At the request of 1inaBILLION, I've created this new thread. I heard there were a lot of parallels between Edgar Allan Poe and Charles Baudelaire's friendship and the story. There was a fan essay on it that I read on thequietworld.com. I found it really interesting. Here it is: http://www.thequietworld.com/editorials.php?page=ase4Has anyone else come across these parallels or done their own research?

I just realized that there was a Baudelaire poem supposedly in the rare edition of Book the First. Graciously copied from Kipluck's notes in the Book the First: SE thread. Quote: p. 162 . . . just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it isn't so. . . -C Baudelaire If you are interested in a translation there's a good one in that thread. ^_^

I think these books are far to entwined to have ANY mere coincidences. I truly heart these books. Handler/Snicket is a GENIUS! blaugh

Shakespeare was also listed as one of LS's associates.

Thanks for the input! Oh, I would love to go through all the books and search for secrets but I'm too busy with homework at the moment. Darn homework! mad There are some very interesting things in the Unaurthorized Autobiography, though. That's where I learnt the code and so I could decipher the passage in the Penultimate Peril. whee I love codes, don't you?
