The entrance to the Ice Path provided a chill to run down Huey's spine just being near it and the boy's small fingers fumbled clumsily to zip up his jacket to help usher out the cold, at least for a little bit. His steps were cautious entering the frozen cavern, for he was keen on keeping steady and not slipping and potentially injuring himself, or even breaking a bone. His breath escaped his mouth in small puffs and for a moment he became enthralled by the mere sight, gulping down the cold air and exhaling deeply just so that he could see his breath in larger quantities, until the sound of a shrill cry echoed throughout the cavern, which caused the boy to jump and the hanging icicles to shake precariously.
"What was that?" his question went unanswered when the cry went out again, this time louder and more panicked. Huey bit down on his bottom lip, a moment of uncertainty flashing in his eyes, before his hand curled into a fist and with a determined nod to himself began to speed-walk towards the sound. Slipping and sliding along the way, his pokemon followed after him and all three arrived at the same time to the same sight: a Golbat attacking a cowering pokemon, the latter's identity unable to be made with its body curled in a corner to protect itself, but from the paws clamped over its head it had a distinct feline-look to it.
Huey wasted no time in sending out Dutch and with a shout gained the Golbat's attention, forcing it to switch target's and send out a powerful Air Cutter. Despite the damage Dutch made quick work of the large bat, sending it fluttering away on battered wings with just two electrified bites of his powerful jaw. The blonde waited until the Golbat was out of sight, and was making no attempts to try and return, before he approached the pokemon. "Hey, you're alright now." he announced, and from his wary distance watched as the pokemon's form trembling form stilled and it uncurled its body and turned to slowly face Huey. It wasn't one he instantly recognized and with cautious curiousity watched as its eyes widened in surprise.

The little cub, who Huey eventually realized was called a 'Flurry', sat up slowly, its head still tilted to the side, and tucked its paws neatly together. "Flurry!" it mewled and in the blink of the eye disappeared, and in the next second a chill ran from up his leg. It was a familiar feeling and he fully expected to find Yuki right beside him, but when he turned his head to the side noticed that she was hovering nearby, certainly not close enough to cause this sort of shiver. He looked down and found that the Flurry had reappeared and was currently rubbing its cheeks against the back of his leg. "Flurry, Flurry!" a purr rumbled from its chest, a deep sound for such a small thing, and the boy looked expectantly to Yuki. "Could you translate for me?"
The Froslass gave a sigh, clashing emotions of disinterest and anger flickering in her gaze. "It said, 'thank you for, saving me.'" she translated, her hand moving to rest on her cheek afterwards. "Oh." Huey smiled down at the Flurry. "You're welcome! You're not hurt are you?" he waited for Yuki to begin translating again, but the next voice that entered his head was a different one entirely, and new to him. "I've got a little scratch on my shoulder, but otherwise everything's A-Okay!" Huey jumped, nearly slipping after his descent, and swiveled his head from side to side to find the source. "Down here!"
Following the physic voice's direction he tilted his chin downward, but the only thing he saw was the Flurry. It blinked up at him. "Yeah, it's me! The little Flurry you saved, I can communicate with... whatever you are perfectly fine."

Once Huey had gotten used to the idea that Flurry could communicate with him, and clarified that he was human, the boy gave a light shiver and stuffed his hands into his coat pocket before asking the cub a question that'd been on his mind. "So, what are you doing in a place like this?" he moved from side to side when asking this, the slight movement keeping his blood flowing which kept him warm; sorta. "I was just passing through here, on my way to this huuuge influx of ghosts when that pesky Golbat attacked me." its gaze slid over to Yuki and in one fluid, and once again unseen, movement had disappeared and reappeared by her side. "Speaking of ghosts, do you need this one exorcised? I was going to, buuut I saw how attached you were to it."
Huey's eyes widened while Yuki's narrowed. "What? No! Please don't do that!" there was a bit of panic in the boy's plea, to which the Flurry's ears fell back right before it nodded. "Alright, I won't! She doesn't seem like a bad ghost anyway." he gave a sigh of relief and murmured a bit of gratitude; he certainly didn't want to battle the pokemon he'd just saved. "Hey, uhm, do you want to go with us? For now? I know the place you're talking about and could lead you there, after I do something first."
The Flurry's whiskers twitched with its consideration and in a flurry of snowflakes appeared at Huey's shoes, paws once more neatly tucked in. "Sure, why not~ I could use a body guard while I'm on my mission." From the fridge to the freezer, the girls found them selves no warmer in the cave than they had been outside, but at least it appeared they were not being chased... for now. Pressing a hand to the icy wall was uncomfortable, but it was all Ko could do from falling to the ground in exhaustion. She hadn't run like that in some time. Wei wasn't as exhausted, but the cold certainly did take it out of her. She was used to cold, but not this cold. There was no doubting where this cave got its name. The stalagmites and tites were all entirely encased in ice, and even the cave floor was slippery in various parts, the rocks themselves had taken upon an icy blue hue as had the walls. All around them the sounds of cracking ice echoed through the cave, as did the various calls of passing Zubat, Golbat and some Crobat. However it wasn't a bat that met them at the cave's entrance, but a startled Jynx!
'Oh my! You gave me a startle!' The Jynx proclaimed, holding a hand to her chest. Wei offered a deep bow to the psychic-type. "We are deeply sorry." Wei replied. Ko nodded a few times, but she was still trying to catch her breath and unable to actually reply. 'Apology accepted. I will-oh? Hmm... Actually, trainer, I feel a rush of energy, I would rather like a battle with you.' The Jynx continued, giving a smile before her face turned rather fierce. Wei was rather surprised... now was not the time really for a battle. 'Hmm? You have no time? Of course you have time, do not worry the ones giving chase to you have been forced to retreat, the one who aided you will be here shortly so, please, entertain me?' Well, if there was one thing she learned from reading her books, it was never to doubt a psychic's abilities. Surely the Jynx wouldn't lie just for a battle? "Okay, I shall battle you." Wei gave in, glancing to Geshou and Wori Wori, who both seemed eager to battle themselves.
The battle of itself was certainly something. Wori Wori hardly got a chance to get in an attack, but in the end it only took two well timed Bites for the Jynx to finally admit defeat. Type effectiveness was certainly something and could change the tide of the battle very quickly. Either way, as the Jynx had stated previously, the two girls savoir did finally appear, riding on the back of a large Beartic. "Oh, Jynx. You do know how to throw a welcoming party don't cha?" The savoir stated. When Wei turned to face the figure, she found it was a young woman bundled tightly like an eskimo from one of her books. Pulling down her hood, the woman gave a warm smile. "But I'm here to really get the party started. Nice to meet cha, I'm Arteka, and this here is Muurukee" The woman stated as she patted the back of her mount's head. Muurukee growled lowly, bobbing his head as he did. Wei offered a bow, as did the finally recovered Ko. "Thank you for your assistance earlier." Wei replied. "Oh no, problemo. I'm always willin' to help out travelers. Jynx here has a knack for tellin' futures and stuff, so why'dontcha have you join you guys." Arteka suggested, motioning towards the Jynx who'd taken to sitting down on a flattened stalagmite. 'Oh, what a splended idea.' The Jynx smiled. 'I did love that battle, and you both seem like very nice people.' The Jynx continued. Wei offerd a warm smile and bowed in appreciation. "It would be an honor, I could really use all the help I can get." Wei smiled. Pulling out the first ball she could from her bag, she offered it to the Jynx. 'Oh green~ My favorite colour.' She smiled, quickly tapping her hand to the ball's button and allowing herself to be drawn inside. Once the catch was confirmed, Wei called out the Jynx and offered her a Revival Herb, which while it was bitter and rather unpleasant, perked the Jynx back up completely.

With the new addition added to the team and settling in, Wei quickly went to work healing up Wori Wori with a few potions. "Here you are, Wori Wori. That was certainly a tough battle." Wei commented, scratching the crocodile under her chin after the last potion was administered. 'Hee hee, I'm much stronger than I pretend to be.' The Jynx replied, sashaying over to Wei and Wori Wori, patting the crocodile softly. 'When I need to be at least.' She added. Wori Wori replied with a eager growl.
Suddenly, it was as if the entire cave had woken up. All sorts of pokemon cries echoed around the ice-covered walls. "Woah, everyone is certainly in a fuss!' Arteka spoke. "Must be 'cause a your battle jus' now." She added, giving a wink. "You best be careful, the Pokemon in this cave love to battle. But anyway, I gotta jet, the way out is right that way, careful of the ground some parts are much more slippy that other parts." Arteka warned. Then with a few pats to the back of her Beartic's head the bear woke and instantly turned around and walked out of the cave. Wei gave a bow while Ko waved happily. The short-haired blonde then turned to Wei. "Okay, should we get moving now?" She inquired. Wei nodded. Her gaze ventured back to the Jynx, and as she watched Jynx play with Wori Wori a thought came to mind. "Would you mind if I called you Xīnlíng gōngzhǔ? It means psychic princess." Wei inquired. Jynx rose her head, tilting it slightly. 'I do like the sound of it. Xinling... I don't see why not.' Jynx smiled. "Good to hear. Okay, we should now move forward." Easier said than done, as a wild Golbat appeared. Of course, Genshou was wise to what was going on, as she slid forward on her belly and called to the Golbat, drawing in it's attention, but Wori Wori pulled himself away as the Golbat came in for an attack and took the hit for Genshou. Wori Wori snapped her maw, and launched at the bat with a fist full of ice, fitting for the cave they were in. The Golbat was barely a challenge, so when a small chunk of ice fell nearby Wei the blonde took a moment to bend down and pick it up, it was cool to the touch, but not brittle or clear like ice. An inquiry indeed, she decided to keep it.

The battle fought and won, it appeared the path for Wei and Kotensa was now clear. Calling back the bulk of her team, save for Genshou and Wori Wori the duo set forward. Upon reaching a particularly slippery part of the cave, Wei took caution, calling upon her training in balance. One would be surprised to hear Wei say she'd never ice-skated a day in her life, because the young woman glided across the frozen ice as if she were a gold Olympic Ice-skater. Well, perhaps not that good, but she managed not to fall on her behind, like poor Ko did, several times in fact.
After passing by this obstacle, the duo continued through the cave with ease, still not coming across anymore wild Pokemon. After descending to another floor, Wei found it quite odd that they'd not been attack or even spotted another wild Pokemon. Hadn't that young woman warned about the eagerness to battle within the Pokemon in this cave? Very strange. It wasn't until the duo were about to come to the last slippery obstacle of the cave when various cries from Pokemon filled the cave. "Woah, sounds like a party." Ko mentioned, though the fellow blonde shared the same frown. "A really bad party..." Ko continued, trying to correct herself.
Rushing forward, the two girls came across what appeared to be several Pokemon surrounding another Pokemon, who was very much hurt... Wei's stare narrowed. They weren't trying to assist the hurt Pokemon, no they were the ones hurting it! Without a moments hesitation Wei leaped forward, breaking off a weakened icicle from a low-hanging part of the cave's ceiling. Swinging it with the intent to miss, Wei brought herself to the wounded Pokemon's body, standing over it. "Cease your attacks!" Wei called out, a hand held out like a traffic cop would. The pokemon surrounding her snapped and snarled, baring fangs and claws alike. "Cease now or go through me." She added, a fierce look over took her gaze, intimidating some of the Pokemon into backing down, but one, a Golbat, found her threat weak. Swooping forward, ready to bite down upon Wei, the blonde swung her icicle downward bringing the bat out of the sky and down upon the frigid floor of the cave. "You will stop this behavoir." Wei voiced. The Golbat flapped it's wings as hard as it could, but after a few moments it finally stopped.... accepting it's defeat.
This final act of intimidation scared the remainder of the attackers away, along with the Golbat with the bruised ego. Wei let out a sigh as they did so. She didn't like that she had to use force. Ko slid up beside Wei, looking below her to see what she'd been protecting. "I've never seen a Pokemon like that before." Ko mentioned, kneeling down. "Hey there little one, it's okay. You're safe now." Ko added. Wei turned herself to stand beside Ko, than knelled down as well. The Pokemon they'd come across was a Rowlet, a very unique Rowlet... very far away from it's homeland. Still shaking the small bird risked a peek, finding that the Pokemon that had previously attacked it were no longer there, but now replaced with two humans. Genshou peeked around Wei's leg, her curious gaze caught the Rowlets, which made both of them hide once more. Both Ko and Wei shared a laugh at this adorable action.
Reaching forward Wei plucked the Rowlet from the ground, and began to administer some potions to some areas of the bird's body. "We will have to take you to a Pokemon Center to get you thoroughly checked out. I can only do so much with what I have." Wei mentioned. Lifting it's gaze up to Wei, the bird seemed to almost blush before turning it's head 90 degrees so that it was pushing it's beak into her arm. Despite it's wounds, the bird jostled it's way out of Wei's arms and fluttered around her several times before lowering itself to one of the spare balls on Wei's bag's strap and tapped it with it's beak. Both Wei and Ko were rather shocked by this, but well.. perhaps Wei's act of heroism impressed the bird and this was it's thanks. Wei was very much okay with adding a new member to her team. "Let's get it checked out a the Pokemon Center Wei, think of a name on the way." Ko smiled, grabbing Wei's arm as she headed for the cave's exit, which thankfully was just within eye-sight.

As they flew, Ajicka spotted more of the flashing objects. They did end up flying through a storm, and she and ZK got a good steam bath that left the zoroark uncomfortably fluffy in the humidity once it all evaporated, beneath his illusion, but Ajicka almost didn't even notice. Soaring over the ocean, she could see more of them-- odd, glowing objects streaking across the sky. They crashed into land, under water, disappeared past mountains. She twisted and turned, trying to catch sight of them, but they were too far away, and infrequent.
As they neared Johto, Jas suddenly let out a roar of surprise, and they swerved, diving hard to the side as something flew past them. Ajicka's head snapped around, her hair whipping about wildly as she stared after it. Whatever it was, was one of those things she'd been catching sight of. It looked almost like a meteor...
With a jab, she urged Jas to turn, and follow it, and the dragon quickly shifted his trajectory to go soaring towards an icy mountain cave...

Whatever it was had crashed into the mountain, but as Jas circled, it became clear there was a network of tunnels and caves through the mountains interior. Ajicka had him set down near the crash site, so to speak, so she could look for a way to get to it, or a nearby entrance. As she did, ZK shivered, grimacing as he got off the draconic pokemon's back, but stayed very close, earning a curious look from Jas. "You're not cold?" the zoroark asked scathingly, his arms wrapping around himself. She gave a sarcastic glance in his direction. "You are? You have fur," she drawled back, before casting her gaze back to the cave. Her foot nearly slipped as she started walking the icy exterior, investigating the area.
"Yeah, exactly," ZK muttered, looking around. An icy wind rushed past them, and he moved in to lean against Jas' large form, which radiated heat despite the low temperatures. He wondered what Kezia was up to....

Making her way to where the earth was punctured by the falling object, Ajicka knelt down, frowning as she examined the site. The earth folded in, as though it had been sucked through with the meteor, and the ice and snow around it was melted. Steam still hovered in the area, billowing out of the hole from down below. Careful not to slip, but glad the entrance wasn't too large, Ajicka leaned forward, and reached into the crater. And continued to reach. It went down a ways, it seemed, much further than she could easily get to.
Stepping back, she pulled out Durant's pokeball, and rolled it in her hand a moment. This would be her first time really interacting with the pokemon, but.... Tossing it up, she released the pokemon, caught the ball, and tucked it away on her belt. And applied a potion to the pokemon, to help it recover from the battle. "Hey, feel like running a task for me?" she asked, jerking her thumb back over her shoulder at the hole. The pokemon's red eyes gleamed up at her, the metal mandibles slowly closed, scraped together, and opened-- before it scurried over, and disappeared into the hole. Ajicka's eyebrows rose a bit, but she smirked, folding her arms over her chest. Glad it didn't have an attitude.... like some pokemon she knew.

While Ajicka waited for Durant, and listened closely for any signs of distress, her communicator went off. She reached for it distractedly, figuring it was Rose or Fynx responding, but frowned when she noticed a foreign number. In fact, it didn't seem to be a proper number at all. She frowned, hesitating to open it, but when she did, she realized it was some sort of.... global alert. Or, rather, a request. Apparently they weren't addressing the falling shards of whatever, but there was a matter of giant, dynamax (whatever that was) pokemon going crazy. Trainers were asked to help, even briefly, to chip away at the problem.
Frowning, she glanced over at ZK, who was glaring back at her, before she put her communicator away, and crouched down as the sound of something scraping got louder. Durant emerged, making a low, scrapping metal chittering sound, with something in his pincers. Reaching out, she accepted it, giving him a gracious pat, and muttering appreciation. She straightened up, returning him for the time being, and as she returned to Jas, looked the object over. How weird.... she hadn't seen something like this before. But, it would have to wait. Apparently, she had to help out with something... and maybe she could find a few more around...

Another cave and this time, in the frozen wastes of Blackthorn City. Really, these landing points were all over the map; it was as though these shards had specifically chosen to take up residence in places hardly visited by the average person. Lafayette couldn’t fight the shiver that ran down his spine as he dropped down from behind nova, instinctively wrapping the one good arm he had still around his torso in a desperate attempt to conserve his body heat. This was his last stop in Johto and hopefully, the next few places would be in more pleasant climates. He glanced down the communicator in hand, which he’d snatched from Cheri at some point so that he could confirm that they were going to the right places and that this wasn’t some wild goose chase. This was the was on the indicator map that Juliean had provided him though.

Lafayette wasn’t a fan of the cold. It wasn’t the worst of all the environmental options the world had to offer, but it wasn’t his cup of tea. And that feeling grew more as he and his crew entered the cave and his feet nearly slipped from under his feet. Ah, icy floors. Even better.
He wasn’t going to deal with this on his own. During the trip, he’d returned most of his team to varying levels of relief and disapproval. It was starting to get late after all, and they’d been hard at work with the search and it was slowly becoming late enough in the day that they deserved a break. Not him, but they did. Still, though, he didn’t want to try and stumble his way through the cave as he searched for the last shard in the region. Especially in the cold.
Snatching a ball from his belt, he unleashed Micah at his side. The Arcanine gave a snuffle and a shake of his head, giving his trainer a quizzical look. It’d been a bit since he’d been out and so it was safe to assume, he would be fine with this the task ahead.

"’Ey mate. Ya willin’ ta give meh a lift?" Lafayette patted the side of Micah’s neck, eyeing the pokemon as he made his inquiry. It was kind of silly, talking to pokemon like they were humans. But in a way, even he knew that they had the means to understand a human if they wanted too. And he’d had Micah for quite some time since he was a younger sort and the Arcanine was a Growlithe. The fire dog huffed, staring at the man a long moment before finally giving a nod of his head and kneeling enough to allow the Aussie to climb up.
"Ta Micah," Lafayette said, a smile blooming over his face as he climbed his way up onto the pokemon’s back. It was nice to be off his feet for a bit, truth be told. He didn’t hesitate to lean in closer for better balance, clinging carefully with his free hand to Micah’s mane. The Arcanine stood, peering back to Lafayette to assure he was in place before beginning the careful trek further into the cave. Unlike his trainer, Micah was steadier on his paws. It probably as well that he consistently radiated some level of heat that melted the ice underneath just enough to keep him from slipping easily.

It was a wise choice honestly to use Micah. Sure, Lafayette found himself dozing from time to time the longer they went, but he blamed that fulling on the fluff of Micah and the newfound warmth from sitting on top of the Arcanine. It was comforting and he was beginning to get tired, there was no point trying to lie about that. He’d probably need to stock up on numerous amounts of caffeine if he wanted to continue through the night. To be young and barely surviving; what a way to live.
Fortunately, they didn’t have to go too far. At first, locating the shard against the other glimmering shards of ice was difficult, and slipping in and out of consciousness meant that he wasn’t nearly on the ball like he should’ve been. Fortunately, Micah was on alert. He didn’t miss the strange energy emitting off what appeared to be an ice shard, barking at it to get his trainer’s attention.
"Mmm?" Lafayette murmured, slipping down and inspecting the area. Sure enough, there was wishing star shard on the ground, tucked in a small ice crystal pile. He snagged it up, looking it over and flashing a grin to Micah. "Nice job mate… let’s get tha’ ******** outta here."
