The mouthwatering smell that proliferates through the fair is strongest here at the Canterbury Kitchens. While food stalls spot the grounds throughout, here you can find restaurants and renaissance specialties. Tents and even a few makeshift buildings have been set up to give customers shelter and a cool place to relax while they await their meals. If you prefer to eat outside or just sit down while eating some food from one of the various, quicker stands, there are benches everywhere, so just pick a seat! Additionally, there are a few places that allow you to make your own food, and there are even two attractions on either side of the area that offer cooking classes, and will instruct you through a full course meal-- which you get to eat as you go! Of course, games are still available, but there are also a few clear areas for people to lounge in the grass and let their pokemon relax. There are even a few taverns for the older crowd, where drinks and refreshments can be found, and a lively atmosphere is maintained with live music and conversation.

Zak was content letting subjects slip away as the focus shifted to Scarlett's next plan. He didn't miss that she was being vague, but he didn't particularly mind, either. If he wanted to know what she was going to be doing, he could find out. He had a tracker on her, after all. He hadn't... really bothered using it, or he might have been able to easily confirm that she had, in fact, at least been in the area of the gym and removed any doubt that she just stole the badge, but he did have it. Not to mention, at this point, he was pretty sure he could send a pokemon to follow her -- Meebus or Rufflet, perhaps -- if he didn't just do it himself. Or, he could always just try the old fashion way, and try and talk the information out of her. Unless it was particularly sensitive information, he was fairly confident he could get her to at least give something up.
More important to him, though, was the fact that she defined this as her break. She was still an investment, after all, and even though anything with a brain could see that was becoming a gross over simplification of what was going on, some part of him still found it reassuring (on some level, whether it was self-convinced or not) that she intended to continue training. A smirk crossed his face, but not a sly, obnoxious smirk; a lighter one, more appreciative and humored. "You're goeng to become kvite ze force to be reckoned vis at zis rate, Mishka," he remarked. Which meant that he would have to make sure to stay on top of his own game as well, but he wasn't too concerned just yet. He was fairly certain he still had time to train up his lower leveled pokemon, given how much time it had taken him to get his own pokemon up to their current status. Still, though... he would have to try and check in with her a bit more regularly, make sure he wasn't about to lose his lead.
Speaking of pokemon, he glanced over as Daeva came up on his other side, giving a low sort of rumbling growl. Either she was annoyed at being neglected, or she was just pouting for some attention. He couldn't really tell; the Spiriake wasn't very expressive, aside from obvious dislike, and great, grinning enjoyment. He reached over and patted her head, his gaze sliding back over as Scarlett engaged in some discussion with a nearby murkrow. He raised an eyebrow. Cute. How much of that was just a show, anyway? He glanced down to try and note how many 'tips' the bird had, exactly, but kept his free hand firmly in his pocket. He didn't tip pervert pokemon, witty as it was. "Catching ze attention of all ze men, Mishka," he remarked as they continued on their way, "Bos human and pokemon. Zat must be an enteresting skeel to have." He was poking fun a bit, but honestly, how could he not? She had just been hit on by, quite literally, a bird brain. The jokes were endless, but he was keeping it light and playful.
"At zis rate, maybe you can get us a discount on our food," he added with a slightly more amused smirk, "Not zat I don't mind paying ze full price." He figured he might as well clarify it before it came up-- the food, and maybe the drinks, were on him.

Scarlett gave Zak a small confident smile when he suggested she would be a force to be reckoned with at the rate she was going. "Damn right." She chuckled. Honestly her main reason for wanting to continue her training was to catch up with Zak. She didn't like the fact that in a battle he would probably easily overpower her, so if she could level the playing field a bit, she would at least have the option of fighting him off if for some reason things dissolved between them. It may not have seemed like it was an issue now, but you could never be too careful, especially with a man like Zak. As they walked, one of Zak's pokemon grumbled irritably, drawing closer to her trainer. Scarlett wasn't sure what kind of pokemon she was still, but she had seen it with him before, and it seemed almost jealous, or at the very least unhappy that Zak was essentially ignoring it. Scarlett chuckled a bit at that. On some level, she understood, but on the other hand she wasn't going to throw pity at the dragon, because she was perfectly content to have all of Zak's attention right now. Scarlett seemed to get some attention herself from another pokemon as well, a murkrow specifically. After the little bit of interaction and settling things with the bird's caretaker, she made her way into the kitchen area of the fair, where the food smelled the strongest.
Zak of course started right off by commenting on the fact that she caught the attention of all men, both human and pokemon. He was trying to poke fun at her, but Scarlett didn't take offense. "Hey, I'll take any compliments I get. It's not like pokemon can't appreciate good looks when they see them~" She smirked. "Besides, I'm sure you would feel the same if a pokemon complimented you, knowing your ego, so I don't think you're in any position to judge." She teased back, nudging him a bit with her shoulder. She laughed as he suggested that maybe she could get a discount on their food. "Darling, I could get us free food if I really wanted to, there's no "maybe" about it." She smirked. "But I'm not that desperate, especially if you're offering to pay." She suggested. "Besides, I'd much rather save those charms for you a stór." She purred.
Scarlett turned her gaze to him somewhat. "By the way... You said this was only part of my reward. Do I get to know the other part, or is it a surprise for later?" She asked curiously. She wouldn't have minded either way, but she wanted to know his planned. Gamma and Dotty had followed their trainer from a distance, but now that they had reached their destination and the two were looking around for food options, the two returned to their games. Gamma tried his hand at the bean bag toss this time but didn't do very well, while Dotty tried to break plates by tossing rocks. Her telekinesis was pretty accurate, and she ended up breaking all three platters, scoring her a whopping six tickets.

Oh yes, Scarlett's goal was the very same as Zak's concern, and on at least some level, they probably both knew it. Which was why, after this, Zak would be hitting training hard. Maybe he could dig up some more incense, lucky eggs, GS balls, the like, to help boost things. He would figure it out. Either way, he didn't plan to rush himself, because he did want to train Rota and Rufflet and the others, and he wanted to get them about up to par with the others. Scarlett probably had some variety to her team, after all... he wanted to make sure he did the same, even if there were, admittedly, some redundancies. Just to be on the safe side, though, it was better to be prepared.
As they left the flirting pokemon, Zak grinned, rolling his eyes a bit, but not in a completely dismissive way in response to Scarlett's point. If anything, the slight nod that accompanied it seemed to suggest some concession to the point. "I'm not judging," he replied, looking back to her with a smirk, "Ef anysing, it's nice to know I'm vis ze voman getting all zis attention." He raised an eyebrow at her, then looked ahead, before making his comment about her using her skills to get him a discount. He let a lopsided grin cross his face, flashing white teeth as he looked ahead, very close to accusing her of being a bit cheap. When she mentioned saving her charms for him, however, he turned a side gaze to her, grin turning into a very satisfied smirk. "... Zat sounds like a fair deal to me," he decided, slipping his arms around her shoulder again. He was very damn near leaning over to kiss her neck, too, but rolled his own shoulders instead, trying to quite literally shrug off the urge, and focus on what she was saying next.
... Funny she should mention that. He looked at her a moment, his smirk a bit smug, and a bit amused, and let the question linger a moment. Finally he leaned over, lifting his hand to tilt her chin a bit, slowing so they didn't trip. "I'm afraid et's a surprise, Mishka," he purred in return, bringing himself very close, before stepping back, and nodding. "Now zen, vat vould you like to eat?" He flashed her a bit of a grin, clearly acknowledging the tease, but kept his arm around her shoulders for the time being. He already had his other hand in his pocket, ready to pull out money for when she decided on what she felt like.

Scarlett smiled smugly as Zak accepted the truth of her comment in his own amusing way, rolling his eyes and grinning with a slight nod, insisting that he wasn't judging. Scarlett chuckled, humming thoughtfully as he suggested it was good to know he was with the woman who got all this attention. "Yes, I s'pose it does make a statement about yerself, doesn't it?" She mused rhetorically, entertained by the idea of using her charms to get them a discount, or as she corrected, for free if she really wanted to. Leaving things at that would have made it too easy for him to comment on or criticize though, so Scarlett quickly made it clear that she wasn't that desperate, and besides, she wanted to focus her charms on him instead. That seemed to be the right answer, since whatever Zak had been tempted to say before had now vanished into a satisfied smirk as he put an arm around her shoulders once again, commenting that it seemed like a fair deal. Scarlett grinned a charming smile, enjoying this back and forth quite thoroughly. It was just the right mix of sass and flattery that made things lighthearted and entertaining without it coming off too strong or needy. The conversations between them flowed so well like this, and Scarlett was amazed she'd found someone who complimented her own flirting style so well. It was almost a shame their partnership, or dare she say relationship, was so on the rocks, but the unpredictability was half the fun, at least to Scarlett.
However, her curiosity could no longer be contained, so she brought up the topic of her reward once again, pointing out the fact that he'd said this fair was only part of it, and inquired as to what the other part was. He pondered over her question, tilting her chin towards him a bit more before explaining that it was going to be a surprise, drawing a bit closer. Scarlett gave a small, sly, wanton smile. "It's okay, I like surprises..." She murmured, indulging in the closeness while it lasted, but then there was the matter of what she wanted to eat. She looked him over contemplatively for a moment, a wry smile on her lips before turning her attention to the food stalls on display. There were some normal stalls of food with familiar meals if people didn't want to experiment with medieval food, but Scarlett figured if she was here, she may was well go all the way. "I'm hanekrin' far somethin' a little more authentic. Mutton and mead actually sounds great right now." She indicated a makeshift pub nearby with lively music. "I hope ya feel like dancin'." She warned with a grin. She didn't mind eating first, but with music in the air and a bit of alcohol she knew that she'd probably drag Zak into a dance or two, or at least she'd certainly try.
Since Gamma had chosen so poorly on the rapidash races last time Dotty decided to send him off to try the crossbow range again while she looked over the rapidash for the upcoming race. This seemed to be the right way to go about it because in the end, they'd each earned a large number of tokens, which, when added to the stack that Dotty was levitating, was getting quite large, so Dotty moved to an attendant, spelling out C-U-P? and moving the tokens in front of her to indicate that she wanted something to carry all of the tokens in. The attendant handed her a large popcorn bin and, delighted, Dotty set their tokens inside, letting Gamma carry it for her. This would give them plenty of room to carry all of their earnings.

Looking for another game to play, Dotty noticed a Tympole catapult in this area as opposed to the froakie one she had played earlier. Given that she'd already tried her hand at it, she decided to let Gamma take a shot, feeding him instructions via binary before moving aside and taking their bucket of tokens for the time being. Raising a fist, Gamma slammed down on the catapult and launched the stuffed tympole an impressive ten feet, which made Dotty flutter in surprise. That was a lot further than she had been able to launch her froakie... Wow! He was strong! Gamma seemed to have no reaction whatsoever to his success, taking his tokens as they were given and dispensing them into their bucket rather mechanically, but Dotty was expressive enough for the both of them, numerous zeros and ones popping above her head as she babbled happily and made little bubbly noises in glee, leading the charge to the next game.
Her cheery mood dropped however when her eyes fell on the last remaining game in the area, which was yet another berry bobbing station. At first Dotty tried to convince Gamma to do the game, but he remained still, silently and stoically refusing to go near the water. It was understandable for the ground type, but nevertheless frustrating for Dotty, who had to suck it up and try the game again. This time she came out better, with three lum berries rather than just one. Perhaps she was improving? Regardless, Dotty was satisfied with her achievement and tossed the tokens and lum berries into their bucket.

And Zak was all about making statements about himself. If he could turn something around to make it a compliment on himself, he almost always would. Of course, at the moment, he was being much more complimentary towards Scarlett. But hey, it was her reward, wasn't it? Which meant that for now, he would let the focus be on her, and he would give her more of his attention, so long as he was receiving some in return. Still, though, even with all his 'generosity', he had to keep some of what was to come to himself, but somewhat to his surprise, Scarlett seemed rather okay with that. "Really now?" he mused in amusement, while they were still close, "And here I vould have sought you'd be ze kind of girl who preferred knowing everysing...." He was somewhat joking, but, then again, she had tried to tease information out of him before, so it wasn't completely a baseless accusation. Besides... they seemed to share certain interests... and he wouldn't be surprised if having some control was one of those. But perhaps she was a bit more willing to play along and see how things went...
He didn't miss the once-over she gave him after he gave his question, and again, his lips curled into a grin, though he turned his gaze ahead to keep it from getting too big as he looked at her. She sure did know how to stroke his ego... Rolling his shoulders a bit, he flashed her a look, reaching up to place his sunglasses atop his head. "Really? Mutton? Alright," he agreed, and started to look for a place. Scarlett beat him to it, and admittedly, the smirk on his face fell a bit at the music. He arched an eyebrow and shot her a side glance at the comment. "Danceng is... not really my sing..." he muttered, but then closed his eyes, scratching the back of his head with a shrug. He dropped his arms, flashing a slight smile. "But eef zat's how you vant to spend some uv your revard, I suppose I can try." Oof, she was pushing it, though. He wasn't sure how much more 'generosity' he would have if she really made him dance. Especially in public. To that music.

Scarlett chuckled somewhat at Zak's intrigue as she insisted that she liked surprises, since he'd seen her as someone who preferred to know everything. She didn't blame him for thinking that. In all honesty she did hate when she didn't know something, and she was irritated that she had found next to nothing but a few leads on how to find out some information about Zak in her searches. That was different however, because this was information that she likely wouldn't ever figure out unless Zak told her, which he didn't seem likely to do. "Tha's the thing about surprises... Eventually you find out." She grinned. There was that, and additionally the fact that it was a reward, which indicated that she would like whatever it was, so she was willing to be more patient.
When asked what she wanted to eat, Scarlett purposefully made sure her once over was obvious and noticed by Zak, indicated by a grin as he looked on ahead. Only then did she look over the other options, eventually deciding that it was best to go authentic and order up some mutton and mead. He seemed somewhat surprised by her meal choice, but accepting of it at least. He seemed hesitant when she mentioned dancing though, suggesting that it wasn't really his thing, but that he would try if that's how she wanted to spend some of her reward. Scarlett just laughed. "Somehow that doesn't surprise me. Daen't worry, it'll be fun and easy, I promise." She insisted, though it was interesting to see Zak out of his comfort zone. With that smug confidence gone, it was actually kind of cute the way he hesitated to agree with her proposal. If it cost her some of her reward, it would be well spent, at least in Scarlett's opinion. "Besides, you'll have me far a partner." Scarlett grinned, because after all, a good dance partner made all the difference.
Zak insisted that they start with the food at least, and more importantly some mead, breaking away to take the lead in. "Oh alright~" Scarlett laughed again, picking up her pace to follow after him. Maybe some alcohol would help him loosen up a bit to the idea of dancing with her. They made their way inside under the large tented establishment and glanced around. There was an open space in the middle made for the dance floor and several tables surrounding it, many of which were filled, but there were still quite a few tables open for the pair to take their pick. "Come on, I see a good table over there." Scarlett insisted, pointing out a table on the opposite side of the band near the dance floor but still far enough away so that there wouldn't be any issues with dancers bumping into them or otherwise disturbing their meal. She took his hand with a bit of a mysterious smile, leading them both over and taking a seat. Just as the song that had been playing reached it's end, a waiter came to take their orders, allowing for clearer communication without having to shout over the music. From their position it wouldn't be too hard to hear even if the music were playing, but it was nice to use the break in music to their advantage. If the music started up again during any conversation though, they might have to resort to leaning in close to hear each other better. Not that Scarlett would mind having to do that....

Zak raised an eyebrow, tilting her head at her argument on surprises. "... Fair point, Mishka," he admitted, the smile that slipped onto his face giving away his appreciation for the cleverness. Not just the consistency of her personality, but the fact that, by answering like that, she essentially also confirmed his assumption. Which made their situation all the more enjoyable to him. After all, as far as he was aware, she still didn't know his name. And... he now knew hers. At some point, he would really have to mentioned that, but he wanted to wait for the right timing. He would probably put it off until much later... just in case, when it came up, it happened to... ruin the mood. He didn't want to do that before she got her proper reward, after all....
Which, at this point, was looking like it might mostly get spent on dancing. Honestly, if she really carried through with this, he would feel perfectly justified doing nothing more than buying her a stuffed teddy bear or something at the end of the festival, and having that be her 'surprise'. But, then again, that was far less fun than all the other things they could do instead.... "You're eenteresting, Mishka, but dancing es steel dancing," he drawled back, smirking. He tried not to protest overly much, but he really wasn't especially looking forward to it. Especially not to this kind of music. He'd danced before, but certainly not to this, and he eyed those patrons who were out moving to the music as they arrived, evidently studying their style.
As she took his hand, he glanced down, quirking an eyebrow and looking at her curiously. What was that smile...? Was it because she somehow knew he'd been on the verge of doing the exact same thing? Or was there something else up her sleeve... He followed her with interest, sliding into his seat and giving a downward side glance at her as she presumably did the same. He looked up as a waiter approached at the end of the music, placing the prop gun against the table and leaning back a bit, giving the man a nod in greeting. He let Scarlett go first, then ordered himself some soup and-- paused. Dammit.... did he have his fake ID with him? Faking a consideration, he gave a dismissive wave and ordered their strongest alcohol, keeping it vague to pretend he couldn't quite make up his mind, and that was the reason for his hesitation. Hopefully the place didn't card... annnnd hopefully if they did, he could either cover his ID just so that it hid the month-- he would be hitting 21 soon anyway-- or he'd have his fake ID with him.
With that (hopefully) handled, he turned his focus his focus back to Scarlett, or more specifically, her clothes. "I didn't notice before, Mishka," he remarked, reaching over and hooking a finger in the slit on the side of her pants, an amused, somewhat flirty smirk on his face, "But zis just looks loosely cross stitched togezzer... Es et just one piece of fabric loosely kept togezzer on either side?" He didn't try and keep his fingers from brushing her leg as he pulled his hand back, though he was either masking the flirty gesture as if he'd done nothing, or he was genuinely asking, because his expression looked more amused and interested than wolfish. Or perhaps he was doing a bit of both.

Scarlett grinned as Zak accepted her point about surprises, not too terribly focused on how much he seemed to enjoy her answer. It seemed questionable, but she wasn't afraid that she was giving away too much with it. As she mentioned dancing however, it became quite clear that Zak wasn't really looking forward to it as much as Scarlett was, and in spite of her reassurances, she insisted that dancing was still dancing. "Fair enough." Scarlett shrugged, dropping the topic for now and focusing on finding them a table while Zak studied the dancers to get an idea of what he might be doing in the near future. Scarlett found a table, though noted that he was at least making an attempt to figure out how to dance with her, and smiled a peculiar grin as she took his hand and led him to the table she'd spotted. She kept only minimum attention on where she was going, mostly focused on Zak and the interesting look he was giving her, as if he were trying to figure her out. It was amusing, and she silently wished him luck with that as they took their seats and ordered their food.
Scarlett asked for mutton and mead, as she had expressed wanting to Zak before, and then Zak himself simply ordered some soup and paused, appearing to debate what to have for a drink before dismissively asking for the strongest alcohol they had available. Scarlett didn't think anything of it. As far as she knew, Zak was old enough to drink considering he'd bought himself, Scarlett and Cyrus drinks back in Nimbasa. Their waiter seemed swayed too, given their comfort in ordering alcohol and older appearances, taking the orders and heading off to whip them up. Soon after, Zak spoke up, weaving a finger through the loose stitches of her pants and pointing out the design, since he hadn't noticed before. Scarlett smirked at his interest. If she didn't know any better, she would have thought it was only curious interest in the clothes, but the way he played with them made the intent obvious. He was flirting, and Scarlett thoroughly enjoyed how calmly and effortlessly he did it. She hummed in thought, glancing down at his hand for a moment before answering. "It is~ That's tha way a lot of clothing was made around tha' time period. Somewhat simple, typically one long piece, baggy cloth, er ifn ya wanted to bind things up 'round the bodice, ya used leather laced together with string." Scarlett explained nonchalantly, chuckling a bit as he brushed his finger up against her leg as he pulled his arm back.
The band struck up again, and Scarlett was reminded of her earlier inquiry. She leaned a bit closer over his shoulder, placing a hand on his thigh and sliding her palm up to his knee to keep her new position stable. "So what do ya have against dancin' anyhow...?" She asked curiously near his ear to make sure she could be heard clearly. It was fun, like sharing secrets in a crowded room that no one could hear or see. Aside from the obvious and easy chance to continue flirting and keep Zak in a good mood, she was honestly curious. On some level she understood. She certainly didn't peg Zak for a dancer, but she did have to wonder if there was a specific reason. If anything, it was just small talk until their meal arrived.

Zak smiled when Scarlett entertained his question about the clothing, and he kept his gaze on her even as he withdrew his hand. He quirked an eyebrow when she gave a rather elaborated answer, though. Sure, she'd clearly known the 'authentic' food, and she was clearly perfectly fine with the music, and the dance style, and maybe those should have been tip offs, but he hadn't really expected her to have even more knowledge on the clothing. "Vell... zat's vone vay to get your partner ento bondage," he remarked smirkingly. He shifted back in his seat a bit, placing one arm over the back of his chair. "I'm surprised you know so much about zis, Mishka..." he remarked with a raised eyebrow. He thought a moment, then gave an absent gesture. "Didn't zey have corsets back zen?" he asked. It was actually a bit surprising he seemed to be continuing the conversation, considering he really did seem to be flirting more at first. But, Zak had some odd interests, or at least, moments of curiosity.
The look on his face briefly flickered to annoyance as the music started up and he glanced at the band, but he brought his attention back as he felt her fingers slide over his leg. The expression quickly turned to a smirk, his eyes half lidded as he looked back at her, apparently considering her question-- and their proximity. He shifted, moving his arm to rest on the back of her chair, still reclining back in his relaxed pose, but now focusing his attention entirely on her. "I prefer to keep my moves for more private moments...." he purred in that flirting, sultry way. He seemed to concede out of it to a moment of honesty after delivering the line, though, shrugging a little and looking back towards the dance floor. "Actually, et's just not really my sing. Not vis an audience, at least. I don't like to feel like I'm performeng eef et's not somesing I thoroughly enjoy doing," he answered, though a frown crossed his face. Even that wasn't completely it, though. He seemed to be struggling to really answer it properly. Mostly because he didn't even really know. He didn't... entirely mind dancing, but it was also a bit too... intimate? Involved? Even dirty dancing wasn't something he enjoyed that much. But when the timing was right, and the person was right, he didn't really mind. It just... varied.

Scarlett laughed at Zak's initial response to her explanation, nodding lightly in agreement before he commented n his surprise in how much she knew about these things. "I like history." Scarlett suggested with a shrug. "It was one of my favorite subjects in school." School here being used as a relative term. For the most part she was homeschooled by her father, and it was mostly history, with language and writing on the side, since she took an interest in archeology and her father's studies immediately. There was no need to go into that much detail of her life though. Zak inquired a bit further, asking if they had corsets back then as well. "Mm, that they did. I wouldn't be surprised if a few dedicated folk 'round here were wearin' em. Personally I think they're a bit too stiff far my tastes, but that's what they're supposed to do. It was actually mare of a back brace than a fashion at first, meant to be worn under the clothes to help shape the body." She mused, not seeming to mind giving the history lesson if he really was just curious, even if at first it had seemed more like a flirting gesture.
As the band struck up again, Zak looked rather annoyed, causing Scarlett to chuckle and distract him with her own little flirtatious gesture to improve his mood. It seemed to work, his attention honed on her now as he debated her question with a smirk before answering with a lewd remark instead, suggesting that he liked to save his moves for more private moments. "Ah, prefer dancing in tha dark, do ya...?" She asked rhetorically with a small grin, but then listened as he actually gave it more thought and answered honestly. Or, at least, he tried, and still didn't seem exactly sure of his answer, but Scarlett at least appreciated his attempt, and, to some degree, understood what he was trying to say. "Hm~ I s'pose I can understand that." She hummed thoughtfully, which seemed to provoke a dry look as he asked if she still planned on making him try. Scarlett smirked, as if she were tempted to say yes, but glanced away, her smart expression softening a bit as she gazed at the crowd. "Nah... As fun as it would be to see ya out of yer comfort zone, ifn you really daen't want to, I won't force ya.... but you owe me a dance neu." She chuckled. "Maybe later, when we don't have a crowd. It don't even have t' be a renaissance dance." She offered as a trade, glancing him over to gauge his reaction.
Soon after, their food came, and was set on the table, so Scarlett gave Zak's knee a gentle squeeze before pulling away to take in her meal. The mutton was sitting in a stew of broth and carrots, and she had a nicely sized mug of mead to go with it, which she took a sip of before peering over at Zak's mystery drink, since he had simply told them to bring him the strongest drink they had. "So what'd they end up givin' ya?" She asked with mild curiosity.

Zak raised an eyebrow and smiled in amusement at her answer, but it wasn't the same cocky, entertained smile. It was a bit lighter. "And here I sought I vas a nerd..." he remarked playfully. So she was a history geek, and he was a computer nerd. Huh. He raised an eyebrow as he continued listening to her little lesson on Renaissance clothing. His expression was neutral, showing he was listening, but after a moment a smirk started to cross his face. "Vell, Mishka, you continue to surprise me," he remarked, reclining back in his seat, "I knew you had a brain behind zat pretty face of yours, but I didn't kvite realize how much enformation it held. You're a little treasure trove of trivia, aren't you?" It was a compliment, a playful one, but a compliment all the same. One that he even passed up making some innuendo on 'shaping bodies' to give.
Which, of course, meant he couldn't pass up the next opportunity to slip in a little something suggestive. Which, of course, Scarlett immediately picked up on, giving her own little remark back. He smirked back, basically confirming the rhetorical question, and moved on to try and give a more sincere answer to her previous one. It wasn't something he could pinpoint well, though, especially given he was far from the self-reflective type, but apparently what he managed was enough to get the general point across. Surprisingly enough, it was also apparently enough to make her think twice about making him dance with her, and he smirked at her compromise. "Vat a generous offer, Mishka..." he murmured, reaching a hand up, brushing his fingers against her cheek and back into her hair. He leaned a bit closer, smiling a seductive, smug smile. "I suppose I can accept zose condeetions..." Letting the words roll off his tongue, he pulled back, withdrawing his hand and looking over as their waiter brought over their food and drink.
He completely pulled away from her to draw his closer, glancing over as she sipped her drink, and picking up his own. "Don't know," he admitted, smelling it, and then taking a sip. He licked his lips setting it back down. "S'good, zo." He pushed it over, moving to draw his soup in, and offering the drink to her. "Vant to try?"

Scarlett made a somewhat indignant but amused noise as Zak essentially called her a nerd. "Oh hush!" Scarlett laughed, having half a mind to flick him for that, but decided against it in favor of further elaborating on the fashions of the renaissance period. Zak seemed pleased with her answer, commenting that she continued to surprise him. "Hm~ Stick around, I'm full of 'em." Scarlett gave a sly grin to accompany her comment. He explained himself, suggesting that he knew she had a brain, but underestimated the wealth of knowledge it possessed. "But a'caurse. A pretty face only goes so far. Throw brains in tha mix, and that's when things get really interestin'." She smirked, laughing a bit as he commented on her being a little treasure trove of trivia. "You bet, though I'd like ta think I'm a treasure trove in the general sense~" She suggested with a grin, though nonetheless appreciating his compliment. Her wealth of knowledge was more selective than he probably thought, but she wasn't going to let him think that. She just happened to know and love learning about a lot about history, culture, languages, and the like, all of which was necessary for an archeologist of her calibre.
As she inquired about his dislike of dancing however, his suggestive remark was amusing, but she appreciated his sincere answer afterwards. Enough to even offer him an alternative to dancing with her here. He would just owe her a dance, perhaps at a place and time when he felt more comfortable so that it would be enjoyable for both of them, if she was feeling generous. He seemed to appreciate the offer, expressing as such by brushing his fingers over her cheek and through her hair, smiling that sexy smile that got her pulse racing. If he kept teasing her like this.... "Good. I'll hold you to it~" She chuckled, trying to focus more on responding so that she didn't give in to his tempting proximity. It also felt rather nice to have a card to play in their little game. It was nothing big, but it was still something. Thankfully, their food arrived shortly after, pulling them apart again so they could focus on their meals for a moment. After taking a sip of her mead, Scarlett asked about Zak's drink, curious as to what it turned out to be since he'd somewhat left it up to them. Zak wasn't sure, since they hadn't said anything, but he smelled it and took a sip, proclaiming it good and even offering her a taste. "Sure." She agreed, pulling the drink in question to her and going through similar motions; swirling, smelling, and sipping.
Even Scarlett wasn't quite sure what it was exactly, but she nodded approvingly. "Well it's certainly strong, so I guess ya got what ya asked far." She chuckled. "And it's good ta boot, so I think ya lucked out." She grinned, holding onto his drink for a bit longer and pushing hers over. "Ever had mead b'fare? It's pretty good stuff if ya don't mind the sweetness." She felt it only fair to trade some of her drink for his. "Fermented honey, ifn ya can believe it." She chuckled. "I swear, people'll figure out a way to ferment anythin' and turn it into alcohol." She grinned, taking another sip of Zak's drink before giving it back and cutting off a bit of her mutton to see how it fared when paired with whatever liquid was in Zak's cup.

Zak grinned as she laughed a bit, though it came down to just a smug smirk as she claimed to be full of surprises. Somehow he both doubted and believed that. He felt like he was getting to know her more and more, and yet at the same time, like he had no idea what she might do next. Especially with her controlling the situation, like now. "Enteresting, huh?" he repeated. He was tempted to ask her how, exactly, but he had a feeling he knew, and that kind of needling might annoy her. "I suppose zat's true. Zere's nusing very special about a dumb bimbo, besides zem being fun to look at," he admitted, eying her as if to gauge whether that was all she meant. He smirked and scoffed a bit when she turned his comment into a bit more self-flattery, but this time he didn't quite take the bait. "I'm sure you vould, Mishka," he replied with amusement. Hopefully he'd paid her enough compliments for her not to take that the wrong way. She was interesting, but he wasn't about to lavish her with remarks and call her a treasure. That was a bit much, even for him. Maybe if the clever word play had been his own to come up with, btu... Certainly not to just reaffirm her own self-flattery. At least he wasn't out right denying it, though. That could certainly say something....
Seeing the light in Scarlett's eyes at his touch sparked something in his chest, but he had to ignore it as their food appeared. He wondered whether she would be the sort to retaliate to the teasing, to give in, or to wait patiently. Playing this kind of game was one of Zak's favorite hobbies, and finding out what kind of player his victim partner was was one of the more satisfying outcomes. That, and seeing them squirm and flush. Given Scarlett's attitude so far, he imagined it would only be a matter of time before she cut his teasing off somehow, and some part of him frowned at how interested he was to see how, and when, that happened. Luckily, none of that was conscious enough to reach the surface. He simply kept that smirk, before bringing his attention around to the food, tasting his drink and then letting her try it.
Perhaps she could identify it? He stirred his soup around and blew on a spoonful to cool it, glancing over as she took her time trying to assess it. He smirked some at her response, glad to see he wasn't the only one unaware of it's name. Smirking to himself, he took a bite of his soup, but straightened up, wiping his mouth and glancing over as she offered her own drink to him. He quirked an eyebrow, but almost immediately smiled curiously, taking the drink. "Really.... I vonder vat else you even can ferment," he remarked, picking up the drink and swirling it around a bit. Probably anything with sugar, now that he thought about it, or at least most things with sugar. He took a sip, raising his eyebrows and setting it back down in front of her. "Enteresting," he remarked with a smile, picking his back up, "And not bad. I think I'll steek to my own, zou." After taking a long swig, he set it back down, stirring his soup around again to get another spoonful.
