The tome before you belongs to Syrie and Kiarhu. There is a seal surrounding the book, one that allows you to leaf through the pages but prevents you from adding anything. The enchantment is strong and cannot be broken so easily, if at all. So just sit back and enjoy the Tall Tale that is unfolding before you. You can visit the Stationery Store to find out how you can write your own Tall Tale. Question: What made those marks? Answer: A shape-shifter. ** Name: Khiarhu Zaire Date of Arrival: January 5th, 2005 Age: Likely Story (Teen) Gender: Male Height: Varies Weight: 175 lbs Build: solid, but slightly lean; variable Hair Colour: Silverish-purple/slate Eye Colour: Deep red Fur Colour: Constantly shifting shades of black Likes: His family, warm sunny spots to nap in, hunting, music, karate and swimming Dislikes: Being hungry, having knots in his fur, and extremely bitter scents/tastes Partial To: Jiro, Linneas, Aido and Viddy
Special Markings: Two sets of horns that wind up from his skull (one like ram horns, the other more like a gazelle); scars on chest/muzzle (MetaPlot); under-colour of fur changes depending on mood**
Important Traits: Shape-shifting capabilities (fixed mass**). He is generally found in biped form - digit-grade feet and mostly humanoid hands; fangs are very sharp. His coat is a deep deep black, but there are undertone colors that change to reflect what he's feeling - if one knows how to read them.
Personality: Khia is a generally warm-hearted fuzz-ball with a strong sense of honor, loyalty, and right/wrong. He's highly intelligent despite the slightly "retarded" manner of speech he effects because of how incompatible a muzzle is with the spoken word; also, he is very athletic and enjoys physically tasking pursuits as much as a bookworm might enjoy a good book. As the shape-shifter has grown, he has become a little more violent in temperament; becoming prone to sparks of anger and fits where he is almost uncontrollable though these mood swings and tendencies were very likely due in large part to the goings on of the Wizard and Edict during the MetaPlot. Only time will tell.
Port Art by Prolixity**It has long since been noted that there was a lot more to the answer Syrie gave that day, however - this is the only one that was ever recorded into Khiarhu's Tome. **Note that the colour-shifting is very subtle; those that don't have exceptional eyesight will not catch it. **"Fixed Mass" means that Khiarhu's shape-shifting adheres to the laws of science. He can shift into many different objects, but the "end" mass must remain the same. For instance, he could not shape-shift into a small paper-clip, but he could shift into decent-sized desk/chair.

:: Linny is like...an older-little brother, kinda. He's the only one allowed to call me Paazi, a nick-name he gave me years ago that stuck between us.
:: Livvy came to live with us for a short while after Nyxa disappeared, but then she was adopted by Cassi. I really should try to reconnect with her...I wonder how she's changed.
:: Once one of my oldest friends, I haven't seen or heard from her in forever. Last news I caught wind of was that she was a street urchin and on drugs; it's painful to hear a that a friend can fall so hard like that.
:: Ai's one of my oldest friends; I really miss spending time with her. She gets hurt a lot 'cause she's helping everyone....I think maybe she forgets she can get hurt too. Even when we don't see each other, she pops up somehow -- and she's left me two awesome gifts. I need to repay the favor sometime soon. Maybe take her out somewhere?
:: I haven't talked to the Cap'n too much, though I've certainly heard he's been an a*****e to others. On the other hand, he was there when I killed Nen and Andi, fighting to protect the others -- so he can't be all bad.
:: I've SEEN him...but..we never talked. He seemed kind of...shy.
:: It's been years since I saw Andi...and, uh...Dad says I killed him while I was out of my head.
:: Haven't really met Angelus...know that Jiro didn't like him, and he was kind of...stuck up when I saw him a good while back. I still think he's just one of those quiet, self-contained people.
:: Ying likes fire, like I do! She's pretty cool for a girl...haven't seen her in a long time though.
:: Viddy's one of my old friends though we haven't seen each other much in a long time. Her little brother is a Tale too.
:: Dad says that we're close, or were before I lost some of my memories -- I kind of remember this, but not nearly as much as he says. It's really strange, but I guess that was the price I had to pay to come home...
:: I...I think I owe my life to this woman now. I don't remember...
:: Viddy's little brother; we haven't really met yet, but I heard that he fought very bravely against the shadow-things. I don't remember that part at all.

"What a dusty place, Huni was right when she said it would need a lot of work..." The blond kitsune flicked his ears as he moved deeper into the shop - and farther away from Huni (as his kind are prone to wandering away from groups - and generally into trouble). Syrie noticed several groups of slashes clawed out from some of the walls 'I wonder how those marks got there... will have to fix them, definitely...' He flicked his tail a bit and opened his sketchbook again - he had wanted to take down measurements for the building on this trip, figure out what needed to be done to help fix up the shop before it opened.
Syrie kept skribbling furiously in his sketchbook despite the flickering lights that threatened to go out completely as he wandered blindly around the empty shop. As he wasn't watching where he was going, he didn't notice that he'd wandered into a rather interesting room. There was a large tome laying open, pages waving silently, though the kitsune didn't pay much attention until the magic of the room pricked his senses.
"Huh? Oh, wow..what's this?" He looked around, ears swiveling. Did Huni know what this was? Had she left it here for him to see? Syrie shut his sketch book and moved closer to the tome; from the corner of his eye, he saw a Huni-shaped hole in the wall, but didn't pause to think on it too much. The pages of the tome glowed a bit, the magic calling to him, reaching out to stroke his senses. "Hmm..." As he peered in the book, there appeared to only be one word "why" on each page. "Curious...very curious..."
Being a Kitsune, and thus being inclined to indulge in his curiosities; Syrie picked up one of the quill pens beside the tome and dipped it gracefully into the inkwell, hand poised for just a moment before a sure hand placed the strokes that would form the characters of his question.
"What made those marks?"
The moment the question was formed the lights went out completely and a great wind sprung up from nothing, blowing papers and pencils every which way. "Oh no, what have I done?!" Syrie's tail poofed out to twice it's normal size as he dove out of the study in a swirl of loose, yellowing pages. It took only moments before the winds died down and the lights came back on, but it felt like forever to the blond; he looked at the mess he'd somehow caused and whimpered a bit. Huni was going to KILL him if she saw this mess! He was supposed to be helping clean up, not destroying things.
"Syrie?" His red-orange ears perked as he heard Huni's soft voice calling from a few rooms away. Stormy-grey eyes widened and he zoomed around to clean up this mess, but when he picked up a heaping armful of the yellowing pages - could it really have been that many!? - he almost dropped them. Something bit him! 'Paper doesn't bite!' But the scent of blood told him yes, he had been bitten, he wasn't hallucinating! At that moment, Huni came in to see the disheveled kitsune holding onto a little black ball of fluff.
"What in Gaia...?" Before Huni could say anything more, Syrie pried the little fuzz-ball from his arm, only to have it all but dive into his shirt, shivering against him as he tried to explain what had happened. The red-head was semi-familiar with this, as she'd just experienced it with Linneas, her new "charge"; so she just sort of nodded and went back into the study, coming out with a tome that appeared to be black, but if you looked at it too long, the colors sort of shifted.
"This is yours, I think..." Syrie gave up trying to pull the fuzz-ball from his shirt. It wasn't moving anywhere, and it sort of purred at him when he left it alone...whatever it was, it probably hadn't meant to bite him. He took the book and looked at the gold embossed cover...
Khiarhu by Syrie
"Khiarhu?" Syrie murmured the creatures name apparent, only to have it start kneading his side a bit. 'Yup, that's it's name alright...' Huni giggled at him, and then mentioned something about how they had their work cut out for them.
She certainly had that right.
