OOC: HOW THIS WORKS

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
[ How this Works: ] This is a CYOA adventure. You can choose one CHOICE from the spoiler tags. This determines the choice your character makes. Follow the spoiler tags (ONE CHOICE EACH TIME) until you hit the OOC ending. This is the path your character takes. Write accordingly.
- You can only do this run ONCE EVER

Example:

Do battle:
You have won!

Do not do battle:
You have been defeated!

Your character can only choose ONE of those two options (EITHER do battle, or do not do battle). They cannot have both, just one. Once they have, proceed to the next choice. They cannot choose both, just one. Keep on selecting choices until you hit an OOC TAG ending.

You can only accomplish this quest ONCE.
8.13.2013 - THIS THREAD HAS BEEN UPDATED! Please read the announcement here!

The cavern lies on the side of the spiral. It doesn't look like much: a wide, dark gap set not quite halfway up one of the three massive Spirals. It would be easy to ignore it, easy to overlook if not for the fact that something can be seen going in and out of it.

It's even more suspicious when the Goddess of Ruin herself can be seen making the trip up the spire to it, disappearing only to reappear hours later.

The path is easy to find and easier to follow. Three bright red slashes left on ruins indicate the path to follow. Eventually you make it to the cave.

The inside of the cavern is lit by the cracks on the wall. Each crack is in an odd shape, yet there is enough light to make out the contents of the room. It is bare, with a raised slab of rock in the middle. A simple bowl-like object rests on top of it.

Examine the Alter
At one point the alter was a slab of rock. However, the fact that each corner is ruined with red cracks lead to the suspicion that someone had cut this into shape. The top of it is rough and uneven, while the sides of it appear to have simple shapes cut into it.

Examine the Bowl
The bowl is large, and too heavy to lift. Even with the assistance of three others the best that can be managed is a small less than an inch lift before the bowl is dropped again.

The sides of the bowl are decorated with simplistic shapes matching the alter.

Examine the Shapes
Present on the alter, bowl, and walls are many simplistic shapes. Some are easy to pick out: here is the crescent moon seen on the Goddess herself, whereas there is another one that makes your brain itch. Where have you seen it before?

The shapes on the walls are cut deeper and larger than the ones on the alter and bowl. These appear to let in more light, allowing the room to be illuminated.

From the back of the cavern something stirs. You can hear the muffled thud of each step as a large beast emerges from the darkness, staring at you with dull glowing eyes. It is large; in a single bound it could jump over the table and swallow you whole. What will you do?

Attack

With a yell you charge the creature and engage it in combat!

The OOC

You have chosen to engage the creature in combat. At this point please CREATE A BATTLE PRP THREAD. In it, please post the following into the FIRST POST of your thread.

Anyone who participates in this battle MAY NOT continue the Ruined Alter. Once you begin combat, you may not flee. However, if you are defeated you respawn IN THE SAME ROOM at full HP and may continue to battle until it is defeated.

Fighting this creature does NOT start/affect any cool-downs. In addition, you may NOT co-op this. You may create a group, however all participants would then be unable to complete another route in the Ruined Alter. Should you wish to fight this mob with other people, it is advised to arrange it so that all five of you are fighting the same mob in the same thread.

Hold still.
The creature appears to be waiting for something. You notice that its eyes are drawn to the bowl. With a start, you realize it's looking at you and to the bowl and back. There also appears to be something next to the bowl that you didn't notice before: it is long and thin with vibrant red cracks along the side of it. At first glance it looked like it was part of the pattern on the table. After picking it up, you realize it is a knife.

You are being watched. The creature's dull eyes do not look away from you as it waits for you to make a move.

Use the knife to attack.

With a yell you charge the creature and engage it in combat!

The OOC

You have chosen to engage the creature in combat. At this point please [EXIT] this thread and create a new one. In it, please post the following into the FIRST POST of your thread.

Alas, using the knife does not change your stats. If you DO NOT have a weapon yet, your stats are this:
HP: 30/30
Damage Dice: 2d6-6

Anyone who participates in this battle MAY NOT continue the Ruined Alter. Once you begin combat, you may not flee. However, if you are defeated you respawn IN THE SAME ROOM at full HP and may continue to battle until it is defeated.

Should you wish to fight this mob with other people, it is advised to arrange it so that all five of you are fighting the same mob in the same thread.

In addition, as you caught it off guard, for the first three rounds you do not need to modify your attack. ie, if you normal attack is 2d6-6, when you roll your 2d6 the result is the damage you deal. After the first three rounds, the modifier returns.

Cut yourself with the knife.

You run the knife across your palm and hold it over the bowl. You feel... something leave your body to fall into the bowl below. The creature's gigantic head pushes you back and away from it, lapping the contents of the bowl up before you can see it.

It looks at you. It bows its massive head. When it lifts itself you realize that its eyes are no longer dull. They are sharp with a definite glow to them. The feeling of gratitude envelops you as the creature steps back, nodding towards the bowl.

You step forward and look into the bowl. Before you can grab onto the edge of the bowl for support you find yourself sucked in!

You land with a thud onto the ground, wincing. You crack your eyes open and realize that you're... not where you were originally. The sky is nothing but gray fog.

An inner voice screams at you to move!

Move Left.

You roll aside as something bright and shining slams into the ground just moments where you were before. You spring to your feet, cloak flapping about you as you dance back on instinct. Wait -- cloak? This isn't you. But for now it is.

You roll aside as something bright and shining slams into the ground just moments where you were before. You spring to your feet, cloak flapping about you as you dance back on instinct. Wait -- cloak? This isn't you. But for now it is.

Something roars at you to focus. It occurs to you then that you don't need a weapon: you are one. There is much that you can do, so much that you realize you have plenty of choices.

Use your hands.

Hands? You allow yourself a smile as your hands grow in size and density, the formerly delicate appendages becoming solid muscle and claw. Your claws are as sharp as metal, so much so that you easily block the glowing weapon as your opponent swings it at you. You slash with your free hand, scoring a hit on your opponent. They wince and recoil, giving you a chance to press the attack and drive them back.

Continue using your han-er, claws.

Fighting makes you feel alive. It is something you are comfortable using, as claws do not need to be reloaded. The thickness travels up your arms, covering them in thick fur for extra protection. You are practically dancing circles around your opponent, blocking and parrying as they proceed to slash at you.

Continue fighting hand to weapon.

You are proud of your body and your control over it. You had mastery of it before, and something made you lose it. But you regained it, and from that feat of achievement your pride comes forth.

But too much pride leads to overconfidence, overconfidence that leads to your downfall. Your opponent feinted and you fell for it. Your claws do nothing as they press against your belly attempting to hold yourself together. The glowing weapon is pressed against your chin, forcing you to look up.

A rare smile crosses your opponents lips. With a light flick of their wrist, your head is disconnected from your body. You watch your body slump forward before your world turns black.

Quote:

You feel something uncomfortably familiar. You realize that you've experienced this before. Perhaps you did die previously, or perhaps it was a near death experience. Maybe it was a time when it felt like you were.

You've temporarily regained a memory of when you brought yourself down, either on purpose or accident. It could have been a mistake, it could have been a matter of stubborn pride.

The memory melts like frost on a windowpane, and soon you are left with nothing once again.

You find yourself back in the alter. The beast is gone and the lights are dim. There is nothing for you here anymore. You leave, and never return.

Use another skill.

Claws aren't your only trick. You slash at your opponent one last time before you dance back, preparing yourself. You know another trick, another way to deal with this. Your opponent knows what it is, too -- but that's not going to stop you.

You know it's ready. You can feel the power as it thrums across your skin, feel the sheer force that builds inside you.

Something pulses and flows over you as you grow bigger. A feeling of elation courses through your veins as you indulge in it, yet you can hear... something.

Ignore it.

You ignore the voices as you grow in size. Your opponent continues to attack you, however their attacks are nothing more than brief pinpricks of pain. Here... Here you are powerful. You stretch your wings, throwing back your head with a roar. You are more than powerful. Here, you are a Goddess.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Your opponent is nothing. It is too easy to grab them and hold them aloft. It is even easier to squeeze slowly and watch them struggle until they move no more, to watch as their bright glowing weapon shivers and becomes nothing as it shatters against the ground far below. You open your massive hands and let your former opponent fall, cackling as you take off to soar the foggy skies. This is your domain now.

Quote:

Freedom. It is a word that represents a feeling of lightlessness, yet it weighs heavily on your mind. There is something calming about the way the wind carries you up and above the fog covered spires, granting you a moment of peace.

For a fleeting instant you feel what it's like to be without attachments. No obligations, no duties, no one telling you what to do. In a way it is euphoric, yet at the same time a part of you realizes that you are truly alone.

The sensation fades.

You awaken with a jolt back in the cavern. The lights in the cavern are dark, the red fading to a dull crimson as if bled dry. There is nothing left for you here. You leave.

Listen to the roar.

Something strains in you, trying to hold you back. You realize then what would happen if you gave in too much. There is much danger to be had here and your opponent isn't the most dangerous.

With a roar your mighty jaws unhinge as vivid white fire erupts forth, bathing your opponent in flames. They stagger back. You lunge forward and slash, dancing back and laughing as they return blow for blow.

In the end there is only one standing: you. You look down at your fallen opponent, smirking as the light reflects off their broken glasses. You raise a foot and bring it down, head raised as their bright weapon fades.

You walk over to it, leading behind a trail of something sticky and wet before bringing your foot down on that, too.

Victorious, you throw your head back and howl before you take to the skies to survey your new domain.

Quote:

You can't help but to shake the feeling you've paid a heavy price. Something teases at the edges of your memory -- have you done something similar before? Have you paid for something only to regret it, or to feel as if it wasn't quite enough?

Perhaps you did, or perhaps you did not. As the euphoria fades, so too does the memory and vision.

Listen to the whisper.

It is a soft voice, one that you are surprised to hear. It promises ---. That has your attention. --- was something you yearned and strove for, yet it was elusive and beyond your grasp. The voice whispers that it can grant it to you.

All you needed to do was ---

Try to kill your opponent.

How long have the pair of you done this? It was always the same. Clash and break, rinse and repeat. It was a cycle that continued and would continue for time and time again.

For now as your opponent knocks you back, striking before you can recover, it was just a minor setback. As your opponent raises their weapon, you take comfort in the fact that you know you will return again.

Quote:

Life is nothing but an endlessly turning wheel. There are times when you ride it up and bask in good fortune, only to tumble down and be crushed mercilessly by it as it runs you over. Sometimes the ride is short, sometimes it is long. Your mind is teased with the thoughts and experiences of another, seemingly familiar as if they had happened to you. It isn't long before these thoughts plummet, and the wheel crushes you anew.

Try to take your opponent's weapon.

"What the ******** are you doing?!" Your opponent's face twists into rage as you grab hold of the shining weapon. You and he begin to struggle and fight for dominance over it. "Don't you ******** dare --"

Try to rip the weapon out of their hands.

You are not like your opponent. You are better. Stronger. Unique. It's child's play to rip it from their grasp in this place. Before it would be harder, the two of you on equal ground. But here? Here, at the cost of --- you are stronger. The price is well worth it.

The weapon feels light in your hands. You feel a dreaded elation, one that rises as your opponent dares to raise their voice. They lunge at you.

You block them with their own your weapon, raising it to smack them down. Something crunches on contact.

Your opponent is now at your feet, stunned.

Kill.

A bubbling laughter sings as the weapon is brought down, cleaving the opponent in two. Freedom. You soak in it, basking in its glow as the grip around the weapon tightens.

The whisper reminds you that in order to get ---, you still need to ---.

Do it.

It is done.

With weapon in hand, you turn to survey your new kingdom.

Quote:

But a lingering question remains: was it worth it?

Mercy.

You smirk as you hold out your hand, palm towards your fallen opponent. Here in this land, your new kingdom you can feel the power just waiting to be used. You draw it into your hand and placed it atop your opponent's head. You've won.

You can't help but to smile as you feel them break beneath your hand.

You can't help but to smile as you feel them break beneath your hand.

But that can be done another time. You leave your defeated opponent behind as you rest the weapon on your shoulder, ready to survey your new kingdom.

They were nothing but a toy, a puppet by which you mercilessly pulled the strings. Perhaps the movements were familiar, perhaps they weren't. Were you taking advantage of them, or were they taking advantage of you?

Perhaps you may recall a time when you were in charge of another. Perhaps you had power. Perhaps you abused it. Perhaps you were reminded of the memory briefly, before it fades away.

Try to pull the weapon out of their hands.

You tug and pull, trying to force it out of their hands. For a moment you think you are victorious as the weapon comes closer, only to double over as your opponent kicks you in the stomach.

Your opponent then rips the weapon from your hands, bringing the curved blade down. The cut is clean and swift; you feel nothing as you collapse.

Spit in their face then try to take the weapon.

You spit in their face. Even though your spit is bright white fire, spitting into someone's eyes are useless when they wear glasses. Your opponent wears a look of absolute disgust as the two of you struggle for supremacy over the weapon.

It is too bad then that neither of you notice the edge of the cliff until it is too late. The pair of you tumble over the edge, still fighting over the weapon.

While you know you could let go and fly away, you also know that your opponent would be able to get in one last slash and kill you. You will not give them the pleasure. Instead the two of you are eventually enguled by the fog, lost.

Quote:

A compromise, then. You do not truly get what you desired, but nor did your opponent. Give and take what you can; that is the way of life.

You awaken with a jolt back in the cavern. The lights in the cavern are dark. There is nothing left for you here. You leave the cavern, never to return.

Utilize your other skill.

You do not have just claws. You have more to you, more that your pitiful opponent doesn’t have. Your opponent has a weapon. You had one, too. While it is no longer here, you still have its power.

You take in a breath and hold it, releasing a great torrent of white fire at your opponent.

You realize too late that your opponent, too, is not like the rest. They slash and cleave the air itself, sparing themselves the bright fire.

The two of you clash again and again. In the end, neither of you have power to stand. The two of you are locked in an eternal struggle, ending only when the fog engulfs the both of you once and for all.

Quote:

Sometimes there is never a clear winner. Sometimes everyone ends up as a loser. These cold truths are hard to swallow, yet impossible to deny their possibility.

Use your power.

There is more to you than expected. You are not like your opponent. You are different. You are powerful, you are dangerous, you are--

-- a fool, a voice whispers.

You look down to see the weapon lodged into your stomach. With a sickening crunch and squelch your opponent twists the weapon. You try in vain to catch yourself as you fall to pieces, helpless as your legs give out from under you.

The weapon is twisted before it cleaves you in half from the bottom up. Your last thought is that at least your opponent wasn't expecting the mess. Already they were grimacing at the dark stains now present on their previously pristine outfit. If you had breath, perhaps you would apologize for bleeding onto them.

As it was, you allow yourself to slip into oblivion instead.

Quote:

You yielded the field without a fight. Does such an action bring you pride? Or do you wear your shame like a cloak and hide within its hood?

Stay Still.

The roar in your mind is silenced as something sinks into your skull. You open your eyes. It is painful. Something bright and glowing is in front of your vision, but you can still catch the look of dumbfounded disbelief on your murderer's face before everything fades to black.

...You shouldn't have done that...

For unknown reason, Decyl had decided to follow the Goddess of Ruin. Where does she go? He had wondered, and this curiosity had leaded him all the way to the Ruined Alter.

What is this place, he had wondered, before cautiously wandering into to take a look at the odd shapes that litter not only the altar, but the bowl and walls as well. That shape, the goddess had that…but what about the other?

Ahh, he knew he had seen it before…but where?

Thud.

…What was that?

Decyl turned, but wasn’t quick enough as a large shadow with dull eyes appeared and jumped over the table.

Oh s**t. Decyl couldn’t move.

It…wasn’t attacking? No, it looked like it was waiting but for what? What is it waiting for? Observing the creature some more, Decyl could see that it was looking back and forth between him…and the bowl. Was he supposed to put something in there? He gave it a thoughtful look before edging closer to the bowl.

A knife…How could he have missed it? There was a knife beside the bowl, but what was it for?

The creature is still staring at him. What does it want him to do? Stab himself? Oh you have got to be kidding. Not really sure if it was a wise move, Decyl stabs his hand above the bowl and watches as something falls into the bowl below. He couldn’t really figure out what it was that fell as the beast shoved him out of the way for a meal. However, it seems it had an effect on the creature for the dullness in its eyes disappeared. The creature seemed grateful for some reason.

Odd.

Decyl took note of the odd creature’s encouragement for him to go near the bowl…now why was…

Oh s**t.

There was no time for him to grab onto anything before he was sucked in. Where was he n—

MOVE

He suddenly rolled to the left and he was nearly struck by something…a cloak? What? Well if it’s a fight they want, they’ll have one. Looking at his ha—claws. They’re claws. He charged at the enemy. He strike at them over, and over again and while the feeling of the fight makes him feel oh so alive…there was always the eventual hour of defeat.

Thankfully, it wasn’t his. Or that was what he thought.

The figure had faked their defeat, and while he wasn’t looking, struck him hard. A stab from nowhere, and then a smile…the figure was smiling, before they disconnected his head. His world turned black.

When Decyl finally regain consciousness again, he found himself at the altar before. The beast was gone, and the room seems to have darkened since the last he remembered. He had already fed his curiosity for the day. And his body seems to be paying for it for some reason.

He turns to leave.

From time to time, Ixyguin thought that she had seen a figure--the Goddess of Ruin--traveling to and from an area near the Spire. Although she feared what would happen if she were to be caught, the girl let her curiosity lead her by the hand that day, guiding her to the path that the Goddess so often followed. It was not hard to find--the bright red slashes stood out in stark contrast to the rest of the dully-colored environment. Slowly, she began her trek onwards.

It didn't take her long until she reached the cave, and upon slipping in, she noticed with some confusion that the cracks running along the walls were slightly unusual looking. Upon walking in further, she realized that there was a bowl sitting atop something akin to an altar, a fact that set the already-nervous girl on edge. What exactly went on in here?

She moved towards the walls next, hesitating before reaching out and running her fingers against the edge of one of the cracks. They were not random, jagged lines that ran through the walls, but shapes. Shapes that had been on the bowl, and the rock that it had been resting on as well.

Hhm...

Before she could dwell on it for long, her thoughts were abruptly interripted by the sound of heavy footsteps. Bristling in alarm, she whirled around, eyes darting back and forth as she searched for the source. Of course, said source was rather hard to miss--once it emerged from the darkness, Ixyguin immediately balked, intimidated by its large size. Even if she were to run, there would be no way for her to get away in time.

But it does not attack. She hesitates, and then realizes that it is looking at something--the bowl, and then her. What did it expect for her to do? Warily, she backed into the altar without taking her eyes off of the creature, and then she notices it--a knife.

...No. No, it seems too dangerous, too reckless to give her blood to some unknown cause. However, it is not as if her next idea is any wiser--clutching the knife in hand, she turns to face the creature and gets ready for a fight she's sure that she'll regret.

Finale had spent a few hours mulling by herself in the throws of everything - a very rare and desired break from everything - a moment away from her little entourage, whether it was Decyl, Hekhis, or even the little one Igny. She had returned to her homeland, or what felt like her starting spot, the spirals, and had left herself some time to do actual exploring, which brought her to this strange place - one that she had seen the Goddess lose herself in.

Spending a fair bit of time looking around this new room, she couldn't help but examine the bowl, soaking in it's design, and allowing it to be filled with even more questions, eyes flicking between it, and the altar. What purpose they filled was beyond her, but she did not have long to mull it over before the shadows behind the cavern decided to rustle - a movement that was furthest from what shadows normally did, followed by a resounding thud.

She did not move.

Or, it was safer to say, at the time, she could not move, the creature's glare had her almost paralyzed, it's dulled stare making her antsy. What would it do? She watched it for a few moments, realizing that it had not yet attacked her, the strong creature almost mulling over it's own decisions, constantly returning it's eyes bowl. After a long breath, she saw it too - a knife that glinted in the dull lights, something she had not noticed at first, which struck her as odd.

Regardless, she moved finally, a slow shuffle at first, her feet dragging across the floor, before she decided that it was safe - it would not pull the first punches, as it were. She sized it uh, a quiet regard between strength and power, wondering what options she had. A bowl, presented in front of her, an enticing feeling. Seeing no other choice, she offered it what it appeared to want, cutting a small mark in her palm, which only added to the aggitated wounds that were there already.

The feeling that she experienced, as she watched her hand weep lightly from the wound, was anything but what she expected, a strange feeling of loss flushing over her again, not a normal feeling, by any. But it was done, and the creature seemed . . . almost grateful for what she had done, it's eyes glowing in a more saturated colour, one that nearly echoed the pulsing shade of her own heart. It wasn't until then that she noticed a heaviness growing in her mind, a drawing towards the bowl as she went to lurch towards it, looking down at what had fallen in, when an unsettling feeling of falling washed over her.

Blackout.

With a rough and sudden thudding, she fell to the ground again, eyes opening sluggishly at first, taking in the suroundings - it seemed strange, and foreign, not where she had been before. A nagging feeling suddenly ripped through her temporary thought proccess, and in a short moment, she instinctively turned left, barely evading a bright weapon of sort, eyes soaking in the colour of red flowing around her. From where it came from, she was not sure, but it was evident - she was not in her original form, but for now, she would use it.

The weapon came back at her again, and in a split second, she held up her hands, which had grown in size and weight, large claws portruding from where delicate hands had been before, a battle starting between herself and the intruder. The opponent, whom ever this silly person was. They of all people should have known not to mess with her. She continued this action for a while, , knowing full well that this was not the least she could do, almost toying with the man before her.

It had beyond her when she realized that she had changed, a new form, and a new skill that she almost instinctively knew from the bottom of somewhere inside her. A winning combonation. She would not lose.

But once again, a sound ripped through her, a roar that broke the wickedness, and she knew full well after a sobering moment that if she did not watch herself, she would be overwhelmed. Engulfed. Finale would not let that happen.

The battle continued, a renewed energy coursing through her now strong body, the opponent an easy prey, never expecting what they had come up against. She stood victorious, her large body too much for this prey, who laid lifeless under her, weapon's brightness dulled by her own.

This was hers.

Her domain.

After a short while, Finale woke up with a start, sitting at the alter that she had found herself in before hand, lights dulled from beforehand. Her mind swam with the thoughts she had prior, an uncertainty washed over her. Instead of leaving quite yet, she decided to sit and mull a little further, before she moved on again . . .

After some exploration, Nush found himself at a cave near the spire. It didn't really garner a whole lot of attention from him, but he noticed the goddess wandering into it. This piqued his curiosity, and he found himself heading on in as well.

Inside, he noticed that the walls were cracked and lit. But aside from that, there was an altar at the center. A large bowl rested upon the altar, and a number of symbols decorated the area around it. At some point while he was looking this over, a large beast had shown up. He narrowed his eye, looking it over. It was a fearsome thing with dull eyes. No doubt it could tear him apart if it wanted to.

He crouched down defensively, then held still. It was watching him, and he would watch to see what it would do in turn. For awhile the two stayed put. Perhaps this creature was waiting for something. Nush looked to see just where it was staring at. It didn't take long to see that it seemed to be looking back and forth between him and the bowl. He wasn't really sure what to make of this.

It was then that he realized there was something near the bowl. Nush took this and looked it over. It was a knife. There was the temptation of attacking, but the beast had made no hostile movements as of yet. Yes, it was a little unsettling to see it staring at him like it was, but it didn't seem entirely malicious. It was waiting for something. But what? He looked between the knife, the bowl, and the great beast, trying to think. There was something about the bowl... Bowls are meant to be filled. It was big enough. Maybe as a water bowl for the beast. Or something else entirely.

With a bit of hesitation, he decided to cut himself. He sliced his palm and held it over the bowl. Something dripped on out. Was it blood? Did he bleed? He wasn't certain. The beast began to move, pushing him back and beginning to drink the contents. It seemed that he was right about one thing. He took an extra step back while gripping the knife still, warily watching the creature.

When the beast lifted its head again, he noticed that its eyes now glowed. He gave a sort of half-bow in return but then saw it step back and nod towards the bowl. Did it want more blood? Nush frowned lightly at this notion, but stepped closer anyway. He never really had a chance to think about it much more as the bowl began to try and suck him in. He fought against it, but it was to no avail.

With a grunt, he hit the ground. The bowl had sent him somewhere. Though he couldn't tell just... where this was. Before he could get a better feel of where he was exactly, he heard a voice from within shouting him to move.

And so he quickly moved.

Rolling off to the side, he just caught sight of something bright slamming into the ground. He also quickly realized that he was wearing a cloak right now. Where the hell did that come from? Something was not right here. He never really had the chance to think about it more, as something roared at him to keep focus.

Right.

Focus. Focus.

It dawned on him that he could do a number of things in this situation. But for now, he decided to not draw on that. He lunged out with his hands. Wait. No. They were claws, weren't they? He was able to parry aside the radiant weapon, and deal a fair amount of damage in their own right. Yes. This would do for now. He continued to strike his foe repeatedly. It gave him an odd rush. He danced with his opponent in a deadly manner. The weapon wielder slashed at him, and he just continued on like this.

He took notice that more of his body had shifted. Right. There was more to him, wasn't there? He decided to try this out. Nush could feel power building up within him. It was something strong. Grand. He could release it at any moment.

But it was also now that he heard something else. It was soft, barely audible. Tilting his head, he tried to hear what the whispers said. Was it the inner voice that had saved him earlier? No. This was something else. It was a different voice. This one offered him... what was it offering? Ah. The power to keep his loved ones safe. The power to strike down his enemies. It was incredibly alluring.

And all he needed was that weapon.

Nush grabbed a hold of the shining weapon, which enraged its wielder. The two began to have a tug of war over it. And so he tried to rip it away from its owner forcefully. It was surprisingly easy to do just that. And so now, this weapon was his, and it felt good. He stared down at his foe as they tried to fight to get it back. It was no use. He had the power now. And so now he loomed over his opponent, who was stunned from that last blow.

He rose the weapon up high, staring down coldly before slicing the man in two. Blood sprayed in all directions. The whispers spoke to him. There was still more he needed to sacrifice in order to attain this power. If it meant keeping those who mattered most safe.. he would do it. Anything for them. He would give his life if it came to it, but that was not the price today. And so he paid it

His eye snapped open as he jerked awake. Nush scrambled up, crouching down while in a defensive stance. What the ******** just happened? It seemed that he may have been dreaming. In which... that was one incredibly messed up dream. There was nothing here. The crimson light that had filled the cavern had now dulled.

Shaking his head, he just slowly left. His mind felt numb.

Lliote found the cavern quite by accident. He followed his GOddess and found the path. It was marked by three bright red slashes. Eventually he reached the cave. Lliote entered and examined the altar. He traced the cracks on it. Once it was rock, but clearly someone had carved it into that shape.

Suddenly, something stirs. Lliote heard the muffled thud of each step of a large beast. It stared back at him with dull glowing eyes. His hands hovered above the hilt of his weapon but he could not move. He was paralyzed with fear. The best he could do was hold still. But the beast does not move. It looked at him. And then it looked at the bowl. Lliote followed the beast's gaze and saw something next to the bowl. It was thin, covered with vibrant red cracks. It looked like it was part of the table, but when Lliote reached out to touch it, he realized it was a knife. He picked it up. Still, the beast did not move.

Now. he thought, it's now or never.

With a yell, Lliote used the knife to attack.

Igny had somehow managed to mull past the plaza park and had ended up in front of a spiral shaped cave. It was still a little ways off, and she didn't think much of it. After all, there were many rocks in this land. Igny decided it wasn't worth the time to explore, and moved onwards.

Or ... she would have, if she hadn't caught the red goddesses' wings disappearing into the rock formation. Now that was worth exploring. She had a few questions to ask of the goddess, especially after the last task.

Red slashes littered the ground as she walked the tresses up to the path. It was unsettling for Igny, as she was reminded of the glowing dagger given to her by the goddess. What horrors might lie in this cave then?

She pulled herself together enough to make it to the opening. Delving in further, she realized the room was actually somewhat furnished. It was hard to make out with so little light, but she could at least see an altar with some dishes on it. It was relatively sparse- almost a disappointment compared to meeting the goddess.

The shapes went relatively ignored by Igny- she assumed they were decorative additions to the room, nothing more than a fanciful delight for someone as impressive as the goddess.

Walking down to the alter, she ran her hand over the rough stone, careful to avoid the cracks along the edges. Where had the goddess gone? Why had she left this place unattended? She tried standing on the tip of her toes to peer in the basin, but poor Igny was too short. Still, it was a heavy shape. She ran her fingers over the shapes for a moment before growing bored with the delusions.

There was movement in the back of the cavern. Igny froze. Panic struck her body. Was it the goddess- was she angry that Igny had trespassed? Was it a monster? Was it the shadow from the goddesses' task come back to get her-

Monster.

Dull eyes stared at her, watching her closely. Igny was too frozen in place to do anything but stare, frightened of what was to come. She was, and always would be, prey.

The creature responded in the same way, staying still. There was an awkward stare off going on. Igny had no choice but to look around for an escape route. She couldn't go out the cracks- too small. The door behind her was too far to run- besides, she have to turn her back to the beast. Her eyes fell on the bowl, and she noticed something she hadn't before. A knife.

Very quietly, she picked it up. The beast stared quiet- maybe it couldn't see from so far away? "I do not want to hurt you ... please let me leave ..." she said quietly. She'd made a promise- no killing unless necessary.

In her clumsiness, Igny took a step backward, but the action caused her to fumble and accidentally cut herself. The knife and the blood were placed just so precariously over the bowl that it dripped into the bottom of the basin.

The creature backed down, and Igny sighed with relief. She didn't know why blood in a bowl was so special, but if it appeased the big scary monster, she was okay with it. She leaned over, just to see what was so special, and ended up falling in!

Move.

Igny jerked to the left- just in time to avoid the oncoming enemy. Her cloak floated in the wind; Igny knew this feeling well. She was a bystander, yet it was also her. She was watching, yet participating. A roar split the air and Igny held up her hands in defense. She had no choice- she had to fight with what she had- her hands.

Though it upset her, Igny took comfort in the fact that it wasn't ... quite her. Claws laced up her arms, fur growing rapidly. Now it was confirmed- this couldn't be her. She used them rapidly, and Igny surprised herself with how lively she felt. Moving, jumping, dodging- she was performing every action with great skill. Once again she had to remind herself that it wasn't ... actually her doing the skills. She liked to pretend it was though.

A soft voice bit at the back of her mind. Igny listened to the whisper, leaning inwards to hear what it had to say. It promised something she yeard for- she just had to-

Igny shook her head from where she was standing. No. She would not kill. She promised herself, even back in the cavern. If given the choice she wouldn't kill. Instead, she tried to end the conflict peacefully by taking the opponent's weapon away.

"What the ******** are you doing?" The words were strange to Igny, foreign, yet familiar. "Don't you ******** dare-"

The weapon was her goal. She pulled lightly on the weapon, trying to force it from his hands. If he had no weapon, surely he would surrender and they could talk things over? That was fair.

Igny collapsed in pain as a dull pain replaced the triumphant feeling in her stomach. A well placed shoe had her double over in pain, followed by a swift jolt to the back of her neck. It was over too soon, far too soon. She could have solved it. They could have been allies.

Everything was darker. Igny stood, head throbbing and mind aching. "I do not understand," she murmured. There was no response, but a light feeling fell on her. A blessing.

In her wandering, Ralifa had somehow managed to stumble upon a cave. It was set off a little ways away from everything else she had explored before. Which got her wondering if it had been there all along or if it were a recent addition.

She poked around at the entrance to the cave. Toeing a few small pebbles cautiously with the tip of her foot. Nothing bad so far. Not that she was scared. Nope! She totally wasn't scared.

Although she could just ignore it.

The Goddess of Ruin had seemed particularly interested in it, having seen her come and go while traipsing up here. Curiosity rang true and she took a step into the dark cave. Feeling along the rocky wall until red lights lit up the darkness. That was a bit comforting. At least she could see.

Further into the cave she went.until she happened upon a raised slab of stone. A bowl sitting upon in. Strange markings. Ralifa crouched low to examine the shapes momentarily. Where had she seen that one?

Then the ground began to shake.

Standing up right, she turned in the direction. A large creature shambles out of the darkness, looking about ready to leap at Ralifa at any moment. Well she wasn't going to let it get the upper hand. She jumped up and over the table herself, launching herself at the beast to attack!

Mnezara supposed that she could call The Spire her home, of sorts.

After all, her core had initially shone a bright red, just like the color that tinged the area here. And it was the place she returned to after she was done with exploring the other areas each day. And so, it wasn't terribly hard for her to notice the Goddess disappearing into the Spires, and her curiosity immediately peaked. Where did the Goddess go?

It didn't take long for her to find the path where she had seen the Goddess enter. She followed, without any hesitation, and finally made it to a cave.

So this was what the Goddess had been visiting?

Red slashes on the wall lit the room, glowing eerily. Mnezara's attention were soon drawn away from them, examining the altar and the bowl that lay atop it. Attempts to lift the bowl to further study it were to no avail; it was too heavy for her.

She stiffened. She was not alone.

A monster drew out from the darkness and she froze entirely, watching the large beast. She had never seen anything like it before, and she held still, waiting. Perhaps it was one of the Goddess' minions?

It was looking at something else. She realized. Not only her.

She turned her head slightly and realized it was staring at the bowl, and then back at her and wait-- the bowl was not the only thing there...

That hadn't been there moments before, she was sure, as she inched towards it and picked the knife up. There was only one way forward, as many battles she had experienced taught her.

Knife in hand, she leaped forward to attack.

And with that, she found herself blessed once more.

It was time for a rest. Up until now, Marati had done a lot of walking and even more battling, and her feet were only beginning to complain. Despite being at the Spiral instead of her home in Ruin, she thought this was a good a place as any to rest for a moment. Despair's Razor remained at her side as she did, sitting and watching the other Greylings go about their business, searching for answers that were always just out of reach. Her 'moment' of rest turned to minutes, and then hours, and finally she started to realize something; The Red Goddess, moving along a path to the same place every couple of hours, as if clockwork. Curiousity drove in quickly, the need for answers to her questions making her get to her feet and follow after the Goddess, taking the too-easy path she seemed to take.

It lead her to a cave, and she looked around to see...well, very little. It was dark despite the slim light through the cracks, but it was at least enough to see the rock slab and a few items on top. The Altar seemed to be hand-made despite being rock, and it had shapes she didn't quite recognize just yet. Next came the bowl, which was way too big for her to pick up but big enough for her to recognize that it had some importance. The symbols came next, the feeling of having the answers on the tip of her tongue returning with a painful vengeance. One she could understand; it was the same one the goddess held, but the others...augh, the answer was right there, she could feel it.

Something stirred, and Marati yelped out of surprise, instantly reaching for her weapon, which she had found a way to strap to her back. She froze on place, crouched as if ready to attack, as she watched the way it curled and stood, unfurling itself to stare at her. It was too large for her to take on her own, and a quick glance around the cavern told her that she was alone. Maybe, if she proved to not be a threat, it would pass her by. She simply Held Still.

And then she would return with comrades, or at least people she vaguely recognized, to take it down.

So she waited, tense and still, until she realized something; the creature was playing eye tennis, looking between her and the bowl. Wait...not just the bowl. The knife there, too. It wanted her to do something, but what? It looked too weak to do any damage, and if she wanted to do damage all she had to use was the Large sword strapped to her back. Perhaps...Hm.

Marati took up the knife, staring at the creature and then down at her own arm, lifting it and simply cut herself with the knife, across her palm. She couldn't see what it was that came out, but she heard it fall into the bowl with a wet slick. Before long the creature lunged, knocking her away to drink whatever it was that fell into the bowl; she couldn't help but feel that it was grateful for her efforts, as odd as it was. What happened next didn't make sense to her, but suddenly she was pulled and twisted, falling onto hard ground with a wince. The cave was gone, and only fog remained.

MOVE!

With a start Marati complied, diving to move left just as something crashed where she had been standing. She rolled to her feet with a grace she didn't know she possessed, surprised for a moment to find a cloak around her shoulders. No - not surprised any more, this was right. This was natural. A roar pulled her from her reverie and she looked, acting on instinct to attack with her hands.

She grinned as her hands morphed, turning and twisting into claws. She lashed out, blocking, attacking, parrying, matching her opponent blow for blow. It seemed like this was all she would do - all she wanted to do, and yet she felt something in her change. There was something else she could do, and she could feel it. It was time to change tactics and use another skill. She felt the power surge through her, and she hit her opponent one more time to force them back. There was a grand finale in her, she could feel it. It was amazing, to feel this great of a power - she threw her head back and laughed, ignoring the whispering in the back of her mind.

Her form twisted and grew as she ignored the voices. Her wings unfurled, and she took to the air. She was a Goddess now, her power endless and cruel, taking lives as easily as breathing. A massive claw reached down, grabbing her opponent with a crushing grip until they were lifeless in her grasp. They expired and she threw them aside, throwing her head back for one more loud, echoing roar of triumph---

Marati woke up with a cry, her limbs flailing as she sat up as if shocked. She was covered in sweat and panting. It was an eerie feeling, and suddenly she didn't want to be here any more. She scrambled away, for now unaware of the blessing she had just obtained.

Anni Rohn explored her home, taking careful strides to make sure she wouldn't fall from one of its many cliffs or small bridges. There were monsters lurking in the caverns, you know. She examined a particularly large stalactite, intrigued by its size and form, when something caught her attention and stopped her cold: the Goddess of Ruin was entering a cave right before her eyes! Her heart leapt with joy at the memory of when she first encountered her Goddess, those outstretched wings and lonely plaque calling to her very core, promising protection and guidance. Her fear of the Goddess' immense power terrified her, but her blind faith in her Goddess urged her to follow the deity, in order to thank her properly. She went inside, gasping in awe at this ancient altar, the bright glow of the moon bathing the area in a glittering, crimson light. She examined the markings etched in every object, the exact same shapes represented on each artifact, reflecting the simple shapes indented deeply into the hard stone walls. She examined the shapes closely, of course she remembered her Goddess' crescent moon, it was the first thing she saw when she was given sight, but with the others, only one seemed familiar...

Something rustled from the back of the cave, something large...
Its footsteps rang out in the silent cavern like a gunshot: 'thud...thud... Thud.' The creature stopped behind the Altar, its head lowered, its eyes alighting with an ancient glow. It made a sound like a growl, its posture defensive, ready to attack her with a single bound. Anni held still.

'What if this creature was sent by Ruin?' She thought. She didn't want to hurt her Goddess by attacking her familiar, and even if she tried, the creature would only tear her apart.

"I won't fight you..." Anni's voice was small, but she hoped the creature understood her. It lowered its defense, looking at her with all-knowing eyes. Its focus shifted to the bowl, its contents empty. She looked at the bowl as well, and realized the creature was staring back at her.

'I'm supposed to do something with the bowl?' She asked it in her mind. It looked toward the Altar, its eyes focusing on something on top of it. She looked around and noticed something embedded into the stone surface: a knife. It glinted with the light of the moon, the red veins within the metal lit like blood. She lifted it into her palm, its weight as light as air. Anni could feel the creature's gaze upon her, and she looked up. They stared into each other's eyes, the creature's stare questioned her motives.

'What will you do?' It seemed to ask in a rumbling voice that was as old as time itself. She looked toward the bowl and its runes, thinking of her Goddess, the only one who inspired her to keep going. There was no hesitation, she placed the blade in her opposite hand and drew it across the soft flesh, cutting her hand. She held out her palm over the bowl, her blood falling against the bottom with a steady dripping sound, each drop glittering like a ruby with the aid of the moonlight. Strangely, she felt as if she were sacrificing not just her blood, but something else... A part of her... The creature seemed satisfied with her work, it pushed her back gently, away from the altar, before it turned its back on her. She could hear it quench its thirst with the contents of the bowl as she waited for something to happen. Should she leave? Should she stay? Anni watched as the creature finished, turning towards her and staring with those eyes full of ancient wisdom. It lowered its massive head, as if bowing... Thanking her? It looked into her eyes, not with ethereal grey light, but with power. The air shook with its very presence, making Anni's heart warm with the feeling of its gratitude. The creature looked towards the altar once more, and she walked to it with understanding. She looked into the bowl, entranced by it... when she was sucked down into its shadowed depths.

Anni crashed to the hard ground with a thud. When she awoke, the sky was grey with fog and smoke, instead of the red moon she was accustomed to seeing. She didn't have to see where she was, she felt it. This was not the altar she had met the creature in, but someplace else entirely.

'MOVE!' Screamed something within her. She obeyed the instinct, rolling to the left, just as something crashed down where she was just seconds ago. It blinded her with the brilliance of a fallen star, but something told her it was not friendly. She leapt back quickly, her-- cloak?-- flowing gracefully behind her movement. The garment fluttered and pooled around her as she crouched, awaiting the moment when the something would try to attack her. She didn't feel like herself at all, but felt as if she were looking through someone else's eyes.

'Focus!' Her inner voice berated her. Anni felt her new body hummed with energy, she needn't be afraid of the something any longer. She had all the power in the world... But she didn't need it, she never needed it. This was her fight, and she was going to win it herself, by her own two hands... Or rather, what were once her hands. They surged with energy, transforming, becoming powerful muscle and vicious claws. She used them to block the someone's weapon, using this opportunity to distract them, by landing a slash across their side. They fell back, wincing, even though Anni knew she hadn't hurt them too badly. She just needed time. The power sang within her, but she refused to be corrupted by it, continuing to use her han--- claws, instead. Her heart leapt with happiness, she actually enjoyed fighting. The strength traveled to the rest of her body, covering it with fur as thick as armor, her claws sending a shower of sparks as she blocked and retaliated in an endless dance. Nothing she tried gave her an advantage, she had to use another tactic. Anni tried another skill.
She slashed at her opponent one last time to give her the space she needed to try her next move. The power pulsed through her veins, causing her opponent's eyes to widen with fear as she grew to an immense size. The power made her feel confident, vain... But this was not a fair battle. Her mind burned with the look of absolute terror on her opponent's face. This wasn't her. Something called to her, something she felt was important. She listened to the whisper.
"You desire to protect others..." its voice was surprisingly soft within the sound of her power, "... to never be lonely again. I can grant it to you, but first, you must---" Anni obeyed, trying to take her opponent's weapon away.

"What the ******** are you doing?!" Her opponent snarled, as she grabbed a hold of the shining weapon in his grasp. Anni Rohn tried to take it from him without drawing upon the power, trying to wrench it free of his hands, but he was strong...

"Don't you ******** dare --" ...too strong. She used all her might to rip the weapon out of his hands.

She was better than him, stronger, powerful than ever before. At the cost of ---, she knew she had made the right choice. The weapon felt flimsy in her hands, almost made of glass. She felt a joy so strong, it made her heart rise, even as he yelled at her. He attacked, but she was faster, Anni blocked him with his-- no, her-- weapon, something making a sickening crunch as they collided. He fell at her feet, stunned. He was powerless, no longer a threat to her or anyone else again. All the power in the world... and she showed him Mercy. She felt her lips rise into a smile, her outstretched palm aimed at his head, her power rising to crush him beneath her hand... But she didn't need to do it now. She had defeated the threat, and there would be peace in her kingdom. She placed his weapon on her shoulder, intending to lock it away. She gazed triumphantly at her domain.

He was nothing but a puppet to her, a plaything, really. She made him dance and fight, testing her power, but it didn't feel at all familiar to her. She had used him... But only to help her become stronger. Anni felt something in the back of her mind play like an echo... She was supposed to be watching him, helping him, and she failed him. Her heart darkened with the memory of despair...

And woke with a start on the floor of the cave. She got up, confused, the once bright red light faded to a dark crimson. She was alone, the Altar's guardian gone, her opponent nowhere in sight... not even the Goddess she had followed in. Sadly, she picked up the Black Claws and Red Vial, and left the cave, completely powerless, but not truly alone.

One last place to go before he left for World's Edge. One more thing to explore.

He moved slowly, deliberately, and spent a long time poring over the symbols. Not in an effort to understand them, just in an effort to remember them. He ran his hands over the lip of the bowl and then, as he was turning in bewilderment to leave with more questions than answers, he became aware of the sense of other.

He hesitated, his hands hovering over the pistols, but he'd been in here this entire time and nothing had lunged out of the dark for him. Nothing had grabbed his ankles or swung a sword at him. So he swallowed but he did nothing when the eyes opened and the enormous creature approached. Something about the shape of it and the way it moved spoke to him more of solidarity than of antagonism.

He stood very still. Some instinct told him that this was what you did, confronted by a large animal that may or may not be friendly.

When it became obvious that the thing wanted him to approach, again, the table, Amity gently navigated around the altar instead of turning his back to the thing. So he didn't distrust it, but he didn't trust it, either. His ran his hands along the table without letting his eyes stray from the beast, until his fingers brushed something he would have sworn was not there before and he looked at it.

When he looked back up the monster was waiting expectantly. Without knowing why, without wanting to, Amity felt something like pity.

He put his hand over the bowl and drew the blade across his palm, and thought of scissors in a white hallway. And the beast moved, and shoved him out of the way with a powerful and irresistible movement, and as Amity stumbled backwards it drank up whatever it was that Amity had left there.

It seemed more vital, when it looked up. Relief that made no sense flooded into him, and then a sensation of gratitude, and when the beast indicated the bowl he tentatively stepped up to peer inside.

Everything happened very fast, and then the beast was gone, and the cavern, and there was a boundless foggy sky and an animal instinct to roll. So he did, uncontrollably, dodging without knowing what he was dodging and nearly tangling himself in his cloak (cloak?) and then darting up to his feet. He lifted his hands. He was better than this. He was powerful, he was important.

He was defeated. The pain seemed distant when he looked down at the weapon jutting from his stomach, but it drew nearer when his opponent twisted it. I am sorry for bleeding on your sleeves, he thought stupidly.

He was lying on the cavern floor. He was whole. Instinctively, with fear, his hands stole up to his core. It was still there.

More things taken.

When a large, winged figure soared above, Acerola was surprised to see the Goddess of Ruin, flying by. "What could they be doing?" She hid behind a large rock, watching them enter the cave, and reappear soon after. While it wasn't any of her business, Acerola wanted to know if it was important, especially since it was a Goddess who had gone in and not anyone else. When she was sure the Goddess had left, Acerola quickly made it up the path and entered the cave.

The room seemed to glow from the strange cracks on the wall. Acerola walked up to the Altar, touching it. It had the cold, soothing touch of rock, but it was covered in red, glowing scratches. There were scratches all over the sides of it as well. Because of the glowing color, Acerola wondered if it had been the Goddess who had made those marks. She took a glance at the bowl. It was large, and Acerola knew at a glance that it would be too heavy for her to lift., and so she didn't try. She lightly touched the edge of the bowl, and felt the marks, similar to those on the altar. One shared the same symbol as the Goddess.....another felt like it was on the edge of her memory, but not quite within reach. "Where had she seen these symbols before? she thought.

Something seemed to be coming from the back of the cave. First, a shadow appeared, and it moved closer and closer. Acerola felt the room dim as a large beast appeared, blocking some of the glowing cracks with its large body. Acerola stood still, hoping the creature wouldn't notice her standing there.

The beast stared straight at Acerola. Or maybe not. Its large eye seemed to be moving ever so slightly between her, and the bowl she was standing next to. Was it waiting for something to happen? She glanced over at the bowl. There was something she hadn't noticed before. A knife. What was it doing there? Surely, it wasn't for attacking the enormous creature. That would be brash and stupid. It would mean death.

Acerola held the dagger in one hand, unsure of what to do with it. Meanwhile the beast continued to stare at her and the bowl. Maybe she had to put something in the bowl? At first, she tried putting the knife in the bowl, watching the beast's reaction as she did so. The beast didn't do anything, so she picked it back up. So that wasn't what she was supposed to do. Then, a thought struck her. Maybe... she took the knife and cut her palm with it, letting the contents from the cut fall into the bowl.

The beast's large head appeared in front of her, nudging her out of the way, as it made its way to the bowl and lapped up the contents.

Suddenly, something about it seemed to change. Acerola felt gratitude surging from her. Was it from the beast? The beast looked at Acerola with its now bright eyes and nodded at the bowl. Acerola, cautiously, walked up to the bowl and looked in. Her face had gotten too close, and she was sucked in.

Landing painfully, Acerola sat there for a moment before something in her head screamed at her for move. Almost instinctively, she moved to the left, just as something seemed to strike where she was before. She let out a breath and got up. A cloak? Surely, she didn't have a cloak....

A roar. Acerola....or whoever she was, was brought out of her thoughts. There was something else here. She had to fight it. But how? Then, she seemed to feel like...she could do anything. She shaped her hands into claws, blocking the opponent's attack with them, before striking at them. She attacked once again with the claws, feeling more alive than ever.

It was then that Acerola remembered she could do other things too. Power surged through her, as she prepared to strike the enemy once again. But a voice seemed to stop her. It was dangerous, it seemed to say. Acerola realized that as the voice said it. If she let power consume her, then she would succumb to it. She opened her jaws and flames erupted from her jaws. As the opponent was caught off guard, she resorted back to using her claws and soon, the enemy was hardly an enemy anymore.

She laughed wildly.

Her vision began to fade, as well as what she remembered from what just happened. She sees something and picks it up before leaving.

He found himself in a cavern and wasn't sure what to make of it. He'd followed the path up and now curiously investigated the room he found himself in.

Spotting the creature at the back of the cave he stopped dead in his tracks. It was too large to engage and was not overtly hostile. Maybe it would leave. When it did not he followed its gaze with curiosity. He picked up the knife, but still it did not cease its implication.

He wasn't sure why he cut himself with the knife, but the pain was sharp and reminiscent, a twinge on his palm that threatened to draw to the surface old memories. The bowl drew him in and he found himself relying purely on instincts.

Yelled at to move, he did so, finding himself in a battle he hadn't expected. But he wouldn't use his hands, he had more than that, there was more than that.

He didn't expect the weapon in his gut, didn't expect the twist, the pain the blood the mess.

He woke up panting and breathless on the floor.
