Chase was surprised at the ability of the raven to gather ingredients and follow his saviors requests. Especially when it brought her a pair of eggs to apparently be cooked, leading Chase to two lines of questions. 'I wonder, does it realize the eggs have no baby birds in them?' Was his first thought to himself. It would make sense as to why it seemed to willing to bring eggs to be broken and cooked, with no baby chicks appearing. And for it to do this with just words, it must have done this at least a few times before. Perhaps it merely didn't recognize it as its own eggs, and thinking it may be a rival bird's, it had no qualms about them being destroyed and killed if it thought there were some in there. He had read some birds were like that, doing so to improve their own offspring's survival. 'Or perhaps i'm thinking way too much into this.' He thought to himself. It was easy to allow imagination to take flight, but the simplest answer was usually the truth. It probably was just trained to do so, and not recognizing it as its own eggs, it would readily do this. He also wondered what incentive she gave the bird in order to be trained to do this task. As his eyes were watching the two, he noticed her pet its head and say something he couldn't hear before the raven responded, rather loudly, with a high pitched welcome. His eyes widened as his gaze on the bird intensified slightly, and he leaned back in his seat a bit. 'The bird can speak...' He thought to himself. He admittedly knew little about ravens, despite their general appearance, and so had not expected it to be a bird capable of speaking. Most times when they were depicted in movies they only cawed.
It would then suddenly take off and fly to a hanging ring perch, its eyes traveling to Chase. Despite knowing it was only a bird, he found himself a little intimidated as he looked into its eyes. It was almost as if it was studying him while he was studying it. 'Was this bird intelligent?' He wondered to himself, not quite knowing if he wanted to know the answer to that. He always liked how ravens looked, but seeing this one be capable of so much was slightly worrying for him. It could be like his own hound, which he found to be relatively intelligent. He doubted it was as intelligent as him, but it was not a dumb animal in the slightest. So, the same may be said for the bird...He would have to read it up later. Slowly though, as he heard the woman who pretty much insisted he stay at her place cook, his fear and apprehension would fade as he continued to look at the raven. It had a dark foreboding look to them, but this one also looked rather nice. He wondered if it too was treated like he was, if it shared the same treatment. 'Perhaps we aren't so different...' He thought to himself. It may just exclusively be the feeling of being unwanted by most others that the thought came to his mind. His minds traveled back to his hound, left alone in his room. The only solace of the thought was that he was safe. Then thoughts went back to his sisters and mother...Of the life he had before his father. Of how he'd never see them again. A lone tear appeared in his eyes, quickly being brushed away as soon as it appeared. 'Stop. Thinking. Focus on something else.' Part of him said. If he focused on it he would be weak. Weak with a stranger. He couldn't have that, couldn't risk it. Not now, or ever. Or so that part of him said, and he took heed of it. Even if she saved him, he still barely knew her. This world was apathetic and blind, so he doubted anyone would care how he felt.
It was not long after, Chase's eyes having gone downcast again, that he heard the woman say the food was ready. His gaze just barely traveled up to meet hers before she turned back to the food and put everything on a plate before taking it over to a table and setting it down. Chase wasn't sure if he should get up, or move, as he felt her gaze on him. He wondered what thoughts were going through her mind, whether it boded good or ill for him. Wondered whether she was studying him the the raven seemed to be doing. His gaze would remain meek, not making eye contact with her. 'If only I had the will to speak, to ask...if only that mattered...' He thought to himself. He didn't know what he was expected to do, to get up now or wait for her to tell him. It was then though that he heard a buzzing, and seeing her sigh before answering and walking away to the kitchen. It seems her attention was taken off him temporarily, giving him some reprieve. With the stress fading, the smell of food was suddenly being registered by him. It smelled good...He hadn't eaten before he left. He had intended to eat dinner once he returned...and he could feel his hunger acutely now. Giving a nervous glance to her and seeing her still busy on her phone, he tried to rise as silently as he could from his seat and walk over to the table. He didn't know if he was allowed to or not, and didn't want to disturb her, hence his trying to be quiet about it. Going over to where the plate was set, he would see it was simply scrambled eggs and toast. He would move the seat slightly to sit, going as slowly as he could because he knew such an act could be loud. It let out a soft creak nonetheless, causing him to wince at the noise before looking back at the woman and seeing her still talking.
Looking at the plate...he was about to eat but noticed there was no silverware. Glancing across the table he did not see any either...He shrunk in on himself as he could hear her phone call still going. He didn't want to ask her for it, but he also didn't want to eat without it. His gaze would remain focused on the plate, trying not to draw her attention despite not eating yet. Because there was no longer the sound of cooking, he could just faintly make out a few words that she spoke on her call. 'Mob...Clinic...John.' He wondered what it all meant, what it all could mean. His more paranoid side was saying she was going to drug him with the food and ransom him to whoever this john was. His more logical side was saying she would not have gone through so much trouble to take him in conscious and let the crowd incapacitate him for her if she wanted to do that. And his more emotional guilty side thought maybe she was in trouble somehow for saving him because of whatever she did to stop the crowd so they could getaway. He would finally muster enough will to glance at her, seeing her leaning against the counter with her phone call apparently done. His eyes immediately shot back to his plate afterwards. He didn't want her to think he was staring again. He felt his stomach growl again, wincing and visibly stiffening as his stomach made the sound. For one, he didn't know if he could eat yet. When he ate with his family, everyone ate at once. And two, he was used to eating with silverware. He rarely used his hands for things, and right now a fork along with a knife would be very useful. Cleanliness and etiquette at the table were things he was taught.

The raven continued to stare for a little bit at the young man that currently occupied her home. Though it showed no signs of hostility or dislike of the young man, it did appear to be contemplating. When her mistress left to talk to the one it knew as "Dumb-dumb". It seemed to hum before speak."Stop that,"It said after the boy would look down before following him to the other perch in the corner; a tall chestnut-colored bird perch. Watching his internal struggle, the bird would look from plate to Drac and back before flying away.
The raven's mistress would watch quietly as she continued her conversation, watching as it would open the drawer and take silverware. With a sigh, the young woman would walk over and close it absently as she talked. The raven would then fly back to the table."Fork,"Freya said as she set it by the boy."Eat up,"It ordered once it was back on her perch, pruning her feathers while he would choose to eat or not.
Dracaena would quietly start to toast bread in her toaster for a minute, prepping the peanut butter as she waited during the lecture before saying their goodbyes before spreading peanut butter on her toast. She was then cleaning up her mess, butter knife in the sink, toast on a napkin before walking over to the table."Sorry about that,"his hostess would say apologetically."Hm, it would seem he is eating at least, that's good."She noted, pleased he had a good appetite at least,"Well-mannered eating as well."She quietly took bites of her toast as she made mental diagnoses; chewing quietly with her mouth closed. Once she swallowed, she would speak."How are you feeling?"She had not heard him speak and didn't wish to rush him. But since he appeared to be feeling better, maybe he would talk?

Chase was silently shaken up a bit as he felt the bird eyes on him after he heard it speak a little earlier. He hadn't expected it to say stop that when he had been gazing down at the ground earlier. While he was still surprised to hear the bird speak, he wondered why it wasn't letting him be in peace. Even now, long after it had said the words, he could feel its eyes still on him and wondered what it was thinking of doing next. He also truly wondered how intelligent the bird was at this point, because the words it had said seemed far from being random. It had even flown to a different perch, as Chase had now noticed there were many in the corners of the room, as if to follow after and keep an eye on him. 'Is the bird the jailer and the woman the warden?' He thought to himself briefly. He still wasn't entirely sure if he was being held prisoner here or if she had only good intentions in mind for him. He was leaning towards the latter, but it didn't help that the former was usually the case for him.
He was broken from his thoughts as the raven suddenly took flight across the room. He visibly flinched and almost jumped in his seat, shrinking in on himself as it flew to the kitchen. His eyes remained glued to it, startled by its flight but also curious to its intention. The bird seemed to go straight for a drawer and opened it on its own, taking out some silverware and flying back to him. It would say fork, leaving a stunned Chase there are he saw the silverware in question on the table. 'The bird knew what I wanted...Can it read minds?' He wondered to himself, as illogical as that sounds. He was so surprised by how much this bird seemed to do, as even without any words by the woman as far as he could tell it went and got him what he had been wanting. A knife would've been nice as well...but he may have a heart attack if he saw it flying back to him holding the knife. So he felt that it was for the best that the raven didn't come at him like some serial killer. Still...He was shocked at what intelligence the bird must have to know what he had wanted to actually begin eating. 'Could it tell that I needed silverware just by my actions?' He questioned to himself as his gaze turned to the raven, still having not touched his food from everything that just happened.
He was snapped from his thoughts as he heard the say, no order, him to eat up. Eyes widening, he would look away from the raven and back at his food...Gingerly picking up the fork with his left hand as it shook slightly, before taking a deep breath to calm his nerves. The last thing he needed was to drop the fork and bring both the bird and lady's attention onto him. He would carefully and slowly skewer a few pieces of scrambled egg onto his fork, and deposit on one of the buttered toasts. Repeating this process several times until all the egg was on one of the slices of toast, before topping it with the other half. Gently placing the fork, now slightly dirty, onto the plate so it would not make a mess he would then pick up the sandwich with both hands and take a small bite out of the center of it before setting it back down. Grabbing a nearby napkin, he would clean his hands over his plate as he slowly and calmly chewed on the food he was eating. He would do this a few times, noticing from his peripheral that the woman seemed to be making some food for herself as well. What perplexed him though, as he continued eating, was that she paused to clean before eating as he noted the sandwich on a napkin. 'Why does she clean now before eating? Does it bother her to leave things unclean?...Should I go clean my fork now before continuing?' He wondered to himself, not knowing if she had special rules for eating in her house he was unaccustomed to.
He almost rose to put his own fork to wash now, but before he could muster the will to she seemed to be returning and taking a seat at the table to eat a sandwich of her own. Chase honestly had not expected her to join him in eating, having thought he would get away with some isolation in that manner. Though, oddly enough or perhaps not so due to her prior actions, he didn't feel entirely worried for his life or anything as she sat at the table with him. Normally he would be tempted just to move to a more isolated area, but thus far she had given him not reason to want to be impolite and leave the table just because she joined him there. She was his host at this point...and he didn't see anywhere else that was appropriate to eat at to even truly consider moving. He didn't want to make a mess after all. She would then apologize, causing Chase to pause momentarily in his eating with a slightly confused expression. 'Why is she apologizing?' He wondered to himself, as if anything he should be the one apologizing for having to be saved earlier. Or was it because she was about to reveal she was kidnapping him with her Raven accomplice...the fantasy of that thought fled his mind as soon as it appeared. Unless the food was drugged...but so far he felt fine so he doubted that had been the case. It was then that his mind would think on etiquette and manners as he think he realized why she said she was sorry. 'Was it because she had a call she had to take?' He thought to himself, seeming to be the simplest explanation and probably the answer. He would quickly swallow the bite he was eating and wave his hand in front of him in a 'no need' fashion, before putting them together and inclining his head slightly as a form of thank you. Seeing her go back to eating, he would follow suit and repeat his process of slowly eating his sandwich, being about halfway done at this point.
Chase was broken from this relative peace as he heard her ask how he was feeling. Eyes would widen slightly as they flickered over to her own briefly before focusing back on his sandwich as he slowly lowered it back to his plate. As he tried to finish the bite he was currently chewing on, he thought of how to respond. 'I don't know if a nod is a sufficient answer...and she has been nice to me so far. I think. She gave me food and a place to stay the night...because going out would be dangerous after earlier today...hmm...' He pondered to himself, slightly conflicted on what to do. He could pretend to chew for the next five minutes, but that would only make his nerves worse. He could try speaking, and if it didn't work he could just default to his usual silence...his voice wouldn't just spontaneously work right? He didn't know if he wanted it to or not honestly. As he finished chewing and finally swallowed, meek eyes would rise to look at the woman's own eyes before he would try to speak. "I'm.... I'm feeling better... Thank you." He would respond, the voice almost seeming foreign even to him at this point with how rarely he spoke. He almost stopped entirely after the first word, it had been a while since he had last spoken. The words were very soft spoken, but were far deeper than most would expect from him with how he looked. His eyes would drop back down after a few moments, and he would bow his head towards her before his eyes hesitantly arose again to look in her general direction but not making eye contact this time. He wasn't certain if he should have spoken at all and if it would've been better to remain silent, but whats done is done. He couldn't change it now.

Having replied to her question with a wave of his hands, she tilted her head slightly to the side, causing some of her fair locks to also slip to the side. She would then straighten to a proper posture once more as she would observe his responses; albeit not very well outside of medical deductions. Smiling ever-so-slightly to his bow, amused, but not wanting to laugh. Instead bowing her head in turn before returning to eating.
As the tall young man and his hostess ate in relative silence she would wait patiently for his response. She was honestly not expecting one in a hurry, nor was she expecting words from her previous interactions with him thus far. Blue-gray eyes widened, slightly impressed by the deepness of voice; she was expecting it to be a little higher if she were to be honest with herself. She quickly recovered though as he seemed to have the mentality of a child to her, as he met her eyes. The raven also tilted its head as if confused before going back to quietly watching the pair."Good, that is a relief,"She replied once he said he was feeling better."Strangeness of voice sounds like he doesn't use it often,"She noted to herself. When they finished their sandwiches, she would then stand calmly and casually walk over to take his plate and fork, setting her napkin on top so it'd be easier to throw away with the crumbs in the trash.
A thought crossed her mind as she would take the dishes to be rinsed before placing them in the dishwasher."I forgot to ask, would you want water or anything?"She inquired as she would turn her head, her blue-gray eyes looking over her shoulder at the boy."I can get it for you, but just this once,"She would tell him with a slight smile.
Her attention then turned to her raven pet as Freya would click her beak twice. Giggling softly, the woman in Lolita dress would take something from a jar and walk over to her pet. Offering her a small treat, Drac would nod slightly."Thank you Freya,"She said softly."How could I forget?"She thought, shaking her head at her forgetfulness."Thank you."Freya said before flying off to the balcony's perch."Forgive me...I didn't introduce myself before,"She said with a slight bow once she was facing him before straightening once more."I am Dr. Dracaena Lenz, but you may Ms. Lenz or Drac when off-duty,"She said, introducing herself at last.

Her words almost seemed strange to Chase's mind. 'Good, that is a relief.' He repeated in his head. He wondered why it was of relief to her, or why she thought it was good. Though, this time, his paranoid thoughts did not surface. The longer he had been in her presence, the more he had come to accept that her reasons probably were not malicious even though a part of him still distrusted her and had far darker thoughts than he did currently. He was mostly confused by the fact it sounded genuine than anything else, if maybe a bit observational more than emotional. As far as he knew thus far the only people concerned with his well being genuinely was what was left of his immediate family and his hound. Until he met this person at least. From saving him from doing something he would have regretted with the mob, to offering him shelter and even feeding him...It was more than he would expect from anyone else, more than he thought anyone would be capable of doing. As he was getting lost in his own thoughts again, he would notice her resume eating. Blinking a few times, his own gaze would shift back to what was left of his sandwich. He was nearly done, and it would be impolite to leave anything there. His host, as he now thought of her, would likely take it as him not liking her cooking. Plus, he was still a bit hungry despite the flurry of thoughts and emotions distracting him. He would resume eating in his own clean yet slow manner, enjoying the taste of it as he would smile faintly now as he ate, his mind slightly more at ease. It would be the only indication he would give he was enjoying the food though.
As he finished, not too far from the same time his host did despite him starting earlier, he would notice her calmly rise from her seat and stand. His head would tilt slightly to her, wondering what she would do next, and was surprised to see walk over to him. His nerves grew again, unused to being in close proximity with others even if it was a female, before he noticed her hands reach for his plate and fork, setting her napkin on top of the plate. He could feel his heart beating faster in being in such close proximity to her, before letting out a sigh when she walked away as he realized he had forgotten to breathe. His relief though was ruined by his own mind as another thought crossed it. 'She took my dishes for me...I should have done them myself.' He thought to himself. He didn't want to impose on her too much, didn't want everything to be done for him when he could help however little it was. But what was done was done, as she was already disposing of what crumbs remained on the plate and beginning to wash the dish and fork. Part of him wanted to say there was no need, that he could do it...but his voice froze and he didn't want to challenge her decision, thinking it would be taken as him challenging her. Even if it was the farthest thing from his mind or actions as his eyes would focus down to the ground yet again.
Her voice would disturb his self inflicted guilt as he heard her ask if he wanted water, his gaze temporarily rising up to hers as she had turned to ask, eyes slightly widened. He had not expected anymore question so soon, he wasn't used to it. His eyes would linger towards her for a moment, the crimson red of them fully visible as he thought of the request, before they flickered back to the ground. 'Do I impose more and ask for it...I am thirsty but...I...do I...?' He thought in his mind, already seeing her as having done more than enough for him so far with him doing nothing for her in return, comparatively. She had saved him, given him a place to stay the night, food, and now was offering water. He was not used to receiving anything from others, let alone so much. But he didn't know how to refuse or accept it even if he wanted to as of yet. His mind was torn between the two, not yet decided, and until it settled he could not speak. She would then add that she could get it for him, just this once and his gaze raised to give her his attention, even if he was super nervous, because it was the polite thing to do. She even smiled as she said it, breaking the seriousness he had been growing to expect from her a little bit. His eyes would remain focused on hers momentarily...before he would sheepishly nod his head yes in response with a grateful smile. 'If it was only this once I guess it is not so bad to accept...She may not offer it again. Plus...the smile makes me think she wanted to..?' He reasoned and questioned in his mind. If she didn't mind doing it, which the smile made him think so, then he was fine with accepting it.
It was then he heard the sound of something clicking, his head moving to his source, and his crimson eyes would come on the raven from earlier that he had admittedly lost focus of due to trying to be the remotest bit social as well as attentive to his host. Hearing his host giggle was another thing entirely too, he had honestly viewed her as far too mature and adult-like to be able to do such things. His gaze would flicker between bird and human, wondering what sort of communication had transpired between the two and what it meant. His host then seemed to grab someting from a jar and walked over to the raven, this time being able to hear her thank the bird since they were both relatively close to him and call it Freya before it thanked her in return and flew off to the balcony. 'Freya. Is that the ravens name then?...I wonder what it means.' He would silently think to himself, eyes trailing back to his host now that the bird was more out of the way than before. He was surprised to see her beginning to face him once more and ask for his forgiveness...which left him confused for a few moments before she added it was due to her not introducing herself. Chase was about to ask, internally of course, what could she possibly by sorry for after all she had done for him when she had answered it herself. It probably would help if he had a name to recognize her as, given he now knew the ravens as Freya. Or at least thought he knew, he could be wrong. She would then bow, and impressively, introduce herself as Dr. Dracaena Lenz, and that he could call her Ms. Lenz or Drac when she was off duty. His eyes would quite noticeably widen as she finished introducing herself. Not once did he think that the person who saved him had been a doctor. He hadn't quite heard her mentioning working at a clinic earlier, being part of the words he didn't quite catch. He didn't know what to do now honestly. Part of him felt like bowing to her in return, for someone with such a title deserved respect, while the other was silently cursing because he knew what came next. It was usually expected for the other person to answer with their own name. Which, if he had been honest, he was hoping he would not have to do this evening.
Still, a decision had to be reached as he was torn in half on which path to take. One part argued she gave it freely, and as such he was not required to answer her in return, to better protect himself because she had given her full name. The other side though believed it would be rude to do that to someone who had done so much for him. If he were to listen to the latter side, it meant he would also be expected to give his own last name. In the end, given he was staying the night, the latter half had won. He would slowly rise from his own seat, shaking slightly as he did. His eyes would focus on the ceiling for a moment, before he would squeeze his eyes tightly and take a deep breath...relaxing his eyes and tense stance as he exhaled before slowly opening his eyes as they would meet Ms. Lenz's eyes. Part of him surprised someone shorter than him could hold so much power and presence when compared to him, while the other half knew exactly why. He would give a formal bow to her, and speak once he had returned to full standing height. "I am Chase. Chase Limax-Sanguis. But...please...Just call me Chase." He would respond to her, being able to speak a full sentence now without pausing as much as before and his voice more so soft than anything, not daring to raise his voice to normal volume as of yet. His eyes were a little calmer than they were prior, and didn't immediately turn to the ground this time but rather held her own gaze. Even if they were not challenging in anyway what soever. He seemed to be lost in thought for a second before he quietly added something else to his own introduction. "Thank you Ms. Lenz. For helping me earlier and...All this." His eyes would briefly flicker across the room, not quite expecting this to be how his night would end but seeing it as far better than the alternative. Now that his introduction was done...He had only to wait. His identity was revealed, if she did not know it before. Part of him expected to be thrown into the streets, to be treated as violently as he had been earlier that night...But she deserved to at least know who he was, regardless of how she would react.

Ms. Lenz looked to the young man with a calm smile that met her eyes, thinking calmly as she had her answer from him. She returned with water then in a tall glass when she was done with the dishes. Of course, when she had said just this once, she referred to a rule of hers where you are only a guest the very first time one entered her home. The second time they were on their own and had to find things themselves.
After introductions were made, she would seem to look up and to the right as she wondered where she heard the name before. Her gray-blue eyes then settled back on Mr. Limax-Sanguis."The pleasure is mine...Chase,"She replied, not used to calling others by their first names. Due to her profession, she preferred surnames; it was also easier not to get too attached. She relented with the boy though and wished to make her guest comfortable. To his thanks though, she waved a hand as if to motion that it was no big deal."It's sad how the human race could be so cold to itself,"She thought sadly.
She then would then tilt her head slightly in confusion, a few strands of her pale hair falling from her shoulder as she did. She then stood up in proper posture once more as her eyes met his that were just as calm as her own."Of course, where would we be if we did not help those in need?"She replied. Even with the rumors of this world painted the name of the boy as a killer, his actions and manner towards her tonight told her he was anything but. She would then nod towards the raven out on the balcony."You've already met Freya, my raven,"She commented and then looked to the boy."She can send a message for you, if you have someone you'd like to message,"She suggested, wondering if he had someone that worried for him.
Her thoughts then returned to the present at hand."Is he alone here?"She wondered, not used to seeing children travel alone at night. She then would observe and note the drooping of eyelids and other signs of tiredness before actually looking at him."You look tired,"She stated bluntly,"You should sleep, but there's also a shower and towels in the bathroom if you'd like,"She said pointing to the partially closed door diagonal to the table they stood by.

Seeing her gaze move off of him for a moment as he said his full name, Chase wondered what may be going through her mind as when he tried following the gaze he noted nothing. Nor had he heard any sound, so his mind deduced it must be something she did when she became lost in thought or perhaps was searching her mind for something. 'What is she thinking now that she knows my name? If she did not recognize me before, she should now...Is she thinking of how to get rid of me, bring me to justice...If she should have left me.' These dark, illogical thoughts, began to swarm in his mind. He knew, or at least thought he did, that she would do no such thing. She was in the crowd, would have heard what they were calling him even if she didn't know who he specifically was. Thus far, he had done nothing to indicate he was as bad as what people said about him...but then he had not been found with the bodies that evening. She had been nothing but kind to him, if a bit forceful in some of her commands. His paranoid mind slowly settled as he felt her gaze return to him...and say that it was a pleasure. Chase would seem shocked for a moment, eyes looking slightly confused. 'Does she not know who I am? She seems intelligent and a doctor so she must be aware of what goes on here...So why does she say it is a pleasure...' He wondered to himself but could come up with no answer. The only thing he could do, as his paranoid thoughts vanished, was feel...happy, that for once someone was glad to meet him. And to know, he hoped, that it was genuine. He had been with her through what was for him a wild and hectic night and nothing she had done thus far had been anything but nice. To his thanks she merely waved her hands...but asked for nothing else, nor did it seem to be dismissing in a bad way...But more so as if it was something that should be done, nothing special. 'She is so different from others...Are people...Can they be like this?' Chase wondered to himself. She had done so much for him, and to his gratitude waved it away as if she would do this for anyone. For once, Chase felt as if maybe things had not gone so badly.
Seeing her tilt her head in confusion before straightening, Chase wondered what thoughts may have crossed her mind. He honestly could not guess as to what, unless he missed something. But there was nothing new as far as he could tell, so as she straightened her posture he hoped she would shed some light as to what had confused her. Her response illuminated what was on her mind, as apparently it was to his thanks. The words themselves, while seeming to have one answer for her, had another entirely for Chase. Given what he knew of her thus far, her answer could be that they would be that they would be no more than savages. Chases answer, which he kept to himself, couldn't be anymore different. 'We would be exactly where we are, ready to trample anyone if it was for our own benefit.' It had been his experience in the real world, the world away from what remained of his immediate family. Humans and faunus alike both thought of themselves as more than just animals, in general, but their natures betrayed that. Even in cities everyone was in a game of survival that depended more on reputation than anything else. He was broken from his thoughts as he saw her nod to the balcony, his eyes following to see her Raven as he heard her say its name was Freya. He wondered what the name meant, and as she offered to send a message for him with her his eyes would turn back to Ms. Lenz. He would smile softly to her, but shake his head no. "Thank you but... I'd rather no one know about tonight." Would be his simple and straightforward response, revealing more than he should have perhaps...but he was beginning to feel more comfortable and trusting of the doctor. His slow easing into this situation becoming more evident as well with his words that, while meek, flowed more freely as he got used to speaking again. He would pause for a moment, as if lost in thought as his own eyes would briefly look slightly above her...before lowering back to her a bit meekly still. "May I trouble you to know...what her name means?" Chase would ask as he would nod towards the raven again. He was genuinely curious...and felt brave enough to ask that question of her as he hoped he wasn't overstepping his bounds.
As he awaited a response, he felt a sudden thirst from not having drank anything for several hours now and grabbed the glass she had handed to him prior with one hand. He had admittedly forgotten about it till now with everything, and slowly drank it till completion to quench his thirst. He hoped she did not find it rude to do so as he listened for her explanation to the meaning of the ravens name. Once finished, he would set it down on the table besides him as he noticed her eyes begin to study him, wondering what she was seeing and hoping he was presentable at the least. He had not seen himself since he left home this evening, and after everything he must be a mess at this point. It did not help he could feel the fatigue of the night hitting him at this point, as he felt himself yawn softly despite trying to suppress it even as his eyelids slightly drooped. Seeing her eyes settle on him again rather than study him, he was surprised as she went straight to the point and said he looked tired. He thought of protesting...but she was so firm in her ordering, only backed up further in his mind knowing that she was a doctor that the thought quickly shriveled up and died in his mind. She even said he had access to a shower as she pointed it out. He would nod to her in acknowledgement that he would do so, but this time he rose with his glass and bowed to her softly. He was not going to let her do his dishes this time as he would go to the sink and quickly yet carefully clean it. That being settled, he would turn back to her as a thought was brewing in his mind. He was thinking of a way to try and repay her for all she had done for him. He didn't know exactly what to offer but... 'Maybe that will work...' He silently thought to himself. He cleared his throat as he almost felt his voice fail him, before meekly speaking. "May I make a simple request? I want to...I want to help others, as you've helped me... Is there anyway I could...I could work for you? I don't want any money, but just to help...I can only go on certain days, because I will be enrolled at beacon soon but...I do have some experience with medicine, and I promise to do as I am told and try my best." Chase would request of her, his voice slightly pleading yet determined as he spoke much more than previously this evening. He wanted to help others, so they didn't see him as a killer...To be liked. And he wanted to repay her for all she had done for him this night. Despite his meekness, he would hold her gaze as he made the request and stand tall. He wanted to do this, wanted to show that he could be more than a frightened kid at the mercy of others. To prove he wasn't the killer he was made out to be. He wanted to prove it to himself as well, knowing how easy it was at times to strike out in self defense...And have others suffer because of it.

Ms. Lenz would look to the boy as he had seemed to be silent, was he scared? She then thought about it and could understand why, but she was not like others, she felt it was not her place to judge when she didn't have all the facts. As her blue-gray eyes rested on him still, she waited patiently for him to speak. When he did, she looked to him sternly before nodding in understanding. The child seemed to not want to raise any flags it would seem."Very well,"She replied, respecting his decision. His growing comfortable had not gone unregistered as she would watch him casually."He is relaxing, that is good,"She noted in the way of doctor's analyzing a patient.
His meek question made her smile a little."Freya? It is the name of a Norse goddess of love and war, in simplest terms, so much more. Her name means 'The Lady',"She answered matter-of-factually. She looked to the raven as it seemed to be settling for the night. It reminded her that they would need to sleep soon, as her attentions would return to the young man she was housing for the night. As she has spoken, she was aware he drank the water she had provided him. Good, his body needed hydration, she thought absently. He was fighting sleep, it would appear, she noted as well before she had spoken.
When he asked for a request Drac raised a slight eyebrow, but would listen with intrigue. She smiled slightly as she considered the request for helping others. It was not something she had expected really. She rested a nail thoughtfully on her chin before nodding slightly after a minute of silent consideration."I have never done it before, but if you can keep up with your studies, it should be alright,"She began thoughtfully,"You may come by the clinic and help in the gardens to begin with. I shall teach you from there."She thought it was fair, even with medical experience, she remembered her father teaching her through the gardens first."Will he be up for it though?"She wondered though.

The last thing he desired was for anyone to know he slipped out for the night and everything that had transpired that evening, even if some of it seemed to be for the good as the case of his meeting with Mrs. Lenz. He was also glad she didn't seem like the prying type with his experience so far, at least not the persistent type at the least which helped Chase relax with her. The last thing he liked to be subjected to was an interrogation after everything that has happened to him so far. He wondered how people like her existed in this world when so many were cruel and shallow. Though perhaps the answer was more simple when he put actual thought to it. 'Altruistic behavior does exist among animals... Even if it is not favored and quickly selected against.' He thought to himself. Humans were pack animals, and he was one of the ones kicked out of the pack. It was nice to know though that not all were alike for once.
He would then be answered on his question as to the meaning of the Raven's name. 'Hmm... The lady, who is also a Norse goddess of love and war.' It was certainly an interesting name choice as he silently repeated it in his mind. He did not know as much about such a mythos as she likely did, but he did have a general understanding of it. He wondered why she decided to name the Raven as such, what it did to earn the name or some way, or if she simply fancied the name and assigned it regardless of the birds nature. It would be an interesting thing to learn regardless, though he felt as if that should wait. He didn't want to flood her with questions, and if he chose he may be able to ask again in the future. Or perhaps he should end relations here while they were good, well he thought they were at least, so that he would not wear out his welcome. Regardless, he had his answer and it was an interesting one at least since she even said it meant so much more. He may have to research that in the future on his own to figure out who the name truly represented, and may by chance learn more of the birds nature. She did seem to like the question, because although she spoke matter of factually, she had a slight smile on her face as she did. 'Is it pride in the bird or attachment to it?' He idly wondered to himself, but let the thought fade without much focus. He noticed her gaze having traveled to the Raven afterwards as it seemed to be settling for the night. He would soon be following suit with how he felt. The relation she seemed to have with Freya seemed to be similar to that with his hound, which was also interesting for him to note. It may have been a thin similarity with her, but it was one nonetheless.
Chase would watch with anticipation as Mrs. Lenz seemed to be considering his request for it, though she spent far too long for his nerves. He wondered what pros and cons were running through her head as she considered his request, whether she was leaning towards denying or approving it. He almost wished he had not offered it in order to not have the feeling of apprehension that he now felt as he tried to remain visibly calm on the surface. He didn't want to blow his chance by showing how nervous he truly was or felt, as that may make her lean toward denying it. He truly wanted to try and help others, to show he was not the killer everyone thought him to be. Or at least make up for that side of him when it showed itself. He didn't want to be hated or feared... or rejected at a glance. He may have lived most his life with few others, but he was still a faunus. He still had the desire to fit in if only a little, if only not to be outright banned from it. While it was only a minute, as he counted the seconds as they ticked by, it felt much longer to him. Seeing her nod though brought instant relief to him as he now knew his request was accepted. As she spoke, he was surprised to hear he would be the first. Not because he expected it to be commonplace, but because he didn't expect to be accepted for it if he would be the first one. Not with his background at the least. As she mentioned the stipulation was for him to keep up with his studies, he would nod but wait for her to finish speaking before responding. As she mentioned starting in gardens though, he was curious. He knew of herbs used for medicinal purposes, but he did not expect to them to have a garden at the clinic itself. Logically, he could only assume if the training were to begin there that natural medicine must be the purpose of such a thing. It was just surprising. Speaking in a pleased tone, he would respond. "Thank you for the opportunity... I promise to not waste it..." He would say with a slight bow with a grateful tone of voice. He would then have his eyes rise to meet hers with a slight smile on his lips. "Thank you again... For everything. Good night." He would add as he let out a yawn just after he finished speaking, tiredness taking over. He would wait to give her a chance to respond before he would part ways with her for a shower and some sleep for the rest of the night.

Dracaena Cinnabari was enjoying a rare day-off. But even as she was home now, she would not sit still for long. As she had gotten ready for the day before setting out on her cleaning duties for caring for her home."I should really catch up with that boy...see how he is,"Drac thought absently as she would think of her strange guest from over a month ago. Though if he had not contacted her, nor visited the clinic, she figured he must be doing well.
It would mean he had come to no harm. At least she would hope he had not. She would then continue with her cleaning duties. The condo clean within a couple hours or so, she would then relax with a good book and some lavender tea."Ah, that's right...I need to check on the gar...oh wait, John's taking care of that."Her mind calmed, the mature woman would sit back down to enjoy her day at home with her feathered companion.

While Ghost did his best to stay hidden and track it, the bird was taking no chances in being followed. 'How long has this bird been thieving to know to do this?' He silently wondered to himself. While it was nowhere near what he would do to lose a foe, it was more than the average bird thief (which often ended up as a meal as a result). He had no desire to eat this bird as he admired its intelligence... but he would get it back in some way for stealing his smoke bomb. While an interesting adversary, Ghost spent his entire life traveling unseen when he desired to. And eventually he did manage to slip completely out of the birds notice and mind as he noticed its patterns becoming more straightforward. 'Perhaps finally this chase will end.' He thought to himself. While he had been seeking a relief from boredom... this was not what he had in mind. Chasing after a bird through most of the town was exciting for all of the first five minutes... then it was just tedium. There was no thrill to it like other creatures and people because he simply could not reach it without trying to kill it or it landing; and he was too intrigued by its intelligence to kill it. Still, it seemed there would be hopefully an end in sight as the bird was headed to the residential district... well deeper into it. It had tried to lose him here before. Ghost only felt it could be its nest because he assumed there would be much less for it to steal here than in the other areas.
He smiled to himself. It was much later in the evening now, the day having long since faded, but his quarry finally ended its long flight. It had gone to a rather nice looking condo, and Ghost counted the floors up to the balcony it landed on. 'Third floor. Residence. Why would a bird like that land on someones balcony for the night? Lest it is a pet...and if so was it trained to steal?' Ghost began to wonder to himself in his mind as he watched the spot for a little bit; to ensure it was not just a temporary stop for the bird. Seeing as it had made no sign to leave though...He figured its nest must be somewhere there. However there was an issue... So long as it was on its nest retrieval was not guaranteed. If it noticed him, it could fly away again with his smoke bomb and he had no clue where it would land afterward with its nest compromised. So...He would have to do this quietly; with either the bird leaving, or sneaking it past the bird while it slept. He smiled to himself at the thought. 'Challenge after challenge...Well, I am not one to leave a job unfinished.' He thought to himself as he moved forward. He was planning to scale the outside of the building because while he could pick a lock, he would have to open a door to reach the bird as he assumed the top opening was closed. And that would very easily alert it to him, and subsequently ruin his chances. So he would go to a dark side of the building and begin scaling it, safely out of sight from wandering eyes. Using his grapple hook to give himself an easier way up to the roof, he would slowly and quietly make his way across it; intent to descend down to the balcony to reclaim his smoke bomb.

Drac was happily on her way home after a long day of work at the clinic. Though she was returning home a little while; a few groceries for the next week."Hopefully Freya has returned,"Drac thought, only slightly worried for her genius avian companion. As she came upon her residence, she would hear a 'Caw' of greeting and look up. Relief spread through her as she waved back to her feathered friend before heading up towards home.
Once home, she would remove her coat and hat, hanging them on the coat rack calmly. Sapphire eyes cast their gaze upon the condo she called home and not seeing anything amiss would begin to walk past the kitchen and dining area towards the glass doors. Allowing her trusted, albeit mischievous pet entry to the home while she prepared to make herself some tea and something to eat. The raven flew in with the shiny clasped in her claws as she would place it on the counter and proudly stand beside it.
Dracaena Cinnabari sighed as she looked to her happy avian before her eyes rested on the strange spherical...thing beside her."Where did you get that,"Drac inquired cautiously. Freya momentarily did a circle in the air, indicating she found it while flying."Oh dear,"Dr. Lenz thought as it might be someone's."Did you steal it,"Ms. Lenz groaned when Freya nodded then scowled."It is pretty. But, tomorrow you will search and return it. No more stealing,"Drac told her klepto of a bird. She then sighed and offered her friend a peanut butter biscuit to soothe the bird's ego; or risk the cawing all night.
Freya had felt safe enough to return home, for it was getting dark and her mistress would be returning soon. She was hoping surprise her mistress with the new shiny she retrieved. Though after the scolding and the treat, the feathered creature flew and perched on the perch by the front door in a sulk while her human sat down with a book and vanilla chai tea in the living room.

Which would complicate things, but he needed a visual on it no matter what to determine when he was getting his smoke bomb. Which meant he still had to rappel down the that side of the building to be close enough to take advantage of that. He did not notice the caw was to a certain doctor; in truth he could not see the person from his position up here. Nor, if he did, would he have thought it relevant that the bird cawed upon her arrival. 'At least this signals that the hunt is coming to an end.' He thought to himself as he attached the carbiner of his grapple onto the ledge of the roof... Took two steps backwards... and dropped off the side of the roof. He did love his theatrics after all. As he fell, being fairly high up with this condo, the coil of the grappling hook on his end quickly decreased until there was a sudden jolt as it ran out of line. Hands gripping onto the line as he bounced mid air, he could feel himself moving closer to the wall and moved his legs in front of him so they would impact first. Heart racing, little pain from the abrupt end of the fall, Ghost could only think he loved infiltration. Sure, he could have taken the safer way of slowly rappelling down the side in a controlled manner... but it wasn't quite as fun. Looking down, he could see he was still a few balconies up from his target; his little escapade thankfully being silent. 'Now to close the gap.' He thought to himself as he silently and slowly scaled down the wall.
He had finally gained visual of the balcony and could just make out the avian... along with his smoke bomb. Smiling that he was so close, he was prepared to just drop in and steal it...But just as he was about to the door opened. He could just make out the figure of someone as the bird flew inside. 'Its never simple...' He thought to himself with a sigh. He would quickly drop down to the side of the balcony covered in shadows and peer inside. The person in question was a woman in all black in what he could only guess was Victorian garb, though he could be wrong. Her hair was white, a stark contrast to her attire, and seemed to have been put up. The thieving bird was flying to what appeared to be an island table and the womans back was turned...He could see his smoke bomb in the bird talon as well. He had no choice. While their backs were to him, he slipped into the room and went to the first point of cover; the two seater couch. There was just enough space underneath for him to fit into and he quickly yet silently did such... Having to curl up a bit so nothing was sticking out. It was not the greatest spot, but between crossing the open, going to a high table or staying outside with risk of her closing the door... It was his best option.
From his hiding place he could not see much; purposefully sticking as close to the wall as possible so he wouldn't be seen. He could see up to the island and the bird... but not the women in black who had walked past that. The thief seemed pleased with its loot... however the owner of the bird, or who he assumed was, did not seemed pleased as she questioned it. It seemed the bird stole often and it was not something she approved of. 'So the bird can understand her... and steals of its own accord.' He noted to himself. The bird was more intelligent than he had originally thought. Though that also meant it was a thief because it wanted to be if it knew it displeased its owner. Though she did say for the bird to return it, as Ghost felt this was a common occurrence now, he was not content to wait for that. She may grow curious of it in that time, even if she intended to return it. Further with the birds apparent tendency to disobey... he was not sure if it would actually give it back. Combined with how often his look changed... He would need to get it tonight. She seemed to offer it something as she was cooking and making something, the bird flying off elsewhere in this condo out of his sight. He would need to get closer because if he went for it now he would be in the open for far too long.
He waited till she seemed suitably distracted to change positions. He had been scouting hiding places, but many of them had too much time where he was out in the open. All it would take is a casual turn or the bird flying back and he would be discovered immediately. Meaning he had to go for the closest furniture to try and get closer. 'If I can get to the wall to the left of the television that would be a good point...' He thought to himself, planning his route. He would slowly crawl from underneath the two seater couch to the three seater one, head being beneath the seat closest to the television. He was almost to his goal... When he paused beneath the couch. He heard more sounds than normal from the kitchen and now being able to see... As he could see black boots headed right for his spot. He held his breath as she went right to his spot, wondering if he had been spotted... before the boots turned around, something was set on the stand... and he could hear her seating herself right above him. In his limited space down there he noticed the seat above him sink down ever to slightly, but not enough to actually make contact with him yet. He still had an inch, and unless she jumped or fell on the couch he doubted it would reach him which was a small relief. As he was now stuck beneath the woman for however long she decided to remain there. 'And here I thought the last part would be easy.' He thought with a regretful smile. She was not making much noise or movement above him so he had no clue what she was doing, even when he peaked his head out the side of the couch by the little stand he could only just see her hair and arm whenever she got a drink from there. His front view was not much better; just the heel of a black boot she was wearing as they were crossed at the ankle. He hoped she was not the type to bend her legs to underneath the couch; he did not want to play dodge the heel. He would have to wait for now... taking the time to study the room as much as he could. And anything that could catch his interest after. Like a black spider making its trek from underneath the couch out, he apparently having taken its sleeping spot. It was calmly walking a little distance from the mysterious woman's boots when she changed position... One moment there was a spider, and the next there was a boot where it once was. It seemed the woman took no notice either as the boot stayed there for now. 'That is a great sign...' He thought to himself sarcastically.

Drac was enjoying a good book as she waited for the timer to go off and her simmering beef and mushroom stew with greens, whose mouthwatering aroma slowly drifted towards her after some time."Oh my,"Drac thought as she continued to read the novel. ankles crossed still, she would move to cross the other. Unaware of the poor arachnid that met its demise under her heel. All the while, unaware there was a possible killer within her domicile.
After some time though, the shrill beep of the timer awoke her from the fantasy of the book's world."Well, it seems dinner's ready,"the mistress of the place commented and stood after placing a bookmark where she paused. Taking her tea with her, she set it down on the island counter before turning off the heat to the stove and removing the stew from the heat. Stirring it once before letting it rest while she got bowls and a spoon for herself. Her attention on her task, she still was unaware of the ominous presence that invaded her private living quarters."How odd the sphere is...must be a toy of sorts,"Dr. Lenz thought absently then shrugged it off. Stew served in the bowls, a piece of French bread sliced and set in each bowl, she set the pair down at the island counter before taking her seat and placed a napkin in her lap."Freya, come darling,"Ms. Lenz called to her feathered friend who joined her shortly and tasted the soup as her mistress did."Splendid. We must thank Freya for the suggestion,"Drac said after much thought then went back to eating in a polite manner, her posture proper.
Freya would wait while she sulked, knowing better than to fly over to the stove. She then flew back and took the shiny to the opposite side of the island counter, closer to the kitchen's side. She would then return to her perch until she was called. With a happy caw, the black-feathered avian would join her mistress and taste the creation. Yum! She then looked up from her food and merely nodded in agreement. The raven was not aware that she might have a more thorough understanding of her human mistress than others of her species or any animal, but she never really cared to ask other animals either. Instead, she went back to eating.
