Welcome to the Fallguard's first meta event! We have a killer in our midst, and we must find them before they continue their rampage.
The Hunt is a mixed roleplay/rng game wherein players are tasked with tracking down our villain. The game will begin at the scene of the crime, and move from place to place as the story progresses. The requirements to move on will be outlined at the beginning of each roll session.
There will be 2 raffle prizes to be won at the end. At this time, they will remain a secret as they tie into the story of this plot!
♠ ♠ ♠
Rules - Anyone can enter, including staff!
- You don't need to have a Fallguard member to participate. This means that passerby loners and other pack wolves can join in the hunt. However, berserkers will not be allowed to enter due to the nature of this event.
- While this is sort of an open role play event, you can choose to interact with others or keep your character to themselves. It's up to you! Either way, the entire group will all be moving forward together.
- You are welcome to role play as many characters as you'd like, but can only enter one character into each rng game that happens. Please be sure to mention at the beginning of the rolling post who that character will be for that session.
- Every post you make must have an rp response in it, including roll posts! What is your character doing? How are they reacting to what's happening around them?
- That said, there's no requirement for how long an rp response needs to be! I would prefer at least a paragraph, but again, that's not a requirement. Feel free to respond how you see fit, even if it's small.
- Feel free to rp outside of the rolling posts if you'd like! The rolling posts are required to participate in the games, but you can keep rping if you're in the middle of conversation or simply have more to rp in between each round.
- In order to enter for the prizes, you must participate in the rng events that will be happening. Everyone who participates in each rolling session will get a ticket. (i.e. if you participate in each round of the event, you'll get more tickets!) In addition to this, the person who rolled the winning number will not only be featured in the next story element, but will also get one additional ticket!
- If you decide you don't want one of these prizes, you're welcome to message me at any point. You're welcome to stay in the raffle until you've seen the prizes too, and if you get rolled but don't want them, I'll reroll a different winner. You will be forfeiting a prize though, so you won't be getting a new one in exchange!
- There is not an end time to this event. Rather, we will keep going until we've reached the end of our game. (as a note though, this is likely going to be a short event. So be sure to participate where you can!)
- If multiple people are equally close to my roll, they will both win. So say I rolled a 3, and two people rolled a 4 - they would both be considered winners. Same goes for if a 2 and 4 were rolled in this instance; they would both be considered winners of that round since they're equidistant to mine.
♠ ♠ ♠
Raffle List This list will get updated after each round of rolling is completed.
The clearing was loud with chatter. Those willing to hunt were here, ready to act, and Aragon could honestly say he was proud of his pack. Not that he really looked very happy right now as he stared out at the crowd. A couple of knights stood beside him, stone-faced and silent, and had he not also desired his silence, he might have tried making conversation with them.
As it was though, he had far more pressing concerns on his mind. He refused to let their prey get away. Whoever that berserker was, they were going to pay for what they had done.
Aragon stepped forward with a commanding bark and, steely eyed, he spoke, "We need to track this wolf down before their trail gets washed away with the next rainfall."
He paused to eye the group before him, before letting out a gruff bark, "This is the scene of the crime." His eyes burned as he stared down at the dried puddle of blood beside him, "The scuffle between our prey and one of our knights happened over yonder," a paw was outstretched to point out the disturbed ground a few paw steps away, "before they ran off into the trees."
He turned then and nodded to one of the knights beside him. They walked forward and dropped a tuft of black fur down, to which Aragon gestured towards. "Said knight managed to pull this from the fiend during the scuffle. Memorize it's color and it's scent."
The king cast one last look around him before letting out a gruff bark, "Find them, and make them wish they had not crossed our pack."
♠ ♠ ♠
Other story-related notes: - The scene of the crime is along the border of the pack lands. It's entirely plausible that a loner could be wandering by and decide to help! (just don't forget that berserkers would be chased off if they tried to come near right now) - Maske is still unconscious and no other visitors have been allowed to see her. Whether she'll pull through is still unknown. She has been on multiple ventures too, and you're free to say your wolf knows her, if you so choose. - It can be assumed that allies of the pack have been notified of what has occurred as well. So it's entirely plausible that members of those packs would come to help.

Hunt down clues to track down the attacker! Throughout this event, I will be posting prompts that lead the group from place to place.
The king has given you all a task - find the would-be-killer. But where to start? Can anyone find any clues?
♠ ♠ ♠
Here is our first round of rolls! I've rolled 17!
To participate in this round, everyone must roll a number between 1 and 30. You can only roll once in this round. The person who rolls the closest to me will find the trail and receive an additional ticket on top of the participation one.
I will be keeping this part open until Friday (Sept. 4) at 4:00pm PST or until we have at least two players participating (i.e. if we don't have enough people before the previous time mark, I will keep it open until we do), after which I will announce the closest player and move on to the next area of the game.

Eve had wandered into the area on the tail end of the Fishing season, and had heard tell that there was someone injured and the culprit was being sought after. That a female lay unwaking because she had been accosted.
While Eve knew Berserkers were not welcome in the territory, and had been quick to move from it, she knew a female Wolfdog who was traveling alone that might find answers to her own questions in participating in the hunt, so she found her scent, and inevitably it came to pass that Twillie was in the clearing amidst so many others who were... like her.
Twillie came forward to partake, to help hunt down the wolf who had done this terrible thing, and to bring justice to the female who was now hovering between life and Death's claws, she of course hoped it was not yet too late, and that maybe, just maybe, she could still be saved.
The worst part for Twillie was not knowing if she'd crossed Maske's path in the past - she knew that she'd had a life before the night she'd woken bleeding and in pain with no memory of who she was. Her path crossed Aragorn's and she caught his scent - but there was so many other scents and such an overwhelming cacophany of sound that her muddled mind couldn't bring to the forefront any familiarity.
Her head lowered to the ground and she sniffed, trying to find a smell that stood apart from the rest.

Silke.. oh how to respond to this whole mess. She didn't need to hear a lot, didn't need to know a lot. All SHE needed was to know that this attacker had hurt her precious Einarr and his beloved family. Nobody was allowed to do that, nobody was allowed to make her love hurt. She could only imagine the pain he was in, not knowing if his mother would awake the next morning..
So, of course, she had been all ready to go and do her best to find and happily end the life of this wretched beast of a wolf.

[Alobar will be rolling to search!! Margerye is staying behind.]
Despite a riling sense of excitement and a surge of adrenaline, Alobar stood as still (and as tense) as stone, listening with the sort of stoicism that betrayed his youth. Behind him stood his mother, Margerye, who had left Maske in the hands of capable clergy wolves to hear what Aragon had to say and, more than likely, see her children off. Her eyes held fatigue, worry, doubt, and anger… but most of what filled that chocolate brown gaze was the back of her son’s head.
Maske’s wounds were dire, her situation critical, and certainly all paws would surely be necessary to ensure her survival, but she was also as much a lesson as she was a martyr. Family was everything to Margerye, and she’d be damned if she let her children go off to potentially suffer a similar fate or worse, without saying goodbye.
For a brief moment her attention went in search of Etorne, her rock, only to find Aldusa first. The breath she hitched and the clenching of her jaws were all subtle enough to go unnoticed…
Alobar was eager. His body language read that of a warrior ready to test his mettle and, under more scrutinous eyes, a young man desperate for a fight. He was a tactician but also headstrong. A stubborn warrior, making persistence easy but surrender near impossible… It was a good thing that Aldusa took point somewhere in the mix. Her safety was important to Alobar, and thus it grounded him; much to his mother’s relief.
His mother… he could feel her eyes on him and with them the weight of worry. It was part of the reason why he didn’t look for her when Aragon gave the order and the lot dispersed in search of clues. He would glance, briefly, passingly, towards his parents to search for his father…
The only one, besides himself, he wouldn’t mind making proud.

Gold Rush had been on one of her adventures. She was always searching high and low for treasures untold. She would travel to great lengths to get her paws on some shiny loot. As she padded along, the atmosphere began to change. She couldn’t place the feeling, but something seemed off. She continued ahead though, not looking back.
She had been passing between pack borders, when she came across members of Fallguard raising a commotion. It seemed they were about to set out on a hunt. Someone had been attacked. Her eyes were full of concern, when she heard the details. The fact that a berserker had ventured in and mauled someone, was unsettling. Since she had nothing better to do, and she sincerely wanted to help catch the culprit, she decided to offer her services.
She may not look like much, but she was a scrappy fighter. If Fallguard would have her, she would gladly assist. She memorized the scent and appearance of the patch of fur as ordered, before she turned to the others who were gathered. When they began to move out, she walked over to join them. She gave those remaining behind one last look, almost as if to say ‘be careful while we’re gone’.

[Roll for Aldusa here. Etorne is here, with his lifemate Margerye, to see their children off.]
A chill had rolled along her spine when the howl first sounded and that same chill continued to persist for quite some time afterwards. It had alerted the very core of her being and a moment passed before she realized she had been holding her breath.
"Breathe" Aldusa scolded herself, they had gone through strenuous training and even if in the moment she didn't feel like it, they were prepared.
Quickly she collected herself and left as the pack had been called to present themselves before Aragon. Upon arriving in the clearing she was proud and relieved by the number of others that were already present. Immediately she began to search for familiar faces among the crowd and fortunately for her the faces she sought, at least two of them, were already present. Fluidly she moved through the crowd towards her brother and mother, all the while wearing a quizzical look on her face - where was her father?
"Hey, have you seen-" Aldusa didn't bother to complete the sentence. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted the very wolf she had been about to ask after. "Nevermind." She said quietly and felt the corners of her mouth pull up in a smile. These were not happy times, but there was something about being surrounded by family that left her feeling at peace.
In that peace she found her heart hammering. Adrenaline was still coursing through her and simply standing suddenly made her feel stiff. Naturally she shuffled slightly, lifting her legs one at a time to give them a slight shake. Aldusa turned her gaze to Alobar, getting a read of him. She knew his tendencies, behaviors, and in a way the duo completed one another.
Etorne had approached his family silently and took up his place next Margerye. He was worn with worry over what had happened and overcome with a sense of unease about their children. The two of them had been trained and he believed in them, very much in the same way all parents do. In times like these he found himself dwelling on his own physical in-capabilities.
[Don't mind me, I'm shaking off some rust/dust, all of the above.]

((Rolling for Einarr, Sága is staying behind.))
Einarr had never felt so useless in his life. So enamored with his precious Silke that he hadn't been paying attention to the other she-wolves in his life: his sister and mother. Skuld was unharmed, but Maske... Oh god, her face... No one knew if she was going to pull through, but he had to convince himself that she would. His mother, who had such a spirit as to raise two pups with a stranger, his mother, fiery in color and poised. He thought so highly of her, had always cared for her and vowed to protect her when he was younger... And now look at him.
He was shaking like a withered leaf in the breeze. His eyes had been fixed on Aragon, their king. The attack against his mother had shaken Aragon nearly has much as it had Einarr, thought the younger knight, but their king was pushing through. Giving orders. Being noble.
Einarr almost wanted to stay behind, nestled right against his mother's side. If she passed... he wanted to be right there with her, but... He was a Knight, the protector of the pack... Or he was supposed to be. He had to avenge her, scary as it was. Scarier still was when Silke had volunteered to join them. Not trained in battle so much as wit, he couldn't stay behind when his mate was going after his mother's attacker.
So, he took a deep, shaky breath and moved to stand beside his mate. He would be brave for her and he would be brave for his mother and the king. They would end this vile creature, avenge his mother and protect the Fallguard. It was their quest, after all.
Sága had been thoroughly shaken when Maske was brought back, so dreadfully injured. The first time she'd seen her, she'd ran off to empty herself of her last meal. After the other Clergys had fixed her up how they could, she returned. She knew she didn't have much claim to being there, she wasn't family like Skuld or Einarr, but Sága cared for Maske. She often regarded Maske as a rival, for their colors were similar and Sága wasn't subtle in her affections for the current King.
Sometimes she would wish that Maske had left the pack to be with the dire wolf that she'd had pups with, so that Sága could have a better chance of wooing Aragon. Now however, Sága would do anything to see Maske come back to full health. Even if she lived, would she ever be the same after her encounter?
So, she remained at Maske's side, only moving when the other three Clergy's bade her to. She didn't want to interrupt their work if they could help heal the foxy she-wolf's wounds faster, but she would however nearby throughout. That's what friends, rivals or otherwise, ought to do for one another and Sága was determined to do that for Maske.

Régnier was not unflappable. But, he certainly wasn't emotional. Not one to break composure but to boast about himself, he knew it was an issue that his mind was wandering while Aragon barked brief and serious orders at those who managed to gather in the wake of the brutal attack on Maske.
He hadn't personally seen anything, but the dried puddle of blood on the ground and the stark look on Einarr's face said it all: this was dire. Of course the attacker had been a berserker - Régnier liked to think that the pack was vigilant and tough enough to hold their own against other wolves, but some berserkers were just... beyond comprehension in their individual fury and will. It didn't surprise the male wolf one bit. But it did give him cause to bristle.
Keeping his face stone cold, Régnier realized Aragon had sent them off when the crowd started to murmur to one another and break up. The job was simple: find and brutalize the pig that did this. No one messed with the Fallguard, and Régnier intended to be the one to see this mission through.

It wasn't hard to hear the chatter that was so loud in the area that Viviana had ended up in. She was curious and when she figured out what was going on she wanted to help out. She wasn't sure if her help would be welcome but she hoped it would be. She was rather curious what this group was like. She frowned at the puddle of blood wondering why anyone would attack a wolf-dog like this. Then again they were smaller then dire wolves and berserkers easy to bully. Which was the reason that Viviana trained herself to be fast and agile. She wanted whatever edge she could get against the larger creatures in the land.

Hel stood at attention in the group, though her paws itched to move. This was exciting! Sad, but exciting! They were going to track down a killer and bring them to justice! She just had to focus, not get distracted....
Easier said than done. But the tone of the others around her kept her ears pricked forward and her eyes intent on Aragon, and when it was her turn to inspect the fur she took a hearty sniff. Oh yeah, this killer wasn’t getting away if she had anything to say about it!
She set to work immediately, putting her nose to the ground to sniff. She’d hunted monsters before, surely she could hunt a regular old murderer, right?

A set of brown ears twitched, listening, within the confines of a bush at the back of the gathering. While he was not really sure what this gathering was about, but it sure sounded interesting. A pair of amber colored eyes peered out through the branches at the larger Wolfdog that was apparently the leader of this gathering. They were backed by a couple others and then there was the growing crowd. Head tilting to one side, Beowulf wondered what had really happened. He watched as one of those that was behind the speaker stepped forward and dropped something on the ground. It looked like a hunk of black fur?
This was curious, fur? From the buzz that was going through the masses, it seemed that someone had been attacked? This was a piece of the attacker and they were going to look for them? Well that sounded like jolly fun, with a flick of his stripped tail, a couple of the branches, but from the sound it could easily be drown out. Buuuut, just to be safe and he wouldn't be attacked as it seemed tension was thick. Poking his head from his hiding place, Beowulf watched for reactions, though it seemed that everyone else was going off to hunt for clues? Well, he could do the same, right?

Hel found the trail!
Her trusty nose didn't prove her wrong. The scent led further into the trees where a trail of blood could be found. Unfortunately, it looks like it may be leading towards the nearby lake. If their prey managed to wash away their scent, this hunt would be over before it had even begun. They would need to follow it quickly.
Time to move to the lake...
