Winter Solstice Celebration! 1) demon/chimera by blackbird cake! 2) goblin/litch/imp by blackbird cake!
Opens: December 2nd Closes: December 31st, 11:59 PM EST
It's that time of year again. Winter Solstice means Gift Giving day is fast approaching. The Academy has put together a lavish event for the residents of Asphodel - under the stars! It seems the room is enchanted to have opened up the roof so everyone at the shindig may see the night sky, and it's rather romantic. How will you be spending this evening?
Prize Date Changes
Chimera/Demon Date: December 2-8 Goblin/Litch/Imp Date: December 9-15
How to play:
Every day you are allowed to roll for each of your Nightmares to receive a prize! You also can end up with a familiar, if you're lucky. However, you must RP your character receiving their prize, or doing something in the festival when you roll. It's suggested that while you can roll for every Nightmare you have, you only roll for the amount of responses you can handle! You can keep rolls in one post, or in individual posts. Roll a 20-sided die per Nightmare you're including in the ORP! You may grab a trinket (one per Nightmare each day) by default, but if you roll a number ending in 3, 6, or 9 you may also grab a plushie. If you roll a number ending in 5 you may grab a familiar! IF YOU ROLL A PERFECT 20 you can pick from the special prize pool! You can take both a cookie and one special familiar! Every week there will be one grand prize. We will post when each round is open. Each round lasts 7 days. When you roll each day you may select three of the numbers you rolled as the points you've earned that day. At the end of the week the person with the most points will win the grand prize! A customer may win only one grand prize in this ORP. You must label in your posts how many points you have. If you don't you will not be counted for the grand prize. Do not delete posts. We will disqualify you from the chance to win the Nightmare's if you do! You may RP quests! If you lack a Nightmare you are allowed to RP an approved quest within this game! If you have more then one quest, you are permitted three quests to play in this game. You are encouraged to create creative situations of your character receiving a prize! Characters may trade prizes without losing points! Only take one prize per each roll! You MUST tally your own points, else you will be disqualified. Only one of your NM/DDs' rolls will count for points, so please identify which one that is. NEW!!! At the end of the each specified time frame, if you have not already won a major prize and are interested in doing so, please PM Nightmare Ava with your final total for points for that round, with a link to the last post that qualifies you! You have until midnight EST of the next day to send this PM.

ONLY IF YOU ROLL A TWENTY!
Wow, the Nine must be smiling upon you. Here, have a cookie! Hey -- wait! That familiar just ran off with your treat blessed by the Nine themselves!! After them!

Gwendolyn took a deep breath, inhaling the cool evening air. Winter was upon them, the shortest day of the year announcing the shift in seasons. Gwen had decked herself out in seasonal flowers, poinsettia's around her waist, one in her hair and several dainty buds. If for no other reason, Gwendolyn was ready to celebrating the ending of one year, and the coming of another. For now, the priestess was off duty -- simply Gwendolyn the demon -- ready to relax and explore the festival as yet another pedestrian. It was unlikely anyone would notice her, save perhaps some of the other priests and priestesses Gwen had grown familiar with. It would hopefully be a quaint and warming experience. Gwen couldn't help but to wonder what or whom would cross her path, but the demon was open and welcoming to all who might wish to borrow her ear. -- For now, Gwendolyn decided to check out one of the local book stalls and see if there was anything that jumped out at her. Gwen was always eager to find another book to read for her off hours.

There were rarely days that priests got off from their work. There was always work to be done, people who needed assistance, charities to fund, and events to organize and support. However, there were a few exceptions each year that Josiah made for his days off, and the Solstice celebrations were a few of them. Josiah's tail swished lazily as he peered out in to the crowd under the starry sky, simply people watching as he nibbled his candy floss. Would Thorn come to meet him? Josiah hoped his lover was not too busy to spend an evening with him celebrating the Solstice. For now, Josiah would wait. He was content to watch the people pass and mingle, a small smile parting his lips.

Lisbeth, of course, had her nose in a book. Wandering around the festival left little to be desired. Everyone was paired off, either with a partner or with friends, and Lisbeth was ... alone. Of course she was. Lisbeth had spent her entire life dedicating herself to her love of books, chasing after a career that would allow her to surrounded by books, and still be able to pay the bills. So, Lisbeth became a librarian. To this day, Lisbeth preferred books to people. The only thing she liked just about as much as books and writing were plushies to cuddle while reading. Lisbeth had found a rather adorable that she just had to take home with her. But now, here Lisbeth was, wandering the festival holding an oversized plushie in one arm and a book in another, barely able to navigate the crowd without bumping in to people or stalls. Great idea, Lis, the librarian thought to herself. I should have just picked it up at the end.

Percy didn't know why he had come to the festival. Bismae was long gone, Jaxon and Percy were not exactly friends ... and the only two other people that Percy knew were Jaxon's age, and likely too young to to be out so late. Then again, a quick glance around and Percy saw freshlings and juniors alike slinking about. With the plethora of familiar's available, Percy's mind couldn't help but to wander towards Bismae. How was she doing? He had heard she had kids now and was doing quite well for herself. Meanwhile, Percy was back at the Academy -- and for the first time ever -- living on his own. It had humbled the spoiled prince of a cat. Percy was not nearly as glimmering in personality, and his chivalry was softer. He missed Bismae, and appreciated her all the more now that she was gone. Walking through the different stalls, glancing over what they had to offer, Percy spotted a few items in particular that reminded him especially of Bismae. Perhaps he would scoop a few things and mail them to her.

Kell hadn't realized how much he required the break from his studies. He had been cooped up in his study for some days, only ever leaving the room to eat, wash, and relieve himself. There was little time for much else, and Kell had taken several tonic to keep himself awake. A few worried friends had texted him, telling him he needed to get out of the house. Kell had rolled his eyes at the concerned messages, chalking it up to his peers simply not understanding the importance of his work. However, the air in the house had gotten stale, and Kell had finally run out of food. Either way, the hybrid was going to have to leave his house to acquire more sustenance. The festival just happened to be occuring at the same time as Kell's need to replenish his supplies. And Kell was deep in the thick of it. While he was here, he might as well pick something up for his beau.

Dorian was leaning against one of the partitions, watching the crowd and quietly observing. Sunder was probably lurking, shmoozing whomever he could. Dorian, on the other hand, was waiting around in case Sunder retained interest enough to come and find him. There was security wandering around, just in case. Dorian recognized a few who had retired from the force, offering barely half-smirks as eyes met and the retired officers continued on their rounds. It was an awkward evening, about as awkward as they could get ... Cerl Temius for bismae to add to her collection, even tho Dorian doesn't know her!!

Dice #1 is my point dice. BowieThere was just something fantastic about the solstice. Bowie liked dressing up, and it was fun to hang ornaments from his ears. Bowie was pretty surprised when he was handed a pair of bells when he first arrived at the party. "Hey sweet! These can hang from the hole in my horns." He thanked the little helper and hung the bells from his horns. He felt like a holiday tree, really! MiuMiu hadn't gone to a solstice festival since she was little, and she felt like a kid all over again! She wanted to hand presents to all the little children, and to play games, and... She blinked when someone handed her a book. She blinked at it then smiled. The Halfling, huh? This looked like a wonderful adventure! What a great gift! ZayeZaye wasn't fond of this time of year. It was cold and she felt like she had to bundle up/ Ugh, a body as perfect as hers shouldn't be covered up! She sighed, pulling the fur lining of her coat up around her neck a little tighter. It was too cold to celebrate. Mmmmh, maybe she needed someone to dance with. As she was thinking this, she felt something cold being dropped down the back of her coat. She shrieked and whirled around to stare at... a child holding a bucket of enchanted snowballs. She frowned before the child handed her a bucket. "Oh, that's how you want to play it? Well you better run, kid!" She grabbed the bucket and started running through the crowd, intent on hitting the child with the fake snowballs. Sphinx"Come oooooooooon!" Sphinx looked at her siblings and sighed. They were walking so sloooooooow! She wanted so much to just ditch them and have fun by herself, but she sighed and looked at Leto. She couldn't leave Jin with him. He was such a... DOWNER lately. She crossed her arms, pouting a little, her ears twitching as she waited for them. As she waited for them to catch up, she saw a table of treats, and after asking the near by adults if she could have one, she was given a bag of yummy brittle. She squealed and hugged it. OH! This was going to be a great day! VegaIt wasn't that he had to get out more... Actually, he was pretty sure his brother and sister would like it if he stayed in once in a while. But Vega just... COULDN'T stay in. Not for the solstice! Besides, this was a great chance to meet new people, and maybe... maybe he could get something nice for Leto. He looked at a table of presents, and while the bracelets were pretty, he wasn't sure. He picked one out for himself, pondering what to get for Leto. He just wanted to see him smile. As he thought that, Vega blushed a little. AsherOh, Asher wished that Kae had come with him. She would have LOVED this! There were glittery things and pretty dresses... Ah well. She had a deadline, and her manager was pretty scary. He would just enjoy it twice as hard for her! Ooooh, he should pick up some candy to motivate her. MeadowWell this was booooooooooring. Aurelia didn't seem to be around. Man, he needed more friends. Meadow sighed and looked around. There seemed to be the usual fare, lots of gifts, and a hell of a lot of sugar. He was sure he'd seen some familiars. Well, if this was like the other events he'd been to, people would be over run with them in no time... As he thought about it, he nearly ran into... HOLY NINE THIS THING WAS HUGE! A large blue familiar he hadn't seen before was staring at him. "Whoa, you're almost as big as I am!" But where did this thing belong? He slowly reached out to touch it. The large thing snorted and snapped it's head to the side as if to bite, but seemed to think better of it and simply let Meadow touch it. Well now... This was something his parents might need to keep an eye on for him... ah ha ha... But ooooh, wouldn't Aurelia be jealous? AvalonThis really wasn't Avalon's idea of a great way to spend the solstice. He would have liked to curl up with Ten and Suiravi... and possibly Felix and Sabera and Archimedes and just... snuggle. But Ten had asked him to come to the solstice celebration with him, and Avalon just couldn't say no. So here he was, totally out of his comfort zone, surrounded by strangers in a building... He sighed and grasped Ten's hand tightly as the fallen lead the way through the crowds. "Oh?" Avalon pulled Ten to a stop, and looked at a cute snowglobe. "Aw, look at this. They're building a snowman." He smiled. "It would be fun if you, Sui, and I spent a day playing in the snow like this." He mused, picking up the little treasure and smiling at it. TenHe'd been so nervous asking Avalon to come to the solstice party with him, but... Avalon had said yes. Really, the hybrid was just too GOOD for Ten, and he knew it, so it was so strange that Avalon loved him. Suiravi was right about that... Ten just didn't understand why. But... he wasn't going to question it. He could tell that Avalon was a little nervous about being out here with him, but the fact that he was willing to come showed how much Avalon cared... And Ten felt totally unworthy. He watched as Avalon stopped and looked at the snowglobe. Ah, he was really cute like this. Ten found himself blushing, and losing himself in thought before a blue mug of hot cocoa was gently pushed into his hands. He blinked in surprise as Avalon said that he looked cold, and then smiled, taking a sip. "Thanks... You're wonderful." He smiled at Avalon and they both blushed a little. NashiraIt wasn't like Nashira liked parties or anything. She hadn't gone to every party she possibly could. And it definitely wasn't the fact that she wanted to make friends, but really just... didn't know how. She felt so awkward when trying to talk to people she didn't know... Ah, she wished someone she knew was here. As she thought about this, a strange specterfox approached her. "Are you lost little one?" She reached out to touch it, and the fox rubbed against her hand. "That is a very fancy cape you have there... Mmmh, looks like it has a scepter insignia. How fetching." The fox seemed to like her. "Well... I don't think I am going to be very interesting company, but please, you are more then welcome to stay with me." Points: Day 1: 17

Luma stood taking in the sights. Her parents never let her come to the academy's festivals. Apparently when it comes to academics there is no room for slacking off. This year however she decided to sneak away and have some fun for once. Filled with excitement she began weaving her way through the crowd towards the first set of booths. She was imminently drawn to a booth with flashing necklaces. The way they glowed was very similar to her own bioluminescence. They had every color of the rainbow, but she ultimately decided on a purple one since that was her favorite color.
When she turned to leave she found herself accidentally bumping into a women who's arms were full of plushes of various sizes. She couldn't see her face and she wondered how the women could even see where she was going. The women apologized for being so clumsy and asked Luma if she would like a plushie. Luma graciously accepted and took what she referred to as a Grumpy Kitty plush from the top of the pile, careful not to cause an avalanche. She asked the women if she needed some help getting to where she was going but the women claimed she was fine and quickly headed off into the crowd.

Loki frowned as he looked around. He wasn’t entirely sure why he was out here at the festival. Oh yes he was booted out of his house, least he stay in there any longer and become fused with his chair. Mmm that and all that reading of small print had started to give him a headache. Of course the loud sounds from the bustling of festival goers weren’t helping matters too much. However it wasn’t as if he couldn’t deal with the headache. When was the last time he was really at a festival? Might be nice to actually wander around and get a few things as proof he was actually here. His housekeeper would probably let him back in, oh wait landlord. Suddenly a book was shoved into his hands and the culprit ran off giggling. Giggling of all things. It was then he was pretty sure he saw a familiar shade of red. Hmm should he get closer before yelling a name out over the crowd? ------------------ Huginn frowned and looked around the festival. He had come with some of his siblings, but it had looked as if the crowd had swallowed them up for the most part. All there was before him where stalls and people running about and no family in sight. In fact there was no one he knew in sight. It was kind of daunting. However if he stood there waiting for a glimpse of a family member then the whole trip would be a waste. Everyone was pretty safe after all. So he should try to enjoy the festival right? Apparently someone else thought he should go enjoy the festival as well because he was suddenly given a bag of candy before the gift drifted off into the crowds. Ah well at least it was something to munch on right? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Melusine wasn’t sure what she was doing here. After all she was much happier on a beach of some sort even if lately she lived by a lake but there was just something about festivals and the magic of it that had seemed interesting. While often she avoided large crowds for the sheer amount of mutations she had, people were always more accepting and giving during the winter solstice or so she had heard so here she was wading through the crowd of people. Personally the whole trip was worth it, due to the enchanted ceiling. She loved stars just as much as she loved water. While she was busy looking at the starry spectacle, a freshling tugged on her skirt and handed her a plushie that was in her colors. She patted them lightly on the head and watched as they ran back into the crowd giggling. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leto barely refrained from uttering a sigh, or at least he was pretty sure he was able to refrain from sighing. This was the first huge outing after his accident and he probably shouldn’t have tried an event this huge. Everything was jarring and though he was hiding his depression and shakiness from his younger siblings. He was pretty sure he wasn’t fooling them if the rather watery eyes Jin was giving him were any indication. He knew that he was also being a downer for sphinx and was about to unleash her upon the crowd with the rules to check in every hour and to be careful. He knew most of the times festivals were safe if his own experiences being by himself were any indication. Suddenly there was a rather heavy thud against his leg and he looked down to see jin. She had been trying to sign to him for a while he supposed and he was suddenly handed a portable white board and a plushie ‘the plushie is for you. Try to have fun or I am having sphinx track down Vega’ was the note on the blackboard. “Jin……” ----------------------------------------------------- Okay he could do this. It was a festival, and the perfect time to get used to crowds. Well that wasn’t entirely true, it wasn’t as if he wasn’t used to crowds but it was more he tried to go and then Orias proved he was one of the biggest buts in the world and started problems. Said tail just kind of ignored him as he had this kind of crisis. However he wanted to go to the festival and so he was going to. Just needed to storm out there and… and get a new tail. Orias once again made irritated noises before starting to head but him further into the festival. Gavriel tried smacking him only to get his fingers nipped in retaliation. However his efforts did get him rewarded with a plushie from an amused vendor. Yeah well it was one way to start the night. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Oran frowned and looked around. Hmm no nibbling, no older brother, no older sister in law. Okay so Lau wasn’t her sister in law yet, but it was only a matter of time. Still she was pretty sure she was supposed to meet at least one family member here. Yeah… no family to be seen. Then again there were familiars everywhere and people getting into the spirit of winter and giving. Maybe they were just swallowed up by the crowd. Still that did leave her in a bind. After all now she was pretty much by herself and suddenly had a lack of things to do. Last time she had lost her family was that haunted hallows. Yeah she wasn’t going there. She sat on a bench hoping one of them would pop out of the wood work but alas… no family still. A junior did walk by and give her a plushie though. Huh it was kind of adorable. Then again anything bat was adorable.

Cecelia sat watching the people walk by. Her and some other Grendal graduates had been recruited to perform live music during the festival. While Cecelia didn't mind showing off her classically trained abilities she was getting tired of playing the same seasonal tunes over and over. This was surely a waste of her talents. The conductor had called for a break so she decided to get a cup of hot chocolate. It was a lot colder than she had anticipated and she surely hadn't dressed for the occasion. For a moment she was rather envious of the academy students. It seemed everyone at the festival was happy and having a lot of fun while she was stuck playing entertainer. Taking one last sip of her warm beverage she returned to her chair and picked up her violin. It was going to be a long night.

Don Belldoor cackled entering the winter solstice party. He wasn't sure how they approved such a senile old man to chaperone, perhaps they just couldn't tell such a sweet old man no. He looked around seeing the academy students gathering around punch bowls prize tables, he didn't see anyone that he really recognized. Rubbing his hands together he surveyed the crowd, who to target for his companion for the night? With that being said he walked up to the first person that he saw. "Great night for a party!" he smiled. Offering a handout but bowing at the same time he tipped his hat. "The name is Don, Don Belldoor. Perhaps you've heard of me?"

Contessa looked around the room before shuffling uncomfortably on her heels. She was wondering if her bestie AJ would be making an appearance. She always felt awkward when he wasn't around, she was generally terrible at socializing. That was when she was approached by a strange beast she had never seen before. It looked at her and she looked at it. It took a step toward her and she stood blankly staring at it. It shoved its head on her hand and she looked down at it blinking slowly. "Well hi."
