The only village on the island is named Baluga Village. Not all inhabitants of the island live here, but most do and a few live nearby the village on their own. In the center of the village is a spring of freshwater that never runs dry. Around the outskirts is where some farmers live and where most of the produce comes from. There are approximately a hundred inhabitants of the village, children included. The homes look quite rustic, many of which are wooden log houses.

Walking through town really made Xian glad to be back home. He watched as children ran by playing with ball. Their mother was carrying a basket of vegetables and speaking to them to ensure they didn't run off too far. Every so often, somebody would recognize Xian and stop him to say hello. He kept to himself a lot of the time living here and spent most of his time either training or relaxing by fishing or climbing trees. He practically lived in Orca Forest and not in the village.

Maybe twenty minutes flew by while Xian walked through the village, occasionally chatting with folks he knew, before he finally reached his house. It had been some time since he'd last been here. Just over a year, actually. He breathed a deep sigh of relief and inhaled deeply as he knocked on the door.

A few moments passed after Xian's knock, but then soft mumbling could be heard through the door. Then footsteps and Xian would then be able to make out faint words.

"...yeah well I'm gonna have to let you go. He just got here. Yeah, later."

"Coming!" The door opened seconds later Xian's uncle, Hong Tel, stood with Xian face-to-face, a cigarette burning between his lips and the smell of smoke immediately taking over. "I was just talking about you, kid. We were talking about how slow you move." Hong lifted a super fancy cellular phone up by his cheek and waved it around a bit. "And by "we", I mean myself and the chairman of the Hunter's Association. He was quite impressed with how quickly you got the hang of being a Blacklist Hunter." A grin crawled across Hong's face. "So are you ready for part two of your exam?"

Cigarettes.... The smell that would haunt not only his childhood but his whole life. His uncle Hong had always been a smoker. Even in the middle of training, he'd always have a cigarette in his mouth. He never smelled like anything else besides those tobacco sticks. The one thing that Xian noticed was any different was the cell phone. That and why his uncle knew anything about the Hunter's Association, let alone the fact that he knows the chairman. "Three things, uncle. What is the device in your hands? Who is this chairman? And where is this chairman?" Despite being a hunter, he had never met the chairman personally so had little recollection of the person at all from the hunter's exams. He showed up at the end for a second, but was gone pretty fast. Xian paid too little attention anything. He either napped through most of the speeches or was busy fighting for his life to survive the insanity that is the hunter exams.

"But, really, uncle... what is the device. I've never seen a thing like this." Xian was pretty clueless to technology in general. He'd grown up without it in his home and never bothered learning about what anything did. He just knew how to exchange money for services and that was the only real life skill he learned. Everything else he knows is just his natural instinct. That and what insane things his uncle made him learn to survive. He practically tossed Xian out to literal wolves to learn how to fight to survive. Xian eventually fell asleep in a tree instead of dealing with the wolves, but it was still a terrifying incident for an eight year old.

"What? This is a cell phone! You seriously never heard of these things? Here, I prefer my Lokia phone. You can pay me back later. They're like a million jenny or something like that." While Hong spoke, he went through and factory reset the phone, which somehow managed to take a merely thirty seconds. He punched his own contact information for his Lokia phone and threw the phone over to Xian. "Every single hunter needs a phone right? The chairman is an old friend of mine and he thought you'd need this thing for work. And since I never mentioned it, yeah I'm a hunter too."

Hong motioned for Xian to come inside. He would close the door behind Xian and then take him out toward the back of the house. As they were walking across the living room of the rustic cabin on the edge of the jungle, Hong continued, "Just forget about me being a hunter, what's important is that you are ready to take on the second half of your hunter exam. I can't tell you anything about it. You just need to tell me you're ready."

"A cell phone huh?" Xian was mystified by the piece of technology. It could communicate with another of the same type of thing, it seems. When Hong tossed the cell phone his way, Xian reached up with one hand and snatched it from the air. "Th-thanks for this!" he blurted out loudly. He was excited to have this thing, even though he knew so little about what it could do. There were a whole bunch of icons on the screen that were all titled something different. Xian would have to take a look at this thing a lot closer later. Right now, there was something more important in mind. Hong had mentioned the second part of the hunter exams. Xian had no clue there was anything left to do. "Whatever it is, I'm ready," he said with gusto. A fire blazed behind his eyes. If he wasn't considered a hunter at this point, he wanted to make sure that he completed whatever task he could possibly still need to do.

"Good..." Hong slammed his knee directly into Xian's sternum without a second of warning. With the hit, a flood of energy could be felt pulsing through Xian's body. Instead of pain, Xian would feel a non-stop rush of adrenaline. "Listen closely or you're going to die! I just unlocked your aura. I hit you with what is called Nen. If you can learn this first ability, I'll tell you all about Nen. Now, focus on your aura, on that energy you feel! Contain it! Contain it so that it shrouds your body and no longer escapes. If you fail, your aura will drain and you will die."

Ten (点, Point)
The user shrouds their body in aura. The aura forms a basic, shell-like shield over the whole body. This ability is useful in reducing damage from incoming Nen attacks. Using this ability reduces incoming damage from a Nen-based attack equal to 10% of your Aura Stat. This lasts until another ability from the Nen of the Flame list or the Advanced Nen list is used, or until dismissed by the user.
Technique Type: Nen
Point Cost: 10 Aura
Requirements: The training for basic Ten consists of focusing one's aura and allowing it to envelop into a shroud around the body. To begin, the master that is conducting the training must release the aura nodes in the body. This is usually done through a direct strike using Nen. The master will ensure this strike does not kill the trainee. After taking the hit, the trainee must exert all of their effort shroud oneself will their aura. 200 words are required to be posted in training this technique.

The blow was too fast to react to, but Xian instinctively gripped onto his uncle's leg. For less than a second, Xian thought this was the most painful experience of his life, but that was just the shock from his body beginning to feel so full of energy. He let go of his uncle's leg and stood there, a bit bent over from the blow. He had never felt so amazing in his life, but he could feel that it was draining quickly. He listened to his uncle speak. "I'll die?" he pondered to himself in thought. This could be it for him if he didn't figure out how to control his aura and stop it from escaping his body.

Memories flashed before Xian's eyes. Not as if this was his final moments, but to recall something from his past. The time he spent training with his uncle was in preparation for a test just as this. He saw flashes of the time he was learning to meditate underwater. He would grip a heavy rock with his feet to anchor himself and would focus himself while slowing his heartbeat. He managed to be able to meditate for five minutes at his best. As these memories came into Xian's head, he recalled how to focus himself just as he did before. He took a deep breath and let it out before sitting on the ground with his legs crossed. Xian hung his hands over his knees and just continued to breathe while steadily slowing the pace. He imagined a force leaving his body and as his heartbeat slowed, he envisioned it getting more confined back to him and enveloping his form. As he pictured it in his mind, the aura did just that. It would wrap around his body and stay connected to him.

"Looks like you owe me a story about this Nen stuff?" Xian looked up to his uncle and smiled while maintaining his control over the aura. He felt powerful with this new skill he's learned. He wanted to feel that power for as long as he could until he would get tired. Even then, he'd push himself as long as he could.

Xian listened closely, but was and always will be disturbed by how much his uncle smoked. Nobody should be able to talk like that after inhaling so much smoke. When Hong finished what he was saying and started to head outside, Xian followed suit. "So all I gotta do is shut off this aura, right?" Once instructed to begin, Xian went into deep focus again, pulling up memories of his training. He took in a deep breath and focused on the flow of aura.

Memories flashed by quickly. Training in this yard, training in the water, training in the caves. Nothing was giving Xian the right feeling to accomplish this task. "What was it that uncle said? Remember? ... Remember what it felt like to have no aura, right?" Xian thought back to the afternoon he first took a nap in a tree in Orca Jungle. Being there in the nature he'd grown up with, relaxing, was the best feeling and he'd only felt it with no idea of what aura was. As he hooked onto that single memory, Xian slowly lessened the amount of aura flowing out from his body until it completely stopped. "I think that about does it."

"You do learn fast. Well since you're so good at this, I'm just gonna give you three tasks. First, you gotta focus your aura into your hands and feet. Feel what it's like to punch and kick with the power of Ren. Then, I want you to bring your aura into the leg. I want you to know the feeling of the speed you get when you run. Then I want you to stand upon one hand and focus your aura into your core. You'll feel much better control of the whole body that way. Come inside and meet me in my kitchen when you're done. I'll know if you didn't finish the training." Hong walked off as he trailed near to the end of his words. He lit a cigarette before he pushed the door open and entered his abode to prepare the final stage of the test.

Ren (錬, Temper)
The user focuses Aura to be more condensed in certain parts of their body. Focusing it to the hands or feet increases the Strength stat by 10% of the Aura Stat. Focusing on both legs increased the Speed Stat by 10% of the Aura Stat (doesn't increase Evasion). Focusing on one's core and back increases the Evasion Stat by 10% of the Aura Stat. This lasts until another ability from the Nen of the Flame list or the Advanced Nen list is used, or until dismissed by the user. Switching the buff applied by this technique costs only 5 Aura.
Technique Type: Nen
Point Cost: 10 Aura
Requirements: The trainee must make three post to learn Ren. The first post must be at least 150 words learning to increase the amount of aura in the hands and feet. The second post of 150 words must be learning to focus aura into both legs. The third post of 150 words is learning to focus aura in the core, around the diaphragm.

"Three tasks? I'll do it. And I'll show you I'm ready to be a hunter." Xian spoke calmly and with purpose. He had the determination to be successful in anything. All he had to do was give the task his everything. He stood where he was on that single dirt patch in the grassy land and concentrated on his previous training. He had stood here for years and performed various exercises. Just as he had always done in that training, Xian widened his stance and lowered his butt so that his thighs were perfectly horizontal. He then began to breathe in deeply and harness the aura in the same way as he did when he learned Ten. This time, he brought the aura mostly to his hands and feet, less so in a shroud around the body. He struck the air in front of him with punches filled with Nen and then front kicks also with Nen. Pretty soon, Xian would be seen shadowboxing the air, but only he other Nen users would be able to sense the enhanced power he was releasing with his attacks.

Now it was time for leg day. Xian had the hang of shifting his flow of aura. He was able to easily control the distribution of aura to either his fists of his hands, but the new challenge at hand was to pump his aura mostly into his legs. If he could do that, supposedly he could move faster. Again, Xian widened his stance. He just stood still, standing mostly up and straight, tightening his core, and focusing the flow of aura towards his legs. He could feel the sensation of energy flow increasing there. He stayed in this position for a few moments until he knew he could keep the flow of aura steady while he continued to train. "Alright!" he shouted and jumped slightly. His body flew up into the air an extra two feet higher than normal from the extra power behind his legs. After he landed, he couldn't help running a couple laps around his patch of dirt. He enjoyed the feeling of having a bit of extra speed in each step.

"What was the next task again...? Oh yeah! That's right, the core thing. Yeah, let's do the core thing." If Xian had to guess where he'd focus the aura, he'd have to guess that he'd move the flow near his diaphragm. He quite hit running around and stood again in the center of the dirt patch. This time he began to move the flow of his aura closer to the very center of his body, right around the diaphragm. As he did this, Xian's body began to feel more limber and as if he had better reflexes. Like it was nothing, Xian bridged his body backwards and planted his palm on the ground. He had done this move a few times as a kid, but hadn't tried it in a while, indicated by the loud popping of his vertebrae. Xian then threw his legs up as high as he could stretch them while standing on his hands. "This is how he said to do it, right?" He was able to keep up this walking-on-hands exercise for about fifteen minutes. He just wandered around a bit, swapping to one hand and bounces between hands, all the while keeping his center of gravity perfect. He then pushed his body off from the ground and quickly leveled his body back to normal. It didn't even take any extra time to acclimate to being back to normal. He was honestly amazed by the power of aura.

"I suppose I should go check on uncle Hong." Xian walked at a leisurely pace back to the cabin and allowed himself in through the door. Hey uncle! I finished the training. What's the next part going to be like?"

As Xian entered through the door, Hong would call out, "Over here kid. In the kitchen." Just in the next room, Hong was waiting. When Xian made his way there, Hong would have a wine glass filled to the brim with water and leave resting gently on the water's surface in the center of the glass. "If you've mastered Ren, then I want you to show me. It's time to test your abilities and see if they're for real. Go to that glass of water and place you hands just around the outside of the glass without touching it. Then use Ren and move your aura flow to your hands. This is the final test."

Hatsu (発, Release)
Once learned, one would have the ability to awaken their true Nen abilities and have mastery over the Nen of the Flame Techniques. This technique, while having no direct application, allows a character to apply for a Custom Hatsu Ability.
Technique Type: Nen
Point Cost: Passive
Requirements: The master will set a glass filled to the brim with water with a single leaf floating atop, and ask the trainee to hover their hands just around the outside of the glass. The trainee will perform Ren in their hands. The water will exhibit one of six traits. Depending on the trait, the user is a different type of Nen user. If the volume of the water changes, the user is an Enhancer. If the taste of the water changes, the user is a Transmuter. If impurities appear in the water, the user is a Conjurer. If the color of the water changes, the user is an Emitter. If the leaf moves on the water's surface, the user is a Manipulator. If a completely different change appears, the user is a Specialist. The trainee must make at least a 300 word post detailing this process.
