Sans' Story
His name is prounced "sands" but without the D.

Sans padded across the small house into his library, easily the biggest room. He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and sighed, cursing the damn things. He always claimed they easily cost more than his whole library, but in reality they only probably cost about half. Pushing the thought of glasses out of his mind, he settled down on the long chair and began bookworming his way through the book he was reading on the Water Serpents of Benhron. He caught himself reading the same sentence for about the fifth time, when he sighed and looked out the bay window up towards Mbhira's main library. He would sell everything he owned, except maybe the glasses because he needed those, to be able to be one of the library's attendants. He rustled his wings sadly, knowing that he would never become one of the fabled attendants, with how many other more qualified, and much richer scholars he had to compete with. He brushed a bit of his wild mane out of his face and returned to his book.

His parents had died a while ago, and left him everything, him being their only son. While "everything" wasn't as much as most, it was still a lot. He walked along the wall of the library, running his hand softly across the books. He had sold everything to buy his books. Well, almost everything. He kept the anklet that he always wore around his left ankle. A golden band engraved with the family crest and a red ruby in the middle. He would've sold that too, but he needed it to prove his heritage. He sighed and plucked a random book off the shelf to take his mind of his family. He didn't much like thinking about them. Not that he didn't like them, he just didn't care to go over their deaths again. He plopped down on the chair and quickly lost himself in the book.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sans doesn't care. No, shut your mouth, he doesn't care. What did he just say? He doesn't care what you just found in the desert, he doesn't care who you just beat. Unless you're giving him a book, shut your face. And then just give him the book and go away.
Sans wears glasses. Despite how much he goes on and on about how expensive they are, he didn't buy them. They were a gift from his parents when he was youngish and just starting to be taught how to read. He got so frustrated when he couldn't make out the words, he threw the book across the room. Since he can't be treating books and knowledge with that sort of disrespect (and because his parents loved him), he got glasses.
His parents are dead. They died naturally, and sort of a while ago, so Sans isn't sad. While he wouldn't admit it to anyone, he did care for his parents. He doesn't miss them anymore, and doesn't show his mourning at their death, but he does care.
His glasses and the golden anklet engraved with the family crest and a ruby in the center that he always wore on his left ankle are the only things left that he has of his parents. Which is, of course, completely his fault.
His parents had normal wealth for the society of Mbhira, and left him every thing when they died. Which, of course, he immediately sold. The house, the jewelry, the slaves, everything, except the books. He bought a small house with a large library, and spend the rest of the wealth on books. He would have sold the anklet too, if he didn't need it to prove his heritage.
He works at one of the smaller libraries around Mbhira. He's gotta make income somehow, so he can buy more books.
What he really wants to do is to become one of the live-in attendants of Mbhira's main library. He would give his entire collection of books to be able to work there. He might even kill someone, if he knew he wouldn't get in trouble for it. Maybe. But he tells himself he'll never be candidate to work there, because there are more qualified people for the job, and outside the qualified ones, there are a lot more who could buy their way in with more money than he's worth.
Despite being a total bookworm, he actually knows how to fight. He can't duke it out with the best of them, but he can hold an attacker off until he can get away.
