Welcome back!

Classes had resumed, but there was a class that did not start up yet - Minipet Class. More specifically, Minipet Training 1.3, the class that was supposed to follow Minipet Training 1.2, held before the trip to the 'dreaded foggy island'. When it seemed like Malcolm was missing for good, an announcement was made over the Ickycom, calling all interested students to the newly renovated classroom (aka the one that had burned down during the first lesson) where the next class is to be held.

"Students, sorry for the long wait - Minipet Training 1.3 is to take place in Classroom 13 next Webday; please bring along the same Minipet from the previous class as well as at least one FEAR candy you've made.

While I did not want new students to skip ahead, under these new... Circumstances, if you wish to catch up with the rest of your peers, simply drop by my office and I'll give you a private session on how to make FEAR candy.

Please do not attend this class if you're still... Unwell from the trip that took place a month ago. Thank you."

The OOC: Please read!
If you did not attend the previous class but want to join this one, write a 600-word solo in your dorm regarding making FEAR candy in the school culinary room after visiting Malcolm. To know how to make FEAR candy, read this post before reading this post on how to personalize your FEAR candy! Assume that Malcolm gave you some FEAR candy mixture to start you up, and instead of rolling 3 times, go ahead and roll 3 10-sided dice and find the average for your mixture score. After that, calculate candy score by using the guidelines in the second link.

I never said it was going to be easy. =x

If you have two characters, I'm going to allow both of them to join; however, the 600-word solo still applies for the student that did not attend class. For the pair work later, you can't pair your own characters up.

Also, your character will get injured in this class along with their Minipet - I have permission from Maru! If your character had been deemed unfit since returning to school from the island, please do not join for IC reasons! However, students will not die; Malcolm is not a sadist. Probably.

If you were part of the group that had the mixture explode on them, please post your RP assignment along with your post!

Word of Warning
My classes tend to be long, boring (depending on how you look at it) and tedious. 8D Please do not join if you do not want to commit.

The Foggy Trail

When you reach the classroom, there are two pieces of papers pinned on the door; the name lists (the original copy and the one for latecomers) from the previous class. Interestingly, there is no sign up sheet for this class, but there is a folder full of what looks like a map (refer to left) for all students.

As you enter the dimly lit room with the map, you can't help but notice that it looks more like a survival classroom than a minipet training classroom; the air smells salty and the room had been divided into three sections: Water, Land and Air (basically a bottomless pit). Oddly enough, Malcolm is nowhere to be seen, but the classroom was far from quiet. Aside from the chattering from the students, you can hear the sound of splashing water in the distance and... Growling?

Its too late to leave now though.

A: Water
Water that is about 10 foot deep; boats line the starting line for those foolish brave enough not born with gills to even attempt going into the water. At least each boat comes with a paddle and two life vests?

B: Land
The widest path laid out in the room; sandy and moist from being so near the water, it looks relatively safe... Until you realize that from the map, there are things attacking from both sides of the path.

C: Air
A seemingly bottomless pit; if you drop something in, you won't hear it hit the bottom. However, judging from the map, it can't be bottomless; either way, there are no rest stops until the finish line, so you better be a confident flier!

After picking up Flamethrower from Riley's place and having a small supply of the flame candy, Jericho made his way to the classroom, finding a large folder stuck to the door. The cat was squirming in his arms, seeking to be let down and it seemed it was about to bite him at any moment. The dragon didn't exactly give it the chance. It was too bad he couldn't bring Gimbal around for this, but it was fine.

Grabbing one of the maps from the folder, he looked it over while hearing a variety of sounds from the other side of the door. Exactly what was going on for today's class?

Furrowing his brow some, he pushed on through finding... the room had been renovated for sure.

"What in Jack's skull is this?" He asked to no one in particular. It didn't look like anyone else was around yet anyway.

[ Ren's PRP with Jove after his mixture exploded ]

Minipet Training.

It felt strange, getting back to classes after all this time. For the most part Ren was not back to his old self, but he had enjoyed Professor Malcom's class quite a bit. Not only that, but it seemed like a good way to get himself back into the swing of things. So despite the somewhat...ominous message over the Ickycom, on Webday he scooped up Rhys and carted the lepus off to Classroom 13.

...the classroom was not what he expected. For one thing, it was darker than usual, and smelled of...salt? That was odd. And for another thing, the first thing Ren noticed was the water.

The water.

Flashbacks of the field trip jolted into his mind, of almost drowning, and Ren hastily backtracked, swallowing hard as he stared at the blueish grey liquid. He was not going near that side of the room, that was for damn certain. And though the other sides presented...somewhat less than agreeable circumstances as well, it seemed his best option might be the right side, in the air.

...except Ren had no idea if they would even have to choose. Or rather, he had absolutely no idea what was going on. He knew Professor Malcom tended to be a little unorthodox in his teaching methods (considering they had burned the classroom down the last time), but that was mostly why he enjoyed the class so much. It was why he was even here in the first place.

...except now he was somewhat regretting his decision, but with a sigh and a gritting of his teeth (and a prying of one very confused lepus away from his hair), Ren stepped into the classroom.

...but edged as far away from the right side of the room as possible.

It felt almost unnatural but wiggle back into the... commodity of lessons after what Gabrian had decided to deem as 'the trip from hell'. It was strange to even pondering lessons in the school to be 'normal', but then again, after what the nix had been through, all he'd wanted was to simply bury himself in lessons, his friends and the boring activities he'd been doing before the trip. He still had nightmares, but then again, he figured those would not leave for a long, long time; he could live with that. At least he no longer felt the need to leave the building due to paranoia and fear of having the ceiling cave in on him.

His pets had been a big help with getting his mind back into some resemblance of sanity and calm after all that had happened. His friends had played a big role too, but given the fact they'd been just as broken as he had, he'd actually felt the need to rely on his pets more than he had on his friends.

Instinctively, his hand reached up to scratch the Floresce's right head wing as he lay curled up around his master's neck. The hand, however, stilled the moment he entered the class room, "Oh Jack... is this going to be like that maze? I hate the maze," this was groaned at the all but two solitary students in the room, "I've only made it to the end of that maze once," at least this seemed to be a straight line of terrain, though... that did not make him feel any better.

Davy's eyes opened as they walked into the classroom and he chirped excitedly, apparently not nearly as upset with the whole ordeal as his master was. Gabrian ignored his minipet, placing his hand against it's neck to keep it still as he walked over to Ren. His free hand curled around the gryphon's forearm. He didn't ask anything, but the question was there, hanging in the air between them; the demon wanted to know how the other boil was feeling.

Why was she here again? What exactly had possessed her to come to class? Which was inside and not outside? Oh right. It was the constant chewing of her tail that her mimic, Billy Bob, had been doing ever since that damn announcement over the Ickycom. BB knew exactly what Minipet Training class meant. He got treats! Very yummy treats!

So he had been a terror. Not that this was unusual. But LW had finally caved in hopes of saving her tail from further chomping action.

Of course as soon as she stepped foot into the...classroom, she wasn't so sure she'd made the right choice now. This was the right classroom, wasn't it? A familiar cinammony vanilla scent caught her attention. Yep. This was the right classroom. With a groan and clutching BB tightly to her chest, LW entered the room cautiously, peering at what seemed to be three different 'paths'? There was even a...not so helpful map. Oh Jack.

Hesitantly, as she didn't know if he'd caught her scent or knew she was there, LW approached Ren and opened her mouth to say something, but couldn't find any words. And then, a little belatedly (not that she would admit it to him), she realized Gabrian was there too. And- Was...was that a black pit of doom over there? And water...she shuddered. Why did there have to be water involved already? Then there was the dirt looking path. It looked harmless. But it was in the center. Meaning you could end up falling into the water OR the black pit of doom. Unconsciously, or out of old habits, her hand reached over and clutched at her best friend.

"W-we're in the...right classroom...right?" She all but squeaked out in a small voice towards the two boils. Even the mimic pressed back against her chest was behaving with a wide eye just...staring.

Jove had been remarkably apathetic about attending minipet training class since he heard the announcement. It had been that way with all his classes, the enthusiasm he had once put into his learning had dimmed substantially after that field trip, but whether it reflected a lack of faith in the school staff or an overall blue mood was debatable.

Even without enthusiasm he was able to grab his foxfire, Fruitloup, and carry him off to class. He still had responsibilities, after all.

On the fluff's part, it seemed much more well behaved than the last class. When it's person went away, things were sad and lonely and not good, so it was more than happy to behave in ways that would encourage it's not-quite-right owner to not leave again. Not that Jove had any desire to going on another field trip anyway...

When Jove got to class, he realized there were several students already in attendance, most of which he knew. The realization that it was not an ordinary classroom came second, putting him on edge and making him squeeze the ghostly fluff in his arms tighter. Then he trotted right over to Ren and tried to stand as close as possible without seeming clingy, giving LW and Gabrian each a glance that was shyer than normal given the circumstances.

When he saw the mimic LW was carrying, he froze up, and then ducked right behind Ren with no pretense of hiding his fear.

Malodore had arrived with Parassiti on leash, the scrags growling every so often and digging her claws into the ground at random times, just to throw the plague doctor off. Still, it had also brought the whip along with, curled up at its side and ready to use should it become necessary.

It picked up a map without really looking at it, figuring it would examine the handout once it got into the classroom... and, thus, was completely surprised by the changed appearance of the room. "What....?"

Only then did it study the map.

...

Oh, come on!

It considered turning around and leaving, but skipping out on classes, especially after entering the room, was extremely poor form. Instead, the plague doctor sidled over to one of the walls, giving the bizarre 'obstacle course' ahead of it an extremely withering glare.

Bring the same minipet from before? Eugh...Junko really didn't want to bring Aoi, but she had no reason not to. He needed the training. Sayuri was acting much more behaved lately, she was still very special in the head but she was behaving better; Junko got the feeling this was a result of the whip from the first class. Kuro's misbehaving had always been because of Sayuri, so with her being a good girl he was being a good boy. Aoi? Aoi was a shithead...those were The Mistress' words, really. They still were true!

Junko was carrying Aoi this time, keeping him in her arms as she walked from her dorm to the minipet training classroom. Last class hadn't been so bad, it was definitely better than the day the room had caught fire..hopefully Professor Malcolm had learned from that disaster not to do that again. She was kind of excited for this class!

Or she was until she realized what she was looking at on this map. Fog...

This had to be some kind of cruel joke. Who in their right mind would put the students in a place like this after what had happened? This was cruel. So cruel.

She looked up from the map to look around for some way to escape this. Malcolm wasn't here yet so she could still just...skip this class, right? She didn't like the smugness she was feeling in the back of her head, frowning back toward Her until she noticed Jove was here. Jove! Little Jove..oh, but he was with other friends. Junko decided just smiling and waving to him do for now unless he decided he wanted to come to her on his own; she didn't want to steal him from his friends. Not long after that she heard Malodore's voice and turned to see him nearby along one of the walls. Ooooh he had a good idea! But it was obvious he felt the same way about this as Junko. "Hi, Malodore." She called to him, waving her free hand at him as well. Aoi huffed in the ghoul's arm and tried to free himself. Down! Down down down! He wanted DOWN!

"Stop that." Junko scolded him quietly. Yeah, Junko..you show him who's boss.

Ren was too busy attempting to pry Rhys off of his head to hear the footsteps coming up behind him. However, once he had managed to get the Lepus down, cradling him in his arms, he did feel warm fingers curve around his arm, which made him turn. He should have known who it would be; Gabrian was giving him a questioning look his eyes slightly hooded.

Ren managed a somewhat weak smile. "I'm fine," he said, not sounding convincing in the slightest as he reached out, squeezing the nix's fingers in what he hoped was a reassuring manner. "Really. I am."

No, not really, but I'm not about to leave. Professor Malcom's a good teacher, if not..a little odd, but a good teacher nonetheless. "Hi, Davy," Ren added, leaning forward to pat the floresce's head, but not before another hand clung to the back of his shirt. This one, however, he had seen coming, and Ren tilted his head back to look at LW.

"I think so, yes," he answered her, but he wasn't entirely certain himself. "I mean, there's a map on the door and it looks...Professor Malcom-ish....I suppose..."

Ren trailed off, eying the paths in front of them somewhat suspiciously He did not know what their purpose was, exactly, but he had a sneaking idea that they would most likely have to cross them. Somehow.

A brush of something soft against his leg made him look down, and Ren's expression melted into one of affection as he reached out, absently fluffing Jove's already fluffy hair. He couldn't help but feel better with his little brother around; the boil had a knack for cheering him up.

Except apparently not when he was around mimics, since one look at BB held in LW's arms and the puppy was behind his back, hiding from it. Ren slanted a gaze towards the mimic before asking LW lightly "Still giving you trouble, I presume?"

His tail flicked out, nudging hers lightly as if to reassure her, his eyes moving towards the door as two more people entered - Malodore, if Ren could remember its name correctly, as well as Junko. He offered both of them a smile and a small wave, though he could see that at least from Junko's face that she felt the same way as everyone else did - confused, weirded out and probably slightly apprehensive about what exactly was going to be going on in here. He had never spoken to Malodore, but from what he had observed, it seemed a nice...creature? Boil? Ren was not entirely certain himself, but whatever it was, i was pleasant enough.

"It's okay," he murmured to Jove, his voice barely audible, and only for the ghost to hear. Looking back at Gabrian, he said "I'm not so sure how well this class is going to go..."

And back to the old grind . . . though Aksaja really had no heart for class after that hell of a field trip, he figured . . . well, he should go. Otherwise, they might contact his parents or if he skipped too much he could be kicked out . . .

No. Just no, let's not think about that right now. So, gathering up Viet, the lightning dragon headed for the classroom again. Approaching the door, he tilted head slightly at the folder there, but shrugged and pulled out the piece of paper inside it, figuring it was something they would need.

It was only after he stepped inside and saw the way the room had rather drastically changed that he thought to actually look at what turned out to be a map. What . . . was this supposed to be? And there was fog. Jack, why did there have to be fog? But this wasn't the island again. It couldn't be, it was a classroom inside the school. Surely, things wouldn't be that bad.

Oh hell. Clutching his map so hard that it crumpled into a ball, Aksaja sidled over toward Malodore, Junko, and Jove. "This is some kinda joke right . . . ?"

Some movement caught her eye and she looked up, waving back at Ren with a smile. She then turned to Aksaja as he approached her unhappily, frowning and looking around the room and then down at the map. "I don't think this is a joke. If it was a joke it'd be a very cruel one..." This class was going to be..interesting. Junko would give it a chance. He couldn't be dumb enough that it'd be just like the island.

Right?

Jove didn't huff at Ren's affectionate behaviour or bat his brother's hand away, between the mimic's presence and the strange classroom topograpy he was in sore need of reassurance. He hadn't been in any groups with mimics in the past minipet training class, but that seemed like ages ago. His ears fell back and he yawned anxiously, letting out a squeaky whine as he did so.

Seeing Junko had caused the pup's ear to perk slightly, but he hadn't had time to give so much as a shy tail wag in reply to her wave before Aksaja approached carrying yet another one of those terrifying mimics.

He buried his face in his confused pet's fluffy neck and slipped farther around Ren, to where he was no longer visible by either mimic's hungry, beady eyes. Fruitloup could only wiggle feebly in the pup's arms with big, curious eyes, taking that advantage to give the gryphon a thorough sniffing.

Calder hadn’t been there for the first class, but he did make Fear candy. He could only hope he wouldn’t be in a group with Riley for this class, and was rather wary when entering. That was changed when he saw water. “Heey! There’s water in here!” He pointed out, actually pointing at the strip of lake that was there before glancing at the other two, less important terrain options. Land – eh. He could do land, but the drop of nothingness was something he didn’t even consider an option. He couldn’t jump that far.

Rather excited to do anything with water, he looked up at Fester, who seemed rather upset to be even going to a class again and was biting hard on his ear to show it. Prying the creature loose, he looked about and noticed Malodore. “Malley!” He said, waving before trotting over. “Hey, there’s water in this class.” The kelpie said excitedly. He never got to go swimming in class, not that anyone trusted him before. “What do you think we’re doing? I wasn’t here for the first class. Do you all usually swim in class?” Fester was squirming in Calder's hands, latching onto a finger.
