Virbank City is known to be a port city with many hangars, docks and waterways. In the northeastern part of the city, there is graffiti painted on the wall that resembles Koffing's skull and crossbones mark.
There are other places of interest such as the harbor where many of the port's ships come and go with their cargo, the Virbank Complex which is an industrial plant outside of the city, and the Virbank City Gym. The Virbank City gym doubles as a music and dance club where the gym leader Roxie trains with her poison types, and moonlights as the lead bass guitarist in her rock band. It is also home to Pokéstar Studios where people from all over Unova make their own movies and battle real trainers for the movies.

Arriving in Virbank City Simon recognized this place, he hadn't come here for his eight badges but he recognized that this was one of the newest cities with a gym in it. For the first time in a long time this region had more than the normal eight gyms. The toxic gym here was run by a super star singer slash guitarist named Roxie. Walking pass the gym into the tall grass they were first attacked by a Pidove, since Simon didn't have one yet it was Venonat's time to shine.

Healing Venonat up Simon didn't see the risk of battling Pidove with her until after the fact. The flying moves were super effective against Venonat since she was a bug. However the level difference was still there as Simon ran into another Pidove and he still sent Venonat out to battle.

Actually this area might not be best for Venonat as he thought about it. Plenty of bird Pokemon around here and Simon swore he saw a few fire Pokemon like Growlithe. Looking through his Pokenav maybe there was a TM that Venonat could learn that would help her out. Since she knew a move that poisoned foes Venoshock was a good move to use. Taking out the TM he placed it in the CD drive and hold the Nav over Venonat who cooed curiously at him. In a moment she had learned TM #09 Venoshock and the TM disc broke like they always do. Now they were ready for the Pidove that appeared next.

It was a perfect combo for Venonat considering that she would poison the foe by shaking the powder off her body onto the foe. Venoshock was a powerful move but with the foe disabled by to poison attack power was double and it was great. Then another Pokemon appeared, the fire Pokemon Growlithe like he saw another trainer catching earlier. Afraid of the fire moves Simon nodded for her to attack.

Cheering on her as her combo of poisoning and Venoshock was doing so great. It was reminding him of when Simon trained up Ekans and Grimer. They had trained for a long time because of their issues with Valerie. Looking into the Pokenav after he healed her up and she continued to look for a new Pokemon to train against. There wera lot of duel type Pokemon however not a fire poison Pokemon which made battling steel types pretty hard. Venonat drew his attention to the now as a wild Audino appeared and Simon nodded telling Venonat to take it out.

The next Pokemon was considered a baby Pokemon for some reason. Nita once told him it was because they were as cute as a baby but Simon figured cuteness was in the eye of the beholder. The next Pokemon to arrive in the tall grass was a plant Pokemon so Venonat wouldn't need to poison first since grass types were already weak to poison. This was "Sunkern the seed Pokemon. Sunkern tries to move as little as it possibly can. It does so because it tries to conserve all the nutrients it has stored in its body for its evolution. It will not eat a thing, subsisting only on morning dew." His mother had a Sunkern once because his dad got her a bunch of flower Pokemon for her garden and to take care of her while he was traveling. Liking that thought Simon decided to catch this one too.

According to his Pokenav there were only a few more Pokemon in the area that he might want to catch. Those being Magnemite, bad news for Venonat since steel is immune to poison moves, and Sewaddle, a bug Pokemon for the Johto region. Then again he could always fly to Johto and see if they were stronger over there. Deciding to go back to the Pokecenter and look at it they were blocked by a Growlithe so Simon had Venonat defeat it first.

Finished healing his team up just to let them get some decent healing Simon thanked Nurse Joy and sat down at one of the tables. Considering that Venonat was both a bug and poisonous he didn't let her out in the Pokemon Trainer's dining area. Opening a bottle of water he drank deeply before wiping his mouth and looking over the other areas in this region. Deciding to stick around here for a bit longer, hopefully to find a Sewaddle, another bug Pokemon. Outside in tall grass Simon was able to send out Venonat again and good since the first Pokemon was another Sunkern.

There was no reason to heal Venonat up as she received no damage from the seed Pokemon. A Patrat scurried out of the nearby tree launching itself at Venonat. She reacted perfectly spreading poison powder into the air as Patrat bit her. Before falling back as the poison hurt it. Turning around Venoshock fired off a blast of poison at the Patrat defeating it.
