Destiny City Guidebook

Setting Information

Destiny City is a fictional metropolis on the Eastern Coast of the United States (Virginia). Destiny City functions as a standard large city in the United States; the shop operates in real time, so unless otherwise stated, existing locations, brands, and current events can be assumed to be happening in the real world as much as in our RP world. A major current exception to this is Covid-19 which, for the sake of RP opportunities, never caused a major lockdown and does not exist in the shop.

Destiny City has a huge population, and though the powered war is often written off as 'gang related hostilities', it doesn't seem to prevent people from living here. Destruction runs rampant in Destiny City, so the property damage rate is quite a bit higher, however there’s always someone offering cheap rent and good insurance.

Destiny City is a thriving metropolis despite also being a hotspot for crime. Anyone living in Destiny City is almost guaranteed some level of success; it is a place of opportunity and growth. However, due to the crime, there is a risk of being a victim in an ever expanding wave of crime. The media tries to minimize reports of 'crime', both natural and those caused by powered individuals. While some news may advertise the attacks and natural disasters, this news is mostly drowned out and many legitimate stories are written off as something for the tabloids.

Destiny City has a huge population; the official death toll from youma attacks, starseed thefts, and casualties of war are skewed because most of the deaths cannot be classified as murder. In instances of starseed deaths, it might simply appear as though the person slipped into a coma or died a natural death. Youma can do damage in many different ways—one youma may breathe a toxic gas, one might maim, and one might simply drain all the energy out of someone. These might be written off as attacks from stray animals or gang attacks. There is no denying that Destiny City has a lot of unnatural deaths, but the large population seems to lessen the impact of how many deaths are actually occurring per day.

Destiny City is thriving and is considered a fairly progressive location. Same-Sex Marriage is legal. You must be at least sixteen to drive, eighteen to purchase cigarettes, and twenty one to purchase alcohol, but marijuana is legal (as long as you use responsibly and go through appropriate legal channels!).

The rules for Destiny City generally adhere to reality, but players may be able to get approval for outliers by sending in a PM to the shop mule, The Space Cauldron, detailing the plot/background in mind, as well as the player expressing that they have done solid research and understand what they are asking. For example, child labor laws might prevent anyone under fourteen from working a legal job, but if the player was aware of child labor laws and knew that this would be illegal/could cause trouble down the line and was prepared to work with the shop to find out what was acceptable, the shop might be able to work with them. Generally, players are asked to research things (such as child labor laws, medical access, public school practicum, adoption, civil rights, etc.) and make a judgment call on if there is some way it could be worked into the shop environment. If they intend to pursue any of these things in a capacity that is irregular or doesn't closely adhere to reality, we would ask that they contact the shop mule to discuss what they want and work out options.

Due to the high population and crime, there is a constant influx of police officers. DC Police have a 20 week training period at their police academy; when a station is hiring, if the candidate does not have police training but is a good fit, they will send them to training. The Academy will accept interested parties to fill remaining slots in the class as needed, but candidates that have the interest of stations/hiring prospects already laid out will always take priority. Classes cost 3.5k out of pocket but is paid for by the station hiring, or can be reimbursed after someone has a job in Destiny City. Applicants must be 18 to apply. Destiny City is known for being a little lax due to the necessity of police officers, and may overlook juvenile crimes and/or minor crimes with an otherwise good track record. While there are many good officers, there is a high level of corruption in many stations, either due to Negaverse influence or just due to the crime rate in the city/crime being more lucrative.

The District Attorney is an elected official in Destiny City. Because there is only one District Attorney in Destiny City, they are treated with the same rules as the Chief of Police, the Mayor, and other one-of-a-kind positions that can only be filled by one person. If a player has any questions about any important NPCs that exist in the city and would be known by the general public in the near future, please let us know! Presently there is no list of important figures within the community but at some point the shop may create one for general public use.

Destiny City has its own subway system, several power stations (both coal based, and more recently they have expanded to try and incorporate wind and solar powered energy) and some aerospace programs nearby. There is a military base only about an hour away. Destiny City is a cultural melting pot; there are still large ethnic neighborhoods, but the City is constantly expanding to fit the needs of its communities.

Destiny City does not have any breed specific legislation for dogs or other domestic animals, but it does have laws on keeping endangered and exotic species as pets outside of a zoo or legal recuse. While the city may not have laws on the matter, other private organizations, landlords, apartments, etc, may feel differently and have their own private rules on the matter. The State of Virginia allows each County, City, or Town to determine its own system in handling hybrid animals. Destiny City's laws require that if the person is aware that their pet is a hybrid with wild parents that the animal needs to be registered and an agreement signed that should anything happen, the owner of the animal held accountable for damages. An inspection is also included in this to deem that the owner is able to accommodate the needs of the breeds. However, should the animal be a mutt and adopted without knowledge of the ancestors, registration is not required unless the owner is made aware through tests provided by a licensed veterinarian.

Destiny City borders an expansive forest and there are nearby mountains for hiking. Though it is landlocked, it is about forty five minutes from the beach. Destiny City also has a man-made reservoir; more information about this can be found below.

Please assume that natural disasters (such as earthquakes, hurricanes, etc) should not affect Destiny City unless the shop makes an announcement. Generally players are free to use whatever weather you like (within reason); if they need a rainy day, or a sunny day, or a heat wave or cold front, to facilitate plots, players are free to write this into their roleplays provided it is not abnormal! It should not be snowing in Summer, for example!

Destiny City officials always have an excuse for the damage caused, and while you will hear reports about gang activity and terrorist attacks, the majority of damage caused between powered battles are given another reason. Common excuses for damage done in Destiny City include natural disasters (such as meteors, lightning strikes or bad storms), faulty wiring, poor construction, etc. Typically powered battles should not result in major destruction of local or city property (however if you have a plot and want to send it to the shop mule, you can probably get approval to do more damage!) Damaging or destroying small, player owned buildings or locations is fine (with player permission). Destruction of abandoned buildings is far more reasonable than destruction of a skyscraper!

Notable Locations

Destiny City has a number of notable locations that have either been featured in events or have been introduced to expand roleplay. These locations are considered shop owned and can be used as a backdrop for roleplay without any special permission. Players should not play any important NPCs associated with these locations (for example, any owner or director, or anyone in another one of a kind position) or describe the location in any detailed or explicit way that may be contradictory to information provided. This list will be updated as new locations are created. Player owned locations that are being made available for shop play are listed here.

Players can request shop owned locations to be added to this list if there is a particular backdrop they would like to see expanded upon. Any backdrop location that utilizes the name 'Destiny City' can be used as an assumed shop owned location; players that are designing their own locations will be asked to choose a name that is not "Destiny City [Establishment]" to ensure that there is no mistaken overlap, and that players are not accidentally treating a player owned location like a shop owned location with blanket permissions.

Requests can be sent to The Space Cauldron!

Destiny City's Notable Locations

    Destiny City Memorial Hospital

Destiny City Memorial Hospital (DCMH) is the largest hospital in Destiny City. It has some of the best doctors and surgeons in the area, and is always in a state of expansion to try and meet the growing needs of the community. They have several internships with the local colleges and always have open positions. If you are in need of medical aid, you need look no further than DCMH; it is consistently ranked one of the best hospitals in the area. If your character is a nurse, doctor, or other hospital staff member they can work at DCMH without staff permission. Try to be vague when referencing NPCs in specific roles (such as the owner, head doctors, or members on the board of directors). If you need specific information, please PM us!

DCMH is not available for destruction or massive damage; because of the violence and general crime in Destiny City, the Hospital will always be open!

    Destiny City Medical Center

Destiny City Medical Center (DCMH) is a state of the art hospital that had some misfortune and was bought out by the ‘Better World Solutions LLC’ company; as such, it is owned and operated by the Negaverse. Destiny City Medical Center is still fairly new, but it’s already received awards and accolades.

DCMC appears to be a standard hospital on the outside, however it operates as a primary care facility for all human members of the Negaverse. Members of the Negaverse can opt into the system and can visit DCMH for free care covered under the Negaverse at any point in time. This facility can be used for any health related issue, from checkups, to emergency care, to rehabilitation or advanced disease care. There is a developing center for mental health treatment, and a small unit for dentistry and another for optometry; the wait to get into these can be a bit long but Negaverse characters will always get priority treatment over the rest of the general population.

While it is optional to have access to this treatment, ICly it is an easy process to apply to; Corrupted Senshi and Negaverse Officers just need to supply some personal information to get themselves set up in the system; any treatment they get while in the hospital will be automatically billed to an account funded by the Negaverse.

There are designated wards where select youma may be hidden to discreetly drain energy, and terminal patients may have their starseed pulled to ease their suffering. The Negaverse is very discrete in this process and there is no reason to suspect that Destiny City Medical Center is anything but a highly successful hospital.

    Destiny City Reservoir

Destiny City has installed a Reservoir for the public to use, only five minutes outside of the eastern side of town. Previously only a relatively inaccessible lake, Destiny City has modified the lake's shoreline to mimic sandy ocean beach fronts. The sand is an interesting attraction, and makes an odd squeaking sound when walked on.

The reservoir is the perfect location for bonfires, picnics, parties, and sand castles. The water is cool and clear and full of fresh water fish.

Nearby are a set of caves. Some of these connect back to the lake, but others rapidly plunge into darkness. Within the caves exists a rare species of glowing caterpillars. Destiny City is supposedly doing research on them, but if they are taken out of the cave they shrivel up immediately. There doesn't appear to be any public information about them, but they make for a beautiful scene. In the dark, they look like little, glowing, pastel lights.

There have also been rumors that there's some strange forest monster lurking in the area, but this has never been proven and may just be a hoax or prank.

    Destiny City Schools

Destiny City has an array of schools that can be utilized by players. Players are also free to have their characters be home schooled, or in small private schools that they have more control in operating. Information on individual schools can be found below, and include Elementary and Middle Schools like Knightside Elementary, High Schools like Meadowview High School, Crystal Academy, St Magdalena’s Seminary, Azure Valley Academy, and Hillworth Grammar School, Specialized Schools like Romano's Constitutional Haven and Horizon Institute for Technology and Science, and Post Secondary Schools such as Sovereign Heights Preparatory School and Destiny City University.

Non University Schools in Destiny City are all in session from September 15th to June 15th, but all schools have vacations that are typically given for all Federal US Holidays. They have two weeks of winter vacation and one week of spring vacation. Graduation ceremonies can take place in the Winter for some universities; these will occur around December 15th. Graduation from all other schools ends with the school year and will be held some weekend in June or early July. For schools that allow boarding, there are usually summer programs that allow students to live on campus and further their education. All schools begin and end their day at slightly different times; unless otherwise stated, the earliest grade school will begin at 6:00am and the latest will get out at 4:00pm. This is somewhat flexible and left vague to accommodate players, so players can handwave this a bit as needed to fit the needs of their RP.

The grade schools are generally set up to accommodate a large number of students, so there are likely upwards of 3500 students in Meadowview and the population of the other high schools is probably between 2500-3000 students. The colleges probably have closer to fifty thousand.

We offer a lot of freedom in what our schools teach, and leave a lot of room for our players to puppet the curriculum in small ways if it benefits their roleplay experience. We ask that people make good judgment calls when choosing classes; for example, there would not be a class on bomb-making, but there might be a class on gardening. All schools can have traditional tutoring programs or mentorship if players want to plot for it.

Similarly the schools can also be assumed to have clubs. Players can reference a club their character attends or runs, but their club should not be advertised as 'the first' or 'the best' of any club. Some schools (like Meadowview) are far more encouraging of student clubs. Schools like Hillworth want to crush individuality and would likely not approve much of anything, but this could be a privately run club through the school, or--with good argument--there might be a teacher willing to sponsor the club. Generally the IC requirements for setting up a club will differ from school to school, but they will all require a registration form for administration approval and will generally also require sponsorship from a teacher. Players can also PM the mule for more specific approval!

All schools with on campus-boarding have two students per room, with the exception of Romano's, which has six students per room. Romano's has a much larger barrack styled room but the students are placed in close quarters to encourage camaraderie. All other schools have traditional dormitories, though the better schools will come with larger rooms and better utilities. All roomates will be typically be same-sex, however co-ed schools may have male or female neighbors. If your pockets are particularly deep, you might be able to secure a single room in some of the more high class schools.

Schools designated as girls only or boys only will accept trans students as long as they present as the gender the school caters to. Azure and Crystal are the most suited to accommodating trans individuals and would do what they could to ensure that everyone was provided a safe and fair learning environment; these two schools would offer private bathrooms and housing but would otherwise attempt to make sure trans individuals were treated the same as any other student. They will accept non-binary students but all students are expected to follow dress code.

It might be a bit more dangerous to attempt to enroll at Hillsworth or St Mags given the students that are usually enrolled and the structure of those establishments, however players are still welcome to explore this if they choose to, and can PM The Space Cauldron if they have specific questions.

    Barren Pines College (Closed)

Barren Pines College for the Gifted was a mysterious high school that seemed to appear out of nowhere. It had a beautiful new campus and was a boarding school aimed at gifted pupils. It was hailed as having top-notch teachers and incredible facilities. Students accepted into the school were given entirely free rides—everything was bought and paid for, including board! It seemed too good to be true—and it was.

Shortly after Barren Pines opened, tragedy struck and many young lives were lost. There were claims of tuberculosis and the official rumor is that it was actually a cover for an underground organ ring, but no official report was ever conclusively written.

Barren Pines burned to the ground and now sits in ruins atop a hill on the distant outskirts of Destiny City. A few security guards patrol the hill but even they know to stay away; Barren Pines is off limits to the general public.

This location is said to be haunted, and sometimes strange sounds or shadows are reported. It is very dangerous to actually access the area, which appears to be a hot spot for strange activities. People have been said to go missing here, and there have been more than a few bodies that have been found here. The area is regularly patrolled by officers. While the ruins of Barren Pines can be visited, players should request permission from the mule before doing so for consistency's sake and to make sure the shop can adequately monitor the location. Due to its previous meta relations, we just want to maintain consistency and keep an eye on the location in case it is ever used for future shop events.

    Other Schools

While the above schools are the common schools available for everyone to use, players can also attend a private school of their choice. They may also attend a trade school, have gotten their GED, have dropped out, had schooling outside of Destiny City, or might have been homeschooled. While there should be no other large public schools, players can customize smaller, privately run schools as need be! These schools might not necessarily follow the same rules that the other Destiny City schools do.

Destiny City Schools: Elementary and Middle Schools

KNIGHTSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Elementary and Middle School, co-ed)

    User Image
Knightside Elementary is the primary elementary and middle school of Destiny City. Typically boys and girls ages 6-13 attend Knightside, enjoying the well-rounded curriculum. The faculty understands that these children are the future and strive to provide them with a rich, pleasant understanding of the world around them. Field trips both around and outside of Destiny City are not uncommon. The children are exposed to real career choices early on, and are given the means to prepare themselves for future schooling. Knightside focuses on education, creativity, and exercise. Knightside has state of the art teaching methods and is often the testing ground for new educational plans. While Knightside does not have competitive sports teams, they sponsor several independently formed teams. To teach responsibility, every classroom has a class pet the students help take care of. Knightside also has several after school programs to facilitate higher learning.

Destiny City Schools: High Schools

MEADOWVIEW HIGH SCHOOL (High School, co-ed)

User ImageMeadowview High School is the main local secondary school of Destiny City. It's a public school, set in a fenced enclosure within the city limits. Although the school maintains high standards, graffiti and other hooliganism is a problem on campus. However, Meadowview prides itself on school spirit, academics and sports, and maintains a rivalry that edges over to unfriendly with the Crystal Academy and friendly with Hillworth Grammar School. Rules are fairly soft at Meadowview and the students are allowed to express themselves more in terms of dress and how they wear the uniform. As long as you have the school mandated tops and bottoms, you're free to stylize to your heart's content!

Meadowview has an excellent basketball team and a great choir. A few scuffles and strange lights at night from its campus have given the school a bad rep, the teachers still try hard to help their large classes.

CRYSTAL ACADEMY FOR GIRLS (High School, girls only)

User ImageCrystal Academy for Girls (formerly known as Crystal Academy for Young Ladies of Quality) is located near the outskirts of city limits to ensure the students are as removed from the chaos of the inner city as possible. Crystal Academy has rigorous academic standards that are on-par with the best college preparatory schools in the country, but also focuses on improving conduct, manners, and sophistication. While it is traditionally a private school for the wealthy, the school also provides scholarships to exceptional young ladies, particularly those gifted enough to join their renown art, dance, and drama programs. Elitism and snobbery runs rampant in Crystal Academy, and then have a strong rivalry with Meadowview. They frequently compete in sports matches with Meadowview, and Crystal usually excels in equestrian, lacrosse, swimming and tennis.

Crystal girls have a strict dress code but they are encouraged to look their best—this means they are expected to come to class looking professional! Make sure you come to class with your uniform pressed, hair done, makeup applied, and accessories on point. You have a reputation to uphold, and you need to represent the school to the best of your ability!

Many of the Crystals girls board at the school, though some 'day girls' choose to live locally with their families. Stereotypes insist that Crystal girls look down on Meadowview girls (and boys), and certainly would not be caught dead with a Hillworth boy.

ST. MAGDALENA'S SEMINARY (High School, girls only)

User ImageLike every city, there are a few schools that have a religious bent, but none are so dedicated to the enrichment of troubled young women as St Magdalena’s Seminary. A secondary school located on the fringes of downtown, it’s adjoined to one of the oldest Catholic cathedrals in the city. The entire campus is ringed with rather sharp-looking wrought-iron fences that forebodingly protect its hallowed Gothic-styled buildings. The school is touted as a reform school for high school girls with behavioral problems, though it’s rumored that there are a few girls in there that have actual criminal records. For the most part, though, Magdalena’s is considered the place to head those sorts of problems off before they begin!

Its academic standards are about on-par with Meadowview’s, with a primary focus on general education and a secondary on helping individual students work out any psychological issues they may have. This often translates into a “therapy through work” philosophy, and indeed a chunk of each day is given over to domestic chores. While Mass is held every day at eight, the girls are permitted to skip this. They haven’t really got the grounds or room for any real sports teams, though one of the few they do have is a championship volleyball team. Their chamber choir has been butting heads with Meadowview’s chorus for quite some time now, taking their share of championships.

AZURE VALLEY ACADEMY (High School, boys only)

User ImageLocated on the northwestern outskirts of Destiny City is Azure Valley Academy for Boys, a more modern and recent boarding school that boasts swanky minimalist architecture, state-of-the-art technology and a lovely view of the Appalachian Mountains on clearer days. Regarded by many as a preparatory tech school for young aspiring scholars, scientists and engineers, this school’s curriculum is more often than not unexpectedly difficult and stressful for anyone who enters. However, forcing all those noses to the grindstone seems to produce the expected results: Azure Valley students are practically undefeated at the City Science Fair, and they can even hold their own in robotics competitions against university students!

Unless you’re looking for eccentric beats and catchy electronica, the musicians of Azure Valley are generally outperformed by those of other schools -- the focus on staying ahead with technology means that the band and orchestra classes are sort of lacking, and this also means their sports teams are similarly mediocre. Their track team has been decent in the past years, however, and their performance in golf will ensure that many of them will end up having loyal, dependable business partners. Azure Valley students (or “Valleyboys,” as they’re often called) sometimes possess an air of superiority very much like their Crystal Academy counterparts, even going so far as to turn up their noses at students from Meadowview.

HILLWORTH GRAMMAR SCHOOL (High School, boys only)

User ImageWell across the city from Meadowview lies Hillworth Grammar School, formerly known as Hillworth Grammar School For Boys From Broken Homes. Hillworth is a boarding school that takes in high-school boys from disadvantaged backgrounds or boys who have been expelled from other schools for bad or dangerous behaviour. It is run military-style with the boys (depending on age) living in slightly stark dormitories. You are not allowed to express much individuality at all—you must wear the uniform, and only the uniform, and keep your hair as professional as possible. At no time should you display any piercings, tattoos, or accessories. There are frequent dormitory checks to ensure you have not attempted to decorate. There is a strict no pets rule, and no guests are permitted in the dorms after 7pm. Hopefully you and your roommate get along.

Despite the highly polished discipline, the school still has a bad reputation for housing 'rabble', and certainly any self-expression or individuality is squashed from the boys when they try to show it.

They have a high academic and sports standard, often playing against Meadowview for games, and unexpectedly they too have an excellent orchestra. Hillworth is just a grim brick building on top of a hill surrounded by boring grey dormitories and a chain linked fence in the distance.

Destiny City Schools: Specialized Schools

ROMANO'S CONSTITUTIONAL HAVEN (High School, co-ed)

User Image

The Basics

Romano's Constitutional Haven (formally known as Romano's Constitutional Haven of Adept Optimistic Scholars, or informally known as 'Romano's' or 'The Haven') is a military-style high school located on the outskirts of the City. Secretly to the public, this school is completely run by the Negaverse, so operates a little differently than the other high schools of Destiny City. The campus is large and stretches for a while, and a few buildings speckle the field. There is an expansive obstacle course and training ground for physical education. The entire school is surrounded by trees, and there is only one clear way in or out.

As a military school, Romano's Constitutional Haven does not operate like the other high schools in Destiny City; its classes focus on physical training and main core classes. It does not have many recreational electives available as classes, and the ones that they do offer are designed to prepare you for adulthood or better your living. Romano's has a strict uniform that is expected to be followed with little customization. All students must have the basic issued shirt, and either the uniform standard pants or skirts. Students may elect to wear the optional school appointed items, including berets, gloves, jacket, and tights for characters wearing skirts.

Students can enroll or transfer into Romano's; it doesn't matter if they are an unpowered civilian, a member of a chaos faction, or a member of an order faction. However, players should keep in mind that ICly the faculty members are looking to recruit new members, so if your student isn't a Negaverse Agent and you don't want someone to approach them about joining then you are a little limited in what your character can do!

Schedule

At Romano's, you will be met with a strict Monday-Friday schedule. All students are required to live in the barracks styled dorms that the school provides. The barracks fit up to six same-sex students per room. As a student, your day can start as early as 6:00; weekly, students are rotated to take on different chores and encourage teamwork in different activities. Some students might be tasked with helping prepare breakfast, to be served at 7:00. When breakfast finishes at 7:30, Drill practice begins. Classes officially start at 8:00 and are in session until 11:00. From 11:00-12:00, students have mandatory chores.

They meet for lunch at noon, and classes resume at 13:00 and continues until 17:00. At 17:00 students will either attend Study Hall or tend to chores (such as prepare dinner). Dinner is served at 18:00 and should be finished by 19:00; after dinner, students have free time until light's out at 22:00.

Weekends do not follow this schedule! Students are free to go home on the weekends, and while the school hosts some optional classes, nothing is mandatory.

Courses:

    Classes at Romano's include:

Algebra, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, Debate, Economics & Personal Finance, English Composition, Foreign Language (Spanish, French, Sign Language), Geography, Geometry, Health & Nutrition, History (US, World, and Military), Journalism, Literature, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Speaking, JROTC, Sociology, Statistics, Technology, and Trigonometry.

Other classes may be offered as well, but these classes are specifically designed to create well-rounded and functioning members of society--and respectable, educated recruits.

Faculty & Staff

For an adult Negaverse agent to join the staff or faculty roster at Romano's, they will need to get IC permission from Joseph Romano/General King Lepidolite, who runs the school. This resume should be submitted to him, and he will conduct an interview before hiring anyone. This can be ICly handwaved, but everyone who has been hired at Romano's will have undergone this process.

One of the prerequisites to working at the school is that you must be a Negaverse officer! The entire faculty belongs to the Negaverse—specifically to ensure that the students are receiving proper guidance and are being taught lessons in accordance to Negaverse standards. While the core classes will not be tampered with, faculty members are expected to observe and interact with students to make sure they grow up with Negaverse appropriate ideals. Faculty members are expected to be discrete but help guide students into a proper mindset that makes them more willing to accept the Negaverse if it is offered to them.

Romano's doesn't hire just teachers! There are many job openings, included but not limited to teachers, substitute teachers, cafeteria workers, janitors, landscapers, technicians, librarians, counselors, bookkeepers, student aids, and tutors. All staff at Romano's are paid generously and receive health care. If you sign up to work at Romano's, you're pretty much accepting the Negaverse as your day job, too! You are expected to try your hardest and you will be held accountable for mistakes or shortcomings; gross infractions of the rules or incompetency in your position will result in termination from Romano's and might reflect poorly within the Negaverse, as well!

Faculty especially is expected to engage their students and participate in planning and running events for the weekends; staff members aren't always hands on with the students when performing their usual job duties, but they are invited to participate in excursions as well! Sometimes the school will host school wide weekend field trips, but teachers and staff are encouraged to run events for their classes or smaller groups of students. Sometimes, faculty will be expected to lead a group of students while providing aid to the community both during the school week or the weekend; aid to the community is typically provided in the form of trash cleanup and numerous volunteer programs.

Agents of the Negaverse can teach a class at Romano's even if they don't have a teaching degree, but they are expected to be proficient in the subject and be involved in obtaining relevant degrees. The Negaverse can falsify credentials, but the character must be capable of teaching it effectively. All teachers must be at least twenty one years old.

The fact that the teachers are Negaverse agents should not alter any of the lessons being taught. Lesson plans should always be 100% legitimate with factual information, and should never feature propaganda against the senshi. Focus on the war would draw attention to the school, especially if the staff clearly knew more than the average civilian is supposed to. Instead, this means that the faculty and staff are influential figures in the students' lives and have the ability to structure their student's understanding of the world around them. Teachers shouldn't be educating about the Senshi or Negaverse, but should focus on the importance of keeping the world safe, protecting what is important, respecting the order of command and your superiors, and helping students understand the importance of taking action if they see wrongdoing. They should teach general messages about behavior and taking action, such as those the Negaverse might teach to encourage loyalty, camaraderie, and obedience.

Players may propose subjects or classes for their characters to teach if they are not on the list already. However, any classes taught must be something the Negaverse could find useful. Romano's won't have a pottery class because pottery is not a skill they value in having a Negaverse agent—however, if you have a Negaverse character who owns a pottery studio, they can register with the school to teach classes off campus. Classes taught off campus are not required, but can count for a student's credits towards graduation (and transferring credits to College).

Elective Classes and Trips

Volunteering is a good way to get in good with the teachers or faculty, and students can also earn favor by participating in some of the weekend field trip the school provides. Field trips are not all fun and games; there is usually some life lesson or skilled learned, but it is designed to take some stress off!

If your Negaverse character wants to teach an 'elective' style class, they can; these classes can either be held weekdays between 18:30-21:30, to allow students time to get from campus to the classroom, or on the weekends when classes aren't in schedule. Students can earn credits towards an Advanced Degree by participating in Negaverse-sanctioned off campus classes.

While Romano's does not offer hobby-related electives on campus, it does have an approved list of establishments a student can attend in their free time. These approved establishments allow a student to participate in recreational hobbies while earning favor with the school and earning extra credits.

Players should contact the mule before hosting an elective class to get approval for their desired course, but anything that could reasonably be used towards a supplemental credit will generally be approved.

While there are no official clubs at Romano's, students might choose to hang out together and bond over certain like minded interests in their free time. They may even request a teacher help host a field trip or course catered to those interests, but Romano's will always keep the good of the Negaverse at the core values of lessons and trips.

For a teacher or faculty member to run a weekend event, the player will need to PM the shop mule, The Space Cauldron, with the faculty or staff member intending to host the event, as well as a description of the event itself. While the school typically focuses on events that can teach the students or improve a skill, this is also a time for stress relief. Events can OOCly run for as long as they need to, but ICly should be planned to run on the weekends. Common daytime excursions might include trips to the museum, to sports games, or to local events. Some field trips might last all weekend—such as a weekend of camping in the mountains, or a trip to the beach.

Student Expectations

A student's chores are rotated weekly, so while they might be tasked with preparing breakfast one week, they might be tasked with laundry the next. Some common chores include: cleaning classrooms, tending the lawn, preparing meals, doing laundry, or aiding teachers. Chores are meant to teach basic skills as well as ensure that students are learning to work as a team. Chores cycle weekly, however characters with extreme aversions to certain tasks may be exempt. A player may chose what chores their character has if it comes up in roleplay. No character would be exempt from all chores and would still be expected to pull their weight.

All students are expected to maintain a 3.5 GPA; if they fall below this threshold they will have one semester to raise their grade, and they will have access to student tutors and private lessons with the staff. Physical education is as important as anything else taught in the classroom and there are some classes devoted strictly to physical improvement; students are kept in top shape and are taught healthy lifestyles. Romano's Constitutional Haven has the luxuries of a private school, but the strict structure of the military—and admittance requires a resume. Romano's covers the cost of all students who are accepted. Students who fail to meet minimum GPA, physical expectations, or have poor, uncorrectable attitudes will be expelled.

Graduation

The average student, unless they receive perfect marks in nearly every course, is expected to earn a Diploma, however by enrolling in extra classes outside the normal curriculum, a student can also earn an Advanced Diploma. Advanced classes are available to students who excel. Successful completion of courses at Romano's (and upon passing a set of standardized tests before graduation) means that a student with a basic Diploma may enter college with a few transferable credits.

Students who earn an Advanced Diploma can enter college with four semesters' worth of completed credits. It is advised that students enroll in Romano's as early as possible to ensure the most success. If a student completes all courses but fails the graduation tests, they will have one month to prepare and retake the tests.

Players will choose if their student passes or fails their classes; a character can achieve perfect scores on everything, but this makes them almost guaranteed to be approached about joining the Negaverse. Players cannot say that their character is the top of the class, but they can say that their character excelled and passed all of their graduation exams. Characters can fail once (or twice) at player choice, but otherwise it is assumed all characters pass exams and classes.

Negaverse Influence and Intentions

Unbeknownst to the general public, Romano's was designed to scout for new Negaverse agents and to train those of school age currently existing in its ranks. While students do not have to be in the Negaverse to join, it is not advised to place your Order student in Romano's without considering a few things: the Negaverse is actively looking for new members to recruit, so if your character excels in class or has earned favor with the faculty, ICly the Negaverse would try to recruit you! OOCly we won't force your character to corrupt, but please be considerate of the rules for this school. The fact that this school is owned and run by the Negaverse should not ever be made public knowledge!

Negaverse characters who know about Romano's are not permitted to tell others that the school is a Negaverse front without express mule permission, and this will be granted rarely as, if this information got out, it would immediately compromise the identity of every faculty member by revealing them to others as Negaverse agents. It would be unfair to put everyone's character in this position, so only other chaos characters, or civilians that will never power up into order, will be eligible candidates to learn this and survive. Characters can suspect the Negaverse is in some way responsible for Romano's, but there is no obvious reason to suspect it. Romano's is run very carefully and the Negaverse has invested a lot of time and energy into ensuring that it has no visible affiliation with the school.

Characters who worked at the school and then purified would only remember that that they worked for the school, but they would not remember that it was Negaverse run.

Destiny City Schools: Specialized Schools

HORIZON INSTITUTE FOR TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE (Grades 7-12 with a College Bridge Program (up to Associate's degree), co-ed)

User ImageHorizon Institute for Technology and Science (HITS) is a state-of-the-art school close to the main campus of Destiny City University. It is the product of a city-wide initiative for greater focus on STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math – in the public school systems. Using money from a generous government grant, the school was constructed with massive science laboratories, computer labs with every possible gadget and software; it even has large multi-story classrooms for engineering projects ranging from building small robots to constructing transformers. The school is also home to the National High Magnetic Field Lab – a role that it shares with the neighboring university.

As a charter school, HITS accepts scholars through a lottery system, but is said to allow transfer students with extenuating circumstances off the books. Scholars at Horizon Institute do not live on-campus, but the school is open 24-hours to allow for round the clock researching. The school serves students from grades seven through twelve. It also has a bridge program where graduates can earn an Associate’s Degree up until age twenty. However, much of the staff at HITS is comprised of exemplary college students from DCU, visiting professors, professionals in STEM fields, and various teaching and research assistants. The mission of Horizon Institute is to be a “haven for scientific minds of all ages, shapes, and sizes.” There are no sports teams at HITS – not unless you count the chess club or academic decathletes.

Destiny City Schools: College Prep and Colleges

SOVEREIGN HEIGHTS PREPARATORY (Post High School/College Prep, co-ed)

User ImageSovereign Heights Preparatory School is a post-secondary institution for kids out of high school. It's a pre-college prep school that can give you a helpful dent in your first year of undergrad, giving you points that can be transferred. There are pros: it precludes the need to do massive university entrance exams, especially to go to the University of Destiny City (DCU). It gives you a chance before university to play with programs, though you generally enter Sovereign Heights with a 'major' in mind and on the strength of a subject recommendation. You can get a taste of dorm life or commuting, and it looks good on getting into pre-med and pre-law.

Destiny City has pumped a lot of money into the Sovereign Heights program, and scholarships and entrance are automatically offered to people who get certain marks at high school. You need to maintain a specific GPA (especially if you're on a scholarship) and you generally stay there for 1-3 years (minimum program is two semesters, maximum is six). It's not just for academics: its theater and arts programs are notoriously average, but it does have a good sports science and athletics faculty.

It's said that attending SHP prevents a lot of burn-out sustained by Crystal girls and Hillworth boys trying to cope with the freedoms of university life.

      DESTINY CITY UNIVERSITY (College, co-ed)

Destiny City University, DCU, is the go-to institute for furthering your career. The university has nearly every degree imaginable. DCU is constantly improving its curriculum and introducing new courses and degrees; it's hard to keep up in a city this large, but Destiny City is determined not only to keep up—but to surpass all expectations. The acceptance rate is surprisingly high at DCU and they have a vast number of scholarships available to their students. Generous funding has allowed continual growth; DCU has a few dorms, but there are numerous affordable apartment complexes in the area. DCU is no Ivy League school, but a degree from here will get your foot in the door.

DCU has no dress code and can be attended by anyone! DCU's mascot is the Dragon and their school colors are Purple and Silver.

Player Owned Locations

Destiny City can be used as a backdrop for any roleplay, but players have the opportunity to design more custom playspace for their roleplays. These locations mostly include businesses or locations their characters own or work at, or landmarks throughout the city, such as garages, parks, memorials, or entertainment venues. Players have complete control over these locations, and can open them up to use as backdrops for other players as well.

Shop owned locations that are being made available for shop play are listed here.

Any backdrop location that utilizes the name 'Destiny City' is assumed to be owned by the shop as a generic backdrop; players that are designing their own locations will be asked to choose a name that is not "Destiny City [Establishment]" to ensure that there is no mistaken overlap, and that players are not accidentally treating a player owned location like a shop owned location with blanket permissions. Players should not write personal writeups for any city owned building or other backdrop (such as City Hall), but they are free to design their own spaces and submit them to be logged here using the below code.

A few things to keep in mind:

    • Locations listed here may be shared to be used as a backdrop for others' roleplays. You will have the ability to give blanket permission for anyone to roleplay here without you (as long as it's within your parameters) or you can list the location here as a resource for others to know what is available.

    • There can be multiple storefronts or locations that share similar themes or merchandise; this does not mean it is intentional, and many locations are in play well before they are posted here so it is would be difficult to know exactly what is in play. Please just try to respect each other when there are similar ideas or overlap.

    • While you may create your own backdrop locations for personal plots and customization, you must name them something unique. You may create public locations, such as libraries, hospitals, schools, parks, etc., but these cannot be written to be better than, larger than, older than, etc. any of Destiny City's locations.

    • Please do not create locations that are labeled 'Destiny City [Establishment]'; we are reserving the use of 'Destiny City' locations for shop owned, background locations. This allows the shop to have control of nonspecific locations. If your character ever needs a generic location to be roleplayed in, the location can be referred to as 'Destiny City [Establishment]' (where "[Establishment]" is whatever location you need--for example, Destiny City Park). Think of 'Destiny City' as a generic brand name! The locations can be manipulated to suit your specific roleplay needs, as long as players aren't filling in information or playing one of a kind NPCs (such as the police chief of Destiny City Police Department).

To have a location added to Destiny City's Player Owned Locations log, please fill out the below form and PM it to the shop mule, The Space Cauldron!

Location Name: (The name of your shop/park/landmark, etc.)
Player: (Your Gaia Username)
Building/Setting and General Location: (A summary of what it may look like, or pictures if applicable, as well as information on where it is generally located--city outskirts? Downtown? Near any other notable locations or player owned locations?)
Building/Setting purpose: (What is the purpose of this location? Is it a shop selling merchandise, and if so, what? If it is a memorial, what/who is it memorializing? If it is a park, what statues or other features does it have? Just a general description of the purpose or intent of the location will suffice!)
General Information: (Is there any particular or odd time the shop is open? Does it have any noteworthy owner, either NPC or PC? Are there any notable employees, NPC or PC? If a shop, are they hiring/are you open to new hires or plotting regulars? Is there anything notable that visitors should be aware of?)
Usage: (Is there any special requirement to be able to play here? Are players allowed to use this location freely or do you require plot approval first? Do you want to invite the location for damage, or would you prefer people only visit if they can guarantee no damage or disruption? Any requirements or requests you have about others using this location should go here)
Last Updated: (If information about your location changes, it will be updated here; this is just to give players an idea of what locations might be more current. If you want to check in to confirm that locations and descriptions are still accurate, you can do so at your leisure!)
