((Yeah tha's fine lol. Just don't keep me waiting long))
"Hm, pulled into this? I don't believe so. I am Strider's loyal apprentice and friend. I owe him my very existence. I was a ghost when he found me. I do what I can, when I can, and that's all there is to it. I don't feel forced into it because if it's for my friends I'd fight the strongest force in the universe. I feel only obligation when it comes to those I feel need me." Jake rang a small bell. "Come and get it troops. Last hot meal of the night!"

((I won't.))
Elistral and Rore had stopped among the gathered throng to listen to Demios's sudden speech from one of the highest points in Salim. As they cheered, the woman in Rore's arms stirred a little, muttering in her sleep about the noise. Elistral couldn't help the returning grim expression she'd recently had on her face. But Rore understood and smiled anyway, moving away to find a family friend who he knew could take care of his small family while he stayed to fight.
"Ah, well, I didn't expect you to get my meaning anyway." Fenrir mumbled, bringing the loaf up to his mouth for another bite. "I guess doubtful thoughts don't occur to anyone here nowadays."
'So how much longer?' "I don't know." Gorash whispered, replying to the voice in his head aloud as his head began to nod. It wasn't that he hadn't slept in a while, in fact, he'd slept the night before. The reason for his tiredness, he thought, was the marching of the massive army. It had been years since he'd marched alongside others, but he still remembered the sleepiness that he'd fought back when he was a beginning knight. The thousands upon thousands of pounding feet reminded him of rain. 'If you fall asleep,' he heard the enticing words in his mind clearly, 'Then I'll take over.' Gorash shook his head from side to side, forcing back the yawn in his throat. And that was one thing that kept him awake.

Demios spotted Elistral and Rore. "Elistral. I have disturbing news. I'm afraid it's not what your going to want to hear." Demios had come out of the tower and walked over to them.
"No I got your meaning. It's just there isn't any time now for doubts. If I were to leave now and forget about all of these people and my friends then I wouldn't be myself. I helped start this and I'm going to finish it. I at least owe that much. Though fear is ever present I push it away. It shall be harder to kill me then most." Jake had begun to tip in his ladle and put hot soup into bowls. "Besides. You know you'd miss me."
Reaper was wide awake with anticipation. Soon he would be at the gates of Salim. It had been years since the last time he'd been and he wanted to...visit the old place. Not long now...the final march would begin. The dark cloud his shadow dragons were producing was magnificent. His dark elves and demons could walk freely now. The end of all things was coming to a close.

Elistral glanced over at the ex-knight who'd come back to stand next to her, wondering what he was thinking of Demios's latest news.
Rore had already said good bye to Maria, telling her to inform her mother of what was happening. He hadn't the heart to wake Ellen up from her peaceful sleep. Rubbing at his wet eyes, he shrugged in response to Elistral's look.
"It cannot be as bad as what awaits us later." She said with a slight frown to the dragon. "Go ahead."
When the dragon Crow was resting on finally took notice of him, he'd already slipped off it's back and was winging his way over to where he'd last seen Marie at. Hovering near her, he waited for the woman to caught sight of him before he spoke. "What's going on?"
"Good answer." The rest of the bread loaf disappeared, and Fenrir brushed the crumbs off his hands. "Of course. You and your oddness would be definitely be missing in this battle if you went off somewhere else. Especially your Strider-influenced speech."

((There I edited it XP))
"Well it appears that we are on our own for the beginning of this." Demios was whispering as not to dishearten the others around him. "Strider shall not return in time. We shall have to defend ourselves until he gets here. Fate came to me and told me this. I do not trust Fate but I have never known it to lie." With that Demios nodded and walked off with a look of grim duty in his eyes.
Jake laughed. "Well what do you expect? I am his apprentice. I have been listening to him talk almost non-stop. He's influenced me a lot I guess. Just work or I'll kick you out already." Jake threw a ladle at him.
"Buzz off feather face. Shouldn't you be with your part of the army?" Marie was being serious. No time for idle chit-chat. "Now go before I freeze your wings." The air had already begun to grow icy around her.

"No need to be stingy." Crow muttered, flapping his wings harder to keep aloft as he flew away from the air around Marie. His bird friend squawked angrily as it followed him. Maybe Oni would be more talkative.
Fenrir almost ducked out of the way, but caught the flying utensil easily. "Okay, okay, I get it. Hauling arm-breaking bags here wasn't enough for you." He took off his coat and hat, rolling up his sleeves as he peered into the pot. The steam made him blink and wave the air above the food. Then he began to help Jake.

"Please. You think bringing this table, pot, spoons, and bowls was easy? Besides. Your stronger then that you big baby." Jake kept pouring as more troops came. "You could have just teleported here though. It's not like you had to carry it all. Or are you not like Strider like that, huuuuh?" Jake was raising his eyebrow at Fenrir.
Oni saw Crow fly over. "Yes?" Oni didn't like the useless demon. He was a good tactical person but he was very weak when it came to any actual fighting. "What do you want?"
Demios had retaken his position in the tower watching the south, where Reaper would come. The dark cloud had grown and was heading in their direction it seemed. Obviously a ploy of Reaper's. "Not much longer now." Demios looked down at the city below. the town was now empty of citizens but soldiers could be seen about marching or running here and there. It was now on his and his companion's shoulders to keep these men alive. Many would die before the end and this saddened Demios. He shook himself and looked back to the cloud. Thinking of death now would do no one any good.

((Strider, you didn't put what Demios was going to say to Elistral. Heh heh.))
Crow frowned at Oni, shaking his head. "Agh, nevermind then." Ezekiel flew up beside him just as he turned around in midair. "Everyone seems like they're being irritated now." He flew off across the Ravager army, feeling like nobody was in the mood for a nice chat.
Fenrir grinned widely at Jake, partly in apology and partly in amusement. "True, but maybe I felt like walking like everyone else?" He took a ladleful of soup for himself while the woman he served wandered away, waving a hand in front of his mouth to cool it from the heat as he chewed. When he swallowed, he went on a little quieter than before. "No, I am like him in many ways..." One of the defenders came up as he dipped the ladle back in, then out as if he wanted to let the food inside hit the ground. Instead it plopped in the man's bowl.

"He told me once you and he were good friends until Fate came along." Jake continued the slow deliberate process until finally no one seemed to want any more so he made himself a bowl. There wasn't much left but that was okay. "I sure wish he were here."
George was going along with a smile. He had never been in many wars in his long life but it seemed like fun. Perhaps he would meet Demios and kill him this time.

((Actually, I think you forgot.))
"We could have been." Fenrir said, possibly as close to admitting something that he actually didn't know as he could get. He leaned forward with his elbows on the edge of the pot, daring up at the sky. "For once, I'm not sure. Fate intervenes...oddly." He reached out and messed up Jake's hair, ruffling it up for no reason at all."Yeah, I miss him too. He kind of grows on you after the first few decades or so."

"Yeah, I suppose. But maybe it's just his voice or his presence but for some reason whenever he's around people they just have hope. But who am I to talk? We truly are old men, eh Fenrir?" Jake began to laugh at himself.

Rore waved quietly at Demios's back, glancing around to see if anyone had heard. No one appeared like they had. He turned to Elistral, who was playing nervously with one of the rings on her fingers. "What do you think of it?"
"We will manage." Elistral replied after a brief lapse, finding Rore's brown eyes observing her. "Many great battles have been fought before, won from unexpected sources. Such as the First End War."
Rore nodded in agreement. "I'm going to go and find my old armor. I can't fight unprotected." He gave a small laugh and rubbed a shoulder in nostalgia, remembering what it was like to wear the burdening suit. "Then I'll go to talk with the people in charge of the defenses."
Elistral clasped Rore's forearm in the gesture that was beginning to circulate around the Protector's, functioning like a handshake. She walked off into the crowd as he left too, muttering under her breath.
Fenrir laughed at, or with, Jake as well. "Hey, you're not old enough to say that yet. But I forgive you."

Strider looked over the land. A portion of the land was covered in a magical darkness. Black dragon's clouds he presumed. He looked over to where he knew Salim was and nodded in approval. The armies were assembled and preparing. But he feared that Reaper was far greater in number. He turned to the King of Elves. "We are still a day away but I fear we shall not make it before the siege begins."
The king was a tall elf clad in a silvery, gold metal. It seemed to glow with it's own light. Upon his head was a crown as if of stars linked with silver and golden bands of cloud. It held back his long yellow hair to reveal his glowing green eyes. "There is no helping the inevitable old friend. We shall descend upon the field of battle regardless of the situation upon our arrival.
Strider nodded and bid them to move on. A trumpet sounded and the ranks of elven soldiers began their march. There were infantry carrying long enlightened spears, archers with long bows of white wood, cavalry on unicorns clad in armor some silver metal, and then there were the winged cavalry. Elves upon the backs of mighty Phoenixes of a golden flame that burned only its enemy. So on marched the might of the elves with six thousand strong.
A horn sounded in the city from the walls. Demios had looked away but now he looked back across the horizon. Far off as if miniscule he could see a great mass of the enemy. The under side of the black clouds could be seen. Lightning cracked and thunder rolled as the black shroud advanced. "Now begins the trial of us all." Demios ran down the stairs to muster the troops and take counsel with the others. Reaper would be on their doorstep ere night came. Though all light would be gone before that time.

Inside his house, Rore took a long look at it. It may very likely be that it was destroyed in the impending attack. He gave a sad sigh, a shake of his head, and made his way to the main bedroom. Once there he braced his shoulder on one of the bed posts and shoved, grunting as the heavy piece of furniture scraped along the wooden floor. When it was moved, Rore bent down to pry one of the boards up. Inside the cavity was his armor, unused but still bright since the day he'd put it there, around 13 or so years ago. He lifted it up and out. A slight shock from the metal made him blink, and for a second he thought he saw dark innumerable bodies and heard the overpowering sound of many feet marching. Then he was back in his home. "Must be the stress..." He muttered, standing and beginning the task of putting his armor on.

Sylvia was on the wall with a few archers. She would be the one commanding this part of the wall. All around troops were being but into ranks or gathered on the walls. She counted over six thousand at the most. Not enough to break the now massing wall of enemies. She had gone to an armory and put on a mail hauberk and light metal armor. She was ready for battle.Jake had teleported to his tower and had began to put on his own battle gear. He had finally been given his own coat of Strider fashion. Thicker than dragons scale but as light as leather. It was orange with black trim. He then put on his gauntlets and steel fronted boots and grabbed his sword and shield and teleported back to Fenrir. "I don't suppose you shall be joining in on this charade?" Jake tied the last of the straps on his coat.Demios was barking orders to all of his troops. Dragons lifted into the sky to roost on the tops of buildings, ready to take off at the first sign of the opposing dragons. Demios was now clad in his Imperial Plate armor. He had placed on the helmet his golden crown. The front was comprised of an upside down triangle with three diamonds like stars and coming off the front were two long horns that smoothly curved back along the top of the helmet and at the end curved up. He was a sight to behold. He seemed taller then all of the other noble dragons about him but had the air of a common soldier. By now though the sky was going dark. Soon, the battle would begin.Reaper could now see Salim. The clouds had done their purpose well. None of the dark elves had complained of light. But now the sun was setting behind Salim giving the city a celestial look. Reaper despised the look and relished destroying it's beauty. "Have wrath in your hearts my horde! We come at last to the end of all things!" The horde cheered. It seemed more like a battle cry than a cheer but a cheer it was. Very deep and guttural but very menacing.
