'Well Damn.' Laxus thought to himself as Kensei snapped his fingers and lit a tiny fire on his hand. Though it wasn't very coordinated, he did manage to let go of his kunai and begin manipulating it a little bit, just to maintain contact with his hand without him having to hold onto it. It wasn't very manipulation intensive, so he was at least capable of this.
Then, Kensei decided to konck Laxus over, which really didn't bother him that much, since it was pretty much a given that this was going to happen. Luckily for Laxus, Kensei then decided to give a nice little heel drop onto his chest. Laxus brought both hands to his chest, and lifted the kunai blade to point directly at Kensei's leg. While Kensei was much faster than Laxus, and stronger, he'd be hard pressed to move his leg when it was closing in so quickly. And even if he did manage to move it, it wouldn't be any more than Laxus could move the kunai to cut him. Laxus was going to have a cracked sternum, that was a given, he had a metal ring sitting on it, and Kensei was definitely strong enough to do that much. However, Kensei would NOT be running away from this.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ →Kensei watched as the villagers were asked or better yet commanded to leave the area. That's two down, just one more to go. Kensei thought as he looked towards Sora's direction. "Right, I'll come back and finish you two off later." Kensei stated as he pushed his foot down on Laxus' chest before removing it. Before he even got a chance to walk away he felt some latch onto his back. Even if he could react the results were not in Kensei's favor. Mainly because the was a razor wire around his neck. Kensei listened to the genin's threats carefully. He seemed almost serious, but he it also looked like he didn't have a back up plan. All of this was followed by Sora shouting about Kensei's hawk summon. "Listen kid...I'm not sure what you were planning when you jumped on my back, but all the results would be bad for you. You see that hawk up there? All I have to do is make a command and it'll be on you faster than you can pull that wire." Kensei moved a little bit to try and break from shikaku's grip but the wire poked his neck. "What if I'm another clone? You saw what happened last time. You take me out, then you're coming with me. Plus I have explosive tags. So that plus me being a clone could take out the entire center." he continued. He noticed He was shortly being surrounded by Sora and her clone. I guess this is it he thought as he started to kneel down to surrender. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Shikaku silently rejoiced as Kensei stopped moving. His tactic had worked, and neither of them were dead! Success! And then, Kensei started to talk, mentioning first his hawk, a creature Shikaku had noticed, but not truly taken into consideration as he had never planned to directly involve himself in the conflict, and then the possibility of himself being a clone like the one in the forest. Neither were pleasant options, but, there was one glaring inconsistency in them. Why hadn't he just done them? While he was indeed scared, deep down, that Kensei wasn't bluffing, he realized on a tactical level that he needed another act now, and assumed an air of confidence, eyebrows furrowed in determination as he kept himself tightly attached to the man's back.
"I don't need to pull it. If either of us move too much, you running, or me being forcibly removed, you'll die." he answered the first problem, that of the hawk. He would much prefer not being attacked by a large bird of prey, but to make this work he had to call the bluff, and, hopefully, Kensei would accept his own. And, for that matter, wasn't a clone after all, as that threw all bets out the window. "And if you're a clone, why haven't you dispersed? Why try to talk your way out?" his brows furrowed deeper as he spoke, a puzzle he'd been working on since the start of the mission coming along with those thoughts, and a question to go with them.
"Why don't you just kill me?" he asked, true confusion bleeding into his words of challenge. The man was supposed to be trying to escape, but had gone on the offensive several time. Was supposed to be a murderer, but had avoided causing any major damage or panic, and even now, was trying to intimidate rather than use any of his described methods of killing him. Why? A panic could hide his movements, damage or killing could dissuade pursuit, so why was this man, who had supposedly killed an ally and run, not using those tactics? He wasn't above using them, so, why? It made no sense.
Everything Shikaku said and thought was something Sora could agree with, something that Sora thought herself. In addition to all that, she had even more reason to doubt Kensei. The same thing that had plagued with her hesitation in the beginning, still did to some extent even now despite all of her mental refusals of such thoughts. The thoughts causing her initial hesitation fed the thoughts that had been sparked by Shikaku's question, a question that was proof that she wasn't making excuses for herself. Kensei never was the kind to abandon his village and hurt it. Even when Aoi, a friend dear to both, left, he didn't leave with her. Therefore, why now?
Even then, though, neither Sora nor her clone faltered as they continued to steadily surround Kensei, each step firmly placed to prevent any further errors. The real Sora stopped near Laxus just in case Kensei had some devious plans to use the injured teammate while the fake moved in the other direction and stopped once there was equal distance between itself and Kensei, Sora, and Shikaku. Both fake and real held a kunai, the fake having received it shortly after being created.
The cold metal beneath her fingers reminded Sora of the reality when she stopped in her position. She did not have the time to indulge in the what-ifs of Kensei's possible innocence. She couldn't risk the safety of her teammates for that. Already, Laxus was in critical condition and Shikaku was risking his life to hold back what could very well be suicidal clone. Sora couldn't help a grimace from rising to her face. After all, there was nothing she could smile about in this situation. In fact, it left an inexplicable sour taste in her mouth, and there was that strange paradox that Sora had been ignoring for the entirety of this mission. A paradox that she chose to ignore once more because she still had no way to prove what she hoped.
Kensei was captured now, but the mission was still far from over. Sora looked over at her clone, caught its attention, and signaled it to go forwards to Kensei, which it did. She further specified, "Hug his arm tightly." The last words were hard to get out, but the test needed to be done. Sora remained near Laxus to protect him. She did not like being this unfair to Shikaku--the unfairness being that he would be the only one in real danger if this Kensei turned out to be another clone--but she couldn't risk getting the entire team to fall into a trap and become incapacitated, Once the clone reached Kensei, it would hug his arm tightly as ordered, and Sora would be able to tell Shikaku, "You can let go now, but stay on guard. If he tries to escape, the clone will need to be destroyed, and that'll paralyze him for a short bit," as she flipped her kunai into the ready position, "Feel free to add extra restraints, but if they need you to stay close then wait a bit. We need to check whether or not this really is a clone." She was going to check by hitting Kensei's shoulder with the dagger-like projectile once Shikaku let her.
As Kensei's foot hit Laxus' chest, he let out all of the air as Kensei knocked it clean out of him. A gurgling noise and a crackle audible only to Laxus. His eyes bulged and his head lifted off the ground. It wasn't a great image to see, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. His ribs popped a bit, but they didn't feel broken. Just really... really... really bruised. And then, Kensei thought to push down harder, causing Laxus to let out a kind of gurgling squeak.
Laxus' eyes closed a bit, and he just laid there for a couple seconds, until he could tell Sora was next to him. "If it matters, he felt solid enough when he decided to jolly stomp me." He said. Immediately he coughed hard, a bit of vomit coming up. Laxus gripped his chest painfully and turned his head away from Sora's feet, and toward Kensei's and spat the vomit out. He didn't spit it on Kensei's feet, but it was close enough if Kensei really moved any in that direction it would get on his shoes. Afterward, Laxus rolled toward Sora, hitting his chest and immediately regretting it. He went onto his back once more, placing a hand over his chest again. He would not be doing that again.
Bringing his hands together, he made a couple of hand signs. "Earth Clone." Laxus said, a clone rising up next to Kensei and reaching to grab his other arm. "The clone is slow, but it'll take more than his clone exploding to take him out..." Laxus said smiling. "Not to mention Kensei isn't going to be running anywhere with a rock my size holding onto him." He said, attempting to stand up. If he was able to, like if Kensei didn't kick him in the chest again, He'd stand next to Sora, prepared to jump in front of her to take another beating rather than Sora getting the brunt of it. for the first time Laxus saw how Shikaku had Kensei held. It didn't look very comfortable for either of them.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ →Kensei allowed himself to be grabbed by Sora's clone shortly after he surrendered. After hearing Sora's command for Shikaku to get off of him, Kensei sighed with relief after the thought the wire being removed from his neck. I could attack after he gets off....but getting electrocuted is the last thing I want to happen to me. He began to stand up slowly to prepare for an attack. "Don't worry I'm not goin to do anything." The feeling of relief was soon followed by disgust after seeing Laxus vomit. He let a satisfied grin appear on his face after seeing all of these terrible events happen to Laxus. Once again this feeling was replaced by disgust with a hint of shock after Laxus spat towards Kensei. The Chūnin just stood there with a blank expression while staring at his boot and the piece of spit that was inches away from it. He continued to stare even as Laxus' clone came up to grab his other arm. "Y-you...just....you just did that..." Kensei continued to speak. "What if I was wearing sandals...and that touched me?" Kensei didn't know what to think. His mind was just filling up with rage, confusion, and disgust. If he wasn't being held, the punishment for Laxus would be worse. Sure Kensei could break out and continue beating Laxus, but he'll just wait for his time for payback. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

At the order to get off of Kensei, Shikaku didn't immediately move to do so, instead taking to heart the second, optional part of the command. Add extra restraints. He didn't think this was a clone in the first place. Using clones in the market would have, hopefully, stood out enough for them to notice the others around. But more significantly, now that his mind had time to slow down, Kensei had cast a genjutsu on him. Clones that could cast jutsu were rare, and while it was possible, he had always been under the impression those clones were both expensive, and would usually disperse after casting their jutsu. No, he was sure this was the real thing.
Tightening his legs around Kensei's waist to hold himself in place, he pulled an extra couple inches of wire around the man's neck and carefully tied it into a slip knot. The process was a bit slower than he liked, but his hands felt numb from his focus being elsewhere and he wasn't ready to sacrifice his hearing while he still couldn't see. As soon as he had the knot how he liked it, he released the catch on his glove so the wire could reel freely, and kicked off, first jumping and then quickly backing away until he was sure he was outside of the range of an explosive. He held the hand with the wire out straight towards the man, with his other hand clasped around the wrist, both giving himself a stronger grounding, and allowing him quick access to the switch that could end Kensei's life should he make any move. This was a dangerous moment, should the man be quick enough to cut the line before he could tighten it, but he was following orders, and wouldn't likely have lasted much longer on the man's back anyways.
Sora sorely wanted time to take a deep breath and reconsider. She wanted the time to try and think of a less painful way of testing. She wanted a few seconds to apologize. However, she couldn't spare it because she wouldn't underestimate Kensei. Gritting her teeth, Sora aimed and flung her kunai the moment Shikaku was a safe distance from the captured man. Despite not having time for so many other things, she did have enough time to reconsider her decision on where to hit Kensei, changing it from the shoulder to the crotch.
The kunai was thrown, but the shaking in Sora's hand couldn't be stopped, neither could a flinch in her expression. Rather than hitting the intended target, the projectile hit slightly off-target, embedding itself into Kensei's hip slightly above and to the side of the crotch as long as he didn't move. If it was a clone, the blow would surely have blown it up. If it was the real Kensei, he probably wouldn't be able to move easily at all.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ →Kensei felt the wire being tied around his neck. This caused him to snap out of his trance and figure out an escape plan. So far there weren't any. With his arms restrained he couldn't do anything about the wire. Even he could do anything with the wire he'd have to worry about Sora's clone. "Come on kid, I said I wasn't going to run. Can't you just take the wire off or something." Kensei turned his head a bit to look back at Shikaku to try and get his attention, but he noticed the genin had his eyes closed. "Oh yeah....the genjutsu...look kid if this is payback for the genjutsu, I'm not really sorry. In fact it's still hilarious to me on how bad you are on planning things out." Kensei taunted. He was going to continue until he felt a sharp pain around his hip/crotch. His eyes began to water up as he tried to hold in his urge to yell. "Ow" he said in a low yet painful tone. "Why did I agree to this?" He whispered to himself while trying to hide his tears. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

SHikaku rolled his eyes, though one could only tell if they were looking closely enough to see his eyelids move with them, at Kensei's "Banter". First he tried to convince him to remove the wire, which wasn't going to happen, then finally realized he was still under his genjutsu and started to act almost sorry. Of course that was immediately ruined by his attempt to use it as a taunt, claiming Shikaku was bad at planning things. "My plan caught you." he muttered under his breath as his eyes completed their previously mentioned roll. The taunt really was rather pathetic, coming from someone caught in the "Bad plan".
A moment later, he heard a light fleshy thud, and Kensei began almost whimpering. If not for the seriousness of the situation, he might have chuckled at that. And if he had, he might have missed the next words to slip through the older man's mouth. Why did he agree to this? Agree to what? He hadn't agreed to being stabbed, or whatever had just happened. He certainly hadn't agreed to being caught, even if he had surrendered rather easily. Was he referring to the chase? That couldn't be right either, that would require him to have been asked to murder someone and run away. Had he been hired as an assassin? But to kill a fellow ninja of Kumo, he'd have had to have been hired by a foreign interest, or a rogue element in the village. Either one would be bad, since it meant someone was targeting kumo nin, and using other kumo nin to kill them, which meant anyone in the village could be either the next killer, or the next target! His head twitched towards Laxus' last known location at that thought. He had a hard time believing that one wouldn't agree to such an act, though he had to admit that was probably just his paranoia cropping up again. The boy hadn't actually done anything to be mistrusted other than be stupid, had he? Had he? ...
Turning his mind violently back to the task at hand rather than dealing with what ifs and analyzations that didn't matter right now, he fixed his attention on Kensei. If he was hired to kill someone, then they needed to find his employer. But then, if Shikaku was jumping to conclusions, they also needed to confirm what exactly he was talking about, so... "What did you agree to?" he asked, staring at Kensei through his own eyelids, rather ineffectually, as he couldn't quite see through them in the first place.
It's taking awhile to settle what we're gonna do, so I figure we should at least finish up here. That way we all at least have the mission points and gold from this, and Kagetsu might have her promotion as well. All three excellent things to have starting out after any reboot, since you'll be able to keep them all. Might also get to keep some portion of the mission, with details altered to fit. I'll be keeping Shikaku I expect, and so far he's run into very little I can't carry over with slight edits to his timeline. If we all keep our characters, we could keep the entire mission, including our characters knowing each other, just shift a few details around to make it all fit the new setting.

Laxus knelt down slowly, raising one fist to his mouth and biting down on one of his knuckles while chuckling quietly. He was trying so hard not to just laugh about what had just happened, since Kensei had just narrowly missed becoming a eunuch, so it was more funny than horrifying. The best part of it was that it was Sora who had done it. It wasn't only funny in the fact that Kensei had a karmic kick back, something Laxus expected Kensei to believe in, but that Sora just defied almost everything Laxus had come to expect about her in a single, thankfully, miss aimed throw. Laxus would have felt bad, even for Kensei to be the target of such a blow. Sure it would have been misinterpreted as divine retribution, but Laxus would have felt bad about it later. Laxus heard Shikaku ask a question, but his silent chuckles made it so he couldn't quite make it out.
Now that Kensei had been both checked and handicapped, Sora felt safe enough to get moving. Ignoring the stares of the crowd and pushing aside all questionable mutterings made by Kensei, Sora gave the order, "Let's take him to the Raikage's office. You can do that, right, Shikaku?". Her voice sounded tired. After everything that happened she needed both a mental and physical rest. Such a happy-go-lucky girl like Sora was not used to the responsibilities and burdens of hunting down a friend, much less leading the group in such a situation.
The Raiton clone, hearing the command, stood at attention, ready to help Shikaku lead Kensei away.
Shikaku was pulled from his thoughts and attempted interrogation by Sora speaking to him. She was right, he realized, his mind immediately throwing in piles of context that may or may not have existed at all, much less influenced the direction of Sora's intent. It was better to get Kensei in the hands of the authorities, who could properly interrogate him and get all the information themselves, plus any that they themselves would have missed anyways.
Mind happily settled on the idea that Sora wanted to turn in the criminal for interrogation, Shikaku shook his head, smiling a lot more cheerfully in the girl's last known direction than the situation called for. "Nope!" he chirped, answering the question quite honestly. Toning the cheerfulness down a notch, he offered a more serious explanation. "He hit me with a genjutsu, so I can't see. I doubt I could walk without bumping into something or falling over." he gestured towards his sealed eyes to accentuate the claim.
Having never actually practiced moving blind, he was quite happy, if not a bit surprised that his tactic of jumping on Kensei had actually worked, rather than landing him flat on his face next to the man. He felt he could probably navigate on his own well enough, at least to avoid bumping people, but trying to find a destination, with a rogue nin on a wire leash, without the ability to tell where he actually was or judge distance to his prisoner? He was more likely to end up tripping over something and accidentally slit the man's throat! "And killing him." the boy added, deciding to share that last thought.
Having had his laugh, Laxus stood, breathing harder than before, clutching his chest in pain. He'd forgotten he'd gotten the crap kicked, or stomped rather, out of him by Kensei all too recently. He slowed his breathing and took short shallow breaths until he'd regained composure, wiping some mirthful tears from his eyes, though some of them were likely from the pain of his cracked sternum rubbing against itself. "If you aren't petrified of it, you could always catch a ride on my stone clone. It's completely harmless unless it falls on you, and it can't move for crap either. It's honestly slower than most of the children in the village. If you're really that scared of it, you could always tie it's arms behind it's back and ride on it's shoulders." Laxus said still wiping away tears with one hand and clutching his chest with the other. It wasan odd feeling, having a slightly cracked sternum. It felt like he was grating his teeth, but only in his chest. It even sounded kinda like he was grating his teeth every time he took a breath.
Sora looked at the only options the group had in terms of a guide for Shikaku: herself, Laxus, and Laxus's clone. Shikaku would probably have a smaller chance of tripping if he walked by himself than if he tried walking with Sora. Laxus was coughing, hacking, and generally looked like he was in too much pain to try and lead anyone. On that note, those very reasons were also what made it a very bad idea to try transferring control of the strings from Shikaku to someone else if such a thing was even possible in the first place.
That left his clone, but the clone had the same problems as Laxus. At that moment, Sora decided to fursue another line of thought, and quickly arrived at the alternate solution of Kai. "Shikaku, I'm going to try and cancel the genjutsu you're under, and to that, I'll need to touch you," the blonde warned as she approached her squad mate. She could tell the Shikaku was under some kind of genjutsu that disrupted his vision, and she hoped that would be enough information. She cast a hand sign to concentrate her chakra before placing a hand on top of his head and surging the chakra as she had practiced. First, she stopped Shikaku's chakra flow, before restarting it with a burst of her own chakra. After she'd done that, she could only hope that Kensei wasn't better at genjutsu than she was.
