Chapter 6: Alliance (Tale Camp)

User Image|| IC ||

After the loss at the Fairgrounds, the leaders of Tendaji had grown silent. With two of their number captured by the Obans, and many disheartened, what entreaties could be made to the scattering forces fell on deaf ears. The beasts of Tendaji were fierce indeed, but none could single-handedly stand up to the fierce Oban monsters that had crushed them before.

Months passed, and the forces who had once assembled as a united front against the Invasion scattered to the winds, back to their homes. Jauhar was all-but lost, with Chibale a standing bastion, and most other settlements abandoned to the oncoming Oban armies. The picture was bleak.

And yet, messengers began to arrive at the settlements - in a strange repetition of the previous battle, all forces were called to assemble at the border of Tale and Jauhar, the flat savannah that stretched between the forests of Tale and thinning rainforest of Jauhar.

A camp has been erected, and upon arriving at the camp, most soldiers will notice a strange, never before seen beast corralled by the leaders' tent.

What is this strange creature, why is it here?

What will the assembled forces do? The camp is open to you, and every action could very well affect the outcome of the battle to come.

Need a hand meeting the masses assembled in camp? Be sure to tag your nearest location in your post so those nearby can find you. You are NOT limited to these locations - but every new location will be added here for ease of access.

Sleeping Tents: The camp is arranged in a series of tents and open-air barracks nested beneath the thinning trees of one of Tale's nourishing forests. Around the outer perimeter, tents have been erected for families and those responding to the call of their leaders.

Supply Tents:There are supply tents which need tending, food to cook, weapons to tend to, and all the half-hearted preparations of war.

Familiar Pens: Distinct from the pen where the beast is being kept, this is where large mounts and battle familiars are being kept.

Healing Tents: A place for healers to congregate, taking care of the future casualties of war. Here, those unable to fight can try their hand at crafting potions to prepare for the battle to come. Also a mini-game, available HERE.

Commanders' Tents/Beast Pen: Near the center, beyond the bustle of camp, the leaders have set up an absolutely massive tent to take a meeting in, closed, for now, to the public. Outside of the tent, however, is a massive creature and a rather concerned looking Leaf earthling, who seems to have been left in charge of caring for it. Also a mini-game, available HERE.

[ supply tents ]

Following brief, possibly helpful visits to the Commanders' and Healing tents, Kauff finally found the weapons. He hadn't yet connected with any particular fighting style, but he was still enamored with battles of all shapes and sizes, and this was by far where he had felt the most comfortable so far.

After a bit more aimless wandering, the prentice came to the conclusion that this was also where the cooking would be done, which was certainly a boon. While he wasn't the most imaginative of chefs, he had proven his ability to prepare edible meals during his time on the road. He didn't know how well he'd do if he had to follow instructions, but anything was worth a shot if it helped to keep them all alive.

Perhaps it had been a mistake to come here. From his place among the trees, Xilarn grimaced at the huddle of tents that made of the Resistance encampment and the natives tending them. It had been ridiculously easy to agree to Kennet's invitation to join him at the camp with the hybrid man standing right next to him. But now that Xil was alone, hood drawn up and body tucked away in the shade of a few large trees, he was starting to wonder if he'd really thought this through enough.

He didn't imagine he'd be particularly welcome in the camp by anyone's standards. Not that he could blame them, of course. He doubted he'd be that thrilled to see anyone that looked remotely similar to someone who'd killed or captured his friends or family either. Xil huffed softly, rubbing at the back of his neck and restlessly shifting his weight from foot to foot as he wondered what the flip he should do next.

The was a quiet 'ruff', a flutter of wings brushing against his arm, and then Gadot, his raptrix companion, carelessly strolled from his side and toward the tents. "Stupid animal," Xilarn grumbled. "Trying to get us killed..."

The recent past had been a very long road for the archer. She had that humiliating performance at the last battle, and then the joyous occasion of her and Sauron and then the kids. She had to train a lot to get back to where she was, but she was better for it. It was a relief to her that all the people had regrouped to make a stand. Now with their home most likely in the hands of the Obans, its really all they could do. Kelina studied the beast in front of her and she had to wonder where they had found it at. If her sister were here, she would surely be marveling at it. But, unfortunately Kel didn't exactly know the whereabouts of her sister much to her worry. She would just have to make sure to tell her about it the next time she saw her.

Kaalnia – Alkidike Blade
Supply Tents: Assisting with Preparations

Kaalnia felt... odd. Driven. Angry. They had lost, despite the hope and preparations and energy, and things were going wrong everywhere.

Well.

Stuff that. She was going to make things right. She wasn't going to screw up again, not again. Kaalnia had sharpened her spear to the sharpest point it would go and, grimly, was determined to use it this time. No more sitting in the camp doing grunt work – it was time for her to head out on the lines.

Unfortunately, there were no lines yet. So, feeling antsy and annoyed, she had found herself back in the supply tents doing grunt work again. “How many leafing things do you need for a battle?!” she complained grouchily to herself, “Not this many, that's for sure...”

Peyla flitted around the camp anxiously, checking and re-checking tents and drawers, pestering every alkidike she came across in the hopes that maybe – just maybe – she had somehow missed Dyakida among them.

Her search was fruitless and, with a chime of despair, the sprite settled onto one of the tents and muttered unhappily.

She had failed in her mission.

Ikkio – Shifter/Ice Prentice
Beast's Tent: Foraging, Talking to Kelina

Ikkio had studied the beast and found it interesting and had moved on to other interesting things... like finding food for the monster and observing the people around it. She was happy to be back at the battlefield again – it almost felt like home. She was eager for a chance to assist in the healer's tend and hold a person's life in her hands again... But of course, she would not tell her father that. Daddy was tricky and hard to fool. He would kick her out of the healer's tent faster than you could say knife.

So, she was avoiding him for the time being – the less he saw of her, the more likely it would be that he wouldn't look twice when his daughter offered to help.

It was such a shame that Ikuri and Zuri had not been able to show up: Ikuri's absence, of course, was felt more than her mother's. Still, this gave Ikkio a chance to show that she was the better twin, something she always relished.

She had seen Aysun around somewhere and here was a shifter she knew: older than her, but – she doubted – wiser. Still, she was interested in the creature and Ikkio was, otherwise, bored.

”Well, hello.” she said, walking up to the older woman, a smirk on her face, ”Isn't it a gorgeous animal?”

Finnley had been one busy shifter in the weeks past. From helping her mentor give birth to all of the different things she's learned along the way. Finnley's confidence was growing right along with her knowledge. It seemed the more she knew, the more confident she became. Finn thought she could attribute this boost to meeting three very special people. The first, someone who she thought of as one of her closest friends, Ime. The other two were Natsu and Viveka.

She only had a small group of friends, but she was okay with that. Often times she had a hard time speaking to someone she didn't know before hand. As she thought about those three special people, she wondered if they were here. "Surely they are..." She thought to herself as she sat on a stool in the healing tents. It was the place she was most often found. She couldn't sleep much for fear of not being ready when the time of battle came. She worked tirelessly on potions and on occasion a poison or two if requested by a superior. She sighed to herself and added a few more ingredients to her bowl to grind together.

Rastian - Monk (Staff)
Location: By the sleeping tents with Yaholo -> Drunk and depressed
Post: 1

"You just don't understand Yaholo!" Rastian cried as he stumbled about, the scent of rum still heavy in his breath. "Senja was captured, MY SENJA! She was pregnant with...My baby-OUR-baby and-JUST YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!"

He moved to pound his hands against Yaholo's chest and dissolved into sobs as the other man grabbed his head and tugged him towards the sleeping tents.

Yaholo - Brute
Location: By the sleeping tents with Rastian; Heading to the supply tents afterwards -> Frustrated
Post: 1

Yaholo heaved a heavy, agonized sigh, and tugged Rastian towards the sleeping tents. He didn't know who had given the Monk the flask in the first place, but if he ever found out, he'd make sure they got a smack to the face. They needed healers out here, espescially those who had some experience, and Rastian was one of those healers. However, now that he'd gotten himself smashed like this, he was of little use. He shoved Rastian onto a cot in the room and placed his staff in the corner, before heading to the door again.

"You are to stay here until you get your head screwed on straight, you understand me?" He growled. "If I catch you stumbling around like this again, I'll throw you back to Sauti, I freaking swear."

He then closed the door and made his way back towards the Supply Tents. Hopefully Samoset had gotten adjusted to working, because Yaholo really didn't feel like biting his tongue.

Samoset - Prentice (Training to be a Blade)
Location: Supply tents -> Handing out supplies
Post: 1

Samoset wasn't sure what he had gotten himself into when he agreed to help hand out supplies, but it was easier than he had originally thought it was going to be. People came asking for stuff, he would go fetch it, and they would go along their merry way. It was kind of fun, for lack of a better word.

"Hnnn, I wonder what Kennet's doing..." He mumbled, checking the inventory for another spare food pouch.

Kennet - Blade (Spear)
Location: Camp Outskirts -> Following Xilarn
Post: 1

Kennet was officially bored with the camp and had settled down close to where he had seen Xilarn approaching. He didn't know if the other man could see him or not as he made his way through the shade of the trees, but figured that he wouldn't been too frightened to see him.

"Glad you came." He greeted, offering Xil a smile. "It's about as fun here as a funeral..."

Iroia fed the beast then wandered to the edge of camp, there was no fighting ring how sad. She scowled at nothing and wondered when Ruelash would get here, he had become like a part of her a twin brother almost, he was the only one to really really understand her so far....was that a raptrix? What was it doing all the way out here? She slunk down into the grass and stalked forward, seeming to disapear although she had been standing straight up and visible not moments ago. She was confident in her body if not her social skills. A raptrix would have to belong to someone or was a distraction tactic by the opposite side. She saw a mixed alkidike and relaxed, then she saw another form. Two alkidike mixes then? She could see Kennet so she went to him first.

"So I'm not the only one stuck in the middle of camp." she said as she melted out of the grass hoping she hadn't startled the male. She was fast so he probably wouldn't land a hit if he tried...she hoped. Please recognize me.

Kiyelt followed the rumors about the beastie to his pen. It looked like a really big, horribly adorable lizard. Iniu, his sailscale was not impressed and Norcrest was asleep inside his shirt and so had not comment. He leaned on the rail immediately thinking he wanted one..but he didn't even know a thing about it. It could eat its riders in his sleep or have a venomous bite but still it was a glorious creature. He sighed happily, new critters...a war to fight. There was only one thing that could make this better. But he had no idea where his sweet siren was.

That deflated him a bit but he focused again on the might beastie and soon became absorbed in that. Something completely new and he got to see it! Score one for the Beast Charmer!

Gaddok: Post 1
Location: Outskirts of camp(Just Arriving)---> Heading toward Healing Tents

'Free at last~' Gaddok thought as he stretched out his arms. It's been a long trip from Iory to the Tale/ Jauhar border, but he finally made it... Luckily he had a traveling companion to keep him company. The Sailscale uncoiled from his shoulder and flaunted about in his new attire; a parting gift from his mother. Gaddok's mother hadn't been pleased with his departure, but was fortunate he actually took the time to say his goodbyes; Learned his lesson.

The last few months has found Gaddok bedridden from a horrific accident in the Mountains of Sauti. His wounds have closed, bones healed, but his muscles ached; from travel he told himself, but deep down he knew he wasn't 100%. Recovering was hard on him, sitting in bed all day taking orders from a snarly healer that didn't have time for "opposing views". Gaddok was patient, He followed orders to a T and with very little complaint... He had a mission: "Get to Tale." And finally all that paid off.

Standing at the edge of town Gaddok had one topic on his mind... Sathe. There were many things swirling around his busy mind, but he knew he wouldn't get answers until he was able to see her for himself. Knowing she would be at the healers tent, He didn't waste time making his way across camp to the Healing Tents to try his luck at finding her.

Duke Edward Drake

Yelena walked around the camp and pet Aril who stayed close to her. And Icewalker stayed very close to her from behind. The big Mammu seemed just as over protective of her as her little Aril was. It was rather cute and she loved them. She heard someone talking about a beast here and walked over to the pen where it was. She looked at it and it was just so cute. She wanted to go hug it. In her pocket she found a few berries that she hadn't eaten yet. She held them out to the beast and giggled as it devoured them. "You were hungry weren't you big guy?" She beamed at the adorable beast and snuggled her two companions. They seemed to enjoy it even if they pretended not to. She smiled just so happy to be somewhere new. Somewhere not home. Home had all those strange memories. And she had to have imagined that ice guy. It was all a hallucination. She toyed with the metal pendant. She must have found it and pretended a guy gave it to her. How sad.

Mella- supply tents headed toward beast tents
Post 1

Leaving the supply tent area Mella had just pulled Telwren out from under a basket of food stuffs that was for the fighters. Sighing she had no idea what she was going to do with him. It seemed all he wanted to was to eat things that did not belong to him. Tapping his head she tried to scold him but she got the distint feeling that that there was no way he was really listening to her. Mella was trying to figure out where she could actually be of use. She remembered from her last experience at a war camp that the healers tents were really not a place for those like her who had weak stomachs. Making a mental note to check for her friends later just in case she recognized a few. Telwren’s chirp did give her an idea. She cloud head on over to the beast area and help take care of the animals, after all who wanted to clean up dung? She would do it since it was easier than dealing with blood and wounds. She changed her direction just a bit to head for the beast area.
