Something stirs you away from your task at hand. Perhaps you were sleeping and were suddenly awoken. Perhaps you were protecting your neighborhood, or perhaps you were turning in energy for your weekly quota. No matter what it was you were doing just moments ago, you were being summoned.

The song is off-key, lilting and uneasy, but it seems to be calling you. It is a hum, a tune you can’t quite place, but know it sounds off. You can feel it in your body and deep in your mind. Almost as if sleepwalking, many begin making their way through the city and towards the park where this strangeness all started.

Fifty-seven starseeds have been gathered at the base of the mysterious monument, drawn here by an eerie, bone-deep song no one else can perceive. You are milling about, almost waiting… but for what? There are enemies and allies among your ranks, but you feel no adrenaline in your veins, no desire to attack. Something seems to be lulling you to an odd dreariness. The moon is high in the sky on this crisp and clear night.

Without warning, the monument begins to glow with a bright, golden light. The light is warm but smells of ozone and static dances across your bare skin. Soon, you are all but blind and lose all feeling in your limbs.

You are drifting…

...and when you awaken, you are no longer in Destiny City as you knew it.

Sandy beige walls pulse with electrical veins, a mechanical hum heavy in the air. You and your now-comrades are in a large room, devoid of doors. Slitted windows align one wall, but some kind of forcefield seems to be keeping you inside. You can see out, gazing upon the moonlit park you had left behind.

[THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT]

You’re trapped inside the Monument! How did you get here? You’re not really sure, but there doesn’t seem to be any means of escape… for now. The following rules will apply to this event only!

  • You cannot power down while inside the Monument!
  • You cannot leave the Monument by any means you can conceive of. There are no doors leading outside, and Chaos-aligned agents and senshi cannot teleport outside, even if they can clearly visualize where they would like to go. They will not expend the energy even if they tried to teleport, however. TL;DR - no teleportation, nothing happens.
  • Chaos agents, corrupted senshi and Dark Mirrors cannot drain energy.
  • Dark Mirror Senshi cannot mirrorwalk outside the monument or travel to Mirrorspace, and they cannot summon any wraiths.
  • Likewise, Knights and Senshi cannot travel to their homeworld or the moon. You are effectively disconnected for the time being.
  • Knight Summons cannot be used. You can go through the motions, but just like with teleportation, nothing happens. You do not lose any energy for trying.
  • Personal Youma cannot be summoned into the Monument. They cannot hear your call.
  • Knight Aspects are on the fritz and do not appear to work unless specifically noted.
  • You can only interact with the people in your team for the time being. As far as you’re aware, the other people gathered at the Monument with you have effectively disappeared.
  • Cellphones, tablets and other communication devices will work, BUT - only with the people in your team. You cannot call friends if they are not present with you. Your calls and messages simply bounce back.

[SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS]

  • Mauvians are trapped in the highest form they’ve achieved. This means, if they have access to a human or senshi form, they are stuck in it.
  • Mauvians have unlimited kitty beams for the duration of this event (to aid in combat checks!)
  • Our Resident 4th Stage Characters are also stuck in their highest form. This doesn’t apply to Camelot exactly, but… Sorry, Leto. You’re stuck with the big ol’ wings. No shifting between 3rd and 4th stage here.
  • 4th stage characters can only use their special abilities (like crystal powers and Aspects) one time, unless specified otherwise.
  • Chaos agents and senshi can teleport within the Monument itself, but even then, only to rooms you’ve been to and currently have access to. The same applies to Dark Mirrors who find a reflective surface. No Mirrorspace, but you can get from one room to another on a reflective surface if you can find one.
  • Youma DO NOT hunger while in the Monument! Something about it seems to satiate the youma’s need to feed.

More may be added as needed!

[EXTRA SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS]

This event is meant to be fun above all else. If you don’t quite have the time in your day to fill out a post with tons of content, that’s totally fine. We appreciate you being here and trying your best! If you are using this event for growth requirements, please make sure you write at least 500 words!

[NUMBER GENERATION/DICE ROLLING & HP TOTALS]

Dice rolling will be used for task-based events!

Your HP and numbers to generate are dependent on your character’s rank for combat purposes! These will be reiterated for each step of the climb, so don’t worry if you forget - I’ll keep them posted in easy-to-find spots in case it gets confusing.

HP TOTALS:

  • Chibi Senshi/Cats (cat form): 40HP (generates numbers 1-8 for combat)
  • Stage 1 Characters/Cats (human form): 50HP (generates numbers 1-10 for combat)
  • Stage 2 Characters/PC Youma/Cats (senshi form): 60HP (generates numbers 11-20 for combat)
  • Stage 3 Characters: 70HP (generates numbers 21-30 for combat)
  • Stage 4 Characters: 80HP (generates numbers 31-40 for combat)

This list will be reposted before every combat, so don’t worry about memorizing these numbers!

[The first step of the climb will begin in roughly 24 hours!]

General Zircon

Suri had big plans for her Friday night.

It involved compiling dozens of pages of raw data in front of a computer screen, but that was how she liked to work--and with most of her staff choosing to leave early for their weekend plans, it meant she had the lab all to herself, which was as close to contentment as the woman generally saw.

Except there had been some kind of noise, a song playing just out of reach that pulled her from her work and out into the parking lot, where she could still hear it, just a room away and somehow even worse. Whatever it was, it would give her no peace with her numbers, a fact made all the more intolerable by the distinct lack of something to silence. It was not a problem Suri had a solution to, this strange music that rattled her bones, so she turned to the only avenue available to her by drawing in chaos and becoming General Zircon. As an agent of the Negaverse, if the thing could not be subdued, then it would be destroyed, and that set some of the dissonant ache in her chest at ease.

She followed the source of the hum, paying no mind to the spell it seemed to cast on her, the hazy fog on her mind. Zircon wasn't aware of the anomaly until she was practically upon it, surrounded by allies and enemies alike who had all presumably heard the call. She tried to register faces, names, but nothing seemed to come forth as she called it from memory. The only thing she could note was the moon, washing them all in her cold, foreign light, and then the glow from the monument, which at least had the decency to be warm.

Zircon came to her senses surrounded by strangers, most of them wearing colors other than black, and her first instinct was to teleport away out of the park, where she could call for reinforcements and address the issue of so many concentrated hostiles from a secure location. But when she stepped forward, the earth didn't move around her--and when she reached for Negaspace, she got no answer.

She was stuck, and her second instinct was to panic, eyes wide and her breathing shallow. Since she'd been a captain, she'd only been unable to teleport once, and it was in a dark cell where she'd been broken over and over again for too many days at the hands of someone who'd told her that her suffering was justice. Zircon had thought being a general made her safe or immune to these sorts of dangers, that she was too strong to be taken by some outside force, but she'd been wrong, so terribly wrong, and there were so many people she would have to kill to make it out alive, counted at one-two-three-four-five--

Zircon counted Sinoite as six and then she paused, backpedaling--no, that was her lieutenant, she'd found him and named him and he was hers. Bound by a sense of responsibility and fueled by adrenaline, she crossed the room to him with more urgency than grace, her gait stilted by the awkward swing of her prosthetic. "Lieutenant," she hissed, grabbing his arm like the rag doll she knew him to be, and she pulled him close with a critical eye over his clothes, his posture, his face. "Are you hurt?" She paused, then glanced around the room, finding it unsatisfactory. "Where is Sweetite?"

If she found out someone had harmed her lieutenant or her senshi, there would be hell to pay.

Lieutenant Sinoite

Ashley had been drawing, his thoughts no where near the tower and completely focused on the scene before him. At first, as he painted the brush over the canvas, he thought he heard music. It was showing in the draws of paint over the picture, disrupting his work and his mind.

"What is going on?" The painter drew back, as the music became clearer but not near here. He shifted, going to his patio and taking a deep breath. The fade of Ashley to Sinoite was reflex and the draw to the tower, something that was drawn in his sketchbook over and over again, overwhelmed him.

He didn't think of others as they circled around the tower, and as they disappeared...he woke with more clarity in the tower and its sandy beige walls.

It took a second for him to realize he was in a room of not just nega's, but order and others. his gaze only shifted when his general came over, her eyes wide.

He was drawn close and his eyes widened. "General Zircon." He put his hand gently over hers, "I'm not. Dazed, confused about our surroundings." His gaze traveled over the others in here. "Not with us. I didn't see her....I don't remember seeing her." He rubbed his head, "I don't remember coming to the tower besides a song."

Captain Angelite

Waking up when one hadn't remembered dozing off in the first place was, without question, a disorienting feeling.

She hadn't remembered falling asleep - all she could remember was returning to the strange monument for a follow-up investigation, sans annoying Knights in her presence. One moment she was standing and the next, rising from the ground in an unfamiliar room surrounded by unfamiliar people.

The chattering of two particular individuals caught her attention right off the bat. Well, the chatter and the fact both of them exuded the energies of Negaverse officers, a comfort during uncertain times at the very least. While she may not have known either individual, knowing they had solidarity in their faction was....something.

"I'm going to presume that we're all in the same predicament," she offered as she approached the duo, arms falling behind herself as hands interlocked. Her stance was rigid, inability to relax apparent. "Aside from the lack of doors, it doesn't seem like we have much else to go on - does anyone remember anything significant before they fell asleep?"

Her nose scrunched up as she swallowed a sigh. It would have been nice if she herself could remember any details but everything about her afternoon had been mundane... until now.

"Angelite," she introduced, nodding her head to the higher ranked officer and the boy she presumed was under her, "Captain under General Obsidian."

Corrupt Sailor Cursa

Where had she been when the music started? Awake? Asleep? She was pushing herself too far again, stretching herself past her limits in the name of keeping up and not letting anyone down. Perfection and dedication came at a price.

Discussing her concerns with Otto-- that's what she'd been doing. Lying in her bed, phone hovering above her face in a room lit only by the 'fairy lights' she'd carefully hung from the walls. When they weren't busy with dance they were discussing their other team and its progress.

Violet Hawthorne had been drawn out of bed by the call of the music, only realizing that she was moving on her own when Otto's voice had broken through the daze. "The obelisk-- the monument. Do you hear the music? Meet me there? I--- I've got to go, Otto. Meet me there."

The chat disconnected, her phone left behind, Vi picked up her pen and slipped out. It would have been wise to alert her superior officers, but the compulsion was so strong that it pushed the thought from her mind. It would have only taken one more moment, and yet....

Cursa didn't recall seeing Lalande there amongst the fifty-seven. Swept up in the strange sound, she could feel the auras of so many others. One of them might have felt familiar-- was that him?

Her mind cleared as they were drawn inside, giving her enough clarity to know that she had made a terrible mistake in not communicating her location or intent to anyone other than Lalande. The Senshi of Ostriches drew out her com device, attempting to send a text-based message that found only dead space, lingering in the nothingness before returning to sender.

Safety in numbers. She could hear the sour b*****d's voice in her head, irritated by the fact that she knew just what sort of disappointed look would be on his stupid face.

Assess the situation. Cursa drew in a deep breath, pocketing her communication tablet after reducing it back to pen form. She wasn't alone. There were others here, Order and Chaos alike it seemed. The corrupt ignored all in favor of the General -- Zircon, the Lieutenant had called her?

Cursa approached the pair with purpose, waiting for a break in the conversation before interjecting. "You heard the song too?" That wasn't what she'd meant to say, but there it was. "My apologies for the interruption, General... Captain." God, she'd just trampled her way right into anything. Not the best way to introduce oneself to new superior officers.

Oops.

Sailor Lumen had been out doing something when he'd heard a strange sound, something like music, that changed the direction of his steps. For once he hadn't been out searching for ghosts, at least not the usual sort, but he couldn't exactly remember what he'd been doing.

Exploring?

Looking?

... Abstracta had been there somewhere but he'd lost sight of her when she'd taken off after something. She always got distracted but ... but now he was the one distracted.

He followed the music, hat shielding most of his view until he started to hear voices around him as well. Looking up he found himself at the foot of an obelisk that he'd never seen before. Surely something like this would be well known about in town? Surely someone like him would know about it?

"What...."

General Zircon

Now that Sinoite mentioned it, Zircon hadn't been sure she'd seen Sweetite at the monument at all following their initial investigation, the crowd too heavy and the haze on her mind too thick. Still, it felt wrong not to have her corrupt here, and Zircon pursed her lips, even as she nodded, releasing her grip on his arm.

"The tower must have been broadcasting some sort of frequency, one that could be heard from miles away," she nodded, glancing outwards towards the captain and corrupt that approached her. Angelite at least was a familiar face from the spars Labyrinthite had run, and she held herself with a certain tightness in her shoulders that Zircon recognized and felt herself. Obsidian was a name she hadn't heard in years, but it was telling that this quiet captain was training under the tutelage of a general she'd known to be...generously violent at best. It meant that if things went sour in these closed quarters, she could perhaps rely on a second combatant at her command.

The corrupt senshi had to be recently drafted, or perhaps under a superior officer who handled affairs a bit more casually, but Zircon came from a time when corrupts did not speak unless spoken to, and the glance she offered to Cursa was less than impressed. "I heard it, yes," she responded dryly, and considered it a mercy that a stare was all the corrupt would receive. There was an opportunity to teach here, but Zircon would not risk disciplining someone else's corrupt in the presence of hostile company. The fact of the matter was that if it came to blows, the odds were stacked against them, and she needed every agent of chaos on the same page.

"See if there's a pattern to the circuitry," Zircon called back to Sinoite, who she knew had an eye for detail. There were at least half a dozen tantalizing possibilities about the tower's ability to attune and call to what appeared to be strictly awakened individuals, but Zircon didn't have the time to indulge herself, not when she needed to be on high alert. To the other two, she pursed her lips, folding her arms behind her back. "Angelite, I want you to check the windows, see if there's an opening we might have missed. Senshi, you're with me unless otherwise noted. Are your abilities of any use here?"

They might have been outnumbered, but Zircon was going to be sure that they were the best organized of any representative party stuck in their predicament. Now that the panic was calming, her mind was at work--and they were going to get out of this alive.

Lieutenant Sinoite

The captain's introduction made Sinoite step back and cross his arms. Since his general had let him go, he assumed he was free to let her take charge. She seemed calmer now, and back to the business she handled so well.

"Good Evening Captain." He was nothing but polite to Angelite, and relaxed more that the negaverse group seemed to gather together, his gaze lingering on the order-ites of the little merry band. Since he wasn't directly addressed by the corrupt senshi, he moved to do as his general asked.

"I will do my best General." A gaze lingered on the corrupt, and then he was off, looking at the weird circuitry of the tower, where it did not match the outside of the tower. Hands running over the already humming pieces of the wall. It didn't seem to make much sense in the wall, but the odd hum made his mind turn. Perhaps they were in a ship of sorts? It would explain the random appearance of the tower that could only be seen by their powered sides and perhaps the melodic song. The answer?....Aliens.

DMS Super Ptolemaeus

Earlier that day, several members of Ptolemy's court had come together in order to investigate the monument that had appeared visible only to powered beings. They hadn't seemed to learn much other than that when they came up to it, the obelisk's surface appeared to become mirrored and echoed back an altered version of anything said around it. Ominous though this was, no harm had been done and nothing more had been discovered.

It wasn't until night when more major events began to occur. The super senshi had just been on his way home when the off-key melody penetrated his consciousness and caught him, mesmerized, like a deer in headlights. In the same way, he found himself blinded by a sourceless, golden light. His sense of smell was assailed by a gas he couldn't name and he felt the prickle of static electricity before that, too, was obliterated by nothingness. He became numb and might have panicked but for the unconsciousness that overtook him.

When he woke, he could feel again, but his senses were overwhelmed by the unfamiliarity of his new surroundings and companions. Ptolemy was, by now, far too familiar with finding himself in random situations during his time in Destiny City for his surprise to last. However, that didn't make him any less curious or intrigued.

He didn't mind people of other factions and never had. In fact, they fascinated him deeply and he relished in the opportunity to encounter so many of them in one place. Sure, upon closer inspection, they appeared to have been trapped there together. But what better chance to try to converse with them in a peaceful manner? Perhaps they could even try to work together in an attempt to escape their current predicament.

As was to be expected, the organized Negaverse officers were already congregating off to one side. Ptolemy grinned madly, clenching his jaws as if that were the restraint required to keep him from going right up to them and clapping them on the shoulders as friends. No one seemed to be attacking anyone so far, but it didn't seem like the wisest decision to simply stroll on over as if he were one of them.

Maybe in a bit, he consoled his eager self. Besides...if he watched and eavesdropped on them now, it would be easier to slip into their conversations later, supplied with a knowledge of their names and associations with one another. So that one is General Zircon...and that's Angelite...and their group is already systematically learning what they can of our circumstances. Definitely a group to check in on later.

In the meantime, he thought he could sense one of his own faction. Just one other, but that was still something. With a casual surveillance of the area, he thought he recognized his fellow Dark Mirror Senshi by his outfit and confirmed his guess with a check of his energy signature.

Clasping his hands behind his back, he sauntered up to him with a casual air as he grinned his Cheshire Cat grin. "I think that's the word on everyone's lips right now," he laughed, having caught question that had died before he finished. He appeared to have been directing it at someone else - a corrupt senshi joining the other Negaverse officers - but Ptolemy wasn't in the habit of waiting to be noticed. If he chose to ignore him, that was fine, but he at least wanted him to know a fellow court member was close at hand.

As you milled about the beige-colored room, gazing out at Destiny City you left behind, something in the obelisk begins to shake. It’s deep and hidden but you feel the shockwaves like a small earthquake in your room. No debris is falling from the ceiling, but the light inside the room seems to dim slowly over time. Soon, barely any light could be detected save for the heartbeat-like pulsing of the electrical wire patterns scouring the walls, floor and ceiling. For a scant few moments, the shaking stops and everything is eerily quiet. You can hear your breathing and something that smells distinctively like burning wires reaches your nose.

Suddenly, the wall opposite the windows begins to lift, stone-on-stone grinding filling the room as light slowly floods your eyes. A whirring sound, though slight, seems to fill the air. Light pulses through the electrical wire pattern throughout this room.

This new room is similar to the room you were trapped in, but much, much larger. The ceiling is thirty feet high in this rectangular room, and a singular black door, eight feet tall, stands at the far end.

[THE FIRST TASK]

Your objective is to reach the door on the other side of the room. This seems easy enough. Walk from Point A to Point B, right?

Except, when you try this… you smack straight into something solid. With that impact, the once-invisible walls become opaque and reflective. Strangely, your body does not leave behind any oily imprints one would usually find when touching glass or mirrors. Perhaps this is some other material…? Regardless, you can hear that humming again, and it’s getting louder. Lights from the electrical wire pattern seem to be congregating near your starting point, and that thought sends adrenaline straight into your bloodstream.

Welcome to your first task.

[The Rules]

Roll one (1) d10 for each post and follow these prompts:

  • Roll 1-3: You’re struggling to find your way through the labyrinth, running into dead-end after dead-end. The lights on the walls grow brighter and a laser zaps you somewhere on your body! As if this would motivate you. neutral Take 2HP damage.
  • Roll 4-7: You’re progressing decently, finding some sort of logic in this incredible circumstance.
  • Roll 8-10: You’re making excellent headway. Do you do mazes in your spare time?

[Special Rules!]
  • Negaverse Agents, Corrupted Senshi (who are a Captain/Super or higher) and Dark Mirror Senshi are able to carry one passenger in a bid to teleport through the maze. Dark Mirror Senshi find that they are able to Mirrorwalk through the strange material, but they cannot leave - they can only appear in another part of the maze. You can ONLY carry ONE passenger, and ONLY if you rolled 8-10. Otherwise, you cannot bring anyone with you.
  • The passenger ADDS +3 to their latest roll!
  • ANYONE can be your passenger, regardless of class or status.
  • You can roll once every half hour!
  • If you continue to roll 8-10, feel free to continue to bring passengers with you!

[Your goal is to reach a total of 60 for the group to escape into the next room.]

[The next step of the climb will begin in roughly 24 hours!]

Clementine didn't power up, nowadays, or at least she rarely did it unless she had Alise - as - Lepus by her side; she was scared, and she'd admit it, and she didn't want to think about it too hard. Sarabauite could have killed her. Even though it had been months and months ago, it still chimed bright in her head, how close she had come to dying - she was fourteen and she didn't want to die, hadn't ever thought of it as a possibility until that moment - everything had been too real, too terrifying to try.

So she didn't henshin up much, nowadays, and she kept her henshin pen somewhere safe where she didn't have to look at it too often.

The result of this was, of course: Clementine had no clue about the monolith. (She still didn't know about the Koronids and her court birthright, through chance and fate and missed connections, but that was a story for another time.) When she felt it calling to her, pulling her from her bed to find her henshin pen and slip into her second skin as Onnie, she let it happen - it felt like sleepwalking. It felt like a dream. Cats and dark-skirts and military uniforms, a spectrum of colored clothes, and then - bright - warm - blinding --

it was easier to not start freaking out if she thought of it all as a much longer dream, and she kept quiet, gazing at the assembled crowd with wide eyes until the harsh smell of burning wires hit her nose. A door. That was easy enough, right?

...apparently it wasn't, mostly because Onnie was coming to find she wasn't particularly good at invisible labyrinths after just waking up, and the zap to her upper arm had her hissing in pain.

Super Sailor Bestla
Group Total: 6/60

It was, Bestla thought, bad enough when she'd somehow been lured back to the weird ******** tower in the first place. Slightly worse when she'd suddenly found herself inside the damned thing and surrounded by Chaotic auras. But that had been easy enough to deal with by simply keeping off to the side and keeping her eyes open. But the lights flickering out, followed by that burning wire scent... now that had her worried.

But even that had paled once she'd stepped into the next room and managed to walk into a weird pane of glass. Still, running into the glass was at least kind of helpful since it helped outline where the paths were.

"Thank you, hours of Pokemon," she muttered. At least all her video games had helped her to have a decent idea of how to get through a maze challenge. And really, she wasn't doing too badly, all things considered. Still, she paused for a moment to study the area and see how everyone else was doing. Her eyes fell on a chibi senshi and she couldn't help the dismayed squeak that burst out of her.

"Oh geezus, kid," she called. "You okay? Can you get over here?"

Bestla paused and eyed the rest of their jolly little band. Negaverse could teleport. Maybe...? She knew Dark Mirrors could go through mirrors, but since she didn't see any of those, she let the thought go.

"Hey, one of you nega types! Do me a solid and get the kid out of here," she barked. "I mean, I've seen members of your lot blinking in and out of places before, I know you can do it. Might balance out your karma a little to help a little kid, y'know!"

Really, it wasn't fair how senshi like her couldn't have ******** fancypants ways of traveling. Otherwise, she could try to do it herself. As it was, all she could do was to keep trying to get through the maze and just keep a watchful and worried eye on the kid.

DM Sailor Lumen: - HP: 48
Room Total: 8

Lumen hadn't really expected an answer to his question and wasn't exactly in the right frame of mind to take one either when he heard a voice directed at him. Turning his head, one hand coming up to keep his hat in place, he looked over at the person speaking to him. Another Dark Mirror senshi though not one he knew.

Not that he knew anyone outside of his little group...

"It's kind of obvious everyone would be thinking that. Normal reaction to finding yourself somewhere you don't remember going and inside a weird room." He just barely managed not to roll his eyes. "Usually followed quickly by panic and disorder."

Which given how many people were in the room was bound to happen sooner rather than later. And he didn't really want to be around when that happened. "So if you don't mind ... there's probably a door somewhere we should be finding."

As Lumen turned the only think that saved him from smacking his face into one of the invisible walls was taking his hand down off his hat. That came into contact with the wall first and Lumen stopped short. Frowning he patted his way along the solid structure. "Invisible walls ... perfect."

In trying to find the end of the 'wall' he'd run into Lumen wasn't paying attention to anything else so when the lights flashed on he was still feeling his way along, gaining him a singed arm as one of the lasers targeted him.
