Kidder
"REALLY? WHAT THE HELL?" He half expected to see Batman or Manbat come sweeping out of the night, there were so many pointlessly huge, angry, hungry bats, and it didn't help that he'd seen a couple, apparently unrelated glimpses of red hair that might or might not have been Lucas...
Either way, it was an apparently loosing battle. As many as he hit, there seemed to be more, biting and clawing, and it had an impact. It was a little like the other night when he'd had a few beers with Lucas (It was justified, they felt, after nearly dying.) except with all of the terror and none of the giddy silliness.
This was just... bonkers!

Xanthus attempting to fight off his new fans
He'd probably, to Lena's annoyance later, use this brief window of success to justify that he should have had a chance to fight back to begin with, screw running for cover, when there was a limited amount to be had. But even feeling lightheaded and not entirely sure of his vision, Xanthus found himself making headway in a bout of fury and fighting back against his assailants, though he wasn't entirely sure anymore if Lena were still behind him, or if they'd been separated in the chaos. Not a good time to figure it out, and not a time to worry about it, provided he didn't hear some fool jump in a car and start trying to plow their way through this mess, he needed to be more concerned with trying to keep bats at bay than in rolling out of the way.

Isaiah Zähne, expertly hiding from bats
Human screams intermixed with bat shrieks outside of his careful hiding area, The nuisances plapped about the place ceaselessly, tormenting those who tried to fight or simply could not hide appropriately, and Isaiah thanked his cleverness in protecting him from that same fate. There he remained, listening to the cacophony outside of his draped table, and he waited for the bats to subside their attack. No signs of abatement occurred, howeer, as he thought that the screams and racket grew louder.
What could possibly cause such a reaction in bats? From what he knew of the species, which admittedly wasn’t much, bats held no aggressive values beyond the usual rabies-fueled rage. Unless the entire population contracted rabies, why would they go after people? As he considered it, Isaiah conceded that these bats might be magical in nature and therefore the product of some a*****e senshi’s mischief. He had no idea if the creatures were out draining energy in the process, but even if they were a product of a derisive scheme, he decided that rabies sounded far worse. Rabies promised death for those who weren’t vaccinated against it. It wasn’t a good death, either.
While Isaiah remained, he found that he needed to flat his feet upon the table cover to keep the bats from flying underneath it. Sometimes the wings buffeted the thin material, and Isaiah was forced to catch himself before he yelped at the disturbance. There he remained, in an awkward Twister-esque position, while he waited for the cretins to die down or die off.
He really hoped for the latter, as he was growing more and more certain of his rabies theory.

Kirra Morrow - Running and hiding...
Kirra held her breath, squeezed into the narrow gap between food stalls, waiting for the monsters to pass her by. But instead the noise got louder, and abruptly the stall on her left began to shudder and shake as if it was being torn apart. The tip of a wing appeared at the entrance to her hiding place, and a moment later, an ugly bat face took its place. It had beady eyes and huge ears that should have looked cute, but its mouth was open, full of fangs.
Kirra scooted back, away from the opening, but the creature pressed in further, snapping at her sneakers. One of the stalls, more mobile than the other, started to shift.
With a shriek, Kirra stood in the confined space, turning sideways to back further away. It was tight going, but she was skinny. And being stuck was better than being eaten.

Thorn Kincaide - Running and hiding now
Thorn gathered up his canvases, stacking them as best he could into the carry cases he’d brought them in. The large framed one wouldn’t fit, so he tucked it awkwardly under his arm. If the edges got a bit bloody, at least it would still be in theme, he thought distantly.
But where to head? Everything at the fairgrounds was temporary, everything shifted. His own stall’s furniture wasn’t strong enough to protect him, but maybe if he could get to the rides he could find somewhere to hole up.
Overburdened as he was with pictures he couldn’t leave behind, he didn’t make it far. Even sticking to the shadows behind the stalls, the giant bats found him, swooping again with viciously fanged mouths. He stumbled to the ground, back against an unknown stall wall, holding the art case in front of him like a shield. Cardboard though it was, the bat couldn’t get its fangs around the blockcade, couldn’t pry it out of his hands. He kicked with exposed legs, flailing desperately until the bat decided he was more trouble than he was worth, and left for easier prey.
I should have grabbed the sheet, Thorn thought, still shaking from the ordeal. Hiding under it would have been about as helpful.

Myles
Myles was having mild success at keeping the bats at bay; he hadn't yet been bitten, but he had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach that he was going to royally mess something up soon. Myles wasn't afraid of strange, wild animals biting him, though. Sure--he'd probably have some really messed up nightmares about this eventually, but he was doing okay. Caely, though, looked like the bats had set her for a target and weren't going to let up. His booth offered him some safety, but he wasn't the only one who needed it. While still fending off the bats, he moved around, trying to reach Caely so he could help. "--You don't look so good," he said, worry clearly in his voice. He was trying to clear her a path in case she had a chance to get to the booth.
Jeremy
There were still too many bats for Jeremy’s comfort, but he had yet to be bit and liked to think he was doing a good job keeping those around him safe. Safe-ish, at least. He’d knocked a few bats so hard that he was sure he’d seen them retreat. When punches weren’t enough, he delivered a few sweet karate chops to their ugly faces.

There were still dozens of bats swooping down on the hapless innocents, but for the most part it seemed like the civilians were driving them back.
Most of them, at least.
Hovering above the thinning layer of violent mammals were a swarm of bats even larger than the ones plaguing the festival. These had a wingspan of nine feet, and teeth that looked so sharp they could sever a man's hand from his arm.
These were the bats you really didn't want to get you...thank goodness there were only a few.
You might live through this, after all.
Quote: This looks like the final showdown...The rest of the bats seem to have fallen back to make way for these elite giants. If you beat these monsters back, maybe you'll be able to save the day! Or die trying... Hiding is no longer an option--you can play dead if you want, but you've got to make your stand! Everyone will roll one ten sided dice! If you roll a 1...looks like you're out of luck. One of these winged rats has made you its target--and it's just gulped down enough blood to knock you flat on your backside. You're not dead, but you're not going to enjoy the rabies shot you can expect after this. For the next post you will also be lightheaded, feel fatigued, and have faint vertigo. If you roll a 2-7, you escape with minor injuries--and manage to do enough damage that you chase back the monster bats! If you roll an 8-10, not only are you uninjured, but you manage to deal massive damage to the bats! And there's a camera crew in the distance who is keeping a special eye on you, so if you go online you might find some cool footage of you kicking a**… Remember, there is no powering up during this event--it's simply too dangerous and you risk being seen! You will have 24 hours to respond to this prompt before the next one, so act fast! If you do not roll before the next prompt is put up, your character will have been swarmed by bats! If you miss rolling or a prompt, you can still rejoin later, but you must suffer the consequences of being bitten (Anyone who has bitten will begin to feel lightheaded and have difficulties seeing. These effects will wear off in a post, but the bat will also have drained enough blood to knock you on your backside!) If you have not yet posted in the roleplay or have missed a roll, you are still allowed to play! You must detract 1 from whatever number you roll in the current prompt; this does not affect every prompt, only the one you return in! Please do not delete posts if you have a bad roll; if you make a mistake rolling, just note that in your post and make a new post. Please also try to fill out your posts, even if just with only a sentence, after you roll!

Jessica Haze - Fought the Big a** Bats... BAB and lost
When the bats seemed to retreat Jessie breathed a sigh of relief. Her arm was screaming and burning from swinging her bag over and over again. She didn't think she could lift it again... even if she had to. Her eyes tracked the path of the bats that were beaten off only to widen as she saw the larger bats still waiting. No natural bat was that big! Just what had the negaverse cooked up? Was it even them????
The huge bats descended, one heading directly for Lucas. At Least it looked like that to Jessie. "Lucas!" The smaller brunette shoved the large man out of the way; years of training, physics, and surprise were in her favor. She might not be able to push him far but that was all she needed.
Swinging her bag one last time with all her might Jess went to smash that huge bat away from her, Lucas, and her booth... and missed. The bat careened right into her sending her tumbling to the ground, which promptly started to spin and rock under her. Maybe it was the knock to the back of the head or the bite the b*****d bat gave her but it felt like she was rocking on a small boat. When she tried to sit up she couldn't, her head felt like it was filled with helium, was this what it felt like to be high?
With a groan she collapsed back down, closing her eyes since it wasn't like she was able to focus on anything. The fall must have knocked her contacts out. Added to the disorientation and it was making her stomach flip. "I think I'll just stay here for a little bit," She wasn't entirely sure if she said that outloud.

Pat O'Ryan - Faint, Unbalanced, and Pissed Totally goes all Drunken Master on those bats
Pat was still trying to shake off the effects of the bat's bites. There was no other possibilities other than them being the cause of the disorientation, lightheadedness, and fuzzy sight. He had been in enough fights to know that he would have become more focused not less. It meant that he did miss things but never had he felt this particular way before. Doing his best to counteract the bat's affects on him, he was not looking forward to the rabies shots he knew would be forthcoming, Pat kept on fighting until it seemed like the bats retreated.
It was done... it was finished and they had won. Now all he wanted to do was sit down and let this drugged feeling pass. He was unfortunately wrong. They had just reached the boss level. Now was not the time to be resting on one's laurels.
Barely getting a chance to breath Pat was once more thrust into the fight when a larger, and hell of a lot more scary, bat came swooping down at him. It was sheer dumb luck that saved his a** as he tripped over his own feet trying to escape, his flailing arms windmilling as he tried to prevent falling. Some how, some way, he ended up knocking away the giant bat right before his a** hit the ground. The next few attacks ended up the same way. Pat scrambled to avoid them or strike back at them and more often then not were able to knock them away... just never the way he intended.

Isaiah Zähne, expertly hiding from bats
What he could only characterize as a low roar penetrated the din. The sound alone left his blood running cold, his skin clamming with trepid anticipation. Without warning, the tablecloth shot out of his grip and flopped to the ground ineffectually, leaving him exposed beneath the flimsy table. He needn’t sight his attacker dead on to know its enormous size, as the darting shadows on the ground confirmed an immense creature was to blame. With no further outlet, Isaiah found he could no longer remain under the fold-up card table.
Isaiah emerged toward the booth side, where in the wreckage he nearly slipped on one of many cans of hairspray. His attention remained on the skies while he felt around near his boot for the bottle, and hasty fingers started picking away at the damnable cellophane wrapping that ensured the product was never previously opened. While he tried to rend the packaging, one of the enormous bats came down upon him, nearly flattening him to the ground, and bit with a ferocity that he couldn’t enjoy (to his chagrin, he would note, after the fear of rabies subsided).
Heat ran down his shoulder, over his muscle and down the collarbone, but Isaiah found no time to pay it head. Beyond nursing the wound, he needed to protect himself from future dives - and finally secured the means to do so when he freed the cap from the hairspray. As the beast circled around, Isaiah readied his jet lighter before the spray. Soon it closed in, dove upon him, and he loosed a long spray of liquid flame.
Immediately the bat started backpedaling, and with a screech, the flaming menace flapped in the opposite direction. Isaiah felt a special brand of satisfaction in watching the creature retreat, and as an added bonus, some of its nearby orbiting friends realized similar danger in attacking him.
As he covered the pair of gashes on his shoulder, Isaiah started to look for a means of getting the hell out. He wasn’t in the mood to play hero today.
