Johan ventured outside the walls of Camelot. Not on a horse this time, not heading for the mountain. This time, he was after one of the large monsters seen lurking near the castle. Katana at the ready, he followed the marks made by what looked like a smaller specimen. He was alone at the moment, and targeting one of the larger ones felt like a fools' mission.
The tracks were fresh. He expected to see it quite soon. Unfortunately, the monster also expected him.
He was ambushed as he rounded a turn, a large bird like thing lunging at him with a pointed beak. The impact hurt, but Johan managed to give as good as he received, stabbing down into the monster's left leg. Squawking angrily, the bird thing backed up. It and Johan sized each other up.

The bird moved quite quickly on the attack. It pecked Johan again, at first aiming for his eyes, which he managed to deflect with his blade. Denied them, it went for any bit of exposed flesh it could reach. On the defensive, Johan finally managed to break the attack by slashing at its now injured foot. The thing shrieked and backed away once again.

The bird had not yet had enough. It attacked once more, pecking at him furiously. Johan dodged and blocked what he could, but was still taking damage. If he could just hit that foot again... But the bird was being more cautious with its limbs. Johan feinted a strike toward the other foot, prompting the bird to readjust its balance, bringing the left foot within striking distance. And strike Johan did!
The bones of the foot audibly shattered from the blow. Screaming bloody murder the bird hopped backwards on it hale limb. It hissed malevolently at him, wobbling as it tried to maintain its balance.

Shun spotted a familiar figure on the battlefield, facing off against one of the creatures of shadow. One of its legs had been broken, from the looks of things. The creature hobbled about pitifully, and it offered an excellent opportunity to capitalize on.
He moved in swiftly, striking multiple times with his blade in quick succession. The first few strikes cut deeply into the bird's remaining leg, rendering it completely immobile. Then, with one precise move, its head came cleanly off the rest of its body.

"Neatly done." Johan congratulated Shun, impressed by the flurry of strikes the Black Knight had executed against the creature. If they ever had a chance to spar again, he would have to watch out for that move.
Flicking and sheathing his katana, he bowed to Shun. When he did so, he thought he saw something amidst the ruins of the shadow bird.
