Well, at least the quest hadn’t been a total failure, as the villagers accepted Puella’s raw steak. A perfectly-cooked steak would have been the optimal result, but beggars couldn’t be choosers. TK continued to repeat the idiom in his head as one of the villagers set the pair onto another task, and he wasn’t sure what to think about this one.
Actually, he knew what to think; he just couldn’t put it into proper words. How could he convey the emotions he was feeling right now as he stood awkwardly in a towel and shoes. This was certainly not the way to go if he ended up dissipating in this fight with the oversized minipet.
His face remained awkward and stiff as he rubbed his temples and glanced at Puella, who was in similar attire. “Are you…” he paused to take a deep sigh. “…ready?”

Puella was accustomed to wearing a lot more clothing than this. TK had taken a while to strip himself (he really did like formalwear, didn't he?) but Puella had layers and layers to remove, and tying the towel under her arms was a far cry from the large amount of clothing she ordinarily wore. She glanced over at the tall skeleton boil and giggled to see him in just his towel. Okay, yes, this was a strange departure from the getup she'd already become accustomed to seeing him in. At least hers was cute - patterned all across in jack heads and crossbones like some silly pirates' flag. Although Puella really did have to admit: orange...wasn't really her color. She nodded at him, though. "I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be!" she chirped. "Which way's the basilisk again?" And were they allowed weapons? She wouldn't mind hitting the thing with the spit they'd had earlier - it increased her admittedly short reach, which was really very convenient. Oh, wait - she had another thing to ask. "How 'bout you?" Maybe he needed to adjust to the new outfit, too. Or to read the map. Or something. (Hey, they were all valid potential distractions! Although Puella had to admit she was excited to see him at least a little out of his element.) [quote="Syusaki

As Puella looked over at TK and giggled, said-boil threw on his usual polite smile, except this time it looked icy, and paired with his slanted, glowing eyes he looked ready to dissipate her consecutive times. If looks could kill, this was certainly it. “Well, I see we are both ready then.” His voice was polite and normal like always, which made his smile unnerving. At least the intensity melted away as he turned toward the direction the villager had directed them to and began to walk.
He didn’t exactly have a weapon on him, which was unfortunate, but he wasn’t a stranger to hand-to-hand combat either. It wasn’t TK’s favorite, but it wasn’t as if he was helpless without a weapon.
A large snake started to come into view, and TK realized it was the oversized basilisk pet. He was impressed by its size, and wondered if there were similar instances within the village. Was it possible to duplicate them and take advantage of this useful effect? He mulled the idea over in his head as he strode forward and managed to land a surprisingly-strong punch to its face.

Oh, woah - TK's face could be pretty unnerving when he wanted it to be. She tried to stifle her giggles but wasn't super successful. She did shut up, however, when they reached the basilisk. "H-hey! Look over here!" she called, waving her arms as she did. Then she darted forward and stomped on its tail. That had to do some damage, right? It was a lot stronger than Puella was, though, and it struck swiftly. For a snake-looking thing, it had a lot of limbs...and they had a lot of reach. Puella winced as multiple of the little tentacle things surround its head slapped against her arms, and then winced again when she realized that they were stingers, not just tentacles. Just her luck, right? She sure hoped they could make it through this... At least TK seemed to be a little less fazed, although he seemed uncomfortable in just the towel. He was literally made of bone, though, so Puella supposed she couldn't be too shocked at his resilience. And his strength. Maybe the solution was to become taller. Puella HP: 27/30 Basilisk HP: 20/30

A while ago, TK had suspected Puella to be a young student, but as she stomped on the creature’s tail (which did not do much, from what he could tell) he was all but convinced that she had to be a first year. Anything older was too much for him to accept at the moment.
He would just have to pull most of the weight in this fight, but he would never tell Puella that. No matter how courteous he tried to sound, it would come out sounding all sorts of wrong, and cleaning up the mess would be too much of a hassle. He decided to just wordlessly follow up on Puella’s attempt by bending down to grab the tail and somehow managed to lightly toss it away from them.

TK would not have been wrong in his assumption about Puella. It was all right, though. It was a learning experience, right? She watched as he tore off - tore off! - the tail and murmured appreciatively, before stepping forward and raking her sharp fingernails across the basilisk's back as hard as she could. To her surprise, she actually did quite a bit of damage - the gouges from her scratching ended up being quite visible. She still hadn't been anywhere near as impressive as TK, though. Damnit! How was she gonna learn how to be cool like that, and did it require paying attention in class instead of sleeping? Puella HP: 24/30 Basilisk HP: 5/30

Tearing off the tail was a bloody sight. Red dripped from his fingers—creating a startling contrast between the blood and his white skin. But the fight was not over; there was no time to admire artistic aesthetics. There was only time for the skeleton boil to gracefully flick his wrists to rid himself of the excess blood before he was back for round two, and he did not disappoint.
He grabbed the basilisk’s head with both of his knobby hands and crushed with all his might. It was not as ferocious as his previous hits, but it was enough to destroy the creature once and for all, and its corpse fell with a large thud.
"Well, time to take our prize, would you not agree?"

"I-I guess so!" Puella replied chirpily. And yet what would be an appropriate souvenir for the ordeal they'd had to suffer nearly nude? The scales were bright and pretty, but the basilisk did have lots of them. It'd only really be worth it if they took nearly all the scales, and Puella honestly hadn't really come here to de-scale a basilisk. Oh - oh, wait. She pulled TK's hands apart just a little, paused, and turned to grab a stick from the ground. Then, eagerly but meticulously, she gouged the eyes one by one out of their sockets. "These would make a pretty prize, right?" she asked, grinning mischievously at him. "Now you only need one more eye for your sockets!" Because she was obviously confiscating the other one. They'd totally shared this burden, right? "What classes did you take to learn how to fight like that?"
