Shikamaru closed his eyes halfway and then let out a sigh. People couldn't just take what he said. No, they had to go on and challenge his thoughts. After taking a few moments to just laze about and think about getting up, he finally got to his feet and then made his way over to Ino. He figured that if Naruto wanted to tag along, he could easily catch up. After a minute or so of walking, he ended up right behind Ino. Squinting a bit, he looked over her shoulder and into the air where he had remembered her kicking,"It would still need to be higher. I can guarantee that most people you fight will be taller than you. In that case, you would need to get your leg higher." He stated simply, keeping his voice fairly soft. There really was no reason to yell. His arms folded so that they were behind his back. Right now, he was calculating how tall the average opponent was. After doing so, he spoke again,"Most people would have their knee height at about a third of the way up your thigh. Therefore, where you were kicking was right near their knee."

Shikamaru laughed quietly at that comment, thankful that Naruto wasn't nearby at the moment because he would undoubtedly become annoyed and try to redeem himself,"Unfortunately enough, most people aren't as short as Naruto. It's really not that difficult to get your leg up the few extra inches. Just look at it this way; when you come across someone that is taller than Naruto, you'll be able to kick high enough to actually do damage." He gave a small shrug at the comment as he remained a few inches behind Ino. At the moment, he really didn't feel like moving considering she had made him move over there in the first place. Moving at all wasn't exactly on his agenda at the given moment.

'This looks interesting. I haven't got a mission, so watching these kids will be fun.' The jounin thought. Her cone shell was gripped in her hand as she leaned against the tree silently and closed her eyes. Out of the same tree, a tabby cat jumped out of there. She was a little ways away from Shikamaru, Ino, and Naruto, but still in plain site as the tabby, seemingly having no interest with any of the others around her, starting to scratch her ear using her hind leg.

The tabby cat blinked as she finished her grooming, or rather her scratching, just in time to see Ino hit Shikamaru in the face like that. She set her leg down as she poised herself. Her tattoo flashed blue for a blink of an eye as the tabby cat stood up, stretched, and slowly made her way towards the group. '...I'm mildly interested in them. I want to see how they fight. I'm pretty sure I know their names but you can scout for me to hear their names for me.' Said a voice in the cat's mind as she inwardly nodded, continuing her slow and steady pace towards the group.

'...Right they're going to spar.' She thought as the cat, at least ten feet away, suddenly turned her course from straight to towards Shikamaru, who was sitting around the exact distance. Sitting down near him, at least being a foot away from him, she sat down and curled her tail neatly on her paws, watching them with piercing green eyes. The konoha symbol on her shoulder shone clearly in her ginger fur.

'Shikamaru...sometimes your as dese and clueless as Naruto.' Ino moved into a front stance. "Yeah."

(I don't mind a little godmoding in fights with me, so you can make hits on my chars. Sometimes I'll block or avoid them, though. Have fun. ^_^ )

Ino ducked below both attacks Roled forward, only to throw a high back-kick at him from behind, on the ground.

Ino bent backwards and grabbed the ground with her chakra. She pulled herself low to the ground, dodging the kunai. "Don't tell me this is that all you've got, Naruto?"
