Personality: Nothing comes easy and if it does, something else will be twice as hard to master. That is one code that Kdal lives by, the other is that 'The world is both give, and take; make sure you aren't being robbed blind'. But despite all of that Kdal is a very outgoing person who is willing to try almost anything once, if only to say that she did it. Most of her reactions to the things she's tried tally up to 'I told myself it would be this bad'.
It's almost become a catch phrase of hers, one that almost excuses her stubborn nature. Or so she often tells herself.
Description: Pureblood shifter, crystal placement is up to the artist as well as shift phase. Her hair is a little shorter than mid back length and tied loosely at the base of her neck and tighter at the tail end of her hair. She has burn scars on her arms and along one side of her torso.
Clothing: A simple breast band, bright green sash and burnt orange pants with foot and wrist wraps.
History: Kdal was orphaned at a young age, when fire swept over their temporary home. She didn't know why her parents were away from where she was born, nor did she know where they had been going, but the caravan they'd been traveling with had taken her in, treated her burns, and dropped her off at the first settlement they'd come across. It turned out that the place was a bustling trade hub and while the caravan settled down to resupply, Kdal found herself at odds. The settlement wasn't used to dealing with children on what would seem like a long term basis, and not one that didn't know much of anything except her own name, and the names of her deceased parents.
Kdal didn't know which part of Jauhar she came from, and it was out of the question for someone to go and ask each tribe individually if she belonged to them. The travel time alone made the journey undesirable. But the matter was taken out of their hands when a pair of Wind tribe traders happened to overhear the heated debate. The couple would take her in, as they were incapable of bearing children of their own, and raise her as one of them. It was unusual yes, but the slender men just wanted younglings of their own, and without really thinking about it, Kdal found herself adopted by the strange pale men.
It took some time for her to open up to them, but eventually Kdal came to know Dmin and Tokru as her new Father and Patre. As they traveled, both with the tribe and by themselves, Kdal came to learn a few things. One was that her parents only knew the basics of how to defend themselves, and two, they were very very good at avoiding conflict. As Wind earthlings their hearing wasn't as good as her own, but they were good at reading trail signs and other small things that they tried to teach her. What they lacked the rest of the tribe made up for it.
Kdal learned what it meant to be a nomad, living life on the move. It wasn't much different from what little she remembered of her childhood, only it felt more stable. Safe in ways she couldn't explain. She wanted to keep that feeling of safety and the only path that even remotely made sense to her was that of fighting. Melee fighting, being in the thick of things. A living shield for everything she cared for, regardless of the personal cost to herself.
As she grew older the idea stuck with her, so much so that she'd often sneak away from her chores to watch the tribes warriors as they trained. Her parents teased her whenever they caught her, saying that she was out looking for a potential mate, and that she was a few years too early to be doing so. She confessed that she wanted to join them, to fight like they did. But her developing body made it hard to work with, and the binding bands and clothes they'd given her weren't what she really wanted. She liked them, enjoyed wearing them yes, but they weren't practical enough.
It also made her stand out more, to be dressed so unlike the other women, with her color shifting skin and eyes and her upper half tightly bound. But she was determined and her parents supportive. If this is what their child wanted, their daughter in all but blood, then they would provide for her and help her become as strong as she wanted to be.
