Group 12

Quote:

Character Name: Ren.
Minis Account Name: kuromizuki.
Year, Race - Subspecies: Y2, Monster - Gryphon.
Natural Ability/Abilities: As a Gryphon, Ren can shapeshift into his real form - a creature with the head of an eagle, and the body of a lion. His hands also extend to become bird-like talons when he wants them to.

Quote:

Character Name: Jove.
Minis Account Name: Grey.
Year, Race - Subspecies: Y2, Ghost - Wisp.
Natural Ability/Abilities: Jove's natural ability is fluidity of form, right now it's only changing in between his natural form, his child form, a larger white dog, and and his fifteen year old form. He rarely uses the latter two forms, but they are a possibility.

Quote:

Character Name: Tybalt.
Minis Account Name: OnionGrump.
Year, Race - Subspecies: Y2, Ghost - Black Dog.
Natural Ability/Abilities: Tybalt has the ability to fade into invisibility or disappear from sight completely. Reaching year two, Tybalt is now able to move through solid objects.

Quote:

Character Name: Gabrian.
Minis Account Name: Daffu.
Year, Race - Subspecies: Y2, Demon - Nix.
Natural Ability/Abilities: Gabrian seems to have an affinity for the serpent form rather than the fish. His serpent form looks like this [x]. He also can do mild water bending. He can't move large enough amounts of water to hurt anyone, nor can he move them fast enough. He can float some water up and splash someone, or move it this way and that, making forms in the air. He could, perhaps, manipulate rain so it wouldn't drench someone he's walking with; that sort of thing. The larger the amount of water, the harder to control.

Quote:

Character Name: Coralie Bahest.
Minis Account Name: AryKeeyara.
Year, Race - Subspecies: Y1, Reaper - Witch.
Natural Ability/Abilities: As a witch, Coralie can fly and do minor magic. Also her hat is her familiar and is key to Coralie's FEAR; he can bond with other living beings to form a monster.

What has happened?

  • The group has entered the Boogeyman Training Course. Their first challenge awaits them...
  • The group has found themselves stuck in an unbelievably pink room with pig statues. Not just any pig statues but pig statues with mustaches on their faces. Despite following the statue's prompt about picking a door, the group has found themselves with nothing more than a brick wall to show for it and now must find a way to get out of a locked room...
  • The group finally escaped the room with the unwanted help of Tybalt.
  • The group finds a new room awaiting them... go on, make a splash.

The first thing to be observed about the room is that the walls, floor and ceiling are cherry blossom pink. It's absolutely haunting! It's hard to differentiate between the dimensions of the room, is it small, or is it big? Is the room getting smaller the further into it gets? What? It really is? Luckily it seems to stop around 5ft so just watch your head.

To make it worse there are dozens upon dozens of white picket fences, rakes and a couple hats scattered across room. It looks like there was some really funky party here, and to top off the cake there is a set of plain brown doors with two statues in front of both of them at the end of the room that look like a set of, yes, pink pigs with curly mustaches drawn their faces. Upon seeing the group, they speak in unison:

“We are the guardians of the way onward.”

They fall silent. Then the one on the left speaks, “Both of these doors lead somewhere.”

“But it all depends on what you’re looking for,” the statue on the right chimes in, “If it is the way forward -”

“Oh! I know that one!” The one on the left interrupts. “It’s behind my door!”

The one on the right shakes its head. “No, it isn’t. You just want them to go through your door for your own amusement.”

“I am not!” The left statue retorts, “I’m only trying to help! You’re the one who is insisting on confusing them! Besides,” the statue turns towards the group. “Why don’t you lot pick?”

“It is your decision, after all,” the right statue adds with a nod. “Though you may wish to discuss it amongst yourselves; you must agree on one door, and must go through that door and only that door.

“And we can’t tell you what’s behind the doors, either,” the statue on the left chimes in. “So don’t get any ideas! Just let us know which door you pick. And you can’t ask us any questions, either.”

The right statue says nothing, and watches the group expectantly.

Quote:
OOC: Once the entire group has made it to the end of the room and decided upon which door they wish to go through, quote Appeal and announce which door you wish to choose in a large, bright font of your choice. Pink is totally preferred. ;D

"What. The. Jack."

The room was pink.

And not just any pink - a pale, nauseatingly sickening pink that reminded Ren of the medicine his mother had always tried to force down his throat when he was younger. Not to mention that it seemed to be doing something to the walls - or rather, it gave a weird sort of illusion that made the room seem small one moment and large the next. Ren could not seem to tell which exactly it was (perhaps it was medium), and his eyes were beginning to hurt already.

And, just in case the pink wasn't enough, there were rows and rows of white fences, at the end of which sat two marble statues depicting rather ugly pigs...

...with...mustaches.

For a few moments, Ren just stared at them.

Then he turned around and attempted to make his way back out of the house.

"I OBJECT."

Except he'd somehow forgotten he was surrounded by Gabrian, Jove, Tybalt, and Cora, and therefore had his path blocked before he'd even taken all of two steps.

Ren hadn't really been leaving; that was childish, of course, and all he had really done was throw up his hands in utter exasperation, but to start off their training with a guessing game like this...

He turned to Gabrian. "You're smart, what do you think?"
PostPosted: Sun Oct 09, 2011 12:34 am

Tybalt had stopped two feet into the room.

It was pink! So much pink in fact that it was almost blinding! It covered everything from floor to ceiling! Disgusting! He had never seen so much of it in his entire afterlife! Seriously! Who in their right mind would paint... everything such a nauseating colour?

To top it all off, there were statues at the other end of the room. PIG statues. Giant ones. With mustaches. Curly ones.

Now, Tybalt was not really an artistic creature by nature, but maaan! If he ever found the artist responsible for making those, he was gonna' have to convince him to choose another career. They were awful!

"Think we got team Pig's room by mistake?" He asked with a slight grin, only for it to fade slightly when Ren turned around heading for the door again.

"Pfft! Don't tell me your giving up already?" He asked. Not that he could blame him. He seriously wanted to leave this room. It was going to make him go crazy. In fact, he swore he was already starting to hear voices!

Wait no. That was the pigs.

Wait.

What?

"Oh c'mon! Flying pigs maybe, but talking pigs?" Tybalt gave a disappointed sigh, waiting to see what the others made of this.

Coralie walked into the room and grimaced. Pink. What a disgusting set up. The white picket fences were just as stomach turning. If this task was meant to make them feel sick, then it was doing its job. The room seemed to be moving too, at least to the naked eye; shrinking and growing, in and out. It took a moment for her to get adjusted to, but it didn't unsettle her as much as the color did. Growing up in a house full of other reapers got you used to magic in all forms...accidental or otherwise. Enchanted rooms weren't anything new.

"Well look-ee here! Ain't this nice? My kinda place!" Wilfred proclaimed with enthusiasm.

Luka slid along Coralie's shoulder, staring with his blue eyes at Tybalt. He reached out with a paw, trying to touch him, but the little black cat was too far away.

"This seems a bad play on an old riddle," Cora said, closing one eye briefly in discontent. What a first challenge...a guessing game. Bah! There was nothing to do be done. "Doesn't seems there's much we can do if we can't ask questions. How dull."

Pink.

Everything was pink, and despite the fact Gabrian had a distinct affinity for cute things, there was a line, and this room had clearly crossed it. Specially as his eyes landed on the guardian... pig statues. The guardian pig statues with mustaches; there was a moment's pause and then the nix grimaced very clearly, a hand reaching up to rub the bridge of his nose, "I swear to Jack, if those pigs get up and start dancing or singing, I'll scream bloody murder. This is like Christmas all over again with that horrible pink mecha," he lifted his hand off his eyes and peeked at the pigs; nope, they were still there.

In fact, they were not only just standing there; they seemed to be talking to them, asking them to chose a door. Before he could say another word, the griffon turned around, clearly objecting the whole charade and bumped into him. His arms instinctively came out to steady his friend, but his eyes never left the pigs until Ren spoke up again, "What? Me?" he looked down, almost bewildered, "While it's true I'm quite smart, not to mention logical," as well as modest, apparently, "This is far beyond the realm of intelligence, Ren. These statues remind me of that... 'One door leads to safety, the other leads to a horrible death - one of us lies, the other always tells the truth' puzzle I'd seen on skellyvision before," a pause, "But there, you're allowed to ask questions; here I'm not entirely sure whose telling the truth just from what they've said to us. You're asking me to make a wild guess, and last I checked I wasn't psychic."

That said, he turned towards Coralie, almost hoping the witch was indeed psychic and could figure this one out, "My mind can only come up with... wanting to take the right hand side door merely because it is 'right' and thus the 'right' choice," he rolled his eyes, clearly aware of how stupid the logic sounded, "Knowing my luck with fieldtrips, both doors will lead to a horrible death," he turned to Tybalt, "I don't wager you can cheat and check what's behind the wall or anything, could you?" his eyes slid up to the statues, "They didn't say anything about that."

Tybalt felt a shiver run up his spine when Luka reached for him. A cold tingly feeling that he hated, and felt more often than he liked. Though this time he knew what the cause of it was; looking over his shoulder only proved the black dog's assumptions to be correct.

"Guh! You..!" He sneered, giving the feline a dirty look and quickly moved back, until he was standing behind the others. He would use them all as shields if it proved to be necessary! He would! He really would!

This continued to go on until Gabe spoke directly to him, drawing his attention away long enough to respond to the nix.

"What... you mean phase through?" He asked, pointing at the two doors with a disapproving look. It was true that he had gained the ability to phase through solid objects and it was entirely possible that he could try this. But for some reason, the idea of trying it on those doors just didn't sit well with the black dog. "Is that even allowed? 'Cause y'know, I personally would hate to find out the consequences for trying to cheat the system."

"I never give up," said Ren, with as much dignity as humanly possible, despite the fact that they were standing in a room as pink as Alessa's skirts (except a much more sickening shade) and were looking at a pair of talking pig statues with mustaches. His eyes flitted towards Coralie - who's hat was...talking...

...why did Ren not remember that from their previous meeting.

But no matter - he was actually sort of entertained by the hat, since it added a lighthearted air to a situation that was otherwise frustrating and slightly irritating, since the riddle they had to answer was not even really a riddle and more like an obnoxious question.

"Dull indeed," Ren grumbled, in agreement with Cora. He eyed the cat on her shoulder as it reached out a paw to bat at Tybalt's arm, and stifled a smile when the ghost boil almost leapt away.

"Yes, you," he said, as he turned his attention back to Gabrian. "Which, by the way, you can add egotistical to your list as well - but I think you might be right when you say its not really intelligence. It's just a guessing game."

His tail flicked out, batting Gabrian's leg as Ren folded his arms across his chest, scrutinizing the two statues with an expression of great dislike. It wouldn't do them any good to just stand here and hem and haw for ages, but at the same time he did not want the horrible death to happen either. Their chances were split right down the middle, a fifty fifty odd that they would choose a good door.

Then he turned to the one person who had remained silent this entire time so far.

"Well, little brother?" he said. "What do you think?"

Pink... The last time Jove had been in such a pink room, it had been a haunted house that left glitter in his hair, and pink lipstick marks on his poor, freckled cheeks. He wrinkled his nose in distaste, and stuck close beside his brother. If any staircases were set to dump them into a terrible rainbow ball pit, he wasn't going to go alone!

The pink wasn't the only reason for following close enough to step on Ren's tail, he just wasn't familiar with the reaper in their group. Ever since his encounter with Sparrow and Roch, reapers had been a bit less frightening and he was a little more likely to give them a fair chance... But he couldn't help but appear like a shy little brother hanging off his sibling's coattails as he peered around to eye the odd, moustachioed pigs. They definitely weren't trustworthy.

It was only this peering around that saved him from getting knocked over when Ren turned around, and as much as he scowled, it didn't seem to make the situation any better for any of them. Except maybe Tybalt. Misery loves company, and now they were both frowning.

He glanced up at the gryphon, and then lent Gabrian a look. One of his caretakers friends had once said "When you can't go wrong, go right," and the old vampire had laughed and agreed. So the pup would side with the tall boil, and pick the right door as well.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 13, 2011 12:06 pm

Gabrian's gaze slid to look at Coralie's cat, and before he knew what he was doing, the tall boil crouched down on the floor and attempted to lure the feline over with a soft sound and a small hand gesture. When he hand had been right about ready to reach the small creature, Tybalt spoke up and the demon turned his head to look at him, "Hmmm... true enough, though then again, I'm not sure it's cheating when you take into account that one fourth of the population in town has more or less the ability to do so. I'd wager they'd specifically point out we can't do that; it's less cheating and more... ahhh... making use of what we have at hand," his fingers attempted to reach the cat's head as he spoke, "Though then again, that's a good point you have there. Better be safe than sorry," that said, he shrugged.

His fingers passed through the cat's fur, and then he made an attempt at grabbing the feline in order to pick it up into his arms, "I don't recall a moment where I was particularly egotistical," a pause followed as he rose to his feet, the small cat crawdled in his arms, "At least not today anyhow; at least I didn't turn around at the sight of the err.... strangely mustached pigs, Turkey," he offered his friend a small smirk, trying to figure out what the griffin might've done if he'd been faced with the pink mecha.

It wasn't until Ren's tail batted against his leg that Gabrian startled out of his reverie and turned his gaze upon Jove, whom seemed to have chosen the right hand side door, "Well, it appears to me Jove here agrees with my astounding logic... or rather, lack-there-of, and has picked the Right door," pause and turned towards Coralie, all the while stroking his hand through the cat's fur like it was the most normal thing to do when stuck in a pink room, faced with mustached pigs, "What do you think, sweet thing? Do you want to toss a coin and leave it up to chance, or do you want to pick a door?" he was still very much in favor of the door on the right, though for no particular reason other than the one he'd mentioned earlier, amusingly enough.

Cora rolled her eyes at Tybalt, despite the grin that tugged at the edges of her mouth. "Oh please. Luka is by far the most harmless thing you'll ever meet. He usually hurts himself more than he hurts anyone else. I doubt he'll leave you alone, though. Seems he likes you...or is at least curious about you." Luka always picked the worse things to be curious about, it seemed. He was a terribly hopeless little cat.

She let Gabe take him without protest. It wasn't as if she needed Luka by her side all the time. Besides, it meant if he got into trouble she wouldn't have to be the first one to address it. He did ever so like to get into trouble by accident. Luka squirmed a bit when he was taken. He seemed to like the petting, bumping his head a bit against Gabe's hand, but he kept staring at Tybalt and would occasionally reach out with a paw as if to touch him.

"Personally I think phasing through would be a grand idea," Cora replied with a shrug. "Rules are meant to be broken, and when they aren't stated, than we aren't responsible anyway. But if you all insist on being very so linear..." It didn't really matter to her. Get her in a situation where she could use her talents and she might protest a bit more, though.

She quirked an eyebrow at Gabe. "Well, Sugar Bear, picking a door is just as random as flipping a coin in my opinion, so whatever helps you sleep well at night is fine with me. It won't make a difference, really. Flipping a coin just means we can't blame someone for a poor outcome."
PostPosted: Fri Oct 14, 2011 1:41 pm

Ren let his tail flick back and forth, first knocking again against Gabrian's leg, then switching sideways to curl around Jove's. The nix was standing with Cora's black cat looking as content as a kitten with a dish of milk. Rolling his eyes, he reached out and scratched Luka's head.

"You're such a girl," murmured Ren, giving Gabrian an amused look. Then he turned back to the little pig statues standing with their mustaches. He wasn't quite sure what was going to happen when they decided, but there was no use in just standing around and waiting.

"All right," Ren said, clapping his hands together. "The right door it is!"

Tybalt made a strangled sound when Cora mentioned Luka's interest in him. Really. The cat had to pick the black dog of all people? Why couldn't it pester Ren---or even Gabe!? Gabe at least seemed to like the darned beast!

"Maybe so, but I'd rather he didn't like me." He said with a scowl, keeping just out of reach of the feline and flinching back further when he reached for him again. This cat had to learn eventually that he was just not going to return the affection!

Returning to the idea of phasing through the doors didn't help to improve his mood. It was easy to say rules were made to be broken when it wasn't your tail on the line. What if he chose to move through the wrong door? What would happen then? Then again, if they all picked the wrong door, they would all suffer. So perhaps singling one of them out to try would be the smarter choice?

...

NO! No friggin' way was he going to be the damn sacrifice!

Not that he had to worry. In the end, they all settled on the 'right' door. Though whether it was the right choice or not, he was sure they'd soon find out.

"Why do we even have to pick doors to begin with...? What does this even have to do with training?" He complained, simply because he wanted to.

There was absolute silence from the two pig statues over the duration of the group's discussion as they decided which of the two doors they thought would lead to the best outcome. The group may have made their way toward the doors, but the statues stood, well, like statues. They were unmoving from their positions by the doors, however, they had not been completely still as both of the pig statue mustaches seemed to lift off of the their face to curl and then uncurl.

Did you just see that? Wasn't that? What? It really was the cake topper.

It was at the same time that the right door opened as if on command. Perhaps it was the mustaches? How horrifying would that be? The students would probably never know what caused the door to open but what they would know is that what was behind the right door was so astonishing it was like you just walked into a wall. In fact, that's exactly what it was: a brick wall.

With it, there was a clicking noise from behind the other door. It seems it just locked from the other side! There is absolutely no way to open any of the doors from this room and you are now faced with the reality that you are stuck inside this room.

"Do you think they like painting?" The right statue chimed in.

"I think the walls could use another coat of pink." The other statue announced.

They looked at each other, and then they went silent again. There was no need for them exhaust themselves talking right away, after all, their new friends were stuck in there with them forever now since they couldn't open the doors from inside this room!

Quote:
OOC: The statues seem confident that the students are stuck in the room with them now, but is that the end of it? Surely there must be a way to get the other door open and leave. Feel free to try whatever you can, and feel welcome to use anything in the room to get out. There is something in the room that is the key to opening the door.

I will give a reply or prompt depending on the situation of the student's attempts!

Students do not have to agree on what they try. Any of them are welcome to try, as are they welcome to try different things. In fact, the more things they try the greater chance they have to finding that key! They don't have to try at all if they don't want to. They can let their team do all the work or they can admit defeat and go chill with the pigs if they really want, however, I doubt the latter is anyone other than the statue's desire.

Jove's fluffy ears perked as he watched the little cat leave the reaper's side in favour of Gabrian's pettings. Unlike the other canine in their group, he wasn't put off by it being a kitty, in a way it reminded him of a de-fluffed foxfire the way it was being all affectionate. He felt a little bit of longing already at the thought of them, happily cavorting around his room back at the academy.

He glanced up as Ren's tail curled around one of his legs. It was a relief that a door had been picked, without having to let Tybalt go through one of them alone. Jove would have willingly accompanied his fellow ghost, if he didn't have an embarrassing inability to phase through walls at will. They just felt too solid...

Without showing any further concern for their present surroundings, his ears perked towards the cat once again, and reached out a hand to let it sniff him. It clearly liked Tybalt, but would it like all dogs?

He jerked his hand away when he caught a glimpse of movement from the statues direction, and heard the click of the left door locking. No way. The right door led to nothing? He frowned and trotted up to it, pressing both hands against the wall as though unable to believe it wasn't a doorway.
