Zeerah practiced his fading while the other students were talking, not really being all that interested in foreign cities and cultures. It was only when his twin talked that Zeerah started to pay attention, and he couldn't help but wince when his brother mentioned necromancy. Did Xero want to be investigated or something? Zeerah hastily spoke after his brother, hoping to bring attention to himself. "Well if Zeerah is going to Death's Snog or whatever, I'll be going with him," he said with a grin at his twin, "but if I had to choose one, I'd pick Ozryn. It's got one of our princes, and it's got the best weather around. I've heard the place is like paradise, who wouldn't want to go?" Besides, relaxed resort-goers would make for easy victims of pranks.

Essurio listened to the other students worriedly, knowing they were all speaking much better than she would. Even the boy who mentioned necromancy - how scary! - was at least confident when he spoke. She gave a worried squeak as the class look at her expectantly as he tried to think of an interesting city. "Well I... I wouldn't want to leave Asphodel, it's the most amazing city in the world," she said softly, proud of the multi-cultural demon city, "but I guess uh, it would be nice to visit Hyperes? It... it kind of got destroyed in the war but I think it would be nice to help rebuild it. I want to help." She sank back into her chair when she finished speaking, hoping she'd been ok.

Perigor turned in his seat and made a face at the Demon who'd talked smack about everyone else. "You a prince, then?" he hissed. "Or do you just wish you were one?"Ustule rolled her eyes and hid a sigh at Perigor's outburst. She'd have to have a long talk with him later about reacting to horrible little trolls that were beneath him. Now, however, was not the time.Teo couldn't hide a groan at Peri's remark. He reached across the aisle and tapped Perigor's desk to let him know that he should knock it off right now.l Duckeh l Reactions to Raven from my Litch gang xDDD Huh, what, governments? Why? Evelyn wasn't interested in governments, but this was the assignment, and it was social studies, so... "The government I'd like to talk about," she said, ignoring the outburst from her classmates, "is the Naga government. I picked the Nagas because my mother is a Naga--or rather, she's part Naga. Nagas are ruled by the Brood Mother, who is the mother of their entire race. Mothers for Nagas aren't female progenitors" --and that was a word Evey was proud to know, because Mother had taught it to her!-- "they're the ultimate ancestor of a family. It's a great honor to be a mother for a Naga, and being the Brood Mother is a very important position. They're expected to have pure-blooded children so that their lineage isn't, um, mixed." Evey hesitated. That was something she didn't like--all of her siblings were hybrids, and Mother theirself was half-Bakeneko. Mother was still sort of sensitive about it due to the way their own family had treated them as a child. "They're supposed to be descendants of the oldest lineage of Nagas, see. The Brood Mother's official mate is supposed to be a very high-ranking position, too, they grant audiences in the Brood Mother's place except in the direst of circumstances, which makes the picking of the mate all the more important to Nagas." Ew, governments. Mary thought about the options and immediately dismissed every ancestor who had given rise to her own self. Instead, she decided to go with something of her parents' races. "I picked Baphomets, because why not." She didn't state it as a question, just a statement. Why not. Like it was punctuation, because hey. Why not. "Baphomets are traditionally divided into three factions--Alcyone, Moonspear, and Bramblewood--each with their own Rex. Below the Rexes are the Elders, who are basically regional rulers. They take care of all the mundane every day stuff. Before the war, Rexes were the most powerful members of society, but these days, ever since the war, Rexes have lost a little of their power. These days the top dogs are the Elders, because the rexes all defer to them. It makes sense, though, because Elders probably know their regions better." She shrugged. "The only issue is that since Alcyone was destroyed, there have only been two Rexes, which make things a little tense."Melisara cringed at the butchering of the Baphomet government, but didn't comment. It just wouldn't do...

Liath listened to the teacher but he knew exactly what he would be talking about. "My race is really awesome, we don't have a set leader so to speak. Goblins have a secret council so secret that we don't even know who's really on it, like we can see that someone is pulling the strings but we don't get to know who. These goblins though get to deem what is right and wrong for us. Like you could steal something and get in trouble with the academy because they have rules here but being a Goblin I would also have to worry about the thoughts of the secret council. They might shun me and that makes everyone work harder to not cross their good graces. They could even banish someone; they don't do that often though." He looked around the room at everyone he always thought the secret counsel was so cool and would be awesome to get to be on.

Adam stole a quick glance around the room, "The race's government I chose was Nixie... since my caretaker was one." He beamed, not caring one way or another how people took that information before he continued, "Each underwater city [how neat is that?!], or Colony, has its own Elder, and those Elders make up an Elder Council. Towns that are smaller are usually aligned with a larger city until they have enough goods and services to take care of their own, and then they more or less sink them in a magic bubble!" He went over the entire thing in his head and, satisfied, flashed a winning smile, "That's what I have."

"I picked the town of Ozryn. I chose this town because it is a geist town, I'm part Geist, my mother is full Geist, and we've actually been there for a visit. The town is very fun, filled with all kinds of tourist-y sights and vendors selling novelties. There's also spas and hot springs that are super fun to splash around in, and the weather is nice and temperate all the time." Ana said, smiling as she remembered the vacation she'd gotten when the band got a gig across the continent. "I would love to go back during a break in school or something."

I think we should talk about cities today... or... places that people live... ...So... why don't we look at the maps... in our textbooks... and read about some of the cities.... and we can each pick one... and talk about it, hm...?" Karyayas looked over the map trying to find a city to catch her interest, although she was always intrigued with the city of Shellmount. The thought of walking along the water line was something she wished to do, the sea. She had only seen in in books or on maps but to her it looked beautiful. She knew this city was known for its seafood and salt, something she read was the air smelled like fresh salt and she wished to be able to smell and feel it on her skin. Shyly she rose her hand and said "I pick the city of Shellmount." "I want to go and see the sea, feel the wind and smell the fresh salty air and eat the seafood, which I don't exactly know what this is but I want to eat it anyway" she said with a shy little giggle. "All I know is the sea is something I like, I want to know more about it. I know there are animals and plants living in it and I am curious as to what they are, how they look and feel and what they eat." "If I am able to bring back something to remember my time there it would be something small from the sea, maybe a shell or rock" with that she sat back in her seat and waited to hear the next student speak about what city they chose.

Okay, we're going to cover different governmental structures today... And you'll need to prepare a small presentation for us on one of your choosing, so... Please pay attention." Tethys nodded at the class, and then started up his lesson, making sure to point out where in the textbook they'd find specific information. Cuileann smiled she knew she would do a presentation on her own race, she had been doing some research into her people and was fascinated by how diverse and complex it was. Taking her notes she had prepared she waited patiently for her turn to speak, then after Adam had spoken it was her turn. She got up and walked to the front of the class. "I chose to speak about the structure of the Dryad Government" she said slowly. "I did alot of research into my race and I am most impressed and intrigued about how my people govern themselves". She looked about to make sure the class and her teacher was paying attention to her before she continued. "From the beginning of time, my people have been scattered amongst the land forming what came to be known as tribes, each one of these had their own system of a government which seemed to work well due to the amount of distance between them but in the time of today they share a government." "It seems that it is up to each community to elect one representitive for that said community who serves on the Regional Council which the Regional Council elects one Regional Representative out of all the regions who has the distinct honor of serving on the Dryad Council". "I wish to end my presentation with this, if anyone is interested in hearing more I would be happy to discuss this more" with that she nodded and returned to her seat.

Marie poured over the large atlas, reading descriptions of each of the cities and their surrounding areas. She had to write about one of the places she found interesting, but the problem was, there were so many to choose from! She could go with mountains or valleys or deserts or coasts. There were cities and towns and villages that were all important in their own respects. After some more page flipping and a bit more time worrying her lip, she finally chose a place to write about. 'Grixery Cove was one of the first ports established, which brought in a lot of trade and with it a lot of money. Little villages popped up around the area a long time ago, but now Grixery Cove is a super busy area with lots of nightmare and daydreams visiting it every day. I want to visit Grixery Cove because one of my friends got beautiful pearl earrings from a shop down there.'

Rowan was having a tough time concentrating on the assignment. He decided to doodle in the margins of his history book instead of choosing a city to write about, filling the blank corners with squiggles and stars. Where would he visit? He liked the academy just fine. His parents were from Above, so he might like to visit there sometime in his life. He liked quiet places that were sunny but not too sunny. Was there a place like that in Below? He hadn't really explored much on his own (or really at all). He mostly ran around the campus in the mornings. Suddenly, inspiration struck him and he grabbed a piece of paper and began to write. 'I would choose to go to Satray City, because they have the most shaded pedestrian paths in any city around. I want to visit so I can run someplace new. I like the campus just fine, but I think I'd also like to run in the city.'

Elise was intrigued looking at all of the different forms of government practiced by the different races. She narrowed her research down to the races from Above, which she personally didn't know a much about, having lived Below all her life. Doing some more research, she decided to focus on Elf government. She finished her research, wrote her paper, and turned it in with a decent level of satisfaction. It read: 'For elves, their government is mainly capitalistic. Most of the citizens are high-class, and being poor would make one be considered as a second class citizen. There is a monarchy, but the royal family are nothing more than puppets that the oligarchy acts through to maintain the order and status they enjoy.'

- - - - - - - "No, that one! We're doing that one!" Mio adamantly demanded as she chose the city for herself and Muro to base their assignment on. "Summerforge!" She exclaimed, indicating to Muro that he should be the one doing the writing. "It's ruins! It's nothing now! But it's ancestral! and.." She blinked. "What's ancestral?" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A deep and heavy sigh escaped the young hybrid, as if he'd been holding in years upon years worth of sighing. So dramatic that one. "It means...um...ancient." He offered before getting back to writing. "It's because we're part demon, right?" An agreement from Mio, and he went back to writing.

- - - - - - - Summerforge, huh? Not one to really like much to do with history yet, Kissy simply sat next to her older siblings, listening to them talk about the city. Of course,s he also wasn't one to directly copy them, especially without asking! Surely her mother would know something about these...ruins, were they? She'd have to ask her at some point. Or maybe even Kei? Someone would have to know in their large family, right? Still...not much to write about ruins, is there? She'd still try. And try super hard.
