Concept:

History: Ukata's parentage is unknown, at least his blood parentage. As a cub he was adopted into the litter with Ushuafu and Audilifu. Growing up with them was interesting, to say the least, until all three went their seperate ways. Ukata has spent most of his time traveling about, wandering from pride to pride and messing with as many creatures heads as possible.

A Concept of Denial:

The Definition of Denial
–noun
1. an assertion that something said, believed, alleged, etc., is false: Despite his denials, we knew he had taken the purse. The politician issued a denial of his opponent's charges.
2. refusal to believe a doctrine, theory, or the like.
3. disbelief in the existence or reality of a thing.
4. the refusal to satisfy a claim, request, desire, etc., or the refusal of a person making it.
5. refusal to recognize or acknowledge; a disowning or disavowal: the traitor's denial of his country; Peter's denial of Christ.
6. Law. refusal to acknowledge the validity of a claim, suit, or the like; a plea that denies allegations of fact in an adversary's plea: Although she sued for libel, he entered a general denial.
7. sacrifice of one's own wants or needs; self-denial.
8. Psychology. an unconscious defense mechanism used to reduce anxiety by denying thoughts, feelings, or facts that are consciously intolerable.

Why Denial?

Denial is something people live with everday. Odds are, at least 50% of the people you see every day are in denial of something, or are denying themselves something (wether these somethings be such common things as a certain type of food, or drink, or more harmful things such as denial of an unpleasant memory.)

Most likely, you yourself are in denial of something this very minute, wether or not you're aware of it. This concept expresses itself through so many different areas of life, and yet the majority of the population only looks upon it when its in a negative light. The truth is, denial can be quite a wonderful thing, as well as something deeply aggrivating and occassionally destructive.

In the positive

Denial as a positive thing, the light most people forget, can be found in its psycological definition. "An unconscious defense mechanism used to reduce anxiety by denying thoughts, feelings, or facts that are consciously intolerable." This simple definition holds the best side of denial--its defensive side. Many people have benefited from this, and while continued denial can lead to more negative things, its immediate surfacing to block things that could lead to greater harm, is something to be thankful for.

On a lighter, but none the less positive, note, the ability to consiously deny things can be put to a lot of use. Without this, we would not have the means to restrain ourselves from bad foods or harmful acts. Self restraint, and possibly will power itself, is quite closely tied with denial.

The Darker Side

More commonly know, the darker side of Denial tends seemingly outweighs any good it can cause. Will power aside, the ability to deny reality can be a quite dangerous tool indeed if given into "the wrong hands." Just as denial allows us time to deal with large issues, there are those who use it to escape those issues indefinatly. Those with lesser, or no, morals can use denial to escape and twist reality to their own whims. Such persons can include, but are not limited to, serial murderers, rapists, theives, and drug addicts.

Not all of those who use denial in such a way are so "evil" in nature. Many of those afflicted with this "disease" are what we would call normal people. The more dangerous individuals simply stand out a lot more than those less harmful to the people around them. One cannot say that there isn't a danger in overuse of denial, for self delusion, of which denial is deeply involved, is never a good thing.

The Beast

Ukatazaji is a singularly precarious being. Ever fluctuating beliefs make his thought process hard to follow, and more often than not his actions take a completely unpredictable shift halfway through. Wether there is reason behind his rhyme is a question no one has ever been able to answer, though many have tried.

One could call Ukata a habitual lier, one could call him crazy; no matter the explanation you pick, there is one constant truth: Ukatazaji is the most disagreeable being you're likely to meet. Never agreeing with anything another says about his own person, Ukata could deny that air is good for a living creature until his own fur turned blue. To some extreame, it is often joked among those who know him that the lion's death will never be, for in the event he would be killed, Ukata's single-minded denial of that fact would surely turn him into the living dead. Perhaps its already happened, and no one is the wiser.

This contradictory existance keeps him as the bane of most sane creatures, though those with good humor might stand him for a time. More annoying to most is Ukata's steadfast seriousness. Jokes, the rare ones that are made, are even kept in a serious tone. Still, there remains some debate that Ukata's entire seriousness is his own way of a joke. Surely, if asked, he'd deny it.

The Powers of Denial

Denial's powers arn't what anyone might term as "great" or "powerful" at a first glance. In fact, even a second or third look might not find any power there at all. If you look beneath the surface, however, this force can become quite the titan.

Despite his seeming inability to be honest about himself with others, he's quite astute at telling what those in front of him are denying, and, if he chooses, to encourage those denials to grow. In reverse of that, he can lessen these denials. For a person whos denial is wrapped up in self will, these effects can be particularly destructive by either lessening their ability to deny themselves those things that are bad for themselves, or adversely increasing their denial to an absurd degree.

As an example, eating disorders can be invoked. Allowing one's self to over indulge in food, especially of the sweet variety, can be linked to a lack of self restraint, just as anorexia can be linked to too much restraint.

While these effects are hard to see, and even harder to prove, they can go a long way in making or breaking a person. In this way, Ukata has lived his life fairly peacefully as he's able to easily manipulate from the background rather than get involved in a more obvious, agressive manner.

Name: Kizuka
Meaning: Phantom
Parents: Unknown
Mate: Ushaufu (Dfa)
Offspring: Kimaji (Freodwyn)

Obtained: May 06

Pride:
Umande'mfuni
Position in pride:
Personality: Much like her horse character counterpart, Kizuka is wild and dangerous to try and hold down. Moving like the wind, she's spent her entire life on the roam and will only settle for stopping at the lands she once knew as home. A little paranoid, and massivly religious, Kizuka is as stubborn as they come; woe be the one who tries to stop her once she's decided on her course of action.

History: Kizuka was born into the Mistweaver pride a month before the plague ravaged the land. Originally in a litter of five, the sickness and disease reduced the count to two, herself and her younger sister, ______. Though their numbers had plummeted from the plague, the Mistweavers continued to live and rebuild their lives before the Firekin came. In the heart of the slaughter, Kizuka gathered together with her sister, her friend Triv'an, and a few of the other surviving cubs. Together they fled the lands, paws hastened by the their parents' demise.

Shortly after, the group split up, members going off in ones or twos. Soon, Triv'an and Kizuka were left alone. They spent the coming months and years together, learning out to survive even with the odds against them. Somehow they managed not only that, but to bring a little girl into the world as well. It was shortly after Kimaji's birth that a little bird brought a whisper of surviving Misties in the lands they still called home.

Intrigued, the trio set off to see what had become of the valley. After months of hard travel, through hostile land and hill and rain and desert, they arrived to find Umande'mfuni lost in a drought, slowly sapping the green fertility of the land into nothingness. Here, Kizuka met a strange, dead-looking cub lying upon the rocks at the border of the Valley. The God of Deception, Ushaufu, soon became intrigued with her and decided to take up a game of deception with her.

After forming their quartet, the group moved into the valley and found a small cave to call their home. While Kizuka began to search and see if the rumors of a new-Mistweaver pride were true, there was trouble brewing on the homefront. Shortly after arrival, Triv'an slipped away into the night, never to be seen again.

Though confused and saddened by her friend's departure, Kizuka continued to search for her birth pride, aided by her daughter and newfound friends, Ushaufu. It was around this time that Varg, Ushaufu's self appointed guardian, made his presence known. The hawk soon became a figure of great standing in their little family, looked to as they would have a grandfather.

The months past, and the cubs grew, Ushaufu at a rather noteable rate for the God cub had seemed to be an adult even when "trapped" in an adults body. As he grew, and the situation between he and Kizuka became more complex, confusion doubled for the both of them. Things finally came to a head when Ushaufu's sister, The Goddess of Truth, dropped in to see her brother. Though her words were far from straight forward, the truth was spilt between them so that they could never pretend to go back to their former relationship: Ushaufu and Kizuka had fallen in love.

Confused by this, the adolescent Ushaufu ran from the lands, leaving Kizuka, Kimaji and Varg far behind. Depression warred on Kizuka's mind, but she refused to let that stop her. As the decision between following Ushaufu and staying to find her pride came to head, the soon-to-be Queen of Umande'mfuni stumbled across their encampment herself. Though cautious about strangers, the two soon reached an understanding: once Kizuka had found Ushaufu again, the three of them would return to Umande'mfuni for acceptance into the pride, or exhile.

While she was not content with the thought of being rejected from the people she had loved since birth, Ushaufu was far more important to her. Unfortunatly, his flight made a ground trail impossible. She scoured the desert surrounding the valley, hoping for some sign or clue of a direction to follow. During this time she found, not the male she was looking for, but another travel worn individual.

Mo'onasai had been wandering the desert for an unimaginable amount of time. Obviously distressed about more than the heat and lack of water, Kizuka immediatly took pity on the poor creature. Temporarily putting her quest aside, the lioness helped Momo to make it into the dried jungle of Umande'mfuni. After finding that the lioness didn't even know where or when she was, Kizuka offered her a place in their cave to recooperate.

When Momo was settled, Kizuka once more took to the desert sands, and was this time met with success. Their meeting again seemed to be fated, for the God, now grown though the ravages of the drought still marked his body, was on his way to return to her side. Finally, the two willingly admitted their love for one another, in a slightly uncomfortable but wholly relieved conversation. Though technically a "pair" now, the two still have a few more trials to under go before their happy ending--or before they're even comfortable with their newfound relationship!

..//Family and Friends..

Triv'an: The father of her (first) daughter, Kimaji, and very good friend. He's long since left their family group. (not her mate)

Kimaji: Her baby girl, by Triv'an.
Ushaufu: Her best friend and mate. It took a long time for them to get where they are with one another... but it was worth it.
Varg: A hawk that has taken a 'fatherly' role to Ushaufu and long become a friend of the family.

..//Embamba..

User Image

Name: Embamba
Meaning: ?
Parents: Lpogi (Mother)
Mate: Ndege (Ieeko Takeru)
Offspring: Kimya'asikari (Skyefenyx), Barazahi (lightwolf), Ata'Jasisi (wooga paes)

Pride: Mteo'nyungu
Position in pride: Unknown
Personality: Generally considered Meek and mild, Embamba... actually is, for the most part. Being treated like a china-doll her entire life actually had a reverse affect on her than it would most--she's generally quiet and reserved, and always wants to be as helpful to those around her as possible, rather than bratty or spoiled. When a temper does strike her, the lioness generally talks herself out of it, or at least tries. Current events are pushing her to what may be the breaking point, however.

History: When the great plague hit Mteo'nyungu, the death toll was large. So large the ancient ritual of thought-blood letting upon a lion's death led to a red stain permanently left between the trees to mark the entrance to the den. Many lions worried for their health, and that of their children or mates.
Embama was a frail lioness, so frail she had never been allowed to hunt, and fears for her health were extreme. As a cousin of Warithi, the heir, she was of royal blood, and after the deaths of Warithi's sisters, next in line should Warithi die of the plague. Her mate, Ndege, asked, and was permitted, permission to take Embamba away until the illness passed, swearing to return. With them they took Angusho and Chuguu, a Shujaa to keep them safe, and an Msaka to feed the party.
Unfortunately, they got lost, never having left the Mteo'nyungu lands before.
Though now on their way back, their prolonged absence has meant that the rest of the pride thinks them dead, and have mourned their passing.
It is time for their return, both to the pride, and to life.

..//Family and Friends..

Ndege:
Kimya'asikari:he's like his father's son. He's trying to prove himself to be a good protector and is constantly trying to make his father proud, especially in his father's presence. He really cares about his mother and siblings, though sometimes he can be rather dense. He likes to joke around about things and make bad situations better, but he has a serious side that pops up when need be. He's really a typical boy teenager most of the time, though he really respects his duty to his family and the pride.
Ata'Jasisi: Ata is a pretty witty, and is always sure to keep her confidence up in the air, she wants to make sure her whole family is happy, and wants to mae everyone in the pride proud too, but she's rather laid back, and is never entirely serious, treating life as if it were a game. She's always there, teasing, playing and making the best of time, when troubled, hides it untill she's happy again.
Barazahi:She's fairly vain, always worrying about her beauty, but overall a very sweet girl. She doesn't really want to go back to her pride because she's content with her life in the roguelands, but knows the pride needs her, and will go back without too much complaint.

...//Double the Fun...

Kisoni

Annoying buzzings and chirps and song in the underbrush confirmed that the insect life of Misty certainly hadn't been damaged at all by the drought. Oh no, in fact they seemed to flourish... most likely on the flesh of whatever was dying nearby. Wonderful. Kizuka sighed as she made her way down to where the waterfall was still weakly falling. There was still green here on this side of the valley; it was nice.

Kizuka had taken off earlier that afternoon after Triv'an and reappeared, and decided to go out searching herself. They were still trying hard to find the pride that was supposed to be inhabiting this reletively small vally, and yet there was no luck despite the size. In fact, they hadn't managed to find anyone other than Ushuafu in the valley thus far. Still, at least it was safe here.

The lioness ventured out towards the shore's edge, her muzzle lowering almost to the water's surface so she could lap up some of the cool liquid. Wonderful stuff, really. So long as they had enough of this they could last in the valley a little longer... too bad the water was starting to dry up as well. "My lord, I know you're mad," She whispered softly to the water, "But we need rain. Your people are going to die soon."

Sometimes belief in a religion was just as much of a burden as the hoplessness of belief in nothing. Kizuka shook her head and raised it up to look at the stary, clear sky above, desperatly searching for any sign of a cloud. Still nothing. A sigh ripped from her mouth and she began to wade into the water, preparing to cross the river and search the other side. maybe if the new Mistweavers were just a rumor, she and Triv'an could attempt to build up a new tribe here. She didn't really want the burden.. but it would be nice to see Mistweavers live again.

Kizuka was bored. He sighed looking up at the clear sky. "Cloudless once again." Slowly, he got to his feet. "Doesn't it rain here?" He asked no one. Drogo, he imagined, was asleep in some tree. It was amazing, he had been here for months, and he had only met two people.

The young cub stretched. First his back legs, then his front. Despite the time, he wasn't tired. The heat was killing him, least he could swear it was trying too. Once again, he looked to the sky and talked to the stars. "Do you ever plan on raining, and saving us from this heat?"

It was time for a drink. Kizuka walked towards the nearby waterfall. As he neared, he saw an older lion. A lioness. He paused for a moment. What if she wasn't friendly? He glanced toward the tree. Worse come to worse he could climb it. He's watched Dogo enough times to probably be able to do it. Kizuka wasn't going to deny it...he couldn't outrun her. Tentatively, he approached the lioness. "H-hello," he greeted quietly.

Kisoni
Kizuka quite nearly jumped when she heard the voice--she hadn't even heard the boy approaching! One ear swiveled in his direction but no response came as Kizuka continued through the water towards the shore on the opposite side. Who knew what lay in these waters, and even crocodiles, if they were hungry enough, would mess with a lioness. Only after she had pulled herself to the other edge did Kizuka turn to look at the little grey cub near her.

He wasn't a mistweaver cub.. or at least didn't look like one, but if it was a rebuilt pride he easily could be one of theirs. Odds are, they would have had to take in other.. breeds? nationalities? Exactly what should she call them, she wondered idly before brushing the thought off. "Hello," The lioness offered in return, her deep voice rich and warm with a welcoming tone. The studder in the boy's voice had belied his nervousness around her, as did the very way he moved and smelled. "Don't worry, dear, I won't hurt you."

Kizuka took a moment to shake the water from her fur since, at night, it wasn't much of a relief against the little heat that remained. When that was done and she'd smoothed the fur of her front paws and chest, the lioness moved closer to the cub. Slowly she circled him once, giving him a good look over before she sat down in front of him, "What's a small one such as yourself doing out so late, then?"

Kiawna

Kizuka watched her as she waded through the water before coming back and standing in front of him. Her voice soothed him. "I wasn't tired." He stated simply. "The heat's almost too much for me." He almost whined. Slowly he brought his blue gaze up to meet her chocolate one. "When was the last time it rained?" He asked. "I mean. It's been a long time right? It should rain soon..." His gaze was hopeful. Surely an adult would know.

Kisoni
It was nice to see a cub who warmed up to strangers so fast.. and a little unnerving. Still, his trust wouldn't be misplaced this time around. "I don't know when it rained last," the lioness replied with a regretful sigh, "Though I, too, hope it will rain soon. The valley needs it.."

Kizuka's eyes lifted up once more to roam over the vast area around them, eying the drying trees and plants. It still wasn't that bad here. Yet, try as she might, she couldn't see a sign of any other lions nearby. How odd...

Once more a smile crossed her maw, knowing it would do no good to scare the poor cublet. "Where are your parents, little one?" Kizuka lifted her nose to sniff the air, "I don't smell them.. and one so young as you shouldn't be out alone."

Kiawna
Kizuka sighed before looking over at the trees and grass as well. "I suppose the mist from the waterfall is keeping them alive." He stated, thoughtfully. "Even that is drying up though."

The cub shifted slighly. "I'm not sure. I've been alone for as long as I can remember." He paused. "I found a friend and he's been helping me." Kizuka wasn't sure if he should mention his friend was a Lemur. He remembered Dogo telling him that lions ate lemurs.
