Brian was a little surprised when the younger boy said he wanted it to be just him and Rew for a bit, but he could understand the boy's reasoning. When the Professor returned with their Pokedexes, Brian smiled and took the small package. He waited until Silas had left before answering Birch's question about his parents sending a Pokemon with him."Actually, there is one waiting for me at home," he said. "A few weeks ago, a shiny Ralts wandered into the daycare, and she's kind of taken a liking to me, so I decided to take her with me when I started my journey." When asked if he had an idea what starter he wanted, he nodded. "I'll take the Torchic," he said.

A grin lit up the professor's face as Silas thanked him and left. It stayed happily as Brian mentioned the pokemon he was going to be fetching soon. "Ah, a shiny Ralts you say? Amazing! The odds of a shiny are so mysterious... Wonderful!" He chuckled tapping his chin. Though he quickly received an answer. The bird hopped out from where it was hiding and clucked as it strutted about. It was excited to start it's journey! "Oh, and I'll also be giving you potions and pokeballs as well! The pokedex is an added bonus. And don't forget to give your parents my greetings as you return to get that Ralts."
Brian gave a smile and a nod when Birch echoed his words about the shiny Ralts. "Aye, we were quite surprised when she showed up out of the blue," he said. "I'll have to bring her to meet ye sometime." When he mentioned starting his journey with the Torchic, he had to smile when he saw the little Fire-type strutting about clucking happily. It made sense that the starter would be excited about getting paired up with a trainer.
He accepted the potions and Pokeballs from the Professor with a nod of thanks, placing Torchic's ball on his belt and most of the rest in his pack, keeping only a few out so that he could capture new Pokemon as he traveled. "Thanks, Professor," he said, smiling. "I'll let them know to send a couple of eggs yer way when they come in." Having said this, he gave a final smile and a wave, then turned and walked out the door, Torchic following him with a bounce in her step.

Distantly, Myth knew he shouldn’t be afraid. This was Littleroot after all, not some big city with prying eyes and whispered words. There was nothing to be afraid of. He had hidden long enough, and surely the dust had settled enough by now for him to be able to forge a new path. Something different than the one chosen before, even if it beckoned to him still.
So, Myth stepped inside the Pokemon Lab, his movements feigning confidence despite the unsure look in his eyes. “Hello?” He called, voice carrying through the white-tiled room, “My name is Myth. I— I know I’m older than most of the people that come through here, but I’m looking to start my journey. I was told here was a good point to start.”
Professor Birch smirked as he pulled his lunch out of it's place. His research had hit a stand still. But that was fine with him. He could enjoy a couple days of peace and quiet yeah? A big bite out of his sandwich and a swig of his drink, the pokemon came running into the room. Calm and peaceful right? Not. These latest starter pokemon were incredibly boisterous. He loved it. The difference between the pokemon even in the same specie... It was fantastic! The door opened and he turned. A voice carried around the large inner room, and Professor Birch begrudgingly set his sandwich down. It would be gone in no time he was sure.
BUT there was a potential in his main room and that was always better than his sandwich any day. Dusting off his hands, the pokemon professor headed down to meet the arrival. "You have indeed come to the right place! No one is too old in my opinion. I would start my own journey, but i have too much research to do!" He said as he stepped into view. He grinned largely at the young man in front of him. "Professor Birch at your disposal, Myth. Now then. Any ideas on a potential partner?" At the mention of partner, the three sandwich stealers came around the corner. Curiosity killed the cat... right?

The remaining tension left in Myth’s shoulders quickly disappeared when Birch offered his reassurances. “That’s a relief,” He admitted, “I’ve been a little worried about being late to the party. I’m no spring Pidgey, after all. It’s nice to see I’m wrong about something good, for once.”
A potential partner, right. Myth grimaced and placed a hand under his chin in thought. “I’ve thought about it, but I’m on the fence. I’ve worked with water-types once before, but … Mmh, I thought a fresh start with something else might be a nice change of pace.” Just as Myth said that, he caught sight of the three thieves from behind the corner. A green lizard-like pokemon, a Mudkip, and some kind of bird with the most vibrant feathers he’d ever seen.
The Mudkip was a safe bet, sure. Myth knew most water pokemon like the back of his hand, but something about the way the little chick held the scraps of a sandwich crust in its mouth was too cute to resist.
“… The bird— It— What’s the name of the fluffy one behind you?” Blurted Myth, his eyes almost transfixed on the little creature.
"You are only late if you never arrive!" The professor chuckled. He watched closely as he started talking about what he was familiar with. But instead, found himself dazzled by the little chick. Seems Torchics were the rage right now. And he could see why. They were cute and kinda fluffy!
"That, my dear boy, is a Torchic. The fire chick pokemon. I'm sure you know a little about Mudkip, and that one is Treecko. But~" He stopped only long enough to see the tiny bird finish munching on its prize before checking the younger boy out. "I think we may have a winner." He chuckled. He produced some pokeballs, a few potions and a pokedex from the table near them.
The Torchic in question wandered a little closer to Myth, who promptly knelt down to meet it at eye level. Those brilliant feathers were so bright— Between than and the heat coming off of the bird, there was no doubt in his mind that this pokemon was a fire type. Myth had never exactly trained one before, so this would be a first. Hesitantly, he held out a hand to the Torchic.
“I think so, too. Would you mind coming along with me, little one?” He asked, voice meek in preparation for rejection. In response, the Torchic gently bumped its head along his hand, which pulled a rumbled laugh out of Myth as he stood back up.
“That sounds like a yes to me, I think,” Said Myth, pausing for a moment before glancing back at Birch, “Thank you for all your help today. I’d hate to take up too much more of your time, as I’m sure you’re a very busy man. Do you have any advice for me before I go? If not, I’ll get out of your hair.”

A laid back grin rested easily on Remmy's features as he walked through the door of the lab, a pokeball already in hand. He rotated between rolling it in his hand and absently tossing it up to catch, but as he approached the back of the lab, he swiftly pocketed it so both hands rested heavily in his pockets. Everything about his posture was easy going, nonchalant, and confident. Almost overly so, like anything one said was unlikely to fluster or faze him. "Hey boss," he called out, his voice carrying a resonance and a cajun lilt, "Any way I could get certified for this gym challenge business?" If he hadn't been having so much fun starting fights of another sort all his life, he would've already dived well into the gym scene. But he'd held off. Now that he found himself strolling around, without as much to do, though.... It seemed as good a direction to go in as any. Just a shame that when he was arriving, he heard about an event going on. That sounded fun. He'd have to head there once he got this all sorted.

The way Remmy's lips turned up as he was given his items and a brief adieu was enough to make most people wary. He looked like he was up to no good, like he had plans that were perhaps a bit too big, and that impression wasn't wrong. At least, not on the first part. Plans, though? That wasn't really his style. Maybe a quick outline, a rough sketch, but it was mostly all improve, baby. He continued to roll his pokeball in his hand as he walked back out, perusing through his pokedex before tossing it and letting it release the pokemon inside as he stepped onto the grass. "Medi!" The freed pokemon looked up as Remmy caught the ball in one hand, the other pocketing his acquired device and then emerging with a stick of gum.
"Ready for some fun, Medicham?" he asked, tossing the chew into his mouth and crumpling the wrapper. He tossed it over his shoulder as he walked and his pokemon caught it before following. He had the impression Remmy had something specific in mind.
