I was walking home from Best Buy and, out of the blue, some white dude with a suspicious look in his eyes calls me a Douche Bag and motions me to come towards him. Luckily, I had my music playing, so my thoughts weren't collected enough to be angry, or to do something rash, so I walked on.
But it made me wonder, what causes people to hate other people? *For me, it may have been the fact I was wearing a Raider's Jacket, or had on headphones, and I cut him off accidentally*

I think that it is part ignorance, part deeper stuff. Some people are naturally inclined to distrust and look down upon others for all sorts of reasons. There are some people I know who judge others for all sorts of reasons, all of them being superficial. Racism and homophobia are often because of upbringing, but not always. Some people that come from homophobic families are totally pro-homosexual rights and all that and/or are homosexual themselves. Just like with racism, some people who aren't racist come from racist families. But some just go with what their parents think. Those tend to be the ones with less brainpower than those who rise above their upbringing, for they tend to think of their values. I've always been lucky in that I have a family that's very open to all ideas and opinions and suggests doing your own research and all that before you form an opinion.
So I guess it can be fault of upbringing and ignorance, really. Hating people for no reason besides race, sexual orientation, age, or gender is stupid.

To me, if he had said something more racial, like Carlos Mencia's favorite descriptor word for latinos.....>_>....perhaps it would be more like racism. But I wouldn't say that just because some guy yelled at me for accidentally getting him wet with my garden hose while he's walking by, that he's being sexist. Sometimes, people are just assholes, and it's not necessarily racially or sexually motivated. If he was wearing a white Klan costume and was all "hey boy, wanna watermelon?"...that's another thing altogether.

I just see him as someone who hasn't been put in his place yet. ^_^ Which reminds me, has anyone ever had to put somebody in their place?
