Pasha is a grade-A couch potato. She likes to stuff herself into warm places with books and never appear again, and would do so if people weren't around to drag her out. Easily flustered, Pasha sometimes blurts embarrassing things out before she realizes what she's saying, whether they be statements, someones embarrassing secrets, stupid questions, or blubbering compliments. Pasha has zero physical ability, and would make up with it with her extreme intelligence if it wasn't for her cripplingly mousy personality. She clutches to people that show a remote tolerance for her like a stubborn little manacle, even though she cant properly assert herself to anyone, no matter how close.
Pasha's preferred method of conversation is through texts and scribbled notes - the only place where she isn't stuttering or getting flustered or too shy to say anything out loud. Even though people can't cure Pasha's fluster-bug attitude no matter how close they are to her, they can tame it somewhat. Once Pasha is familiar with a person, she becomes puppy-dog loyal, and tries her hardest to keep up with them despite her naturally useless nature. Pasha's knowledge is all theoretical. In hands-on things she is a mess. She could recite to you the proper way to put together a full working airplane, but give her a microwavable dinner and she'll set the house on fire as soon as she tries to do something instead of set out the instructions for it.
Despite her gentle, stutter-bug nature, Pasha is also fastidious and determined. Her shortcomings are in her inability to socialize properly and constant physical failure, but what she lacks there she makes up for with her adventurous side. Pasha is very determined. If something fails once, it just means she hasn't tried hard enough, and she needs to do it again. She will also stop at nothing to help people close to her, even though half of the time her supposed help turns into a terrible disaster for everyone within a ten mile radius of her.
Pasha is extremely intelligent in math and science, but put her in a psychology class and she'll blow a fuse trying to understand. Innuendos and sexual jokes fly right over her head, and she will usually hide in the face of any sort of human interest in her. Pasha, while more intelligent academically than most her age, doesn't necessarily... act her age. Because Pasha grew up constantly afraid of the shadows beneath her bed, she never necessarily matured out of the state of mind that there were monsters around corners and in decrepit houses just waiting for her to fall into their traps. Only when she was recruited to Deus did she understand the depth of her situation and begin to move past the stage of bedtime monsters and the like.

Pasha grew up in a relatively normal environment; her parents owned a farmhouse on the cusp of town, and she grew up tending to barn animals and traveling into town in the back of her fathers pick-up truck. The third oldest of five children, Pasha quickly exhibited extreme academic intelligence, prompting her parents to push her to excel in school. However, her cripplingly shy personality at the time prevented her from conversing with others, and she was often teased when she blurted out that there were shadows following her, or dark spots in the corner of her eyes. Her parents simply believed it to be a phase and never sent her to therapy. Unlike others, Pasha didn't grow up to believe she was hallucinating or simply imagining things. Instead she never matured out of the belief that monsters existed in the corners of everyones eyes, but she became smart enough to at least keep it to herself.
Pasha was ostracized from people her age even more when she was allowed to skip a grade, making her the youngest in her class. However, for a few years she was able to focus on her academic studies, vying to go from a small town to a big city and hopefully into a good college, leaving behind her worries of shadows for a few blissful, but ultimately, lonely months. This ended when her mother died of stroke, leaving behind Pasha and her siblings with their father on a farmhouse that seemed suddenly very empty to them and very full of shadows to her. Even though she graduated young, Pasha decided to take a few years off to help her father out of his depression, working at a tack and feed shop in the meantime. The shadows, however, got worse and worse, working up Pasha to insomniac tendencies and extreme paranoia.
When she was approached by one of Deus's recruiters, the knowledge of knowing that the monsters were tangible and that she could do something to eradicate them coupled with the prospect of meeting others that might understand her a little better cemented her acceptance. Pasha had never been able to fit into society like a normal girl, and what little friends she had were limited to books and television series. Because of this, she also selfishly accepted the offer to come to Deus, looking for a new society where she might be able to both do something useful with her life and find others that might not make her feel so alienated from society as she had been all these years.

Táo is a sharp-tongued, old soul trapped inside of a stutter-bugs head. He is very gentle despite his quicksilver words, often trying to secure confidence in Pasha instead of goading her for her clumsy methods. Táo is very calm, his nature supportive but disconnected. Time has made him unimpressed by many things around him, and he can often become cynical when left to his own thoughts. Táo is impassive and somewhat contumelious of other weapons. He is not necessarily overconfident, he simply thinks that the more crude weapons are of little use beyond being waved savagely around in the air.
Táo is indulgent and, while not quite sociable, he is willing to put up with Pasha's run-on thoughts. He is very rational, and often the rock to Pasha's stutter-bug tendencies. He is very well-versed in taming other people and waiting out the emotional storms that others throw in his face. Táo, however, is what one might consider a two-faced creature. While he exudes the air of a calm, serene old soul with a bit of wit, he is also an extremely guileful creature. Years of existence have molded him into an extremely cunning soul, capable of smooth lies and manipulation of the most dangerous kind. However, while capable, Táo is not malevolent in nature at all. When he plays tricks and games with others, he does it simply out of amusement.
The fenghuang is a creature that habitually internalizes his emotions. His calm facade is often a mask to other thoughts and feelings swelling and twisting deep within his essence, making him a ticking time bomb counting down to zero. When Táo reaches his limit and snaps, his anger is harsh and cold and brittle. He is not fiery or explosive, he is cold and snappish and all manner of cruel. However, time has made Táo extremely tired and jaded towards many things, creating a layer of apathy between most emotional responses that one would find normal to certain situations and him. His disinterest in the world has simmered in him and created a stony response to nearly everything around, making him come off as an apathetic creature. While this not entirely untrue, Pasha is slowly working on chipping away at his jaded shell.

Mist Hunters are the toughest division by far to be in. They are expected to continuously update themselves with all the other division duties, though to a lesser extent, for example, if working with the Death Division, they would also be expected to gather intel, but perhaps not know as well the extent of why they are doing it. Because of their jack-of-all-trades role, Mist Hunters are required to be extremely flexible in their schedules. They are the division that the other divisions call in when one member in their dispatch team is missing. They are the division that have the ability to "fill in" for other divisions.
Mist Hunters, due to their experience in all the other divisions, are excellent solo operators. If there are solo missions, usually a Mist Hunter is the first person to be dispatched, as they have the ability to understand all aspects of the division, not just heavily focus on one, and execute a small mission from beginning to completion with the most success. Because of their resourcefulness, Mist Hunters also are extremely valued in Deus Ex Machina, but few trainees graduate to being a Mist Hunter. It is by far, required of Mist Hunters to learn all the activities of the other divisions. Instead, they simply must be prepared for the fact that they may need to learn extra roles and duties, or assume a filler-in role when the time is needed. While fast learning and adaptability is often an asset for their division, several Mist Hunters often begin to focus a little more on a couple of divisions.
Lastly, Mist Hunters are often proud of their adaptability and resilience: because of this, they are also known as the special-ops division.

Pasha's room is, just like every other hunter trainees, small and stark white. However, that has not stopped her tiny influences from spreading through the tiny space that has become her new home. For one, she has a steady growing collection of pillows. And not just on her bed. Pillows are everywhere. She has throw pillows, body pillows, big pillows, small pillows, round pillows, square pillows and so on and so forth. An igloo of pillows could be built out of her collection. Pasha has done her best to make her room look comfortable and cozy. She hasn't been able to find or smuggle a bookshelf in yet, so a lot of her walls are covered in neatly stacked piles of books. They seem to be categorized into towers by genre, from plump fairytale books to large textbooks on the types of poisonous plants found all around the world.
Pasha's room is mainly white and empty apart from books and pillows, though sprinkles of colors are found here in there in greens, pinks, and blues. Strangely enough, of all the odd little things she's smuggled into her room, two of them are plants. Marco Polo is a golden dragon tree that sits next to her desk, and on her desk is Kublai Khan, a small lucky bamboo plant. Her desk is piled high with notebooks, half of which are filled and half of which are not. Everywhere, you'll find them, just like you'll find pillows.
