Personality: Hard-working and reliable, the kind of guy you'd trust to get the job done no matter what, as long as it fills his stomach and pays his bills. One could accuse him of being too simple, of being only after money and food in life and they would be half-correct. His goals in life do include becoming someone wealthy enough to stuff himself obese everyday, but he also does his work due to a sense of love and loyalty for his village and everyone in it.

Matched by his greed and hunger is his being competitive. He makes competitions and rivals out of nearly everything and everyone and this is what makes him constantly strive to better himself, to always be ten steps ahead of other people's ten steps ahead. While Kaolin's parents are Satetsu, and Kaolin is indeed their flesh and blood, he is in no way able to make use of their special abilities. Kaolin was born prematurely, and during his stay at the incubator in the Sunagakure hospital some shady folk subjected him to medical experiments in the dead of night that were supposed to make him the most powerful Satetsu in existence. The experiments backfired however and messed with his genes enough that Jiton was an impossibility for the boy.

Years later after graduating from the academy and spending some time running errand missions and training as a fresh genin, Kaolin can be found running around the village from the dojo to the academy to his house. He strives hard to become the strongest ninja for the sake of the village he loves. Till now he still hasn't realized his body cannot use Jiton, since during his academy days his body has instead leaned toward taijutsu and bukijutsu

This is because Samui's father on a training trip ventured there and came across a Shinsetsu encampment, and among them a woman with irresistible charms.
