According to scientists research on the effect of interracial breeding. There will be no white people, no black people, no Asians, or eskimos, or Indians. There will only be one race: The human race.
What I want to know is, will this mean will also lose the history and heritage assiociated with each race once this is done? And what do the people think of the races blending into one?

I kind of like it and I kind of don't. I like it since there wont be any racism anymore, but it would also suck for all the reasons you just said, like none of the history or anything.

None of the history will be lost. Nothing will be lost except some importance. It is doubtful that everyone will ever be the same race. Many factors apply to this, including the fact that many people do not favor interracial dating, many because of slight racism, others simply because they do not find other races attractive. Other reasons include the locale. No one in their right mind would inhabit the deserts only to find a mate, nor would they stay there if they did. Some places just favor certain people.

I'd like to point out that it would only happen if there wasn't random selection for mating. Some families discourage interracial dating, for example, keeping segregation between the two races... and there's a lot of folks out there who just aren't into other 'sides' of humans besides their own skin colour - for example, some Caucasians are only attracted to Caucasians.
Therefore, if there is continually random selection, there will NEVER be a single 'race' of humans.
Race used liberally, as we all know that the Human race is Homo sapiens sapient. Not black, white, asian, eskimo, hispanic, etcetera.
EDIT: Well... er... pretty much just what Vyce said. Damn you, Vyce. D;

Son of Axeman Taily: No fair scoring pervert points in the IPG. You have an unfair advantage. Psh. Stick to the topic, Axeman. ;3 ( And any points I earn from the IPG are invalid due to your reasoning anyway. I only count ones from outside it. heart )

I don't really think that this could happen unless the "Lathe of Heaven" actually existed (Read up on Ursula K. LeGuinn for more).
We can't truly ever all be the same, even if we were "one race." And I hate to break it to people, but we already ARE all part of the human race.
As far as we can tell, we're all human, and the fact that we can intermarry and interbreed with sterile offspring being the result is proof of that.
Anyway, I think the whole "melting pot" thing is a myth. I'm second generation Italian American, and I still have my Italian pride, even though I've never been there.

No better, and no worse than anyone else they see, or meet? Gives me the shivers just think about it. *If you read Harrrision Bergeron, you would, too* And yes, we all already are a part of it, but most refuse to see that the person with darker, or lighter color/better, or worse clothes/ a different lifestyle, or religion, could possibly be like them in some way...

It's not so much that anyone can be better or worse than anyone else, Koi, it's the loss of being unique. Sure, i'm not unique by being a Caucasian from Britain. But, i'm unique because i'm who I am, as a Caucasian from Britain.
I'll bet there's someone pretty much exactly like me, only with a different skin tone. If we were all one 'colour', we're no longer unique, are we.
Plus, I take pride in me being an English whiteboy an' all that. If I can't have my little niche by being part of the oppressive majority, things are gonna be pretty bleak indeed. crying

If I were to llose what made me unique, and special, then...*shivers* It's something I don't like to dwell on.

I think that it would be less interesting. No one should ever be completely equal. I hate to think how the world would be with handicaps so no one would feel bad. People are starting to care about self-esteem too much. If you're worse at something, you're worse at something. It will not help Jimmy's strength or education to tell him that he's just as smart as Annie even though he thinks 2+2=7 and box is spelled "boks". If he's told that it's dumb to think that and box is spelled 'box' then he'll be better able to handle insults and will know spelling a little better.

I don't think it will lead to the loss of heritage. People have a habit of creating new heritages. look at US americans for example.
The loss of color discrimination will be welcomed at least by me.

The human race started out as one race to begin with. Evolution occured because certain people of that race were better equiped for certain environments. If people one day integrate into only one race (which I very highly doubt will ever happen) then what's to stop the evolution from occuring again and changing the human traits in favor of survival in whichever environment they live?
EDIT: Besides, you don't look exactly like any of your brothers or sisters, do you (even idential twins don;t look exactly alike. I know well because I'm dating one.)? You and your brothers and sisters aren't good at exactly the same things, correct?
Genetics are almost completely randomized. You never know what you'll come out with. There was a report I read a while back, about two mixed parents (50% caucazoid, 50% negroid) who had twins. They had one white daughter with blue eyes and blonde hair, and one black daughter with brown eyes and black hair. They didn't even come out the same color!
The notion that there will eventually be one race is almost perposterous to me because of genetics...it just doesn't seem plausable. I remeber worrying a while back that people with resessive traits would eventually become extinct (no more Arians)...but I don't think that will ever really happen, at least not for a VERY long time.

I don't think we'll all be the same... there's dominant and, uhm, lesser dominant traits. Dammit, it's been too long since I studied genetics. >.<
Anywho, I think interracial marriage and the like's a great thing. It's the best of both (or more than two) worlds. You wouldn't necessarily lose heritage and tradition because while you may be two or more races, you are still entitled to your past. I'm Asian and French, for example, and I haven't lost either. Well, I didn't know I was French until recently, and the French don't have anything as special as Asian traditions, so I'm not that great of an example.... but I still like escargot?
I'd just like to say I think Keanu Reeves is awesome. whee
