Welcome

For those of you that have been following the events of Anthemusa (here or here) I would like to welcome you to phase three: the real conclusion!

In the time that Renegade Media has been in existence, it's grown into a media company that's grown to be a force to be reckoned with. Expanding it's reach from promotion and marketing, it's begun to get into some research and development and stretch it's metaphorical fingers far and wide.

Unfortunately, it's hit a little blip in the road where the company's undergone a restructure and re-branding of it's own due to some (scandalous) inter-company drama, the company closed it's doors to the public while it worked on things eternally.

        But now...

        ...

        ......

Guess who's back (back, back, back again, again, again).

Now titled Argent Industries and run primarily by Jade Argent (with Chase Black and Levi Drummond working in the background) the company is ready to open their doors to new clients, new hires, and, if you hit all of these check boxes on a separate list...well you just might be in for a recruitment.

To kick it all off, and to celebrate their re-opening, Argent Industries would like to welcome Destiny City to it's first convention!

The Convention

Advertising has been all over the place.

You see billboards on every other street, radio advertisements have been playing almost on a loop on nearly every radio station you turn to, and if you've got social media, then you've probably had an ad of some sort thrown your way.

And if you're a YouTube frequenter, then you're probably hit with a view of the company's new head and the literal 'face' of Argent Industries promoting their upcoming convention.

There's even a call for local vendors to set up shop in their food and 'artist' alley along with people who think they might want to sign up to be a panelist.

Rumor has it that Argent Industries is going to host a beta testing of a new MOBA game being launched by this hot up-and-coming gaming company they're heavily considering investing in. If things go well...people have heard talks of a gaming tournament.

If there's ever a time to get a chance to meet and talk to some of your favorite local, and not so local, YouTubers, internet names, or you're itching to attend a panel for some media-savy talks (we know you're interested to hear what some of the game developers have to offer), then this is the place for you! Or maybe you're hoping to be that next big 'talent' that the company takes under their wing, there's opportunities for you to get your name (and face) out there!

There's also a chance that someone might take an interest in you and offer a job (with benefits!).

For $20 a ticket, or maybe you're one of the lucky ones who wins a free one, there's a lot the convention has to offer so it can't hurt to pop in!

The Rules

      • NO POWERED CHARACTERS ARE ALLOWED during this event. If you cannot abide by this rule we will politely request that you exit the event and you will be disqualified from any participation rewards.
      • The only exception to the above rule is Mauvian, as long as they are wearing something that hides their stars, they are welcome to attend the convention. (By sneaking in of course.)
      • While the company is a behind-the-scenes Negaverse operation this is not public knowledge (and will never be) and by participating you are agreeing to respect that.
      • This is a heavily photographed and recorded event, every where you look there's a camera of some sort. No shady business please!
      • While advertised primarily as a media convention, there is a large gaming emphasis and people are welcome to dress up as their favorite video game characters.
      • Be courteous to other players, remember the daisy code, and if there is a serious issue, please contact me (Nuxaz) and I will help resolve the issue. If you do not get along with another player or character, please do not go out of your way to interact with them. If I find that you are intentionally causing issues, you'll be asked to exit the event.
      • OOC does not equal IC, please respect that.
      • A shoutout to Felyn for creating the plot that became this event with me, to demon_pachabel for creating the graphics and putting together images for me, and to Ghouliboo who's assisting me with this event by being my proofreader.

The Main Hall

Welcome to the Main Hall of Anthemusa: The Convention!

Here you'll find yourself immersed in Destiny City's first Media Convention of this nature! It's not solely limited to media stars, but some bigger name gamers and authors. While there's a large emphasis on potential talents (there's a stage for talent-wannabees) there's also a cozy gamer corner set up to test a new up and coming MOBA game that AI™ is considering investing in.

Purchase your tickets, if you haven't already, get your wristbands and dive into Artist and Vendor's alley while you wait for those panels you can't wait to see. There's a couple of workshops available too, which you might find if you wander by enough rooms but there's also a handy-dandy schedule guide offered when you first walk in to help you jam-pack your convention fun!

Or wing it and spend your time wandering around and possibly meeting up with old (or new) friends!

Here's where you should mix and mingle if you don't feel up to venturing to the game (here) or if you're not up to really perusing the wares offered by DC's local artists, musicians, or businesses! (here)

Beatrice Kellye

Beatrice didn't know a thing about video games that didn't deal with monsters, zombies or the occasional dress-up factor. Yet, when she'd heard there was a convention in town that focused on "media", she knew she had to get her hands on a pair of tickets.

While her Etsy shop had flopped, the notion of grabbing a booth at the convention to try to sell some of her unsold wares had popped up over her head like a figurative lightbulb. So, armed with a tub of bear parts, Barbie heads and various plushie segments, she made her way into the main hall with eyes wide and sparkling. Granted, she had to do some research on various video game characters and YouTube mascots but she had faith in her abilities.

She was gonna finally make some money!!!

Erich Jäger

Erich grunted as he was situated at the front of the main hall, having been assigned with security assistance and badge checking. That meant a lot of standing around. Hopefully though it would come with some moving around, which would make the standing a bit easier to handle. He was more of an action-survival guy. Standing around doing nothing just wasn't his style.

He had to get here early and also help set up a bit, but could watch as others continued to trickle in and re-adjusted the badge that he was wearing. If there was one thing nice about this "job" it was that he could at least wear a hoodie when he wanted and jeans. No uniform for him, though it did have to follow the color scheme of the event.

He sighed as he leaned against the wall at his assigned spot, waiting for something to happen. Even if it was just having to give someone directions.

Sophia Thomas

Hands wrung themselves together as Sophie looked around the convention hall nervously. She'd been lingering by the ticket booth for nearly ten minutes, amethyst eyes scanning the rooms off in the distance as her eyebrows furrowed, worried lines creasing her forehead.

She didn't know the first thing about video games or media related things. YouTube was meant for watching DIY videos, not for podcasts or whatever else people used them for these days. Vines grew on trees and snaps were the sound twigs made, not things her phone should be aware of.

Still, when she'd given the free tickets to Austin after winning them (for who else was as internet savvy as he was, from the small collection of people she knew?) and he'd asked her to take the other one, the young woman had stammered a flushed yes without a second thought.

It was almost like... a date.... that is, until he excitedly announced that his friend Katie would join them in attendance.

Ah.

And yet, despite knowing she was third-wheeling for Austin's date to the convention, Sophie still found herself at the entrance, waiting patiently for the two others to join her before entering the strange new world of convention things.

Elissa Lombard

Elissa, eternally the sort to want to help out when and wherever she could, had jumped at the chance to volunteer at this fascinating media convention thing. She'd been assigned to check badges and hand out maps; simple enough and totally fine by her. She knew very well that the little things were vital to helping events run smoothly, and so she would follow her instructions to the letter.

Standing in her designated spot, she carefully inspected the maps to make sure no one had dog-eared them too badly, and she greeted all visitors with a warm grin. "Welcome to Anthemusa! Here's your map, let me see your badge... okay, you're good to go! Enjoy the con!" She was laying it on a bit thick, but she wanted the visitors to be as excited as she was for the event. Secretly, she had always wanted to go to these kinds of events but had never had the time or funds. Volunteering was a great solution, really.

Someone tried to slip by without their badge obviously in view. "Excuse me!" she called out. "Badges must be facing forward and prominently displayed, please!" Okay, the person was a cosplayer, and there was a concern of "badge bombing" or something, but they sheepishly turned their badge around and pulled it out from behind their trenchcoat lapel. "Thank you very much, enjoy the con!"

She'd already done some good! How exciting! She kind of wanted to explore the con herself, but she was patient. She could wait. Really, though, even just looking at the cosplayers and excited con-goers was enough. Nothing like a good atmosphere and environment!

Austin Lynch

In typical Lynch fashion, he rolled up fifteen minutes passed the agreed meet up time. Which, if Sophie chastised him for being late he'd argue that he was at least more on time than usual considering he often ran at least 30 minutes or more late.

Plus he was running with Katie, who was tragically inclined to run late just like he was so the fact they were almost on time was a miracle really.

She should be thrilled.

Long legs carried a tall and lanky frame across the parking lot. "C'mon rhino, I know you got stubby legs, but you gotta keep up~" He chirped, glancing over his shoulder with a lazy grin before he spotted Sophie in the distance, patiently waiting as always for him and his companion.

"Yooooo, Soph!"

Cynthia Desjardins

Cynthia had been disappointed that she hadn't been able to go to the festival last year, though she had heard some rumors about something happening at the end of it. And now that she was powered, she was suspicious of practically every event that happened in town now.

Still though... not every event was a scheme by the Negaverse, right? Couldn't people just do things without making it into some energy draining scheme? Which was why she was hopeful that this one would be better. That and she couldn't help trying to practice her photography skills at the event. Though any photos taken would have to have the permissions of the subjects of the photo, unless it was for allowed-objects. After all, she didn't want someone to feel bad about their face being put up on the internet if they didn't want it!

So she had wandered in, her trusty photo bag and camera with her, hoping that they wouldn't take it away from her when she got into the building. So far so good... She thought as she went to get her tickets and wristbands for what she needed to get into.

She did take a look around to see if she could recognize anyone from either her school or one of her friends. She cursed herself that she hadn't asked anyone to go with her besides her boyfriend, and unfortunately he had been busy with taking freshman college classes at this point, so she was all alone for right now.

Sunny Dyer

It felt like it'd been years ago, the last time Sunny had been to a convention; really, it had been in early January when everyone was still hale and hearty with the remainder of festivities, but as far as she was concerned it might as well have been familiar. It was impossible to shake the (almost-false) feeling of eyes on her, even if she knew there was no real reason for anyone to stare; it was one thing to know it but another to know it. (Getting her wristbands had been awkward, though, but she couldn't blame them. There weren't a lot of girls with one arm; in all reality, she'd been the one who'd made it awkward.)

Even if it hadn't been years, she'd kept herself apart from the groups she'd normally stay with, groups that might have made a group visit to the convention -- this was a blind visit. Some of the panels seemed interesting, but none of them had started yet, and she wanted -- she wouldn't have been adverse to someone saying hello. Doing it herself was too great a leap.

Stormy Ortega

It wasn't yet her turn at the booth, but Stormy had wanted to show up early. Vaguely. It was a mix of an impulse to leave the student dorms (avoid the reunion ringing, the claustrophobic club recruiters, the general human noise of indebted collegiates) and a kernel of interest. She wasn't really someone who wanted to go into media--though sometimes she did imagine small rants about this or that when it came to Disney--but she might as well be there anyway; otherwise, knowing her, she'd be late and making a terrible impression to her new boss.

Carrying a bottle of fresh chamomile tea from said establishment, wearing TEArimisu's uniform so she didn't have to actually dress up, she slowly wormed her way through the line and confirmed that yes, she was a booth participant, no, it wasn't her turn, yes, the stand was already made, all an anxious little parade of eye contact and questions that made her wish she had brought water instead of something that, while soothing, would dehydrate her in the long run.

Stormy eventually trickled out of the mouth of the line and slightly away, unsure where to begin when it seemed that, for once, she was a little early. Uncapping the bottle, she drained several gulps and looked about, dazzled by the colorful characters showing up. Maybe it was expected of her to make social niceties with some, establish a good feeling with the tea-bakery? The thought made her nervous again, but nonetheless she found one such target to force herself upon.

"Um, hi!" Her voice was naturally soft, so she had to repeat herself a little louder. "Hi! You look ready to see everything." You know, from the pins...Sure...
