jessica leaped back again. Though this time it wasn't to reassess her opponent. There was a flash and her free hand turned into a long, dark gun barrel.



Jessica raised her gun barrel and began to fire rapidly at Spitze Madchen. The rapid *crack-crack-crack-crack* of the gunfire echoed throughout the arena along with the pinging of the shots off of Spitze Madchen's spinning chains, along with the bright flare of sparks that went of with each bullet hit. As she fired she slowly walked forward until she was only several yards away from the spinning chains of her opponent. Then suddenly Misty's chains burst forward from Jessica's body and flew into Spitze Madchen's wrapping and intertwining them together until they were all tangled into one big mass of metal, indistinguishable from one another. Then slowly Jessica's chains began to pull backwards dragging Spitze Madchen towards her. "What the-!?" The Spitze Madchen yelled out in surprise. She immediately began to pull back with her own chains and while it slowed down her slide towards Jessica it didn't halt it entirely. The Spitze Madchen grit her teeth as she tried to pull back. "When I get close enough I'm gonna rip you apart with my claws!" Jessica's blank eyes stared back at The Spitze Madchen. "Then stop pulling," she replied in a dead tone, not giving one hint of an expression. Misty's chains strained at the pull but still they were obviously stronger as The Spitze Madchen was slowly dragged across The Arena. Klaudia stood by and watched, curious to see exactly what was going to happen when The two were finally in melee range. On the sidelines Scarlet whistled and folded her arms behind her head. "Looks like our two team members feel like getting a little up-close-and-personal with their opponent," she told Queen teasingly.

"I'd say the one lacking mental capacity is the one who can't finish a sentence without pausing," Fleur bit back. "Can you....maybe....hurry it up....a bit?" She asked mockingly. Meanwhile, Scarlet shrugged as Queen's statement. "Well it doesn't seem like something you'd destroy, and someone as strong as you doesn't come along except once in a long while. But don't worry, I'm a bit slippery to get a hold of if you're looking to destroy me," she told Queen with a wicked grin. Scarlet looked back at the fight when Queen did. "Yeah, I guess it's all up to them now."

Inside the Weapon room, Jessica smiled as Misty praised her. For some reason the praise filled her with a large burst of validation. As if this was what she was made for...

As the Spitze Madchen came to her senses she found herself in an idyllic setting. This was definitely not The Arenas. She spotted a strange woman approaching and immediately her chains extended from her body, ready to strike. But as the woman approached Spitze Madchen felt her pain, anger and confusion draining away despite herself. She tried to take a step backwards but found herself unable to move as the motherly woman slowly embraced her. That was the last thing she remembered.

Meanwhile Jessica opened her eyes to see herself in the same field that the Madchen as in though she had clearly arrived a little later as The Spitze Madchen was already on the ground. From where she was standing the Madchen seemed to be asleep or perhaps even dead. Jessica looked down at her wounds, but quickly looked up again as she heard Misty's voice. She wanted to respond but she was suddenly overwhelmed by tiredness. She wobbled slightly as she felt the exhaustion catch up with her. Then she too faded from consciousness both in the illusionary and real world.

Back in The Arenas Jessica and The Spitze Madchen seemed to suddenly stop and stare at each other for a few moments. The crowd fell silent, confused as to what was happening. Then just as suddenly as they had stopped both Jessica and The Spitze Madchen collapsed to the ground without moving. Klaudia blinked in slight disbelief and The Arena Master paused for a few moments before declaring the match. "I declare Jessica, Misty and Klaudia the winners of this match!" He called, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers. Scarlet cheered along with them. "Well done! Well done you two!" She called, clapping her hands. After a few moments she held her hands apart and several cards formed in between them. The cards wisked outwards and formed a circle around Jessica's fallen body. There was a brief burst of resonance force and Jessica's body slowly lifted up still clutching Misty's sword. The cards slowly brought Jessica and Misty off the Arena and onto the sidelines, gently placing them on the ground at Scarlet and Queen's feet. "Well that went even better than I hoped," Scarlet told their prone forms with a grin. "You controlled the Infernal Engine perfectly! I knew you could do it!" Scarlet told them, sounding genuinely delighted at their success. Klaudia hopped off the Arena floor and went to the sidelines without comment. The match was over.
