In Suadi Arabia, there was a family known not only for its wealth, but for the wisdom that seems to lurk within every member. This line is several centuries old, dating back to the Ottomans themselves. They were rich with tradition and custom, and were widely accepted as being the most influential of families. Yet, they fell from grace after rumors were spread of 'dark magic', where one could conjure up anything in the form of a wish. The clan was forced to leave their desert home, and migrate northwest to Greece, and eventually Italy. Centuries passed and the family kept their knowledge of the magical world a secret, fearing that would be chased once again. Slowly, the rare blood was thinned, and magic became a thing of fiction.
One day, however, the stories were made real once more. A man, now rather distant from the Arabian line, married a women whose own heritage carried something odd: a gene that is closely associated with special humans, the kind that belong within the magical veil. This gene mixed strangely with the man's own amount of inhuman blood, which was discovered to be that of a genie's. Their daughter was born with the ability to catch snippets of thoughts and emotions, along with the gift of foresight, though such visions are extremely rare.
From the moment she was born, Katrina was taught about magic and the veil. Though usually overwhelming, she has managed to gain a shaky control over her talents through years of education. When she turned eighteen, she decided to take a risk on her own, traveling until she discovered the small town of Janhall. Instantly falling in love with it's quaint atmosphere, she spent the better part of a year immersing herself into the life of the town, eventually becoming a trusted ally in the removal of the Veil. That day, when the Veil was taken down, three precious gems were imbued with the spells used to keep it at bay. One of those gems, an emerald, was entrusted to Katrina after an attempted theft by the Veil Supporters.
