cumonk Puck's Wood The home of the trickster Puck, and his peers... In the forest that bears his name...the great trickster Puck rules with a humorous wit and oft-absent touch. The woods reflect both his light and dark sides. Gentle and mischievious, and dark and chaotic.
Like the glen itself, light filtering through the great and ancient boughs...both darkness and light, laughter and danger, love and hate go hand in hand here...
Would you brave the wood and the mysteries therein? The trickster and his forest awaits you...This way to the guild... A Tale of Woe The Trickster spins a tale of woe concerning a Bunyip of particularly poor fortune. This Bunyip was born to a proud and domineering Bunyip mother, and a coarse and racous Bunyip father. This would seem a normal enough Bunyip family for a sludgeling to come in to being with. The mother and the father were pleased to see that their young Bunyip child was the color of mud and dirt. It was a color that a Bunyip could be proud of. And it quivered and oozed as any Bunyip sludge should. This too, pleased the parents. The young Bunyip's trouble began when he emerged from his sludge, toddled awkwardly into the world, and blinked eyes that were the color of rotting greenery, wiggled toes that were caked with dirt and grime, and flapped wings that were as useless as they were the color of muck. But... The horror! The mother wailed as the father bemoaned this as a trick that even Puck would not stoop to. There were gnashings of teeth and pulling of wart hairs. Things were broken, shouts were heard, fluffy things were hurtled through the air. The parents were clearly NOT pleased. For you see...the unfortunate Bunyip child had skin that was as smooth as silk. Oh sure...it was as riddled and bumpy with the normal dips and swells that Bunyip have. And sure, it was dirty and colored such a pleasing color...but it was SOFT! It was SILKY! It was...HORRIBLE. No self-respecting Bunyip could be seen with such skin. And so...the tale of woe began. The poor Bunyip child suffered the ostracism of the truly less grotesque. What next? That is up to you. Spin a story, tell a tale, create a song concerning this young Bunyip. Does he quest to find a way to harden and scale his skin? Does he display other un-Bunyippy habits? Does he have some reason to be as he is?
The most amusing story will win this young Bunyip. The contest will end on July 4th!
Please PM your stories to cumonk. They will be posted in the thread afterwards for everyone to read.

cumonk Inhabiting the woods of the trickster are many type of creatures. Some known and approachable, some known and dangerous. Still others have yet to reveal themselves, staying cloaked in the forest that is mother to all of them.
Common Sightings
Alignment: Neutral Good Area: Wood Speech: Yes
Both Chirra and Apos start out as a "Puff". They are about the size of a cat, and have muscle mass to them, but they are litterally a ball of fluff with a tail. The fluff does not eat, or drink, or make any sort of sound. While they can move in an odd slinky-type movement, or hop, or even roll, their speed at doing so varies. They are fully intelligent in this stage.
In child stage, the Apos develope a distinctly canine appearance. The wings become its most striking feature, multi faceted and beautiful. Most Apos demonstrate the qualities of a wise old sage. They are often quiet, thoughtful, and prone to naps!
Alignment: Neutral Good Area: Wood Speech: Yes
While the Chirra also start out as a "Puff", their development is on a much more bipedal path. As a child they begin to take on more distinctly humanoid appearance. Once fully grown, they are about the size of a small child, and as innocent as one. Their mental acuities are, however; fully adult. Save for a rather unfortunate and racoon-like fixation on "shinies", they are very non-demanding and gentle creatures.
Alignment: Neutral Area: Wood Speech: Yes
The Stagg are a rather interesting breed. The child is neither masculine nor feminine at first, being born of no gender. The "default" gender is female. If the Stagg wants to become a male, it must undergo a rite of initiation. After which time, it has the sanction of the Stagg leader to eat of the tree of Halps. The Bark engenders a chemical reaction leading to the developement into masculinity.
If a young Stagg takes the bark without sanction, he is cast out from the herd forever. Once disavowed, the young male will spend most of the remainder of his days wandering to rue his fate.
Mudge
Alignment: Chaotic Speech: Yes (see description) Sightings: Common Area: Marsh
If you were to take the most unusual and creepy thing and put a face to it...you would likely have a mudge. Named for their muddy and sludge like appearance, as well as for their mumbling attempt to talk...these creatures are not in anywise a companion for those that would like a warm and fuzzy pet.
Often found in packs, that is also when they are most dangerous. Their chorus of half burbled yips and bays are truly eerie. In the dark, their eyes are luminescent...and for some, that is the last thing that they see.
Alignment: Neutral Area: Lake Speech: Limited
These playful denizens of the Lake are more seal than feline in manner. Mischievious and loving, they are quite trusting. They can also get carried away with their affection...Chirra have learned to be careful with this gentle lovers, more than one Dinny has beocme stranded while trying to follow an attentive Chirra home!
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Area: Aerie, Wood Speech: No
The Iguion is a strange amalgamation indeed. Neither hostile or friendly, they are generally solitary creatures, and indifferent to most things around them other than their own needs.
Alignment: Neutral Area: Wood Speech: Limited
Owls are often paired with ancient knowledge and wisdom. While the elder owls often are deserving of such praise, the younger owls are not quite so learned. Flighty and some might say callow, the young fledglings can often be their own worst enemy...
Alignment: Neutral Area: Aerie Speech: limited
The Coatl are distantly related to the Iguion. But where their cousin has adapted to the lower levels, the Coatl still lurks in the heights of the Aerie. While they do not have "wings" per se, there is a flap of skin that allows their hollow boned and deceptively light frame to "glide" from peak to peak. Their body is covered with fluffy down and feathers that allow for their aerodynamic life.
Their talons are so hard, and their strength so sure that they can hang completely upside down for hours on end. Much like a bat would.
 Alignment: Speech: Area:
Rare Sightings
Alignment: Chaotic Speech: Yes Area: Marsh
The "Bunyip" is a name adopted by these strange creatures because they used to be called "trolls". Not wanting such an inelegant name, they adopted "Bunyip", and beat up anyone to a pulp that dared to use the old name.
Hence, they are now never referred to (to their face, or within hearing at least) "trolls".
Posessing a squat, frog like body, covered generously with warts (or "beauty marks" as the females refer to them...see "trolls" for more information on how they enforce their view), the males warts are less patterned and random, whereas the females follow a distinct curvature.
Coarse, and bullying, these are not a very friendly creature to come across at all. If they decide not to eat you, they may decide to make you their slave.
Alignment: Neutral Speech: Telepathy Area: Any
Besides the Trickster himself, the Daeva are the most mysterious of the Wood's known inhabitants. They are solitary creatures, mating for life to their one true intended. Mystical and austere, these creatures bring great blessings...but not without a price.
To befriend a Daeva is the greatest of boons. But it is not an easy task at all to do so.
The Daeva are known in other cultures by different names. The most known identitiy of a Daeva is the title "Luck Dragon"
Alignment: Neutral Area: Lake Speech: Yes
The Caesgl are a shy and introverted race. While intermingling freely with the Dinny and other Lake dwellers, they shun most of the other races out of fear. Aloof and often nothing but a flash of color in the center of the lake, both Caesgl genders have beautiful voices both above and below the water.
As shy as they are, they are more than happy to serenade the glen...from a distance!
Sightings: Rare Alignment: Chaotic/good Area: Aerie Speech: Telepathy
The Wyrms are small dragon-like creatures. Not large enough to threaten villages and castles as the tales tell. But more than large enough to threaten a group of Chirra and Apos. Should it be of a mind to do so.
Alignment: Neutral/Good Area: Aerie, Wood Speech: Yes
The firebird is a title that can be misleading. They are not a fire-elemental at all, but the way that their form flickers in the light is very reminiscent of fire. Hence their name. Elusive and solitary, it is rare to meet a Firebird, and rarer still to convince one of your good intentions.
Like most of the rare mystical creatures, they are able to discern a person's true intent and have little hesitation on acting for or against it. Their powers are not fully known.
Alignment: Neutral/Good Area: Any Speech : Yes
The species of which the Trickster originates. Satyrs are sometimes referred to as "Pucks" as well. While they are varied in temperment, most all share the same love of play and mischief as their leader.
Alignment: Good Area: Any Speech: Yes
You would have to be a stranger indeed to lore not to recognize this beast. Pure and noble, the Unicorn are often found in male/female pairs. A Unicorn mates for life, and if their mate dies...the remaining partner soon follows.
Hunted for their alicorn, these creature sought the help of the trickster to survive. He has granted them their plea and they are under his direct protection.
 Alignment : Neutral Area : Aerie/Wood Speech : No
Griffons are wild and fierce. While not evil, they are often a proud and solitary creature. Part lion, part eagle, they share the hunting instincts of both.
While intelligent enough to differentiate between an inhabitant under the protection of the Trickster from plain prey, they can choose to defy Puck and attempt to attack an inhabitant.
Approach with caution, always.
 Alignment: Area: Speech:
The Celoshamans always begin life as a foundling. Noone really knows the reason behind this, but never has their first stage of life been seen. Their markings and decorations have meanings, but they will seldom if ever explain such to others. It is believed that the magic behind them will vanish if others know.
 Alignment: Area: Speech:
The Great Hawk eggs are unusual in that they are much heavier shelled than normal hawk eggs. Their natural predator, the Iguion, relishes their eggs and young. To prevent this, they have a much tougher shell than normal that their young can cut through. Companions
Companions come in all shapes and sizes, but in three general types: Dark, Neutral, Light. The dark gray area shows the Dark oriented species. The lighter gray area shows those species who can be oriented Dark, Neutral, or Light. The white area shows the Light oriented species. Please note that these are animal companions and they do not speak as the other species do.

cumonk Breeding When the music of the forest fills the air with its magic, a sacred ritual opens up. Only at this time does the ability to create new life become available. The sacred dance can be undertaken by two, or even three of the inhabitants of the wood. But regardless of what takes part, the results are always pure. There are no known instances of interspecies amalgamations. A chirra and apos taking part in the ritual will not create between them a cross-breed. As this is a mating of magical means, and not a physical act, the results are always chirra and apos distinctly. How does one know when the forest is inhabited with the music? Only the forest knows...

cumonk The area that comprises of "Puck's Wood" is not all forest, despite the name. While legend states that the Trickster originated his rule from his powerbase deep in the Wood, his influence now stretches far and wide. The map, as we know it today contains several different areas: 1. Lake of Dreams: A deep fathomless body of water that stretches almost as far as the eye can see. Almost. 2. Whispering Glen: The peaceful and quiet area of the forest. The safest place to be. 3. Puck's Wood: The wild, unpredictable depths of the wood that the Trickster calls his home. Many things, good and ill can happen here. 4. Marsh of Evermoor: An area that is off-limits to most. Definitely not a good place to be caught in alone. 5. The Aerie: High, craggy cliffs that are home to the air dwellers. 6. The Badlands: Do not enter. Seriously. Do. Not. For more information on the areas and their inhabitants, you can follow the mudge below... This way to the guild... Random Events A random event is just that. Like getting a pink link or chest, sometimes in Puck's wood, the unusual happens. It is up to the individual to take notice of it. One such event is the "grab bag" event. When you see this image pop up anywhere (other than here of course), the first person to claim it gets what is inside. This grab bag can show up anywhere at any time. Even in places you've seen before. Sometimes there will be a hint or riddle, sometimes not. So be sure to keep your eyes open. (they've even been known to show up in PM's...) We do not claim to have originated this idea. Other shops, such as the Talaye Meadows, use this idea.

Take it to a moderator, or to your PM's. 3. If you have a question, ask it in the thread. If it is a question asked often enough, it will make it to the FAQ section. 4. Read the front page. We put it here for a reason. 5. No PM's please. If you have read the page, asked in the thread and still have not received a good or satisfactory answer, THEN please ask here first if you can PM me. 6. No begging. 7. No PM'ing owners for any reason! 8. Patience. F.A.Q Getting an inhabitant of the forest....Q. How do I get one? A. Through normal flatsales, auctions and raffles. Sometimes there may be special events. Q. How much? A. Flatsale is 3K, and auctions start the same. Q. Do you do pet trades? A. Yes, in a sense. If I am not too busy, or I like the pet you are offering. Please do not be offended if I decline though, I have quite an army already! And a busy schedule! A list of wanted pets: (IE Definite trades) -- Fluffy Cat -- Verlashi Deity -- Blathanna -- Derkholm Gryphon Q. There are none available, but I REALLY want one! Can I bribe you? A. It would have to be a hefty bribe. Very hefty. Because I usally have nothing available when I don't have time. If you offer me a poor amount, I retain the right to decline, and if harrassed, I *WILL* blacklist you. Store upkeep and maintenanceQ. You have an awful lot of different types of lineart here. Did you STEAL any of it? A. No. Each different art is credited to its creator on the cert and in the thread. While they are different in consistency, it is because I have gotten them from different auctions. Nothing is stolen, and I do not CONDONE stealing. Q. How long does it take you to do .... --breeding --item orders --flatsales --hatchings --anything else A. As long as it takes me. I try to keep you abreast of things as I go along. So please don't pester me unless it has been a while with no mention of your particular issue. Q. Can I PM you? A. I'd rather you not. Not because I think I'm too good for PM's. . . but rather because my inbox gets filled up too quick as is. sweatdrop if it is something you simply MUST PM me about, ask here first for permission, so I make sure I have room. Q. Can I add you as an affiliate? A . Absolutely! Let me reciprocate! But PLEASE PLEASE use such sites as tinyurl.com for shrinking the size of your URLS. Q. I want a job! A. If there are any positions available, I will post them. RPQ. Are these RP mandatory? A. Good gods, no. sweatdrop Q. Do I get anything special for RPing? A. Yes. Q. But...Im not much of an RPer.... A. Understood. However, this is a casual RP environment. Even visitng the shop counts in my book as "rp". But VISIT, don't just pop in and flitter out for months at a time. smile Ritual of BreedingQ. I have a breeding question.... A. Please refer to the breeding section of the thread. I should answer it there. If not, please post the question in the thread.
