Since the demolition of the old apartment building a new larger one has replaced it. Although the apartments themselves were built slightly smaller, the building as a whole is kept very clean, and in good condition in contrast to the old building. This is where all Kumo shinobi start their careers. Due to the cluttered population, those who live long enough to purchase a home of their own rarely hesitate to do so.

Sora skipped through the apartment building up to her room. The rooms had become smaller, but she didn't mind. Since the reconstruction had finished, Sora had actually begun living alone. Of course, her parents were still close at hand, so she wasn't too scared or anything.

The girl entered the room and took up the bag she usually brought with her one missions. Quickly so as to not make the others wait, Sora packed the necessities: an extra set of clothes, food for a few days, first-aid, miscellaneous items that might come in handy, and the all-important sweets.User Image

After having packed the necessities, Sora did a thorough check of her room. First, she cleaned up any messes just as her parents always reminded her to do. Then, she went about making sure all windows and such were locked (another thing her parents always reminded her about). After all that was done, Sora headed out.

Then she returned. She'd forgotten to pack a blanket for the nights. Sleeping bags were obviously too heavy to be used by a ninja, but her mother and father had insisted that she always bring a blanket at least. The girl retrieved the blanket, packed it away nicely. Rechecked all the locks and then exited her room. She locked the door to the room and then headed down to meet up with Kensei and Laxus.

Some artists paint or sing of peace...I?

((Enter from Kumogakure Library))

The trip from the Kumogakure Library to the residential apartments offered to all shinobi starting out was a short one as the two buildings were only a few blocks away from each other. 'Hm...wonder if I should perhaps stop by my own apartment to pick up a few things...?' The thought was swiftly pushed aside as Shizuna saw more need in swiftly completing the several missions she had signed up for. That way she could get herself a good few more coins for art supplies. Entering through the front door, Shizuna stepped into the lobby/receptionist area and spotted several younger shinobi lounging around and couldn't help but smile. Though it's important for the younger generation to strive for success, its also important that they are able to hold on to their innocence for just a tad bit longer. To be able to enjoy themselves and not become too focused on success will be what helps them get thought the challenges they will surely and ultimately face in this career choice. 'And what a path it will be. Filled with hardship and loss but also enlightenment and personal growth...'

Snapping out of it when she heard the door open and close behind her, Shizuna hastily made her way over to the receptionist and flashed the man a small smile. The man returned it before kindly addressing Shizuna and inquiring about how he may assist her. Shizuna had been a long term stay resident here at the apartments and though it was a wonder why a jounin such as herself not find a residence for herself, it was not like they could ask her to leave. The apartments were a place for all shinobi and honestly the only problem with Shizuna is all the paint fumes that would seldom slip out through her apartment door and the fact she speaks to no one dispite having an able voice. Another thing that would be rude to ask of the young lady, besides, all the regular workers are already use to her behavior by now.

Reaching into her pouch, Shizuna would pull out the two scrolls that needed to be delivered here and sliding them gently across the counter to the receptionist, would then proceed to grab a pen and notepad left at the desk to write. "From the library, I believe they are for the one or two of the residents here. Twirling the notepad around 180degrees, Shizuna gave the man a moment to read before hearing his affirmation. Taking the scrolls, the man would take a moment to examine for a name and upon finding it on one did the same with the next. Waiting patiently, Shizuna watched as he easily spotted the names and then slipped them nonchalantly into the numbered mailbox associated with the name on the scroll. How he knew the name off all the resident and their apartment number was a wonder and Shizuna never seized to be amazed by his ability to do so. It was similar to her ability to remember every piece of art she laid her hands on. [Mail Delivery - 1/3]

"I thank you for taking the time to bring the scrolls to us Miyake-san. If its not to much trouble, may I trouble you to deliver these to the post office as well?" Spotting the two small boxes placed on the back counter, Shizuna merely smiled and nodded. Smiling back, the receptionist than brought the two boxes over and assisted Shizuna in putting them inside the mail bag. Certain that all items were secure with her, Shizuna would bid the receptionist goodbye with a small bow and wave before exiting the building and taking to the roofs once more. It was getting late and if she had any hope of evading the crowds, the roofs were her best choice. 'Perfect how everything ends up bringing me back to my final destination. Now if only my clone and Kaeru will successfully make it back as well.' [Mail Delivery - 2/3]

Enter from Raikage's Tower

With her mission now officially finished, Sora entered her room for the first time in days. "Shower. Shower. Show show shower," the blonde sang in a lilting voice as she prepared to do just that. She gathered clothes and then stepped into the tiled bathroom, stripped, and washed herself. Because she had also hadn't had a chance to shower for the last few days, the girl made sure to be extra-sure with her scrubbing and cleaning. Her hair proved to be especially guilty of being dirty, with the sand having accumulated in it. In fact, at the start of the shower, the water that ran down Sora's body took a slightly brown-ish tinge because of all the accumulated sand and dirt.

Once clean, Sora stepped out and dressed then proceeded to work on other tasks. Her stomach rumbled, but she restrained herself and, like a responsible person, started her laundry first. Only after she had collected her dirty clothes, sorted them, and then tossed them into the machine did she start cooking. Compared to what her mother could make, it wasn't much, but a bowl of fresh rice and some cold side dishes (prepared by her mother and sent to her) was enough to fill the belly. She finished the food eagerly, washed the dishes, and then moved on to her next task.

Again, Sora stripped. This time, though, in her bedroom. Of course, the curtains were drawn over the windows. She observed the seals she had placed over her body. All were faded to some extent, which brought a pout the girl's face, she couldn't find any, For a few minutes, Sora stared back and forth between her marker and her arm where the fading seals were placed. Thinking about money and supplies and such was new to her, her parents had always dealt with that stuff. In the end, she followed her instincts, and put her clothes back on without doing anything.

She actually didn't eat candy after re-dressing. Instead, she went to check on her laundry. It had finished washing, so she moved her clothes into the dryer. Then she returned to her room, pulled out a few books, and settled herself into her bed to review jutsus, seals, etc.. Besides her bed, of course, was a bowl of sweets that Sora reached into occasionally.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 13, 2013 10:16 pm

Sometime between getting into her bed to read and then getting out, Sora had fallen asleep. She had curled up into a tight ball, book pushed off the side of the bed and onto the ground. By the time she came to, it was dark...

Shocked, the girl jolted awake and looked quickly about the dark room, neck not resting until her eyes had managed to adjust enough to actually see something. Sora thought as she tripped over to the window and pulled the curtains outside, . More tripping, a few face-plants, and one flip after, Sora was in the laundry room. Then she was out of the laundry room, having forgotten the laundry hamper to put the clothes in. She brought it in and stuffed everything into the hamper, brought that back into her room, and then tried to fold the clothes in the dark. Only when that didn't start working out too well did Sora actually bother to turn on the lights in her room.

Quite rapidly but also neatly, Sora folded her clothes and put them away neatly. With her final chore finally done, Sora restocked her candy bag, prepared to go to sleep, and plopped into bed once again like a good girl. She didn't feel sleepy at all at first, but she remained in her bed. Eventually, she did begin feeling sleepy, like any good child would after being in bed long enough. She dozed off.

Once again, she came to, this time to the light shining in through the window she had left the curtains open on. Sora woke up with a yawn and went through the usual morning rituals. At this point, most shinobi would just leave their room as is to train and do other ninja stuff. Sora, however, didn't. She needed to clean and dust. Yes, dusting was important to this kunoichi--this civilian-born and raised kunoichi--as was picking up everything she had dropped in her clumsy walks through her living space. Without any fancy-schmancy stuff like jutsus to distract her home upbringing, Sora had learned how to properly live, this included keepeing her apartment clean.

And so began Sora's home cleaning.

Cleaning finished without incident. At least, not including the usual incidents that essentially doubled Sora's workload. She had tripped, fell, and accomplished every possible accident. In her credit, though, she didn't break a single thing.

A glance at the window, open both visually and physically to air out the rooms and let in some light, after cleaning up informed Sora that it was about late afternoon. She could either eat out or at home. Eating at home required cooking but she preferred making her own food to buying it at a restaurant. She debated with herself,

The rest of the day passed peacefully and as planned. Sora rested, then made a few Nin Shiki Kaado cards, updated a few others, and then rested some more.

The next morning, Sora awoke at the proper time. Once more, she went through the usual morning rituals. Then, she left, locking up behind her. With a smile, she looked forward to her new day at work.

Finally arriving at the shinobi apartment complex, after what had to be the craziest day of his life, Shikaku fished in his pocket, pulling out the key he'd been given on graduation and checking the number. His apartment was apparently on one of the higher floors, so he made his way up. Fifteen minutes later, he finally found the door marked with his number and unlocked it to go in.

The first thing that struck him as he entered was the smell of cleaners and disinfectants. He sincerely hoped that was because the landlord kept unoccupied apartments well cleaned between occupants and not... Something else he didn't want to try thinking of. The second, as he closed the door and dropped his backpack as he walked in, was the size. By most people's standards, it was very small. Three rooms, a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, each only big enough for one person and sparsely furnished. But to him? Coming from the orphanage where six boys slept in a room the size of his new bedroom? To think he had three whole rooms all to himself, each the size of his old dormitory, was amazing.

The bedroom was simple, a bed, desk and chair, and a dresser for his clothing. Immediate tests of the bed found it to be stiff, barely giving way to his weight. A definite upgrade from the cot he'd had, that sagged as much as a foot in the middle and stuck you with broken springs unless you slept in just the right position. The dresser was roomy, easily able to hold his current wardrobe fifty times over. Not a hard task when one had only one outfit. Before finishing his explorations, Shikaku retrieved his backpack and emptied his few belonging into the dresser, setting his equipment pouches atop it as well. The desk the room held was also simple. Just a slab of wood on four legs. No drawers cabinets or other special adornments. He didn't foresee himself using it much anyways though, so it wasn't a big deal. The bedroom also held what seemed to be the apartment's only window, a medium to small affair looking out on a rather unimpressive view of the nearby smog district. It'd make a good quick exit though if need be, and had a fire escape right outside, which he assumed led all the way to ground level. He'd find a way to trap that later in case of unwanted visitors.

Going back to the kitchen, which doubled as the apartment's entry way, the boy looked it over as well. A small square wooden table sat in the center of the room, along with two chairs. Room for him and one guest then. Two if he brought the chair from his room out. The kitchen held the usual appliances. A simple gas stove for cooking, small refrigerator, plenty large enough for one young boy though. A few cabinets on the walls to hold dry goods, and of course a small counter space for cooking. Perhaps oddly, the kitchen didn't include a sink. He assumed that the bathroom must then, and that putting two in such a small apartment was considered a waste of money by the landlords. He honestly didn't mind though. It wasn't like he needed the extra.

That seemed to be the extent of the kitchen, so he peeked into the bathroom next. A simple affair yet again, the bathroom held the expected sink, along with a toilet and small standing shower. No bathtub, though he didn't particularly expect one. Still, the small shower would definitely be more pleasant than community showers in the orphanage.

With his explorations complete, Shikaku found himself winding down from the excitement of the day, and yawning. Determining that he'd take care of anything forgotten, including finding food for his significantly empty refrigerator and cabinets, in the morning, the boy made his way back to the bedroom and laid down, fading into sleep in moments.

Shikaku awoke, as was his tradition, by rolling sideways off the bed and onto the floor. Why was that his tradition? Because he instinctively woke at the same time every morning, just in time to roll out of the way of the bucket of water that would otherwise leave him drenched, as the orphanage directors weren't at all tolerant of sleeping in. At the feeling of soft carpet rather than concrete intermixed with bare steel however, the boy snapped fully awake, jumping to his feet and looking around. It took a few moments for reality to settle in, reminding him that he was no longer a resident of the orphanage, that this was his new home. A hole in the wall to most civilized people, but a paradise on earth to him.

As his nerves settled, Shikaku fell backwards back onto his bed, and laughed. The day before had been a nightmare, the greatest day of his life so far, but a nightmare nonetheless. He'd been too tired by the time it all ended, too emotionally drained, to feel what he did now. Freedom. He would never have to go back to the orphanage, never again deal with older kids bullying him or overseer's harsh rules. He had a home of his own, a profitable, if dangerous job. He'd never even have to steal to get a fresh meal when his rations were stolen. A fair number of shops actually fed shinobi for free, and if they wouldn't, he could make enough money in a day's work to feed himself for a week. If he wanted to sleep in, he didn't have to worry about ice water and being cold the rest of the day because he only had the one change of clothes. Sure, he had a new regime to follow, more inherently dangerous even, but at least he'd have times like this moment, where he could just relax, and do nothing if he wanted.

But, those moments don't last forever. Soon enough he was roused from his reverie by the one rule over his life that hadn't changed since leaving the orphanage. A growling stomach, to remind him that he still didn't have a scrap of food in the house. Getting up again, the boy collected the rags he called clothes and slipped those that he had actually taken the time to remove the night before back on. Considering for a moment, he decided to leave his equipment here. He was going shopping, not on any missions, and the equipment was unneeded for a jaunt through town. He did however slip on his left hand glove, with it's Kumogakure marking. That, was not something he planned to go without any time soon.

Dressed, and with his once more filled wallet safely tucked into a pocket without holes, Shikaku left his apartment, making sure to lock it behind him, and headed outside. Old habits that he wasn't quite ready to surrender dictated that his first stop be, not the shopping district, or even a local restaurant, but the apartment's backyard dumpster. For the last several years most of his supplies, including his current outfit, had come from such places, and this was one he'd never visited, due to it's location. As a receptacle for the trash of shinobi, and generally ones much more well off than himself, it was likely he'd find something useful in there.

And find something he did. Several minutes of digging turned up a number of articles of clothing, some almost new, and in his size even! They weren't exactly shinobi combat clothing, but as his were about ready to fall off him anyways, well, that didn't really matter much. There was a light shirt, tank top really. Not much defense, but it would allow for easy, and silent, movement. A similarly light pair of shorts, same thing really, but again, they were loose, quiet, and best of all, had intact pockets. The best find though had to be a nearly new pair of shoes. Sturdy sole with good grips, better by far than his shinobi sandals that were so worn he was likely to start slipping even on nail beds soon. They had a high ankle too, which he heard was good for support or some such thing. All in all, he was quite happy with his findings.

And they were all clean too, having been packaged with other like articles, and not basic trash. Looking around to make sure he was alone, Shikaku grinned, and quickly changed into the new set of clothes, thankful for the previous owner's... Should he call it generosity, or wastefulness? Regardless, it was to his own benefit. Making sure anything useful from his old pockets made it into his new ones, Shikaku tossed the worn out garments into the bin. They wouldn't have lasted much longer anyways, and these new ones didn't make him look like... Well, he'd dressed himself out of a dumpster. Giggling to himself at the irony, the boy hurriedly left the area before anyone could catch him and reprimand him for what was, in his mind ridiculously, considered theft, and headed towards the shopping district. He did still need to find breakfast after all.

Reaching home, Shikaku let himself into the apartment and immediately began sorting things into their proper places. Instant foods went into cabinets, perishables into the fridge, and the few utensils he remembered to get went into drawers and other cabinets. His new weapon found it's temporary place on his bed while the new reels of wire were tucked into his equipment pouches. Luckily those were issued by the academy, so weren't in the same shape as his old outfit.

With everything put away, he dumped the final contents of his sacks out of the kitchen table. Receipts. Since he was living alone, and on his own dime now, he'd need to keep track of his expenses. With that in mind, he sat down and started to sift through them. A couple minutes into the examination though, he stopped, eyes wide at what sat in his hand.

"Report to the Raikage for a mission. Urgent."

When had this gotten into his possession? He was certain he'd have noticed anyone coming into the room... Had it been slipped into his bags in the market? He'd been crowded several times, so it was possible, but... If it was urgent, why would they not give it to him directly? Was it the mission of discretion she'd mentioned? It seemed too soon for that, but the secrecy in passing could account for it... Was it from the Raikage at all? No, that sort of thinking had caused him enough trouble already. Even if it wasn't though, it couldn't hurt to head that way. He was supposed to start missions anyways, and would know as soon as he reported in whether this was some prank or hoax or whatever.

Pocketing the note, Shikaku stoode up, grabbing all the receipts and shoving them into an empty drawer under the shelves. He'd deal with those later then. Heading into his room, he quickly strapped on his equipment pouches, making sure everything was in order. Taking the one bit of his old outfit he hadn't scrapped, the straps he'd worn over his chest, he fashioned a carrying strap for the crossbow, folded it in on itself so it wasn't so evident, and strapped it to his back. Lastly, his second glove, the wire cestus, or really just gauntlet went on his right hand, special kunai tucked safely into the cuff for quick access. He didn't know what sort of mission he was headed for, but he wanted to be prepared. It was just too bad he hadn't thought to stop by a clothing store after all. If he'd gotten a cloak to hide everything, he'd be well off for stealth.

Shaking his head to clear it of pointless regrets, he left the apartment once more, locking it behind him as usual, and made his way towards the Raikage's tower. It wouldn't do to be late, even if no time had been mentioned. He didn't know how long it'd already been since he received the summons.

After stopping to question a villager, Amira found herself in front of a decently large sized Apartment Complex. Stepping inside and speaking briefly to the woman behind the desk about holding residence, she was informed Shinobi were able to reside there free of charge. Again, she needed to prove who she was in order to get the perk. When the paperwork was finished, she was shown to a corner unit of the building and told the basics of the complex. Nodding her thanks to the woman, Amira waited until the door was closed before sighing and pulling the cowl of her cloak away from her head. Golden locks of silk drifted over her shoulders as she placed her bag at the foot of the barren bed. She'd need to buy some sheets before returning to the apartment that day. The young Bushin sat on the thin mattress and started to undo her cloak. The place was small, but good enough for what she had planned. It was a single room, with a small standing shower, sink and toilet off the side next to the tiny kitchen. There was already a microwave in the unit, but Amira had no intention of requiring its use.

Perhaps a little TV would be good. Keeping up with local news would be important at this point. With her cloak and brown overdress now removed and setting on top of her bag, the teen laid back on the bed and sighed. There was going to be a lot to do now that she was here, and there was still the issue of going and introducing herself to the Kage. She wasn't really up for that at the moment though. Perhaps a little training would do her some good since she had some free time to kill? With only her weapon on her person, the female got up and headed over to the training area she had passed on her way over.
