Mischeivous, - Vallen is to put it mildly a pain in the but, he will come up with elaborate pranks to pull on people and annoy them just for the joy of it. He has a crap disturbing unstoppable personality which makes him a tenacious enemy or friend for that matter.
Protective - He will die for those he loves no ifs ands or buts. If you are under his protection and he has decided you are worthy then someone would have to go through him in order to get to you.
Playful, - Depending on who he is with at the time he may be playful or flirtaceous. Vallen posseses an uncommon joy for life that is reflected in unconventional action and celebration.
Impatient - Pretty self explanatory, he does not have a lot of patience for many things like waiting for other people, being in line ups, not being at the battle yet, starting a journey and the like, yet if he can see a target he can stalk it until the creature turns grey with age.
Abrasive - Vallen can be very much in peoples faces a loud annoying large shifter presence that you simply cannot shake. If he had an animal form it would likely be a honey badger. Shocking that he was born to two patient people.

History:
Vallen is the son of Kelina and Sauron, a shifter pair match made in heaven. He is one of three triplets and is in the second set of siblings so he does have a rather large family. His an his siblings birth was a chaotic time but everyone involved survived; mother and babes.
His parents are very supportive and solid rocks in his life, his siblings are a joy to him, even if he enjoys annoying his sister Sezarra a little too much.

Vallen's mate is Isaris, the pair may one day adopt which Vallen is all for, he knows that they cannot have kids naturally but wants to feel that special connection anyway. There is no one he'd rather do it with than Isaris who he loves with all of his heart. The pair compliment each other nicely.

Vallen will be a rider one day with his bonded radaku Unduru. He will continue on the rider line in his family handed down from generation to generation.

Solo 001 - Radaku bonding solo.

Vallen sat wrapped around his new radaku. His father had found him the perfect companion while he was out training to gain strength, being a peaceful man by nature his father had gone out a taming instead of picking a fight with others, which he often tried to avoid as it sent the wrong impression. His son however had no such compunctions about brawls, battles and scraps. They were all a good time. He was still young and so had issues with preventing the tears of joy leaking from his eyes into the dark fur of the creature which was by some miracle permitting the young prentice to keep up the all but strangle hold he had around his neck. His name was Unduru and he had dark black fur with blood red eyes and Vallen thought he was the most powerful, most handsome, most graceful creature in all the land. He would never forget the moment when his father had walked out with the beast on a thin leash and ceremoniously handed him the fine strip of leather. “He’s yours, now whether you become a rider like your old man or not, this will be your most loyal companion, none of the human frippery will cloud his judgement so you should trust him above all others...once you get the bond going. I suggest you talk to your sister she has quite the knack for big fanged critters if I do say so myself.”
Vallen at this point was in so much shock all he could do was stand there leash in hand and stare at the most gorgeous beast ever. His father had smiled and tilted his head, “So what are you going to name him?”
Vallen cleared his throat, thought for a minute and said. “Unduru – the Dark One.” His father nodded and said “Now that’s an apt name. Now run along and feed him, the key always seems to start with food. Be careful of small bones and exoskeletons, he should be okay but part of your job is looking after him better then you look after yourself so that he may return the favor.
“I will papa, oh I will! Thank you.” Vallen had hugged his father and then hoarded his radaku to himself for three days, setting up a schedule for maintenance of waste and feeding times, diligently making sure his beast was fed and watered until the point in time some weeks later where the weight of the beast on his bed felt more natural then not and he felt as safe as ever, even with a large beast snoring peacefully between equally large teeth beside him. His sister said that their combined snoring was enough to wake the dead and this made Vallen very very proud for some odd reason. He had a responsibility now, an important one, become a better Rider than even his father and carry on the tradition of his family. He was decided. He would become a rider and kick everyone else’s butts.
As time went on he began to relax even more, building up the bond surely but slowly until they communicated better and better. Soon he would just have to wave or speak a few words and Unduru would know what he wanted instead of the head tilting confusion of before. In his personal opinion, having a single familiar was much better than the hoard his big sister was amassing. He figured that his bond would be stronger and tighter than hers because he only had one creature to focus on, to spend all his time with, to train and to adore. His coat was always shining, he was in top condition and to do so Vallen also stayed in shape. They ran together through the forest, for miles and miles, scouting and discovering many new places and new creatures, nests of the giant crystal spiders or large packs of wild radaku the only things sending them scurrying back the way they had come.
Eventually at his own pace and with much listening to his mount, Vallen began to ride Unduru for short bursts, getting used to using his legs and hands to stay on. Eventually he built up the time he rode until it was up to about an hour, after which he would brush the radaku down and feed him, then work with a practice spear for an hour. On and on this went until he was absolutely exhausted between chores, radaku and spear work. He then switched to lance and practiced with that weight for a month then switched again to the trident which he loved above the other two. He didn’t think that weapon choice mattered to his families’ radaku dynasty just his class. He felt that the trident suited him, being unusual and edgy and beautiful all in one, the perfect third companion to his radaku and himself. His father watched his practice with sparkling eyes but never said anything about his sons’ dedication just patted him on the shoulder once in a while and that was enough for Vallen. He was doing well and that was what mattered. Soon came the day when he had saved up enough pennies doing odd jobs to go to the market and actually buy his trident.
From the first moment the cool steel of his first real weapon touched his hands he knew it was his destiny, all of his hard work was paying off in a most dramatic fashion and he was done his first step to becoming a rider. He didn’t carry his trident everywhere like he wanted too, having being cautioned by a certain sister that being able to defend yourself without a weapon was equally as important as with as you were not guaranteed to have it with you all the time. That being said he did sleep with it, having it close to hand in case of emergency seemed to help. His muscles gained more definition once he started to practice with the real one and soon he was riding and hitting targets stuffed with straw. This was the most fun of all as it combined all that he had learned into one.

val quest rolls
PostPosted: Fri Apr 22, 2016 1:42 pm

Vallen was perched in a tree by a stream deep in the Jauharan forest. It was a stormy, miserable day with a thick drizzle of rain and forked lightning dancing across the sky in vibrant flashes. The noise generated by the deluge and static tended to drown out a lot of things that were usually easy to hear in the forest; creating a very limited sense and feel for one’s surroundings.
For once he was completely alone, not by his choice but everyone seemed to be busy with this or that so he had come out here in a bit of a snit as no one was paying any attention to him whatsoever when he was obviously worth much more of their time. He grinned at his own sauceyness but also resented that they were busy and he was not. Alone, bored, angry...three conditions that should never be happening to him at the same time, his dad would say that it was a time for reflection or some philosophical crap like that, he didn’t want to “reflect,” he wanted to be a part of a new scene. He was growling to himself when Unduru bounded back through the trees with a face full of feathers having evidently eaten a bird on his travels. Vallen snorted, “Why didn’t you share?”

The radaku lay down under the tree and watched the foliage intently, ducking his head under a leaf to get a better view at...something. Vallen tilted his head curiously. What was going on over there? Unduru was basically painting a sign for him that said “PAY ATTENTION” and it beat doing what he had been doing, which was nothing, so Vallen leaned out slightly to look while still being mostly hidden by the leaves.

What he eventually saw astounded him, it was absolutely absurd. Two waterling males marched behind a wind girl who looked like she had some alkidike heritage in the shape of her face her eyebrows and oh yeah, the feelers on the top of her head. What the crap was going on over there? Why was she tied up like that, they were driving her ahead like they were herding her. To what end, what interest would they have in her? He was very confused by now and pretty sure he was supposed to be angry at whatever was going on here. He watched he needed to glean more information, get closer and listen. He slunk up beside his radaku and they moved together stealthily through the undergrowth until they could easily hear what was going on. On his way over he had thought of probably reasons for this; either she had stolen from them or they were kidnapping her for nefarious purposes. Maybe next time he shouldn’t ask for something exciting to happen if this was what he was going to get. Now it looked like he had to actually work..and to what end for himself? What would he get out of this. They were not his family nor his intended mate so why precisely did he care?

From the sounds of things one or both of the boys wanted her as a potential mate for themselves, they didn’t sound like the brightest of the water folk either. Especially if they thought that was how you earned love and or a wife. Even Vallen knew that. So much for her being the bad person then, she needed rescuing, if she hadn’t done it by now she was probably incapable of it. He pursed his lips, to intervene or not. He had just been complaining he was bored, true. But now he kind of felt like going to find Isaris and tie him up and see how that went. Probably not well but if it ended in wrestling so be it, he liked that too. Hmmm, this was quite the conundrum. He threaded his fingers into the midnight fur of the stealthy, powerful beast beside him.
Of course if he didn’t intervene he was a horrible person, but he never claimed to be truly good. He cared about his family and his Isaris..not all that much else when it came right down to it. He was aggressive and obnoxious; he accepted that about himself. However there were things that one could not quite rinse out, like not knowing what would happen to this girl if he did nothing right now, he sighed. Either he could charge in and have a brawl, but what would that teach those fellows? If he could make it so she saved herself now and she beat the pulp out of them that would be a lesson they would soon not forget. But he didn’t know if she had any spice left. If he could just talk to her, that would help. He could get her loose and help her to fight them off without them seeing him..then they would be less likely to come after someone again.

He got as close as he dared into her line of sight, waggled his eyebrows and disappeared again into the bush as only a shifter could. He would never forget the startled look on her face, what would come next would be worth it just for that. She groaned and crossed her legs in the universal language for “must pee.”

The two block heads started discussing whether or not they should let her, basically it came down to their sense of smell, she wouldn’t smell all that good if they didn’t let her go. So they led her to a tree and tied her too it, trusting that she could get her pants down to get it done herself with her hands tied, then they walked a short distance away out of sight. Vallen sent Unduru to watch them and if the need arose he would show himself and start a wild radaku chase through the forest. Val hoped he would stay far enough out of the danger zone to be safe. Meanwhile he appeared beside the girl using every stealth move his parents and siblings had taught him since he could walk.

“Now let us be clear, I’m not your white knight, all I’m doing is giving you a chance to kick their butts yourself so that they learn not to pick on ladies aye?” He sawed at her bonds and released her, giving her a small eating knife. “I’ll not be back to save you after this so get it done right the first time.”
She nodded mutely and whispered a thank you, as he disappeared again, not wasting any time. He had done what he wanted and that was that. He gave a radaku like call and summoned his familiar who had not had to show himself, the call made the guards come running and Vallen got on Unduru and sped off into the trees.

That night he could not stop the thoughts from whirling through his brain, had he done right by her? What had really happened? Should he have stayed and watched and pummeled those idiots for jeopardizing someone else’s rights? He would have given her a bigger weapon if he had had one but the little knife had been a loner from his father that he would now have to replace anyway. Despite himself, he knew that if he had done any less the guilt would haunt him even worse than it was now. He had done what he had thought was fair and the only person he had to answer to was himself and his familiar. As a rider he had risked Unduru only as much as needed and himself more. That felt very right to him to put his partner before himself.

Why did this bug him so much. He squirmed in his bed tossing and turning and not sleeping at all, the nightmares haunted him with the possible results of what could have happened to her since he had left her. He owed her nothing, she could be a horrible person...was he a horrible person?
Finally with a groan Unduru got up from where he had been sprawled on the floor and laid right on top of his master growling faintly until Vallen looked him in the blood red eyes, a big nasty wet tongue laved him lavishly upside the face with he might add the worlds most awful breath and something in Vallen settled. What was done was done, he closed his eyes breathing in the radaku’s scent and fisting his fingers in the fur. He had done what he thought was fair for that girl and now it was none of his business, had been none of his business from the start but something in him had prevented him from walking away and he was not sure he liked what it had been. He was not a soft person until it came to those he cared about, so why on earth did leaving a woman to the ravages of two waterlings leave him with such a knot in his belly and in his head. What good were emotions if they left you with less then what they gave? He should feel proud of what he had done, instead he wondered about the past and the future.

Eventually Unduru bit him gently on his shoulder, snapping him out of his reverie again. Next time, he would do a little more, or at least watch the results until the end. He apparently had enough of his do gooder father in him to make it hard to sleep at night and that was really unacceptable. As such all deficiencies found during the day would be fixed at the earliest opportunity. He would ask his family to keep their ears out for what had befallen the female and next time this happened he would be much more diligent in his doings.

Sunset Of Fire with Isaris
PostPosted: Thu May 11, 2017 9:49 am

Vallen ran the whetstone slowly and rythmically, sharpening the blade of his lance to the perfect armor piercing thickness. Shield or bracer, nothing would stop him from his goals. If he wanted to grow his family he had to be prepared for anything. Including the body snatching dretch which had resurfaced recently; they would have to snatch him before they ever got a hold on Isaris.

They probably ate their captives, he hoped they would choke on his gamey hide. Creepy bug people had no place on his island home, er continent, not island. He wanted to skewer them, if only he had been at one of the councils, however he had been busy acting as a personal guard for some fancy oban noble. He had needed the coin though, he had been nearly broke. Sadly it had meant that he had lost out on all of the action, not that there had been an awful lot of it. From the reports from Arron the dretch had acted swiftly, before anyone could strike at them.

Vallen chewed on his cheek in thought and paused in his sharpening to mull some thoughts over. He needed to strengthen his skills, expend some energy and see some new places. It was time for an adventure again. He cleaned the lance head and put it aside before he started outfitting Unduru with his special travel pack. The wind blew through his hair and he smiled, this was definitely the right path.

Maybe he would see his sister on the way, that would be awesome she had left on an adventure what seemed like forever ago, so it was about time she had seen her brother again. He grinned into the darkness, a feral gleam in his eyes, the world would tremble now that Vallen was roaming once again.
