I'm a little appauled at the amount of protesting that goes on about gay people in the united states, or what I've seen in the media (which can only be taken with a grain of truth), what is everyone's opinion on this.
I'm also very interested in the christian view of what is going on, and do you think this is a bad image for your religion.

i'm not a religious person nor am i gay, but if i was both, i would wonder why god hated me so much for liking a girl.

A. Not a choice. - would you seriously decide to wake up one day and be gay and have to deal with a lot of crappy things? No one would.
B. Yes the protesting goes on here and it seems to have gained momentum in pace with reference to blaming all bad upon the LGBT community. Hurricane Katrina was all GLBT's fault because of all the "seedy" behavior in New Orleans. It is their fault that service men are dying.
C. Yes I do think this is a poor image of Christianity. What happened to love thy neighbor and so forth? People profess to believe, but not follow. Good example? Nope.

Oh, BTW, I am new and am not intending to start a flame war or anything... just trying to contribute to a conversation smile

Yeah no flaming, just wondering and wanting to discuss the topic and wanted to know about those who actually think this is ok.

I think everyone should love whoever they want. Same gender? Who should cares? As I see it, love is blind. You'll never know who you will fall in love with and you won't regret it when you do.

Personally, I think the protests are a bit too insane for everyone, but some things just have to be heard, I guess.

To be heard yes; but the approach is a tab much, no?

To picket a fallen soldiers' funeral because "of gays" is a tad much. If it weren't for soliders fighting, they would not have the freedom to be vocal of their opinions.

I agree with free speech - but there comes a point that a line is crossed. To say "God killed this man because of the US's stance on gay issues" is reaching at best - and a slap to Americans as a whole. Do we really want other's to see us as turning our backs on our fallen because of religious/personal beliefs?

True. Very true.

I too see that as something pretty much pathetic. A soldier does not die because of a person who's gay. That doesn't make much sense, nor is it even really right.

I don't even see these protests as anything interesting or having a purpose. Really...none at all.

Those protestors... they are the sort of people who make me mourn for my species.
So much pain, and hatred, for no good reason.
I watched a short movie clip on YouTube, where one fo their leaders was interviewed. I was appalled. By her actions, and by her arguments and attempts at self justificiation.

Gay people are like the rest of us. I don't care in the least who they love.

People like those protestors... THEY are the main problem with religious people. They give the ordinary decent people a bad name. They make christians look bad by association.

It's sickening.

I an not a believer, but at it's core christianity has some wonderful messages of peace and love. To see them ignore in favour of those hateful messages instead. It is not a pleasant sight.

P.S. I am gay, I love gigacannon. He is one SEXY b***h.

Yes although funny the hypocrisy of it, it's a little sad that some of the people in the said religion promote it.

AIDS is God's punishment to gays!

...oh so that's why thousands of straights are dying from it, eh? Just because some book says vaguely that men shouldn't "abandon women their rightful purpose" and "lie with Peter like with whoever", why should that take away a person's rights? All men created equal ring a bell here? The constitution has apparently become less important than the bible.

Christains that put homosexuals down should be clunked in the head by the Bible and actally read what it says.

In the Bible, it says not to have sex with he same sex, it does not say you shouldn't have an attraction to the same sex. Homosexuality is based on attraction not action. Thus homosexuality is not sinful.

Even if it was sinful, everyone has sined one way or another and every sin is no greater than another, thus it's hypicritical to put others down for their sin. And all sins can be forgiven if you repent; end of story.

By the way, i'm an Atheist. I'm only telling you the logic for the Bible.
