You know, when one thinks of a state where pot's more or less accepted, where you figure if anyone's going to try to outright legalize it... I mean, hell. California, right? I can't believe we didn't even try again this year... well, we were beat to the punch twice over -- so WTG, Colorado and Washington (link)!
You may commence the "Seattle and coffee shops/Amsterdam and coffee shops" and "Rocky Mountain High" discussions... whee

"...Out of the crooked timber of humanity...
I'm insanely dismayed that the US is becoming more progressive than Canada. Damn our Conservative Harper government.
...no straight thing was ever made..."

-x-Noxious-x-Nyx-x- I am fairly surprised about California. wink What's going on in the world? California and Canada should have the lax pot laws! gonk We tried! We did, last time 'round -- prop 19 lost, 48-52. crying I'm surprised we didn't put it on the ballot again, actually.
Wouldn't it be funny if all fifty states ok'd pot -- and the feds still insisted on keeping it illegal? What a mess that would be... xd

You may commence the "Seattle and coffee shops/Amsterdam and coffee shops" and "Rocky Mountain High" discussions... whee This is amazing and wonderful news. There are 19 states that legalized medical marijuana. Now CO and WA legalized it for whatever. Hallelujah!!!! Now I hope Atty Gen Holder refuses to prosecute federal pot laws. Dare I hope that Pres Obama grants a pardon and commutes the sentences to all those incarcerated for possession of small amounts. I guess it could happen. In my wildest imaginings I never thought I'd see as much progress as we already have. Makes me dare to hope for more.

If we were really serious about reining in government spending and getting the economy onto something vaguely resembling stable ground, we'd stop wasting resources hunting down, prosecuting, and incarcerating for at least marijuana possession. There's a quote I've seen, supposedly from Einstein (though really, who knows?), insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Talk about your in-a-nutshell version of the history of the Controlled Substances Act.
Let's see, that reminds me... where is... where... aha.
Tell VP Biden to end his war on marijuana users and to respect the people of Colorado and Washington
Email action alerts from NORML = very handy. Come to think of it, this probably deserves its own thread... ninja Got a couple other things to post, too, though, so I'll come back to that in a couple hours. *nods firmly*

Harvey_Kinkle Hopefully Biden will be too busy with gun control issues in the immediate future to bother making war on peace loving pot smokers. *shrug* If it's his pet project -- and, by all accounts, that seems to be the case -- then he'll make time. The real danger's if he has Obama's public support, in that case. But I can't imagine him initiating anything without it, he'd be undermining his own credibility (however much of that he actually has, as a politician).
